I am Brazilian, so high standards for Brazilian food. Because of the lack os options in Miami, I am kinda regular to Boteco. I would say the food here is inconsistent in taste and preparation Today I decided to write a review just because of Giovana. She brings professionalism, customer service and a rocking personality that is impossible to ignore. She deserves all the praise her customers can give her!! Thank you Giovana for the best service at Boteco! Besides Giovana, who made our time there especially nice, I don't know what happened but the food was exceptional. Coxinha had a crispy crust, soft inside with a chicken filling tasty and satisfying. The frango a passarinho, little morsels of chicken fried with a seizible amount of garlic, was moist and delicious. Everything lacked a little season and the Brazilian twist but were better than the last times we went there. Worst place. Charge $7 for valet parking which they ask you to get your car. We made a reservation and they didn't have a table, they made a bunch of people with reservation to do a line and after they say that it is too late for our reservation (reason is that they overbooked and wanted to blame your for it) slater they asked is to go to the restaurant next door. The owners and staff are incredible disrespectful. Save your time and a bad experience and don't come here, the only Basilian here is the name. What a crappy place. read more

Went there thinking of getting a good Brazilian food and got a nightmare. I've been to other Brazilian places and they are amazing, but this one was disgustingly dirty. Not to say the ridiculous loud music and the pricey food that wasn't very well done. The picanha was dry and had a rubber feel to the mouth, the stroganoff that my fiancé order did not tasted like stroganoff. We know Brazilian food since we are from Brazil, and this wasn't a representation of Brazil at all. I will never be back there and wont recommend this place to anyone. Absolute best Brazilian spot in Miami. I was introduced to the bar by my Brazilian friend on a Tuesday, LADIES NIGHT. I've been back on several occasions on different days but to me there's nothing like Tuesday nights. FREE Caipirinhas! WARNING: these little drinks are STRONG! I don't think I've ever been as drunk as I have on one of these nights at Boteca. I'm pretty sure I proposed to my boyfriend that same night I got home. I've never had a miss with the food. I've eaten here many times and love it. It has ample outdoor seating, is homey and clearly a neighborhood place for brazilians. I've had the linguisa, pinha (steak), octopus, and their saturday buffet. Sausage is sausage, and their sausages are good. I wasn't blown away, but I would buy them again. Portuguese sausage is spicy and rich, which I enjoy. Their fried yucca is the best I had! Light airy and crispy. Though not a churrascuria style place, I can assure you their steak is the freshest of the fresh, and comes with olive oil + pepper sauce on the side that tops it off. Do get the octopus dish, it's totally worth it. It has a lime dressing that combined with its tender perfectly cooked mollusk is to die for. The buffet is a mixed bag. Basically it's Brazilian soul food all you can eat. One draw is live acoustic brazilian music, which I love. It happens saturday afternoons till 4pm. You get sausage, black beans with various meats, collards, plantains, and some pork. For the money it's a deal, but compared to the rest of the menu it is nothing special. Went here once with a group of girls on Ladies' Night. They always seem to have some sort of special going on, though, because the place is generally packed any given night of the week. This time, I wanted to go with a group of 5 on a Saturday night at 8PM. I saw that live music would start at 9PM, so I instinctively made a reservation. It wasn't needed, though. We were given a table outside, more "out of the scene" and we felt a bit abandoned from the rest of the crowd. It's usually a dark and sultry experience with a good taste of local flavor, but this time it ended being just a dinner with good friends. So, ok... we had an opportunity to focus more on the food and service, rather than be dazzled by Brazillian commotion. The Good: We ordered an assortment of tapas and dishes, but the chicken skewers were the best. I usually don't eat chicken when going out, but next time, I would order just these with a side of yucca (like potato wedges, but oh so much better). Although they offer a variety of drinks with muddled fruit, the traditional caiprehanas are probably your best bet. The Bad: The grilled steak was recommended to us as their signature dish. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it was just ok... which is bad for a Brazillian place promoting it as the best dish. It was a thinner slice of meat served on a hot plate. Eat or plate it quickly! We ordered it medium rare, and it ended up pretty well done in a very short time. Also, there was a thick chunk of fat along the edge... not to my liking, but I know some enjoy it. Service seemed to be extra slow for our table. Even though we were sat quickly (first), there was a lot of down time to realize that we were the only table still without drinks, and then later without food. This could have been due to the fact that our table was off the beaten path making it easy for the wait staff to forget about us. A few caiprehanas later, we didn't really care. The Not-So-Pretty: Our sad faces when we saw that the people inside were having more fun. For us, the live music was inaudible. Next time, I'll ask to be closer to the action. Oh, and I almost forgot... skip the hot sauce!The one that comes in the little plastic cup with red peppers at the bottom has no flavor, only heat. So far the best feijoada in town! I went there for the first time this afternoon for their "all you can eat feijoada" for $19.50. Not overpriced at all and there were many side dishes include, such as the torresmo (chicharrón), farofa (a dish made of cassava flour) collard greens, oranges, rice, yuca, and some other things, topping all with an awesome chocolate cake. I found it amazing that even though it was almost 5pm they'd still put more food there, so if you arrive late you'll still get a good service. One of our favorite local joints and the best authentic caipirinhas in Miami - but nothing beats their pastels de queijo. Equally great as a bar or restaurant. The service, food and drinks are reliably good and my only complaint would be the smoking allowed outside gets trapped in the covered patio and it can be too loud