I'm in love! This Vegan Gem is a must-try! I truly love the ambiance and decor of this Cafe. The Tumeric Ginger Latte was my drink of choice and absolutely delicious! I love how it was steeped fresh and full of flavor. I truly loved the Rainbow Tostadas The beauty of the colors is what captures your attention. Every savored bite captures the tastes of the raw and fresh vegetable's. This was my first time trying golden beets and I loved them! I enjoyed conversing with Diane, one of the owners. First time coming here, and I was pleasantly surprised with them being gluten free! Being a gluten sensitive girly, it's not often that I go to a coffee shop and have many options. Much less good gluten-free options that I would order again AND pay for. This blueberry lemon bread was so freaking good y'all!! It doesn't even taste gluten-free. SO GOOD. I also really liked the mug they served my cortado in. Seems like a lot of people come here and work on their computer. Very clean. I don't live in this area so probably won't frequent here, but whenever I'm on this side of town, I'll definitely be back! Wow. This is the kind of food I CRAVE. Perhaps because they are not fully vegan, Lamara did not show up on my google searches for vegan food when I was initially planning my trip to New Orleans. (They are vegetarian; some items include cheese, eggs, or honey.) I was lucky to discover Lamara on a handy list of veg-friendly spots posted at Breads on Oak. As soon as I browsed the menu at Lamara, I was infatuated. They are seed oil-free and refined sugar free; they do use coconut oil and olive oil in most dishes, but minimal amounts. They go out of their way to bake many components of their hot dishes such as tortillas, tofu, and potatoes, in order to minimize oil. So many fascinating items like homemade adzuki bean bacon. After much deliberation (since I only had the time for a light meal), I ordered the rainbow tostadas, made with refried pinto beans, oil-free cashew cilantro cream, spiralized yellow beets, romaine, purple cabbage, and avocado on baked corn tortillas. Visually stunning, impeccably fresh, and low in salt (but high in flavor). Impressive. I also had a hot chocolate with their homemade oil-free almond milk; delicious, and quite reasonably priced at only $4. I took the raw protein bites to go (oil-free, with almond butter). Great little treat that I would definitely get again. I'm basically obsessed with everything this place has to offer, and had a difficult time not ordering one of everything on the menu. In addition, the staff were extremely patient and helpful in answering my many questions about ingredients. They made it easy for me to make the right choices for my diet. I've been to this place many times, and you know what the service has never been friendly but I worked in service for a long time so I get it, and most times I don't even need friendly. But my last trip here the service was just so incredibly rude, I was ignored even though two workers were hovering close to the counter, for one of my questions the server left and I watched her walking around and helping others but this held up my ordering for around 6 minutes, when she finally made it back to finish my order her attitude towards me was rude, cold, and awful, when I want back to my table of friends I told them 'wow, she hates me'- I'm Black so I always start to process my negative experiences from that lens first but here in the comments I'm gleaming she might just be this way to everyone. I didn't feel like I could eat my food in there after I ordered because I was so put off and in my head about if I'd done something wrong. Though I love the food and appreciate what they stand for I haven't been back since and can't really dig up the urge to go through the treatment again. read more

