1. Ambiance and Environment The place was really aesthetic and clean still, with the equipment still in good condition compared to when it first opened. 2. Food and Drinks Pretty solid food still, even though I could tell the quality somewhat changed from the first time that I was here. It was filling, but I wouldn't say it's excellent now. 3. Service Really kind workers, and it's one of the great aspects at this location. The workers seem like they're college-aged, which may be a reason as to why they're very sympathetic with you when my friend and I were figuring out how to split our orders to not break our college pockets. 4. Pricing Average-priced offerings. Would be a decent choice if you'd like to share a roll between two people if want to reduce the price from ~$15 per person to ~$7 per person. 5. Bathroom Really clean! No notes. 6. Parking Parking can get quite hectic since it's at Campus Plaza and there are a lot of tight turns within the plaza. If you're a student, it would be better to just walk here or even take the Anteater Express. 7. Study-Friendly Features Given the location's proximity to the main UCI campus, it has the potential of being a good study space. However, I wouldn't recommend it given the lack of outlets and the fact that it's catered more towards dine-in eating. Really not a good sushi place. The rolls were ok not good. A little better quality than grocery store sushi. The spicy garlic edamame was so bland, the miso soup had 0 flavor , and the shrimp and vegetable tempura just tasted like it was drenched in oil. It just felt like bad quality overall. Jalapeño bomb too small for the price. The miso soup tastes like the smell of wet dog (idk hard to describe) and the cucumber salad has wasabi in it which would've been nice to know. My go to sushi restaurant in the area. Botan Sushi replaced KY Sushi, but they have been able to maintain the quality of the dishes that I liked. I will have to give some of the new dishes they added to the menu a try, though! I do recommend that they list the ingredients for their rolls on their website. I typically ordered from KY Sushi, now Botan, online and it's a bit hard to decide what to order based on pictures alone. The website may still be in the works, but an update in the future with the ingredients included in the descriptions would be appreciated! read more

This sushi spot could have been so good if they weren't so understaffed. I was tempted to leave 3 stars, but the food was good and the waitress was very kind. We came in on a Tuesday night and the waitress let us know we could sit anywhere we would like, but there were no available tables. There were 3 open tables, but they had not been cleaned and still had all the dishes from previous customers on them. We waited for her to clear the table and sat down. Besides the chef working with the fish, there seemed to just be 2 waitresses doing everything else including bussing tables, taking orders, delivering food, delivering checks, and running to the back kitchen for the warm foods. This left us waiting at our table for over 10 mins to order, and once we were done eating, we waited close to another 15 mins to receive our check. The table next to us even asked if we were supposed to go to the register to pay or keep waiting. Another thing is that the waitresses use a portable POS machine to take your payment right at your table, but this meant a lot of time was spent with the waitress stuck at a different table for a while, completing the entire checkout process while the restaurant was full of people who needed service. Besides that, our waitress was very kind and doing her best and the food was pretty good. The decor was really one of the best parts of this restaurant as well. Had they been staffed appropriately, our experience here would have been 5/5 stars. read more

The food was relatively good. I ordered their tempura shrimp roll which was good but it was 80% rice which threw me off. It would have been nice to have more filling than rice. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the chef even surprised us with a complimentary appetizer. The only downside was that the wait time for a table was longer than expected, about 30 minutes, but once seated, everything flowed smoothly. I went there for lunch. it was a great experience. the food price I have to say it is pretty reasonable. Maybe it is because near UCI. so, they try to attract more student to eat over there. I ordered some rolls and Sashimi. it was pretty good. the rolls I love the best is the lover roll, and the volcano baked roll and the spicy California roll. Sashimi has big pieces. I order 3 pieces salmon and tuna. they are thick pieces. I love it. my husband ordered their fry Chicken. it was spicy and crispy and inside is juicy. the inside looks pretty nice. they decorate very cute. i took some pictures to post on my social media. looks pretty nice. The service was great. especially the speed that they serve the food. I went there around 3pm. they brought my food pretty much within 10 mins. which is pretty amazing. Overall.
