    Baked lobster roll

Probably the best sushi I've ever had. The food and service were both absolutely amazing. The baked lobster roll was so good! Everyone was really sweet and friendly!

Cute clean restaurant with a sushi bar. Extensive menu with something for everyone. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a Saturday night. Just one party in front of us. The restaurant has ample seating with tables in addition to the sushi bar. Wait staff were friendly and the service was good overall. The bento and salmon bowl we ordered were good and comparable to other Japanese restaurants. I ordered the special blue crab and uni bowl. It was fresh and good quality, but portion was small. Prices here are higher than the average Japanese restaurant in LA. The overall quality is good though. I would come back and try other items from their large menu selection.

So many delicious sushi rolls! It was tough to just pick one, but we went with the Tiger Roll, and it was excellent, as were the baked green muscles. I love that they serve you a little bowl cinnamon sugar chips while you wait for your plates. There's so much more that we want to try next time! Just keep in mind that they close at 2pm, and reopen at 5pm for dinner. Also, their restroom, while clean, is not in the best shape. The tank lid anyway.

Great little hole in the wall. We stopped by here a couple months ago just out of curiosity. There is only a few tables taken on a Tuesday during dinner time. Server was prompt, and the food was delivered pretty quickly. Everything we had tasted delicious and was fresh. I recently brought some coworkers in for lunch on the company dime. And they loved it! We will definitely be back when we are in the local area. The owners are super sweet and you could tell they really care about their business. Plus the bear theme is adorable.

This is our favorite Friday night sushi spot! Our go to are Shrimp Killer, Sunrise, Put your Hands Up, Hot Night. The service is always great even when it packed in there and there are only two people waiting tables. We lost this spot and will keep it on rotation as a favorite date night location

Literally the best sushi place in ALL of OC for the money. But trust me, its worth it and not really more than a lot of other mediocre sushi places Quality you can taste, service with a smile, I'm their customer forever now

We were looking for a restaurant earlier in the week that's open late and this was convenient to us and had some good reviews. The rolls were decent but the soft shell crab appetizer had too much breading for my liking and the miso soup was watered down.

definitely worth the price! my boyfriend and i were making an impromptu date since i'm leaving for canada and won't be back till next week. randomly found this spot on google and since we were both craving sushi, thought to give it a try his bento lunch combo and my aloha roll came out to $55 + tip, so be prepared to spend some cash when you come to this upscale spot! tucked away on mcfadden, you can almost miss it. very hole in the wall with amazing promise. definitely will be back again!

Sushi bear is a hidden gem that I highly recommend if your around the area The ambiance is super laid back with a lot of seats so that won't be an issue . The restaurant is located in a fairly large shopping center so parking shouldn't be an issue . The service is also on point . They were very helpful especially considering this was my girlfriends and mine first time trying this location but overall check them two thumbs up!

We stopped by about an hour before closing. It was pretty empty, which made us hesitate at first -- but we're so glad we decided to go in! We ordered the Dragon Ball Z and the Burning Sensation rolls, and both were delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. I especially loved the smokiness in the Burning Sensation -- a unique touch I don't usually find at sushi restaurants. As a bonus, the complimentary chips were a nice surprise. They had a light cinnamon sweetness that made them quite addictive. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be coming back!

Spicy tuna crispy rice: other than our favorite sushi place that sadly closed, this one was the best we've ever had. The crispy rice patty is fairly flat, which is way better and offers far superior crunch than the thick ones. "New style" salmon sashimi with white truffle: delightful. This place nickel and dimes customers for everything. We were charged $6 just to add cucumber to a roll, $4 to add gobo, and even an extra charge to add lemon. The biggest issue wasn't even the prices, it was that our waiter never mentioned any of these upcharges when we ordered. If you're going to charge premium prices for simple additions, customers deserve to be told beforehand. We've eaten at countless sushi restaurants over the years, and we've never been charged these kinds of fees for basic add-ons, especially without any warning. It felt deceptive and left a terrible impression. Restaurants don't lose customers over a few dollars. They lose them when customers feel misled. Transparent pricing builds trust. Hidden charges destroy it. We won't be coming back, and unfortunately, we can't recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an honest dining experience.

