This place is super cute! In the middle of a college area! There's plenty of metered parking near by! It can be a bit busy, so look at the menu before you arrive! I have an allergy to lavender so they accommodated my matcha order without issue. If I go back to NOLA, I would try again! read more

Loved this place! It is in an obscure area, but worth the trip for some great matcha! I tried the bananas foster matcha. It was quite sweet, but I liked it! This is such a unique flavor combination, but it works! If you are looking for a very specific matcha flavor, I wouldn't outright recommend this place, but maybe the double matcha would be a good option. The interior is super cute and well decorated. There several adorable souvenirs and trinkets to pick up. The staff is also very kind and helpful! We came pretty early in the morning, and they were very considerate! read more

Rating: 7/10 This place gets a lot of foot traffic in the medical block of NOLA. On the intersection of the VA and the medical center of New Orleans, they crested this cute, aesthetically pleasing spot with matcha combinations. They also offer light bites but I just settled on the Matcha Magic latte ($8). The matcha was just ok, but the customer service is top tier and everything is reasonably priced so that makes it ok. read more

I got the Purple Rain which has lavender, ube, milk and matcha sweet cream. The combination goes well together. It's was so tasty. I also ordered the Toast Flight. Matcha Magic is located on the corner of the street across from UMC. It's also right near the medical/nursing schools too, so I'm sure they get regular traffic coming through the shop daily. It's a cute little cafe, serving some food, but mainly matcha drinks. The drinks were creative with so many different matcha drink options! I bought a horchata matcha ($8). It's made with oat milk blended with rice. It's apparently a popular item, and it's no wonder because it was delicious! I also got to try a "toast flight" complimentary as a Yelp perk. It came with 3 types of toast, but my favorite was the salmon toast. It had some cream cheese, slice of salmon, cucumber, topped with dill. Of course I needed to make a matcha stop, and I had this place on my itinerary I'm so glad I did. As soon as I walked in, everything looked vibrant, clean, and inviting. It smelled amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect. I was greeted right away, and I liked that there was a menu stand at the entrance so you could look over the options before even stepping into line. The two women working there were so nice and polite, answered all of our questions, and made the experience even better. I got a chocolate matcha, I believe, and it was super, super good. Loved my experience at matcha magic. A very nice laidback cafe. I went with my sister we both got berry chantilly matcha which was so good. Now I am a matcha drinker, I drink it usually with vanilla and honey but my sister taste mine at home and hated it however she actually liked the berry chantilly matcha and drank the whole thing. We shared a toast flight with the house avocado, lox on and Greek life. All of them were good, I especially liked the Greek life. And we sat there coloring and chatting for a few hours until they closed. The service was great, the barista was very helpful when we were trying to decide what flavor to get. I liked the music they played. Parking is ok, street only. Overall just a great cafe. I'll most definitely be back. read more

So so so many good things to say about matcha magic. I am a matcha fanatic and once I found out this place opened near school I was so excited to try it! My top faves are the Purple Rain, Coconut Matcha Cloud, and Cloudy Coconut Smoothie. I really enjoy the location of this Matcha spot--it's easy to get to with side street parking. The place looks great, but the drinks can be hit or miss. I liked the Ube purple rain, though the Ube flavor was a bit strong. The banana Matcha smoothie wasn't my favorite; it tasted more like a fresh banana smoothie with a hint of Matcha. The strawberry Matcha was decent, made with fresh strawberries. They once hosted a pop-up clothing shop inside, but the space was cramped and awkward. If there was a line while ordering, you'd bump into people browsing clothes. Theres more space in the back left, I wish they had used that area instead. It's just a tight area. Despite returning, the drink quality remains inconsistent. The staff were friendly. They also sell their own merch and matcha powder which I thought was unique. A little on the pricey side, but I thought it was cool that they offered it. In terms of NOLA matcha, I would say it's up there but not #1 or #2. I'd love to see their drinks give more of that "wow" factor in terms of flavor. read more

