Bun Bo Hue 15.90 and Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet 19.90 doesn't listed on menu! Be aware!

I usually come here for bun bo hue! BUT don't let the server trick you when ordering. Today, the server kept asking me to order the Bun bo Hue Dac biet Speacial and I saw on the menu that they only display the price $15.90 for Bun Bo Hue and the Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet Special is not displayed on the menu or anywhere in the store. I assumed that maybe they call it different way. At the end it costs 19.90 when checking out. The difference is adding few pieces of meatballs to the bowl. Be aware!

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was about half empty today. I still love the small family owned vibe. We got 2 orders of banh beo with cha hue and nem chua. The nem chua wasn't as fermented as I'm used to. Bun bo hue is always so flavorful and hearty. We also got bun nem nuong, so refreshing with all the fresh veggies for the warm weather.

Came here for lunch with my mother. We were wanting soup and have always passed by here. The bun bo hue was good, but a bit sweet and not at all spicy. Is it the best? It was ok... is it better than other places I have tried .... Yes! It didn't have an overly fishy smell, nor did it have that weird gamey meat smell. Will consider trying other dishes here.

Although my go to spot for Bun Bo Hue is now Que on Silver Creek, I wanted to stop by to see how Bun Bo Hue Dong Ba was doing after it replaced the Seafood Hut that I grew up eating. Although the prices were reasonable, the taste isn't the same. Not only were the portions smaller, but the cha isn't as sweet as I remember, a characteristic of cha que. There's a variety of different dishes on the menu now, but it is a mix and match of Vietnamese dishes like hu tieu that doesn't really make sense in a restaurant that formerly sold bun bo hue at every table... Pros: Reasonable prices that haven't increased as much as some other restaurant from rising food costs. Taste isn't as good as Hue or the former Seafood Hut, but still decent if you are in the area. Cons: Parking lot has and continues to be tight and limited.

I ordered a bun bo hue and a sugarcane juice from here and it was so yummy! The sugarcane is fresh and they squeeze it right in front of you, and the bun bo hue is delicious and has so much flavor. The noodles are soft, I will definitely be returning!

I grew up coming to this place with my family for their Banh Beo and Bun Bo Hue. These are their two staple dishes. The restaurant recently had an ownership change within the last couple of years and they've definitely done a great job renovating the place and making it look more modern. We had our waters delivered to us immediately as we skimmed the menu. I always order the banh beo and bun bo hue. My boyfriend ordered the nem nuong noodles! This place always does a great job delivering on the flavors. I will always visit every few months when I'm in town!! Highly recommend.

Went here as a kid, and happy to come back and see the changes to this place. They remodeled and the inside looks more modern and they keep it really clean as well. All of the side dishes are worth getting. My favorite was the Banh Beo. It was steamy and fresh unlike other places. I was shocked at how good the Banh Nam was. I never liked it as a kid, but the way they do it is really good. The Pho was unique. The broth is clear and had more of a cinnamon spice to it than normal, which I liked a lot. The owners were very nice as well. They were welcoming and talking and suggesting all types of things to us.

This is my partner's childhood go-to place to eat with his mom and dad, and he recently introduced it to me! I have no idea how I lived a lot of my life not knowing about this hidden gem. I brought one of my coworkers here to reminisce flavors of home (since she hadn't been able to see her family in Vietnam) and she totally loved the flavors and ambience of this place! The owner was also incredibly sweet when he found out she was trying to take pictures of her food to commemorate her visit. He had his cooking staff rush to complete our dishes so that our appetizers (the banh beo and banh ram it) wouldn't get cold, lol. An absolute solid eats at a lovely family owned business! I believe they've also got another spot located somewhere on Capitol Expressway. If there's anything you should try here, it's their freshly made banh beo topped with fried pork skin cracklings~ it's highly addicting!

I have been coming to this small restaurant for many years and it is still the same as it was the first time I came here. I always get their Banh Beo and Banh Ram It. Their Banh Beo are always super thin and soft all the way through and have a slight gummy texture. They are great for their small side dishes however the Bun Bo hue is average to other places. The Bun Bo Hue has flavor missing in their broth and not a ton of meat is included in the bowl. Service can be basic, you should expect only to come here to get authentic Vietnamese food. They have limited servers that can speak English well so it can be hard to order. I find it better to just point at the pictures on the menu than trying to explain what you want.

