Favorite chicken ramen in the area - i haven't found any other ramen place with chicken ramen that comes with chicken breast this good in OC! I love the chicken paitan DX as it comes with a grilled chicken leg which is also tasty, and it's a really good deal. Just gotta make sure to get there either for lunch or really early for dinner, as they tend to run out of the chicken legs by dinner time, especially on the weekend. The gyoza here is also decent. Very Disppointing Treatment of a Service Dog We have been frequent customers of Marufuku Ramen in Irvine, because we genuinely enjoy their ramen, sometimes eating here almost every other day. Unfortunately, after what happened today I am extremely;y disappointed with the customer service of a waitress. Because it was very hot outside, I asked to dine inside with my service dog and my son, " without even asking me the appropriate questions first. I found it inappropriate and upsetting that she simply decided on her own that my dog was not a service animal.. "she presumed" She then asked for a service dog certificate. Service Dogs in the US. are not required to carry a special certificate or identification. Nevertheless I even showed her my dogs US DOT Service Animal Air Transpotation Form that i use for the air travel. After seeing it, she told me, "Okay next time when you come back, I will let you in!!! (Do you really think we will go back to eat ramen with your atrocious customer service???). and she continued by saying, if she is not there, I would have to explain or show it again to someone else. why should a regular customer have to repeatedly go through this every time we eat in this restaurant??? We came here because we love the ramen and became loyal customers, , sadly good food does not make up for being made too feel unwelcome or having a legitimate service dog questioned in this manner. Marufuku Ramen should properly train its staff regarding service animals and how customers with service dogs should be treated. I've had 3 meals here during my stay and just love that milky pork broth ramen that is their favorite dish. The noodles are thin, just as I prefer them, and cooked to perfection. I usually prefer shoyu ramen but I couldn't get enough of this pork broth ramen. The gyoza was just OK, but we ordered a really delicious shrimp tempura that was served in a bao bun, a must order. On my last evening we ordered bentos. The bentos come with a small bowl of ramen, nice bonus. My GF had the chicken Katsu bento which was tasty. We came upon this spot by accident but am glad we found it. The takoyaki was hot and fresh! It was delicious. I got the special tenten ramen which was really good. I'm the spice level on that one is set so no adjustments can be made. I like spicy food and i couldn't used a bit more spice. The food is good but I docked 1 star for service. It took quite a while to get our ramen and we were trying to make eye contact with a server for a good 10 minutes to get our check. It was pretty busy and it is a new business. Their veggie ramen broth was creamy and very flavorful. We got 'Spicy' (the last being 'Very Spicy'). Quite a few veggies in the ramen but would have loved it if it came with a few more like bamboo shoots and corn. You can order extras of those. The spinach noodles in the ramen had a very nice chewy texture. The ramen was topped with greens which became soggy and killed the texture of the dish. But overall, would definitely go back for the ramen. Their Brussels sprouts tempura comes with soy sauce and matcha salt - a very nice addition to the dish that really paired well. Really a 4.5 star. Came on New Years Eve 2025. Firstly, the tonkatsu pork belly ramen was great, if not excellent! Noodles were nicely al dente and the broth was rich and satisfying. Toppings were also plentiful and fresh. However, the DX version was a bit stingy with just 1 additional thick cut pork belly on top. At least, when compared with the DX chicken paitan, which came with a whole leg quarter on a sizzling teppanyaki! Yet, as amazing as the chicken quarter looked, the taste of the leg itself was a bit of a letdown too. The sweet ponzu sauce was lathered generously on top, but the meat itself didn't have flavor, so I guess it wasn't marinated in it. And it was also a bit overcooked. So based on that, I'd say neither of the DX options were worth it. I must reiterate though, that both ramens themselves WERE worth it. And worth revisits. The soft egg was absolutely perfectly executed. One of the best I've seen. And a whole egg at that, not just a half. We also received stellar customer service. Tonkotsu broth was pretty flavorful and the right amount of rich without being overwhelming, with mild providing a very...well, mild kick. I'm not the biggest fan of Hakata-style ramen noodles, but they did well to hold the flavor of the broth. Pork was fine. Solid bowl, nothing special to me. Staff here were friendly, no complaints. Came here for the first time after a friend's recommendation. When I first walked in, the hostess was busy on the phone so I just checked into the tablet for yelp. I sat inside by the chairs waiting for her to call us or acknowledge us, but she kept herself busy. We then saw other people who had checked in after us just tell the hostess they're going to just sit in the empty seats in the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't full, so we thought we'd be seated quickly, so when she sat people who came in after us, we realized they don't even check the yelp check in, you just need to ask them to be seated. When we finally got seated, nobody came to get our orders too. We waited for a while until we were able to flag down a servers attention to finally put in our orders. The ramen itself was mediocre, definitely better ramen spots in Irvine. The broth was a little too salty and the ramen noodles itself are thin, not your typical thicker chewy ramen noodles. They have excellent gluten-free noodles, ample choices of food and drink, and pleasant service. Their prices sit in a completely standard range for this type of food and are not too expensive. A bowl of Ramen with gluten-free noodles for one and a bottle of iced unsweetened green tea was in the $20s. The space is small, but very clean.