Having been to the location in Bellevue,WA, - I was excited to try this spot but also hesitant. I wasn't a huge fan of the bellevue location mostly because there seems to be a matcha cafe every other corner but in NOLA, there isn't too many options. I came in and was glad it was much more "nicer" and roomier than the Bellevue Location. Friendly service and easy huge menu to read (loved the pics and description). I got the fruity pepples and the marshmellow. The fruity pepples was amazing (8/9 out of 10. The marshmellow which I have tried before tasted the same in bellevue and I would rate it a 6-7 out of 10. This is really high quality matcha. First of all, the location is so stinking cute. When I came in, there were people sitting in different areas, talking, working, studying, which I think speaks to the vibe. The baristas (or matcharistas??) were all sooo sweet and kind! When visiting a business, I always love to ask what's the most popular. They said the matchamellow or matcha magic latte. I ended up with matcha horchata because one of the baristas mentioned their house-made horchata for the base, and then offered me a sample of the horchata, and it was SOOOO DELICIOUS! I then disclosed that I like to stay away from added sugar, so we settled on the matcha horchata with no cane syrup and it's amazing! It's so smooth and creamy!! There's a hint of sweetness (horchata is made with some maple syrup I believe) so I would not call this sweet, which is exactly what I wanted. Idc what anyone says, I love the taste of matcha as it comes lol! Amazing display of customer service with a curated vibe and excellent matcha! Side Note: You do have to pay for street parking, but you can literally add a quarter to the meter and that's enough for 15 minutes in and out. I like to disclose that! read more

It's so exciting to see the Matcha scene grow in New Orleans and especially see the food scene expand in the downtown region! I was so excited to see this place open so close to my work place. Upon entering, I was pretty impressed by the menu and all of the different and creative matcha drink options they have! Some of the different milk options are also housemade and the vibes this place were also great. I got a Strawberry Matcha latte with Almond Milk. I thought the strawberry section was perfect. The matcha in my drink felt a little bit watered down and it wasn't sweet (but I know some matcha places don't add sweetner so I may need to ask explicitly next time) and the sweetness I was getting was coming more from the strawberry section. I think this place though has huge potential and I may need to give it another try and re-evaluate, but overall, I like the amount of effort that they are putting in, the diverse menu, the vibes and efficiency of the place! read more

First time trying this spot and got the Cloudy Coconut with oat milk. The smoothie was veryyyy creamy and nice and thick. I personally prefer a more bold, fruity smoothie but got this per a suggestion from a friend. I personally like their matcha more and would def come back for the matcha. Matcha Magic is my new favorite Matcha spot serving up an array of Matcha flavors that keep you coming back. No really, I've already been 3 times since they opened a week ago. So far the purple rain is my favorite but the Matcha lemonade was incredibly refreshing on a hot day. As a TRUE matcha aficionado, who's tried Matcha on a global level (yes multiple parts of Japan and Europe) and at many local cafes, the matcha I've had at Matcha magic is top notch. I plan to try the marshmallow flavor on my next visit. Also, the lox avocado toast and açaí bowl are the perfect breakfast or lunchtime bites. Not only is the menu amazing, but the service is fast and friendly and the aesthetic of the space is so cute and inviting. I can't wait until they start a loyalty program because I will have all the points. I plan to rack up on some of their seriously cute merch because it's hard to resist. I love trying new things on the menu and always feel welcomed coming to Matcha Magic. It is in a great location because its close to a grocery store, school, hospital, and interstate. My friend and I tried 2 drinks each so we could really explore the menu. She got the Matcha Lemonade and Blueberry Matcha Latte (which is seasonal) both were delicious. She ordered one food item, Passion Pit bowl and destroyed it! I ordered the King Cake Matcha Latte (which is seasonal) and the Purple Rain Matcha Latte. I loved both of mine and would easily order them again, especially the Purple Rain because I love the taste of ube. My food items was the avocado toast flight. They were all delicious and tasted healthy and empowering so I could go about my day. But this is definitely a share worthy snack. They were so filling but I enjoyed them all.
