Coffee review: The Market at Botanic - Ambiance/Vibe: this shop is one of my tops when it comes to the cute vibe they have. It has an elevated outdoor and indoor seating area. No matter where you sit, you are surrounded by nature: - Coffee: I really enjoyed the coffee, but I will say their flavors are made in house. This makes them a bit stronger than the average. I tried two of the specialty lattes, Lavander and Coconut as well as the Rose and Honey previously. If I got the same ones again I would go a little lighter on the floral notes. This is not to say they weren't delicious. They were just a little more potent for me. - Food: The food I tried was delicious. I had one of their cannolis first, and then I tried one of their orange rolls. The zest on the roll hit just perfect. - Prices: I will say this spot is a little more upscale, as is the restaurant attached to it. This means they are a bit higher in cost than most in the area. However, all of their products are made locally or in house, you can tell. - Staff: The staff was extremely friendly and great at helping with decisions when unsure. - Merch: As this is a market, as well as coffee shop, there is quite a bit of branded merch such as hats and shirts. There are also other non branded items that include: snacks, pies, jams, some food related books, and much more. Overall, I would give this shop a 4/5 's, and I absolutely would return. Enjoyed the best Sunday brunch buffet in the state on 3/15/2026. Hard to belief this place is in Opelika, AL. I concur with the other reviewer who said "It's what rain forest cafe was going for." We had a seat near the Window, overlooking the small lake and walking path. Buffets can be "hit or miss," but Botanic is a grand slam. We tried most everything offered. The biscuits were excellent, eggs were perfect. Fried chicken was tender with great flavor. Potatoes, roast beef, ham, grits...they have it all. Waffles and toppings were excellent. Our server was helpful and polite. He had an easy job since the food was so good, and we were so pleased. Can't wait to return! read more

The vibes were immaculate!! We first walked in and were greeted by beautiful majestic plants - something out of a story book. Very beautiful! We got the salmon and my boyfriend got the lamb shank. This is the most unique place I have ever had dinner. Set in the middle of a beautiful nursery is a giant building with tall windows and multiple dining room rooms and bars. There's an outdoor patio by a lake and the service and the food are impeccable. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our dinner at botanic! I ordered the airline chicken and my husband ordered the chicken fried chicken. The food was outstanding. Everything was plated wonderfully and the portion sizes were perfect. Our waiter, Dolan, was great! He was very friendly and he congratulated us on a life event we came to celebrate that night. I am still distraught over my trip to Botanic today. I work with the public on a daily basis as a home care hospice nurse. The lack of respect from an employee, well that's sometimes just kinks in hiring process, but poor service and terrible manners from a manager (a SON of the owners)... absolutely mind blowing. Here's the facts of sub-par service at this establishment. I made reservations more than a month ago for a special birthday for my two friends who have never been. They were both so excited. Arrive 5 minutes early. Problem #1- asked to sit on porch area, but were told "those seats are reserved", I found this odd as I was never provided an option on picking a table, but decided not to question as this was an enjoyable day and was trying to be understanding. Lo and behold a friend walked in and was seated at porch table, so asked how she got to pick this table as I would certainly love to pick next visit. She stated, "I didn't request the table, they just seated us here". Problem #2- extremely slow service. When waitress finally arrived were asked about drink orders. I asked for a drink menu as we were never provided. She brought one and then stood over the table as we all had to squeeze together to flip through as she said she only had one for the table. Problem #3- the manager (K. Braswell- owners son) came to our table before I even received my debit card back from paying our almost 200.00 bill... he said, "Sure you ladies are trying to save the worlds problems, but I have others who have reservations so I need you to move this conversation to the couches". I was speechless! He ushered us off and I just stood outside stunned. He had to run out to give me back my debit card. He said he'd go find my friend who was clearly upset and try to make right by "free drinks". As he walked in the door, he rubbed shoulders with her and said nothing. She went back in to discuss concerns and let him know she had made reservations for her and her mother, but felt needed to cancel due to such poor service. Manager replied, "you never have to come back here". Basically good riddance. As i mentioned ... behavior like this from an employee, not acceptable, but not as flooring as a manager who's the son of owners. I will never return. I get better treatment at McDonald's. Lagrange has very nice wineries with 5 star treatment. Pabellas and Nutwood. The most beautiful ambiance. We also have great greenhouses like Adlees. There are many more options where you can spend 200.00 and walk away feeling more blessed than when you walked in. I truly feel this establishment is more concerned with money they get from you versus the customer experience. To kick you out before you even receive your debit card back... WOW! Do not waste your time or money at a place who clearly doesn't care one smidget for you as a customer. Shameful! read more

I was home visiting and heard about this place and decided to give it a try. I made reservations via Resy. The earliest available was 1:15, which was later than desired. So I also selected the option to be notified if anything opened up earlier. Additionally, one of the perks of being an AMEX Platinum cardholder and having Global Dining Access privileges, is having priority for notifications of any openings. Consequently, we hoped for the best, arrived at Botanica at approximately 10:50 am and checked in. I also disclosed we would like to be seated earlier if something became available (just to be certain). We sat in the bar area and ordered drinks. Some time passed when I approached the bar manager to ensure we were on the list for next available and were assured we were. Nonetheless, we went on to wait and still were not seated by 1:05 pm. I do realize that the reservation was not until 1:15. However, I have a hard time believing NOTHING became available for a party of two between 10:50 am and 1:05 pm. Yet and still, this is not my major complaint. It was the fact that we were not acknowledged or checked on although we watched several other parties come and go in the bar area and they were both acknowledged and asked if everything was okay. This is why we ultimately decided to leave ahead of our reservation. Lastly, the coup de gras was finding out that the person who I witnessed quickly avert her gaze and overlook me (because I intentionally attempted to make eye contact) was of all people, THE OWNER. And to add insult to injury, after bringing this to the attention of the owner and having a conversation, she apologized for "not paying attention" and did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. She did not offer or ask anything but, "So, this means you do not want to be seated for your reservation?" This is awful customer service and overall unacceptable. the owner was flippant and dismissive. I'd be more upset if on the way to the restroom I hadn't gotten a glimpse of the lackluster dining area or while waiting hadn't read reviews describing the food as "no better than a budget friendly hotel breakfast" (Thank God for small favors). However what I will say is, Garret the bartender was phenomenal. He definitely mitigated the almost 2 hour and 15 minute wait with his fabulous cocktails and friendly conversation. He literally was the only reason why we stayed as long as we did. Needless to say, we went elsewhere and enjoyed our Sunday evening and I suggest you do the same. read more
