My littles get up early as it is, but with the added factor of jetlag, one kiddo woke up at 6 a.m. almost every day of our New Orleans visit, no matter how late she stayed up. We spent a lot of time wandering Marigny in the early hours, encountering some of the nicest, most polite unhomed people I've ever met, and tracking down just about every establishment that opened its doors before 10 a.m. Despite what it says, St. Roch market doesn't really open at 7 a.m. Maybe the big front doors are unlocked then, but there's no sign of life at any of the businesses within until much later. After stopping by at 7:15 a.m. and then 8:15 a.m. on a weekday morning, we gave up. The kind Jehovah's Witnesses having a sit-down in the quiet market suggested that we try next door at Botanicals instead. It was a great suggestion. Fruit and sea moss rich drinks and dishes abound, and I believe the entire menu is vegan. They have vegan waffles on offer, avocado toast, açaí bowls. We chose the açaí bowl with three different fruit toppings. The creamy, frozen, pureed açaí was sorbet-like -- perfect in the warm, humid weather -- and fruit toppings were fresh and sweet. The young woman who was working at the counter was quite courteous -- far nicer than I usually am that early. Service 10/10 as always. I've been a customer since their previous location and I love that this one is more spacious and chill... parking in front of the establishment or on the corners. I even went across the street & got a turkey Sandwhich from the market. I recommend the sea moss gel capsules. The gel is great but I can't swallow it without gagging. My daughters and I intentionally support a BOB as often as we can, and this weekend's pick was today at Botanicals Nola. I had very high hopes going in because eating clean and green is my go-to, and they did not disappoint. The venue is conveniently located, has a great vibe, friendly staff, great customer service, and my order lived up to my expectations. The pictures posted are of a fruit bowl- Dat Fiya Pitaya, and 2 vegan muffins-a Chantilly and a blueberry. I also bought a fresh pressed juice- carrot- which I could clearly tell wasn't cut with anything. I could taste the ginger, which I appreciated. The place was full the whole time and the line was to the door most of the time, so be prepared to wait because majority of the items are freshly prepared, which is obviously a good thing. Also, major key- {DJ Khaled voice} the man who I believed to be the owner continuously acknowledged the line, saying that someone would be with them shortly. This constant acknowledgement clearly showed that he appreciated his customers. He also pulled someone from the back to replace him at the register, and in turn started helping his staff prepare orders when the line got really long. I particularly value quality customer service equally to a good product, so those observations were huge plusses for me. I will definitely be a repeat customer. P.S. Pitaya is basically dragon fruit which I had no idea until I googled it today while in line It tastes similar to a pear, so it is a good base. read more

This place is an entire VIBE y'all. I took a quick lunch break to try them out and it was totally worth it. I ordered the "Yeah with the Yeah" smoothie in 12oz ($7.95) and the Almond Berry toast (1 slice/$3.95). My only complaint is I should have ordered the 16oz smoothie because it was so delicious. The sea moss doesn't have an after taste and the fruit flavor combinations were spot on. The toast was delicious. Thick nutty bread covered in almond butter, mixed berries, agave and coconut flakes. So why you ask the 4 stars and not 5? Well they are a newly opened business so all the menu items weren't available yet. There was only two cold pressed juice options available out of the 7-8 choices that were listed. Additionally there needed to be a little more guidance on the ordering and paying process.
