In what world is this 20$ worth of food? It's literally all rice, no chicken. The dish is CHICKEN RICE, NOT RICE WITH SOME CHICKEN.

Serving size is ridiculous. 20$ for a scoop of rice is absolutely ridiculous. First and last time I'd be here.

Nice - pleasant dine in room

I usually get to go order. Do not have much dine in experience. This's the only place i go for the Steam chicken anytime i come back SJ We got : - Half chicken 5/5 : Chicken's really good very tender. Go well with fine blended green onion ginger sauce and some other sauce. - Chicken Giblets 10/5: the best best best ever. As i compare to one of my other fav shop in elk grove city. Giblets is all mixed, well cleaned - prepared. You won't get any bad smells. All very soft easy to chew. - small side of mix salad 5/5: some cabbage, Vietnamese mint leaves, reg mint. The price may seem a little bit more than the other place. But you get what you pay for. Very good quality food. Also we all know San Jose is known for expensive high tax spending. So be ready for small chicken portion with around 15 bucks . The owner's friendly and helpful. Easy to order thru phone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean with locked restrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A plus is big private parking lot. It helps a lot for searching for parking in this busy area.

    Lemongrass chicken with sticky rice

This is our go to Vietnamese chicken spot when we can't decide what to eat. With the traditional chicken pho, lemongrass grilled chicken thighs and refreshing salads you can't go wrong. Their lemon soda is so good. Service is always fast and food is consistently delicious. And they also do chicken rice congee if you need that comfort dish. Small and family run and we are never disappointed.

Overcooked mushy rice that will piss off all Asian

I called this place by mistake trying to get the one on story road the guy say give them a chance, so I did. I was beyond disappointed their com ga taste terrible the rice severely over cooked just imagine what they would do to you in vietnam if you serve them this kind of rice. The chicken was bland and also over cooked their sauce was too damn sweet for the chicken. In stead of kimchi they give you vinegar onion and ram dam. It tasted more like a goi ga then com ga hai Nam, my meal look like a school meal, I'm gonna edit my review I dump the food out the chicken taste terrible and it so little l, it took me 30 to get here most of the meat is just chicken skin and a little bit of meat they charge 19.50 he gave me a discount so 1850. Never again, there's a lot review after about how good the place is... i have no idea what they order but from what I order stay away. I threw the food out I couldn't finish it was mostly bones there's no meat ..

The thinnest chicken I've ever seen from a restaurant.

I have never been served so little chicken with my cơm gà & miến gà... I'm actually shocked this place has decent ratings. The meat is paper thin. The skin is almost thicker than the meat. And there are so few pieces. Each dish was $22 before taxes and tip. So I spent over $50 for maybe 2 oz of chicken. That is insane. As for the food, the rice was unseasoned. The chicken was tasteless. The sauces are yummy, but they're the only source of flavor. That's not how cơm gà hải nam should be. I will never stray from Phở Gà An Nam again. I've learned my lesson. How are you guys eating here??? Couldn't be me. Never again.

We love Hainan chicken and this place was rated high on Yelp and it serves all chicken. We got the Hainan Chicken plate and chicken pho. Both were a disappointment. Hainan chicken is usually all about the ginger sauce. If you mess up on the sauce then the whole dish is messed up. Well, the sauce was lacking flavor. The chicken pho was bland and lacking flavor too. The noodles were over cooked so it was mushed and soggy. It was either a bad day for the chef or we clearly ordered the wrong items. We didn't have a good experience here. The dishes were also priced at $17-$18 each. The only item we got that was good was the pandan mung bean drink. It honestly tastes like 7 Leaves in OC. Really good. 2.5 on food, the service bumped it to a 3.

When I went during lunch time, it was not busy. The workers were friendly and we didn't wait that long for our food. Good hole in the wall spot for authentic Vietnamese food. Plenty of seating as well. I ordered the Com Ga Nam An which is hainan chicken with chicken rice. I wished they gave more pieces of chicken. The rice and chicken tasted fresh and satisfying. They provided 3 different sauces. My favorite sauce was the fish sauce. Definitely cleaned my plate at this place. The onions and the tomatoes went well with chicken and rice. The meal also came with chicken broth which went well with the dish.

Lemongrass Chicken 100% must try! This is my comfort food every time I'm in San Jose! Simple but very delicious big serving too!

Visited on a Sunday evening and the place was empty, no lines, no waits, instant service. The staff was friendly, helpful, efficient, and gave us everything we needed without even having to ask. The restaurant was clean, plenty of tables and seating inside, and two TVs at the corners, one playing a show (either on mute or really low volume), the other with changing images of nature and playing meditation music (or "healing melody" as noted on the screen), something like what you may hear at a spa or massage parlor... that was different (for a restaurant setting) but cool, as we shared conversation while enjoying our meals. We got the #3 (grilled lemongrass chicken with rice) and #11 (pho with chicken giblets). My bf especially liked the Hainan chicken pieces, and noted the tiny spicy jalapenos/ peppers that came on the side (I tried it, and it was super spicy!). I absolutely loved the grilled lemongrass chicken dish. The chicken didn't have a whole lot of seasoning but still had really good flavor, juicy and grilled perfectly with a nice char. It came with sauce/broth on the side, but didn't really need it, as it was good on its own. It was also a good-sized helping, two pieces of chicken, plenty of rice (I probably only finished half), and fresh pickled veggies that weren't too sour. Everything was tasty while not heavy on the sodium, which is exactly what we wanted. Plus we got a free soda with Yelp check-in. Overall, we had a great experience, and I'd definitely return.

What I LOVE from SJ Eggrolls is the garlic noodles with the garlic butter shrimp. IT SO DELICIOUS! One of the best garlic noodles I've ever had and the shrimp was tasty. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the shell was soft to eat. Another item I love here is the banh khot! So crispy, fresh, and fried well. Very limited seating, this is more of a take out spot. I was especially hoping the spring rolls would be similar to the ones I love from Brodard in Southern California, so I came in with my fingers crossed. They have some nice combo deals, but I wanted to sample a few different items instead. I ordered one of each of the fried egg rolls (only $2 each) and originally ordered the pork and shrimp spring rolls. While I was waiting, I changed my mind and decided I wanted to try the Nem Nuong rolls instead. They were incredibly nice and changed my order without any issues, which I really appreciated. The place was extremely busy, so I ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. The net-wrapped egg roll was excellent, super crispy with great flavor. Just be sure to eat it over a plate or with a bag underneath because those crunchy flakes go everywhere! The regular egg roll was slimmer than I expected, but it was also very tasty. The Nem Nuong rolls were good too. They didn't quite reach the level I was hoping for compared to Brodard, but they were still very enjoyable. The house dipping sauce was delicious and really complemented the rolls. They also include a small container of hot sauce for anyone who likes a little spice. I tried it, but honestly preferred sticking with the house sauce. The restaurant itself is small and simple, with only about three tables, so it seems like it's geared more toward takeout, which was obvious from the steady stream of takeout orders while I was there. Next time, I'll probably call my order in ahead of time to save some waiting. Overall, a great spot for Vietnamese appetizers at reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

The Bun Cha Ha Noi is fantastic. The pork belly was grilled perfectly, and it came with a huge assortment of veggies, a big bowl of sauce, and a good amount of rice paper. I liked that the pate was warmed up with the rest of the dish, and the beef cubes were well seasoned, but they could have been more tender. We also got the fried chicken wings in garlic fish sauce. The flavor on the outside was great, but the breading was a bit dense and the inside needed more flavor. The service was great and they checked on us several times. Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.