We chose this place from brunch while visiting New Orleans. We are both vegan, so loved that they had plenty of vegan options. I really wanted to love this place, but I was underwhelmed. The inside was bright and clean. The staff was friendly. The menu looked great. The service was a bit slow. The friendly staff spent a lot of time chatting with everyone - which is nice when there's not a long line... My turmeric latte took a while, and I had to ask about it. My husband's green smoothie was good. Our food came out quick enough. I got the tostadas and my husband had the vegan burrito in a bowl. My tostada was meh. It was a lot of raw veggies with what tasted like canned beans and guacamole. Looking at other pics just before writing this, it appears I was supposed to get a sauce which would have helped with flavor tremendously. I came to Lamara one morning while waiting for an appointment nearby and I loved it. It's bright inside, there's ample amount of seating, the food was so good and I loved their cold brew coffee. The service was super nice, top notch! There were people eating, working, reading-- all the different vibes, but it worked! Their wifi was reliable for the hour I was there too. This place is so militant about creating the least amount of environmental impact when it comes to waste. Which upon coming here the first time - is fine. I get it. Catering to vegan and vegetarian focus, also fine. I used to be one. Small portions but the food was decent. But the owner of this place is so rude - the same petite brunette with black glasses that everyone else on here is talking about (glad to see I'm not the only one who felt this way) sits in the corner of the restaurant and monitors a camera in the back of the building to micromanage the parking. We parked a model 3 sedan along the fence that wasn't signed for no parking, not blocking a driveway. We even checked after we had parked as we're conscientious people. She interrupted our meal to come tell us (individually) to move our car because we were too close to the driveway behind us and they would have "a difficult time taking a left into their parking lot" that had an opening probably at least 20' wide. She wanted us to move the car to the front of the building, that would actually fully block a driveway or violate city parking restrictions! I wound up having to park blocks away and walking back to my meal that had been sitting on the table because of her. Heres a news flash. Maybe if you're worried about waste and environmental impact you shouldn't leave your garbage piled up in the middle of the street as we could have parked there instead. Pretentious. I could deal with it in the eatery, but when you sit there and micromanage parking outside your establishment around the piles of trash you having laying in the street, you need to get over yourself hypocrite. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Lamara. Service was super fast and the employees had no problem guiding my party and I through the menu and giving their own food suggestions. My go to has definitely become the BLAT sandwich, it is oh so tasty and flavorful, my food literally lasted 10 seconds on my plate. I did sample the Lamara Burger and it is definitely tasty, but the texture isn't my favorite it's a bit squishy, which is definitely understandable considering the ingredients. I also am a dessert person so it was a must that I tried their chocolate bars, which are super rich. My favorite was the chocolate hazelnut, the others had more of a coconut flavor which I personally didn't care for compared to the hazelnut. Most of them are made with Oatly, which is just fine by me. My chai was not large, but did have a nice round flavor. The burrito I got was vegan and came with a tomatillo sauce. It was fresh and tasty, but again not large. And while you're not winning on portion size for price, I think the real point here is to sit and stay a while, as they have a large indoor space and a lovely outdoor one; it was not the nicest day when I visited but more days than not in NOLA it'll be viable. Super, super, super cute spot! I hadn't been to Lamara before but had heard through the grapevines this was one place worth exploring. Woah was everyone right. Lamara is situated off of Broad Street so there is neighborhood parking on one of the side streets. What I loved was the openness the coffee shop has and it's so airy and bright with all the natural light coming in. If you look to the left you'll notice an iconic Luna Botanical moss wall, which is so soothing and calming tbh. There is a fun mural in-between the bathrooms that is a perfect photo-op and you can still snag a few photos in their outdoor space. I really loved the breakfast at this cute little place in NOLA. There was lots of street parking in the area and a very busy place called Tastee on the corner down the block where I parked. The inside of the restaurant was so clean. Everything was white and open, and if you're a big fan of sunlight, there are windows that let in tons of light. Green plants grew in every corner, adding to the healthy aura of the place. They had organic and natural products for sale in addition to the healthy menu. I cannot eat gluten and was so happy they had a grain-free waffle made with almond flour, which is what I cook and bake with at home. This was the menu description: GRAIN FREE WAFFLE (contains egg) Almond flour | toasted pecans | | Vermont maple syrup | fresh fruit I also ordered a side of the pastured scrambled eggs. At this restaurant, you order at the cash, and the girl taking my order was very friendly and helpful. The food was so good and very fresh. I also didn't have to wait very long for it to come out of the kitchen. I'm not a huge fruit person and usually just eat my waffles with syrup, but I made myself eat the fruit this time, and it was very good. Incredible syrup, and the eggs were delicious, very fluffy. The coffee was very good also. It's very nice to be able to eat a breakfast you feel so good about. Lamara proves that healthy can be perfectly delicious. The only criticism I can offer is that they need cushions in the chairs, which were a tad uncomfortable. Otherwise, I will certainly return to this bright and airy space that offers a waffle I don't feel guilty about eating afterward. Stopped in here for breakfast as my friend was raving about it and it didn't disappoint! Everything is vegan/vegetarian and they have gluten free substitutions. We got the Breakfast Burrito and the West Coast toast with an Egg. The breakfast burrito was one of the best I've had in a very long time. It's not your standard eggs/potatoes kind of burrito. It has a potato poblano hash, but it also purple cabbage and some greens (maybe spinach or collards?) that add such a good texture and freshness to it. You can also get their homemade hot sauce on the side (which is so good and spicy) but you don't really need it as the hash has a good spice already. We also got it on a gluten free coconut wrap which was amazing! They figured out how to make the wrap perfect and crispy toasted. Next time we're back to Nola, would absolutely come back to try some of their other food! read more

