Large Pork Rice Bowl
Jonathan B.

Still my favorite tonkotsu spot! Whether it's the rich tonkotsu or the always filling rice bowls, HiroNori is always a hit. The service is always great, it's fast-casual-ish, mostly outdoor seating filled with office workers, but the servers will still walk around and make sure you have everything you need. Also, always get the free garlic sauce!

CRISPY RICE WITH SPICY TUNA

High quality ramen in a business plaza, from the renowned HiroNori team. It's easy to overlook the small shop from the outside, especially being tucked behind a communal outdoor seating area for diners of the various establishments here. Easy to park in the large shared parking lot. As others mention, there's only a few tables inside, but if you find a seat outside (each of the tables has umbrella coverage), the staff will bring and bus your food after you place your order inside. The drinks seemed a little gimmicky to me, but our target was definitely the ramen. We sampled the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna just to whet our appetites, and this was a nice texture bomb but nothing spectacular. The ramen however - definitely worthy of 5 stars. My Shoyu broth was umami but balanced and clean. Tonkotsu was rich and creamy. Perfect comfort food. The katsu was a tad overcooked in both bowls, but the noodles and jammy egg were perfect. I'm jealous of people who have the option to eat here on a regular basis!

This is one of my favorite comfort meals in orange county! The service here is unmatched they are so sweet and always making sure you're okay and that everything is exactly how you like it! The broth is so nice and creamy and I could eat this everyday if I could!

This restaurant is close to where I worked and I have been here many times. I always get the tonkatsu ramen and have never been disappointed. This location gave me slightly better cuts of meat than their other locations as well. Service is quick and friendly and I love the outdoor seating option. It's always so nice to sit outside here. I also got the crispy rice tuna and it is so delicious! Parking is relatively easy although can get a little crowded.

The staff immediately greeted me as soon as we entered the premises! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was packed inside but there are plenty more spaces and tables outside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious! And my kids enjoyed the Tonkotso Ramen and the crispy Crab cakes!!!

Loved trying this! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is small but has lots of outdoor seating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has a bathroom for customers and lots of parking (free lot). This is also a cashless place. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen and Spicy Tuna Cripsy Rice which were both genuine hits. Service was super nice and always checked in:)

Tonkatsu Ramen was delicious! The noodles were thick and broth was so flavorful. The chashu pork was sooo good too! Service was quick and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small on the inside, but there is outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would come back again for a quick bite.

TONKOTSU RAMEN, "strawberry" matcha latte with boba
Jade L.

This place was so incredibly mid that I haven't forgotten about it even though I initially overlooked writing a review for it after I dined in. Whenever I think about bad ramen in SoCal, this place invariably lands within the top 3 spots. Since HiroNori is a chain, I would expect that means the ramen has been perfected, but in my experience, it's the exact opposite. The ramen here tasted cheap, as if it were churned out on a conveyor belt. The matcha was definitely not ceremonial grade. It lacked the green vibrancy of good quality matcha, and the strawberry puree was the most off-putting brown color. It seemed as if the batch of puree was really old because of how much the fruit had oxidized.

SHOYU RAMEN

The second HiroNori I have been to and it is just as good as the first. The ramen is very delicious with a nice and short simple menu. The tonkotsu ramen is rich and flavorful with nice portions. You line up and order at the counter and the friendly staff bring out the food to your table.

This is phenomenal ramen! Got the tonkotsu and added tofu, garlic, and spicy. 10/10. Broth was thick and flavorful. Thick noodles. Loved it. Will be back!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small seating inside but a lot outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good.

CHICKEN RICE BOWL (L)

Sunday lunch. Was very surprised to see the plaza not as crowded as it usually is during the weekday. Found parking easily. No wait. Friendly and attentive staff. Food came out quite fast and was delicious. Tried the pork rice bowl and it was very flavorful and filling. I really enjoyed the hot sauce too. Til next time!

We were feeling pretty lazy so we ordered in but HiroNori did not disappoint! I love their chashu rice bowl! The egg is perfect to mix around with the rice as well as the chashu! Their complimentary spicy sauce is also such a a highlight when it came to adding more flavors into the bowl. My partner ordered their shoyu ramen with added tofu and she mentioned how delicious the broth was. I got to try some of the broth with chashu and I was blown away by the flavor!

Tonkatsu ramen
Uyen L.

My friend and I shared a bowl of tonkatsu ramen and one portion of crispy chicken. The chicken was crispy and juicy which was my fav part of this dinner. The sauce for the chicken was a garlic sauce I think. The tonkatsu ramen was very tasty (8/10 for me). There was indoor seating and outdoor seating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor tables were kind of dirty but the atmosphere was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Delicious ramen!!! The broth was so rich with flavor.

HiroNori Craft Ramen Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - HiroNori Craft Ramen

Is this place dog friendly?

There's plenty of outdoor seating where I've seen families with dogs.

Do you have half portion ramen?

Yes :)

Clarify the 16% charge? You say it's NOT a tip, but it does replace other tipping? Would my server get the same if I left a 16% tip instead? Someone said when they removed it they got charged a different fee? Not complaining, sincerely confused.

It will be a 10% service charge they do not have 16%. And yes if the tip is removed and you decide to add the same percentage amount it will still go to staff. If it's removed it'll be just the state taxes that are added. Hope this helps !

Are you gonna be open for the 2022 Christmas and the 2023 New Year?

Why wouldn't they be.

Do they have pork free broth options like Chicken, Fish, or Beef?

Yes they have chicken and vegan broth!

Are there any gluten free noodle option?

No gluten free noodles, but for a substitute you can get rice or bean sprouts if you prefer that

Do they have extra noodle option?

Yes they do!!

Any gluten free options?

No of course not.

Do you have a gluten free version of the Tonkotsu?

No why would they.

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

It's a little tight inside too with the tables located near each other. We came on a Monday during the lunch hour. We originally had plans to eat somewhere else, but it was too long of a wait and we decided to have Ramen instead. I think due to our party of six, it was a little harder to be seated, but it wasn't a big deal. We checked in and we were informed by Justin that it wouldn't take too long for our table to be ready as the other family who was at the larger table was already eating their food. Great! We meandered around in the center and walked inside Daiso and Mitsuwa market and already thinking about where we would be eating next time. We received a text when our table was ready about 30 minutes later. The nice lady who took our order was friendly, sweet, smiling and made us feel welcomed. We all ended up ordering different Ramen bowls, and curry with rice. We also shared the large fried chicken and furikake french fries. I'll have to try that at home next time! Everyone enjoyed their choices. I tried the light Kitakata ramen this time because I usually always get miso or Tonkotsu. The light broth was easier for me to handle and I was able to adjust the spice level with condiments on the table. I also used some of the chili spices from my family members. As usual, the chewy bouncy noodles were enjoyed by everyone. We will be back!

It's really sad because they have really good food but the service ( specifically her) is terrible and it soured our mood. People come to the restaurant to enjoy the food but she has such a bad attitude because she is not happy in her life.
