The price for the portion size was a great value and we ended the night feeling very full and even had to pack up an entire container of the hotpot for two that we didn't finish. Overall, we had a great time and I can't wait to come back again. This might be my new favorite Korean food spot in the Boston area.

One warning: unless you arrive around 6 p.m. or earlier, expect a wait. (It's popular.) Oh, and the food is worth it. The leek and egg dumplings tasted homemade in the best way: slightly rustic, fresh, and delicious. The hand-pulled noodles are the stars. Every noodle dish we ordered had the perfect chewy texture. My favorite was the Laghman noodles, though the Jahunger noodles were a close second with their rich spices and satisfying heat. The mee fen and stir-fried green beans both packed a respectable kick and leaned a little salty, but not enough to keep me from happily polishing them off. Don't forget the tea! It's beautiful to look at, filled with all sorts of ingredients (Chinese jujubes!), and only lightly sweet, which I appreciated. Then came the showstopping honey cake. The cake itself was fluffy, while the filling had a firmer, almost sticky texture with deep caramelized flavors that reminded me of burnt caramel in the best possible way. We decided to order the non-spicy one since others were not big fans of spice. When we received the food it was very spicy. It was hard to eat and we did not enjoy it. The waitress came back and thought we wanted the spicy chicken stew which was incorrect. She apologized and wanted to switch it. At this point we were running late so it didn't matter. There were practically no clean tables for us to sit at, half-finished plates of food scattered around the entire place, improper food handling (not swapping gloves after touching various surfaces), and even witnessed one of the employees drinking a leftover smoothie drink directly from the blender (!!!!!). Normally these are things I wouldn't notice when dining at the restaurant, but given the layout of this place it was hard to miss. Eat here with caution!

The laghman noodles were a little overcooked. The restaurant staff were nice to accommodate us and make the Laghman substituted with chicken instead of the usual beef (for our friend with dietary restrictions). The chicken I think was unseasoned because of this because it normally isn't in the laghman. (I wonder if their original beef default would've been better) The spicy fried chicken bits in red peppers was pretty good (you can adjust the spice level).

Definitely in the bottom 20% of similar places. Food was generally stale, salty, and uninspired. "Meat" was mostly a bready filler material. Extremely salty. Plain julienned iceberg. Unripe slice of mass-market tomato, Sauce was also overly salty and tasted institutional. Za'atar was absolutely expired, and the pita was not fresh. Sides were also a big disappointment. Tabouleh could have been at least day old or more and the infredients were low quality. Soggy grain with bits of unripe tomato and little else. The hummus was pleasant and fresh but the most basic. It was mostly chickpea puree, salt and water. An amateur could do far better on the hummus and tabouleh. I don't know how a restaurant could sell such low quality food in good conscience. We hate wasting food but most of this ended up in the trash. Couldn't even feed to our dog due to all the salt. Speaking of trash, I didn't take off for this but the styrofoam containers are not sustainable. We won't go back to places that still use them. Update: I couldn't understand how a restaurant with good ratings had such lousy food. Now I see they were giving out a dessert in exhange for ratings. Piece of shit owner . Extremely bad customer service. They gave me bad rice and when the owner realized that I was right he threw my meal away before I could take pictures, and refused to give me a new one rather than addressing my concern. And Don't share your meal. Me and my friend were sharing the meal and he said that I know what kind of people are you buying only 1 platter. Wow. Could end it there but I have been eating here for 10+ years and can not believe that every plate they serve me continues to blow my mind. This review is long overdue. Generous portions and great bang for your buck in the city! I usually have enough for lunch and dinner in one plate. I work with a couple big guys too a few blocks away and this place fill us up. Recommendation: Lamb Shawarma Plate. Incredible. Criticism: They need to serve dinner plates with bigger forks so I can shovel it into my mouth fast enough to be back before my lunch break is over (no joke, the plastic forks they give you to eat with are so small haha). read more