Banh beo (ground shrimp over rice cakes)

Decent authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Super small inside w not much seating area...so expect a wait especially on weekends during lunch time. Service is also not super fast. *there's normally only 2 or 3 people in the front so you have to be insistent but also patient with them * Dish highlights: *Banh beo (ground shrimp over rice cakes)= *known for this dish) -tasty, great consistency, pork grinds to top it off 8.5/10 * Banh bot loc (shrimps & pork tapioca dumpling) = classic dish chewy, tasted fresh, but lacking a lot of filling 7.5/10 * Banh ram (fried mochi dumpling)=*my fav. Great texture, crunchy 9.5/10 * Bun Bo hue (hues rice noodle soup) = can't go wrong w this one.! You'll see a lot of people ordering this soup @ this place 8.5/10

Bun Bo Hue Dong Ba is located in the strip mall connected to Lee's Supermarket. They weren't crowded yet at 12pm on a Sunday; however, they started getting busier when I picked up my order about 10 minutes later. I ended up trying: -A3. Bánh Bèo (Ground Shrimp Over Rice Cakes, 5/$5.90, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jlGmAyuQwQSkvTBbnlJ_ZA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I didn't notice that this version didn't have mung bean in it, and I was definitely missing the mung bean. This version was good, but likely would've been better when eaten fresh. -A11: Bánh Ram Ít (Steamed Dumpling Atop Fried Dumpling w/Shrimp & Pork, 3/$5.90, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=PeAUnr6thEoYfJJnOFDLmA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I loved how soft and chewy the bánh ram ít was! However, there wasn't much filling. I liked the flavor of the crispy bottom cake, but it was slightly greasy. -C7: Cơm Âm Phủ (Hue's Combination Rice w/Grilled Pork, $15.90, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qqJOEOBqhOq3zVyYb-yNAw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Good rice plate overall, and they give you a ton of rice. I liked that there was a mix of different meats, and my favorite out of the three was the nem nướng (grilled pork sausage). The thịt nướng/grilled pork was also solid, but I didn't like the texture of the slivered chả lụa/steamed pork roll. However, the rice was slightly dry. Their nước chấm/fish sauce mixture was good, and had the perfect amount of sugar. I had a good experience here overall, but there wasn't a dish that I loved, and prices aren't crazy cheap. I would consider coming back to try other dishes if back in the area, and would opt to dine in to have the dishes as freshly made as possible. Only indoor seating was available, and they had hand sanitizer. Parking in this plaza was easy to find at the time, and they had plenty of spots.

I've been eating here since I was a kid. This place was renovated recently because there is a new owner. However, the cook is the same. Therefore, my favorite dish (Banh Beo) from here is still DELICIOUS! Soft and chewy. Only downside is that there are constant cigarette smokers standing outside and the smoke seeps in. I left here full but with my nose burning from the cigarette smoke.

    Vi H.

My bro got the BBH and I ordered the mi giant shrimps. I normally don't order anything other what the store is specialized in but I am glad I did. Both of our order is great!!! Will come back for more.

Broth was not so warm but has such clear clean taste. Can taste the aromatics more than the fish sauce in the broth; had a lot of celery like flavor. There were a couple of ribs in the broth with tender meat attached to it. I got the Nam Vang with egg noodles instead of rice noodles. The seasoning for the noodles had a slightly sweet sauce. Noodles itself was perfectly cooked, slight chew to it and not soggy. The dish had the sweet, salty, savory combo The egg rolls were on the smaller side but tightly packed with delicious ground pork. Crispy outside. Came with the slightly spicy sweet fish sauce with chili. The banh beo chen came in one small plate instead of little dipping sauce plates. It had minced shrimp (more like crumbles), friend pork rinds pieces, and green onions. I like that they used shrimp instead of mung bean paste. The steamed tapioca/rice cake base was also topped with fried pork rinds and fried shallots (tasted like smoky onipn rings). The combination of all the texture and taste was well balanced. Sweet, salty, umami.

I liked that the pate was warmed up with the rest of the dish, and the beef cubes were well seasoned, but they could have been more tender. We also got the fried chicken wings in garlic fish sauce. The flavor on the outside was great, but the breading was a bit dense and the inside needed more flavor. The service was great and they checked on us several times. There is also lots of blue monkey decor throughout to live up to the name.

The broth made a good first impression and clearly included many of the right spices, although it was also quite salty. As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. Overall, the meal was decent and had some good flavors, but the broth, meat, and service did not meet my expectations. I can understand why it is popular, but I would probably try another bún bò Huế spot next time.
