Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Parking lot is quite busy though and can be difficult to find parking. We shared the banh beo which was great and I loved it! I got the banh canh ga dac biet (combination chicken with Vietnamese udon noodle) and it was pretty good....until I found not 1, but 2 pieces of thick curly black hair in my broth (see pic). I was able to look past the first piece of hair but after the second piece, I lost my appetite and wasn't able to finish the bowl. The cherry on top is that my friend's bowl had a piece of hair in her broth too, but it was different color and texture. Luckily, they didn't charge us for the meal and were nice about it. I heard from a local food influencer that Pho Ga An Nam had the best Bun bo Hue, and it was delicious. The Bun bo Hue had a rich lemongrass flavored beef broth, with bouncy rice noodles, thin slices of fatty pork, blood cubes, Vietnamese pork sausage, pork knuckle, and beef shank. I ordered a small, and it was a huge portion. The meats were really flavorful and fresh, but the beef shank was a little on the tough side. Next time I'll probably ask to get it a little spicier. I came here later in the night with my family and the service here was great! Our server was kind and patient with the different orders that we had in our party. I got the pho tai - it was flavorful and great to have since it was a cold evening. My husband got their bun bo hue. He thought it could have more flavor, but we both agreed that the meat in both our dishes were a little dry. My favorite dish to order is Com Ga Dac Biet Siu Siu An Nam. A complete meal! The soup is rich yet super clean. The rice, kimchi, chicken, and sauce are all super flavorful and pair well together. I came here one afternoon for lunch. Got the bun bo hue and the banh beo. The banh beo is a steamed rice cake topped with dried shrimp, green onion sauce and a fried pork skin. Then side of a sauce. The bun bo hue has a variety of meats in it such as the Vietnamese ham (Chả lụa), pork blood, beef tendon, noodles and herbs. There was also a side of herbs such as mint, banana flower, bean sprouts. The broth itself had a strong lemongrass flavor, overtime tasted a lot of mint flavor since there was mint already added to the soup when I got it. Next time, I will probably ask them to not put the mint inside the soup beforehand, I will add it myself. The large is a big portion and filling. Overall, pretty good. Came here on a Saturday because pho ga nha was packed and we forgot the next plaza had a similar restaurant too. It was pretty packed in here too when we came. We got seated fairly quickly and our orders were taken promptly after. We ordered the chao ga that came with shredded chicken on top of salad and com ga roti. My friend enjoyed the chao ga but it's a dish you can't mess up on. The com ga roti was crispy, but it tasted like crispy rotisserie chicken in my opinion. The sauce it came with did add flavor so it helped the dish. It also came with a small bowl of soup for you to enjoy if the chicken and rice is too dry. Let's preface this review by saying I was intending to go to the place next door (BBH An Nam) but came here instead for whatever reason. That reason does not matter, however (maybe I was annoyed with the parking situation and did not read the signage correctly, since both restaurants have An Nam in their name). I originally came to compare the BBH with Hue Restaurant on Silver Creek. Regardless, this place stands alone as a top-notch place for BBH. I did not even realize I went to the wrong place in the first place as I was hit with the strong aroma of BBH broth as soon as I stepped inside. It was extremely packed, and almost everyone dining was Vietnamese (I was in little Saigon after all). I got lucky though with my timing and managed to grab a table pretty quickly, and a corner one at that. It was pretty loud inside with lots of conversation, but there was music playing, and I didn't care about the various sounds, as I was there for the food. Apparently this establishment is known for their chicken dishes, but quite frankly, many people were ordering BBH, as did I. I chose the large as I was very hungry and I was craaaaving BBH. It did not take long for my steaming bowl to arrive to my table. I immediately asked for a side of chili oil and shrimp paste, which I always love to add to my BBH. I first tried the broth and it was so good and had great depth of flavor. I can only imagine how the place next door tastes (will for sure go to the right place next time, haha). I added the shrimp paste and chili oil to dress it up even more. I was exceptionally pleased to find the banana blossoms as part of the veggies, since most restaurants do not offer them. The various meats were tender and I loved the large pieces of cha lua. I did not get any pork knuckle in my bowl but the amount of other meats and the delicious broth made up for it. In the middle of my meal, I asked for extra lemons, which were quickly brought to my table. I love adding extra lemon juice to my broth to cut the funkiness of the broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked as well and 10/10 slurpable. Personally, the large size was just fine for me, but if I weren't as hungry, I would have gone for the small. However, the difference in cost for the sizes is only $1, so why get the small if you can get the large anyway. I could see me sharing this bowl with my husband as well if we wanted to have other dishes on the side. I did see other people sharing lots of food, so I'm sure it's possible. Is this the best BBH I've had? Besides this one place in south Sacramento that serves BBH in a stone pot, I'd say so. I now cannot wait to try BBH An Nam next door, as I've seen reviews about it being even better than this place. However, I'll be the judge the next time I go. I'd love to bring my husband here to experience the BBH! read more

You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu, but special shoutouts to the pho ga dac biet. Nothing to perk up your spirits during a cold spell (either externally or internally) like a piping hot bowl of pho ga. Pho ga an nam has a wonderful interior. Aquarium enthusiasts will note the balling saltwater tank that serves as a natural border for the lobby. There's a 'decadent chic' (I made that up) decorative theme with a bit of a draft coming from the outside patio if you're seated by the cashier's counter on a cold day. Lastly - the service here is actually well above the standard for an SJ classic spot, especially from the host stand. The owner is extremely personable and hardworking. He's a pleasure to interact with while waiting in line to get seated. It's a shame that this place literally blew up in flames! read more
