Soft buttery scorching hot Soft Pretzels w/ ok cheese.

I finally went here for the first time last night. Yes it's a dive and yes I knew that. Service by Stephanie was great and she shucked my James River, VA oysters right in front of me. They were fresh and delicious and only $21.95/dozen. She did say it would be awhile but it wasn't too long at all so I just played on the jukebox. Then I had the soft pretzels with cheese and they were scorching hot. The cheese could use some improvement but everything else was excellent. I enjoyed myself and the food and service and will be back.

Can't believe this place lasted this long in this neighborhood! In a way I actually can since the local redneck Gator fans can make it all happen! I love the Gators and this place rules. Feels like you are trapped in the swamp when youre in here but thats expected when you step into a place called the Thirsty Gator. Drinks are super cheap and food is all straight bar food. Apparently they have good wings which i have yet to get. I love the decorating in this place cause it's very college and every single thing in here is blue and orange. Seems like nothing has really been updated since 1986. Workers seem original since day 1 and they are the nicest people!! The atmosphere here must be alot of fun during football season. KNOWN FOR THE UYSTUHS!!

This is a hole in the wall oyster dive bar. It has been here for 37 years, and the owner was the one preparing the oysters. You will easily miss the place, right off the main drag but nothing that would scream "oyster bar" unless you are a gator fan. Came in on a Sunday night, not a lot of people. Place is your typical no frills dive bar: pool table, electronic darts, and I believe they might have live music on certain days. Ordered 6 oysters from Louisiana, it was mid size version. I had them med steamed. One thing that I noticed was the oyster had a funky smell. Still went ahead and ate them. It did not taste fishy, slights salty. The cocktail shrimp was huge, firm and fresh. Complemented well with the sauce and hot sauce. Overall, a great place to hang out. My only disappointment is the oyster funky smell. I will come back and try another batch and try the other food.

I've lived in East Orlando for 15 years, heard all the good reviews but never took the time to stop by and check Thirsty Gators out. Well, boy what a fool I've been. Hands down some of the best oyster I've ever tasted. Cold, fresh and shucked right in front of us. Not to mention some of my favorite beer selection. Plenty of tvs to watch your game on, and if you're a Gators fan you'll be at home.

If you want "game on every wall" energy, it delivers. If you want competent service and food that justifies the price, that's where it fell apart for us. The wings were the bright spot: flavorful, cooked well, and the only thing I'd order again. The rest of the food ranged from fine to actively bad. The chicken tenders were ok, but oddly inconsistent, one piece was noticeably tiny compared to the others. The mustard sauce was genuinely good and did a lot of heavy lifting. The fries were below average, the kind you keep eating out of habit and then realize you're not enjoying them. The coleslaw was the dealbreaker, it tasted old and was basically inedible. Service was the bigger issue. It was slow, and not just in a "busy night" way. We didn't get plates when the appetizers hit the table, we had to ask. Same story with water: we ended up asking because we barely saw our server. I get that a place like this runs high volume, but the basics still matter, especially when the menu and prices suggest more than a bare-minimum experience. Drink-wise, the beer list didn't help. IPA options were limited, which is a weird miss for a sports bar that's clearly trying to be a destination. Bottom line: typical sports bar ambience, one solid item (wings), and a lot of reasons not to come back. I wouldn't return for the food, and the lack of healthier options doesn't give me another reason to choose it. If I'm on I-Drive, I can do better with less hassle.

The person who waited on us did not normally work on Monday nights. She was very pleasant. I thought it took a little longer to get my food. Luckily the game was going to start soon so it took my mind off of having to wait so long. I ordered the smash burger and fries. The fries were crispy and hot. The smash burger was sub par. Burger, cheese, bun. Absolutely zero seasoning. Toppings were extra so I just got it with cheddar cheese. Flavor wise it was definitely lacking. The wings were crispy and the teriyaki sauce was good. I asked for my check and waited over 20 minutes. The person who I asked for my checked walked by like she had forgotten that I had even asked. When she mentioned oh I'll be right back with your check and the wings! I had to go to the bar to get it because the waiter never brought it over. Now I came here to watch the game. While it was playing on all the TVs, there was no sound. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the large party that was there, but I was disappointed that they did not have any sound playing for the game. It was also huge so she was able to take half home to have the next day. I shared the Greggie (Philly) since I was not too hungry and it was good.