I live within walking distance of Lamara, and have been there a lot over the past two years. I have spent time there meeting socially with friends, for work meetings, and for remote work -- even though it is *very* expensive. The portion sizes are small -- I usually get the Surfer's Breakfast -- and they are fine. The food is good, but there is much, *much* better food at countless places nearby -- spots where the owner and staff are friendly, warm, welcoming, and who truly create a sense of community spirit. On at least three occasions I walked up to the counter to order and the owner + staff were either right in front of me, behind the counter working on something, or they were within eyeshot (often chatting with each other or customers). *ALL* they have to do is look up, make eye contact, just say "good mornin'" as we do here in Nola -- and then say, "I see you; be right there." But every time this has happened, neither the owner nor the staff acknowledge the line of customers at the counter. Sometimes they have looked right at/past us, but they do not make any effort to speak with customers. WHY? I don't get it. Why is the owner so so cold, unwelcoming, even often rude? I went there this past Sunday, it happened again, this time I had a friend from out-of-town, and we finally left to have a delicious breakfast at Leo's. read more

Groovy vibes for a morning coffee date or brunch + a place conducive to studying. The staffing is top-tier- cheery, attentive, and quick on their feet. They even offer CBD to be added to your drink [how innovative]! Even more, their vegan treats are a guilty pleasure- they never miss. The only thing that makes me wince is the pricing- just know it's not your cheapest coffee shop, but it's also no low-grade establishment. Luckily I searched "vegan" when I was close by because this place did not show up in my searches prior to traveling. First day: 5/5 got the breakfast burrito on corn tortillas to make it gluten free (GF). They did not have the cassava wrap indicated on the menu, but that was ok. This was super fresh: super fresh pico, guac and the corn tortillas are a large size which is nice. These were delicious! I also picked up a vegan lemon cheesecake and the PB protein crunch from the grab and good case. If you've had cashew based cheesecake before, this one is delicious. The crust has little almond nubblies in it that were great for texture. The PB protein has good flavor but is definitely on the dry side. You'll need a beverage. second day: 3/5 I got a bagel breakfast sandwich and subbed a GF bagel. This was underwhelming. Egg was very hard cooked (like brown). Added vegan cheese which was nice. Arugula was fresh. It just didn't really come together as a sandwich. I thought it was supposed to have pesto on it? It had a red spread... sundried tomato pesto - not very flavorful. The menu is a bit inconsistent so I was expecting basil pesto based on the ordering page. The sandwich just didn't meld together and needed a bit of salt (I couldn't find packets) and more spread/flavor. It was just "ok". All in all though if you need vegan and gluten free choices, you will want to come here. It's worth the trip for some sweet treats and coffee. read more

Second time here and was disappointed. On my first visit I got the Mexican Mocha, which was flavorful and complex, if a little small. I also got a breakfast burrito- also small and slightly bland. Today my Mocha was also bland, and seemed tiny for the pricetag. I got a baked good that was not remarkable as well. The inside is sterile and has an overpriced spa aesthetic. This was our first time here and I'll definitely never be going back. I was excited to try this place as it's so close to where I live, but there are so many better places in New Orleans that are better priced. The açaí bowl was the most mid açaí bowl I've ever had and the vanilla latte was just ok. And I'm so confused as to why this is the most expensive açaí bowl in the city when it's not even in a prime location. My eyes were so wide when I saw the total for 2 people. I could've eaten at other local breakfast places and had actual good food. Upon further research on the website, it was created to meet the needs of esplanade studios, but it's so maddening and upsetting that the prices are out of touch with the local neighborhood. This place is so out of touch with the location. I swear this place thinks it California and not New Orleans. I guess they wanted to meet the needs of out of town film crew, but you can make a healthy/New Orleans style place that is more in touch with the location. This place belongs on the bland north shore and not in the Tremé. Don't go expecting an authentic local experience. I have been wanting to come to Lamara Coffee & Kitchen because it's a gorgeous building. The food in the photos looks amazing so I think we ordered the wrong items! My friend's spring roll salad looked delicious, but our 2 sandwiches were just OK--- the potato wedges were a little dry and may have been better with a dipping sauce but we didn't want to ask as the vibe isn't too friendly (alert: don't expect any Southern charm or hospitality, even though you are essentially in the heart of the city....). Don't go with kids or dogs :) Not sure I would go back for food as there are so many delicious options in New Orleans these days.... or if I went back I would just grab a coffee (maybe....). read more

But i tried ordering a lunch menu item at 11:30, but they don't start making it until 11:45 so I waited and then was told they are on lunch so I have to wait another 30 to order lunch items. I tried ordering something else but they weren't making wraps because it's Friday they apparently don't make wraps on Friday's. So I just got a matcha which was good, but really disappointing experience. The waitress was really nice though, it wasn't her fault.