All three portions were a good size, and we were able to share everything between three people. The udon noodles were so chewy and delicious! Nabeyaki Udon: This was my favorite! The broth was very light and clean, and it wasn't too sweet. You can get the tempura on the side, which I recommend because it does get soggy in the broth. Would definitely get this again. Spicy Beef Udon: Not spicy at all, but it had a lot beef and lots of flavor. This is a good option if you're looking to try another udon dish from here. Inaka Soba: We wanted to try a dry noodle and soba, so we got it cold. You can choose between hot and cold. It was refreshing and looked very healthy, with lots of vegetables and good flavor. Personally, I wouldn't get this again because I prefer the udon here. Overall, really good spot! It does get busy, especially around dinner time. The udon quality is spot on and the service is great. Orange Roll & Sushi 139…read more Located just across from Oliboli Donuts with them sharing the same parking lot amongst other tenants I can see this parking lot getting pretty crowded. We arrived at 8pm on a Sat, luckily there was no wait which after eating the food I was surprised there was no wait, maybe because they close at 930 and I am sure there is a last call. This next part is coming from someone who has been to Japan and experienced restaurants out there. When we first got inside we were greeted by all staff, including the ones hidden behind the counter, the first thing that came to my mind was the feeling of being back in Japan just a little bit bigger. Very cozy and intimate it really put that feeling of "hey you can relax, we got you". Easily my mind being transported back here with some people sitting in the restaurant, glad they left not to long after we were sat down. They have a good amount of choices and as I always say sushi restaurants with pictures in their menu is always such a W, our eyes eat first. What we ordered, we first started with sake and went with Kikusui which is always really smooth specially chilled. What I loved about here, was they come with a big round plate and let you choose your sake vessel, as you can tell from my photos we choose the ones with the little fish in them, that was a first and really stood out. First that came were the sushi pairs: Seared Tuna With Garlic Chips: Lightly seared but just the right amount, same goes with the rice vessel, it wasn't too much or too little. Very good and fresh tuna, that sear gave the tuna a very nice texture, the comes the crunch from the garlic chips. Very nice flavor bomb! Albacore: Delicious and fresh, really made me excited for the rolls coming up. Peppered Albacore With Garlic Chips: I forgot I had this after trying just the albacore by itself so I got excited that I didn't have to wait for the rolls. And this did not disappoint, the peppered part of the dish had just the right of a double jab of Cajun and smoky, which paired perfectly with the albacore, then randomly ghost punch of garlic with those crispy garlic chips. If they had all you can eat, oh man there would be never a time I didn't have this in front of me. In my pictures there was a peppered salmon with fresh onions, my wifes sister ordered this so I didn't get to try but she said it was really good and fresh. Our sushi rolls came out and AIYAH what kind of reviewer forgets to take a photo of an item. Sitting sadly in the bokeh distance we did order a: Stinky Roll - Which was your regular sushi roll but topped with Albacore, fresh onion and garlic butter. As mentioned above, everything was delicious and fresh, I don't like onions so to me I was questioning where is the stank, I love garlic and dipping it into the garlic butter was different but good. It was overall a good roll but this would be last amongst what we ordered. O.C. Roll: Shrimp Tempura, spicy tuna avocado inside topped with fresh salmon and lemon slices. This can go two ways for people, in example I ate the two end pieces as they are and it was delicious, then when I went for a middle piece, if you eat the lemon slice, that part will explode and with a sharp sour or bitter taste that like I said some people love or some don't. I probably had a small piece of the lemon on the corner pieces, so for me I took the slices off and it was still a fantastic roll. Autumn Roll: My favorite amongst the rolls, Spicy Tuna, avo, cilantro and cucumber inside, topped with peppered salmon and albacore. Just an umami explosion, lil heat from the spicy tuna, then comes the smoky cajun, it was really good and I was seriously holding back the urge to just take the plate and not share with my wife and her sister. Lastly was my favorite dish: Spicy tuna on crispy rice: I always order this at sushi places and this can easily make or break a place for me. When it arrived I was very questioned, big piece of avo, a good mountain shaped amount of spicy tuna, the shape of it being round was throwing me off. Most places either cute them into a rectangle or even square, my first bite crunch was def there, but it was a sticky inside the crispy rice boat that took a little to separate to get the piece in the mouth. But WAIT A MINUTE, that sticky inside mixed well with the crispy exterior, the rice had flavor and honestly gave me almost like a crunchy mochi vibe. It was different but that's where it set them apart from others I have had. Everything on the vessel was delicious like others, but adding what they did to their crispy rice made me really enjoy and still even as I write this is contender to one of my favorite Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice dishes. In conclusion, I find us coming here on a good rotation in the vast choices of sushi restaurant! (didnt know there was a text cap SORRY!!) Feast Well Fellow Yelpers! From walnut,…read moreHollywood, Irvine and now in Tustin, with their addition of a new concept compared to the other three. Ootoro Bar in Tustin is mostly bar style seating which it's targeting the new concept of a Sushi Handroll bar with maybe 4 to 5 four-top booths. They have their traditional menu similar to the other restaurants, but they have a Handroll menu with options of 3,4,5,6, or 7 Handroll sets. They also offer a sushi set similar to an Omakase set. With the 5, 6, or 7 Handroll sets, they offer a spicy set or a non-spicy set. If what you choose is still not enough or you want something that is not part of the various sets, they offer a la carte handroll's or you can make them into a 4 piece cut roll. If you aren't sure how much you can eat, they are willing to upgrade your choice. For instance you start with the 5 Handroll set, but later decide you want two more, they can change you 5 Handroll set to the 7 handroll's snd basically give you the two handroll's you have not gotten as part of the 7 HR set. For myself, I initially went with the 5 Spicy HR set but I wanted one last one. Instead of switching to the 6 HR set, I just ordered the Eel + cucumber a la carte Hand roll. The nice thing about the Hand roll concept is they make each Hand roll one at a time and since it's a bar set up, they give it to you immediately so One the seaweed is still crispy and two, the rice is warm. Their lunch combos or lunch plates are still offered even at the bar and are still a great value as what we have been used to for the many years we have been coming to Ootoro Sushi. As this location is further from us, unless they adopt the Hand roll set menu at the other locations, I'll come here again to break up menu fatigue. Staff here are just as friendly as Walnut. The Irvine and Hollywood locations I think deal with a whole different dynamic of clientele.