When you're a broke college student like me, it's really nice to have a place you can go to and get two meals for $12. Their dinner plate is huge, and unless your appetite is equally huge, you can save half of it and heat it up for a second meal later. The food is really flavorful and satisfying, and it's prepared very quickly after you place the order. They used to give a free soda with the order but recently changed it to only bottled water, but honestly that's not too bad since water is healthier. I end up coming here at least once a week just for the sizeable portions you get for your money. What's not to love? read more

I've been going to this place since I was about 8 years old and every time I feel like I am back in the Middle East with my brother and sisters as soon as Nancy Ajram opens her mouth and the most beauteous notes escape. Not to mention, the melodies are accompanied by the tastiest hummus and falafel combined in their homey pita bread enclosure. I've been going here for well over 20 years. While the restaurant itself was not the most modern place the food was always superb. It recently changed ownership. The owners appear to have given the place a facelift of sorts as it looks more appealing inside. I also noticed that the food is just as good (even more flavorful actually) and so far the prices remained about the same. I think they will continue to do a good business as long as they dont decide to raise the prices. If they raise prices they will likely lose the large student population who eat there. read more

Pleasantly surprised this place is here. Home style food at a good price. Portions are great, highly recommended. There's a sign at the register that says free baklava when you leave a good review of your experience. The young man behind the counter gave me a bit of a hard time about leaving a thorough review of my experience so here I am using all 150 characters for my baklava. I like Boston Shwarama! A college student staple. If you're looking for something flavorful and filling, this place has got your back. I've been here around 4 times before, and my favorite item is the plate for ~$18 because there's so much food. It easily lasts me at least two meals because there's heaps of meat, rice, fries, pita, salad, sauce, and a falafel on top. Plus free bottle of water! I love this hole in the wall shawarma joint. I have been coming here for half a year now and pass by weekly for the lamb shawarma sandwich. Always moist. The pita is delicious and wonderfully thin. Food always comes out super quick and surprisingly I always find a seat (that last part is just luck though haha). As far as value goes, you get a HUGE sandwich for like $8.50. It is hard to get a price like that for something remotely decent in Boston. Definitely a favorite. Wish we had more gems like this around. read more

Boston shawarma is an amazing place to grab a quick bite to eat! The food is authentic and cheap, and it's generally not too busy. I ordered the huskies special meal with the lamb gyro and it was out within four minutes! There's a ton o pod options in the area, but if you're looking for a quick bite and on a budget then I would definitely recommend it here! Wow! If you want the best shawarma sandwiches in the Boston area this is the place for you. It's no surprise that this place is always so busy. As is common in Boston downtown, parking is hard to find. But this place is open till midnight so you might be able to find a spot if you come around that time. I ordered the lamb shawarma plate and It left me extremely impressed. The meat was perfectly seasoned, tender but with a meaty chew, and deliciously moist. The plate also comes with tahini, rice, hummus, salad, a falafel, flatbread, and fries. But the meat really steals the show. It is priced at a modest $11, and for the amount of food you get, it's well worth it. This is the the second time I've come here and I've never tried a Shawarma before, but the lamb shawarma I ate with a side of fries and falafel was a great first experience. I love Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean cuisine and this was a delicious delicacy to sit down and have inside the store. I ate it with a side of spicy hummus sauce and it made the meal so enjoyable. As a vegetarian grad student, this is my go-to lunch spot! They do wonderful falafel, at great lunch prices for this area of the city. Service is always fast, and food is always delicious. Today I tried chicken and falafel shawarma, which was very good as well. Employees are nice, food comes out very quickly and they usually play some cool Arabic music. It may not be the most authentic gyro but they are so good. Spicy chicken is my fav. Most people get the plates cause it's so much food, I prefer the gyros cause they press and cook the pita wrap fresh for every order. The owner makes all the sauces from scratch, there is a lot of love that goes into their flavors. I love the harissa and the avocado tahini. The salads are legit, I build my own every time and it's sooo good. Thai cashew dressing is delicious. Everyone who works there is so nice, Noah is awesome and we always laugh about something.