inside. I really love the outdoorsy, rustic elegance of the patio. It definitely has its unique Brazilian flavor, which is no small feat considering it's on the side of a very busy Miami street. Valet parking is available for a fee, although some do take their chances and park their cars in empty business lots or even right along the street. Prices are about mid range and The servers are very easy on the eyes, and pleasant. All in all, a great place for a casual to moderate dinner.The place is small and gets really packed for Ladies Night ( free caipirinhas, need I say more?) but pretty quiet on other nights. First a quick review of the reviews: Come on peeps: You don't go to Boteco for fine dining...hello? You go there for a party! And everyone knows this is an outside place so if you are susceptible to melting, go somewhere else, or just move back to Canada. This is Miami, for goodness sakes. Back to Saturday. Service. I was absolutely blown away by the helpful service. Our waiter kept a watchful eye on the table. This means that he didn't interrupt us on his schedule, but quickly noticed when someone with us needed something and then came over. Food: Really delicious. My friend Matt had the churrasco which he made disappear like a magician. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Ambiance: See first para. above. I've been to Boteco twice. The first time, I ate. The second time I only drank. The food ~ At some point, I'd like to order a formal entrée, since what I ordered was an appetizer that I had to myself: the calabreza chouriço sausage with yucca (cassava), and it was very tasty. I ordered a maracuyá (passion fruit) juice that I thought was too sweet. The server was very polite. Drinks ~ If caipirinhas are your thing, the ones they serve at Boteco are deadly. It's not personally my thing, but my good friend looooves, loves them. I liked the mojitos ok. Not the best, but decent. Ambiance/crowd ~ It's a dance-til-you-drop kinda place, especially on Tuesday nights, when it's Ladies Night. The crowd is very Brazilian and Latino, friendly, very non-SoBe-yet-not-Hialeah-kind-of-Miami. Because of the DJ on Tuesdays, it's of course, a little loud and crowded. I understand they also have live music other nights, playing mostly Bossa Nova. I've yet to check that out, too. They have an outdoor area in the back, covered sometimes with a tent, and that area has its own bar as well. Place is pretty casual. There's valet parking, but I can't remember how much it was. Honestly the best restaurant I have enjoyed since moving to Miami. As picky as I am, that says alot. I love this place and I love the strong Caipirinhas even more. I order the Picanha Fatida Na Chapa (Grilled sirloin steak with fried yucca) and chat my friends up in my broken Portuguese. The BEST Brazilian spot in town. I have been to Botequim Carioca and if you like paying higher prices and a 18% fee tacked on then go there. This is my favorite (& closest) spot to occupy while I get my car washed up the street. They have decent happy hour, though the bartender is usually a little odd. The food has been eh for me so far, (the apps are what I mostly have tried and none have stood out) but tonight I tried the picanha burger and it was fire. Even though they cooked it well done when I ordered it medium, I could still taste it was a quality meat. I wish they would have cooked it to medium, would've been much better. Fries were good too. Beer is always decently priced, $4 drafts all day and a low cost selection of bottled as well. Ladies night is tuesday and is free drink, just make sure you're there before 10:50. Boteco is the place to go for REALLY good Brazilean eats (not dinner - eats) and drinks. They're caipirinhas are a little expensive ($7) but good. The batida de maracuya is exceptional, and it's not on the menu. I was really impressed with the food here. The steak, chicken, chicken hearts, shrimp and chorizo skewers range between $3.00 - 3.50 each. Two can easily fill a date. I can eat like four easily. All the meals are appetizer based and CHEAP. EVERYTHING on the menu I've tried is amazing. The standouts are the cheese empanadas (whatever they are called), the bolinhos, and our favorite the $8 carpaccio is BIG and DELICIOUS. Service can be a bit lacking, depending on when you go. Thats the only reason I'm not giving them a 5. Foodwise, pricewise, ambientwise, its an awesome place. CHeck out their calendar online for their events. I celebrated my bday there and everyone had a good time. Sometimes they have live music. Their music is always fun. Good place to watch Brazil games. I think Wednesdays they have all you can eat skewers night. All the waiters are Brazilean. Valet parking is $4, and on slow nights there's plenty of space on the street. read more

Food was delicious, especially the jerk beef dishes. We didn't much like the fejoa, it seemed very salty, and the cod fritters were very fishy, but maybe that is how it is. The abacaxi (pineapple) drink was AMAZING, and the alcoholic drinks looked good too. Service was very attentive and friendly. My hubs has asked to give it an extra half star - but I won't bump it up to four to round it up... so just pretend you see the 3.5 stars there. It was our third attempt to eat at this place, the other two times we sat down I just couldn't bring myself to try it and we always left before placing an order. Once seated and hungry, we waited a very very long time for our food. but the waitress kept making eye contact, which at least let me know she was aware that we were waiting for the food and would bring it to us as soon as it was ready - it was hot when it arrived, so that was good. Emilio had the picanha and loved it. I ordered him a new Brazilian beer - Nova Schiz (or something like that) - he hadn't tried it before and he LOVED it - yes, more than the picanha. He also said that the taste of the beer went great with the meat, which is always a good thing for him. I wanted grilled fish filet, but it wasn't on the menu. They had tilapia and didn't mind preparing it for me grilled - that was great - but it had no flavor. I think I bathed it in salt. One of the brazilian foods I love most are the beans, so I ordered my tilapia w/rice and beans, and I love the fried banana side - they didn't have fried bananas!!!!!!!!!! oh - I wanted to leave right then and there, but w/e I was going to make the best of it. And being that it was already midnight, I prefered eating there than at Denny's or Taco Bell. So, out come the beans w/my fish - OMG - to my horror, they were black beans - that's not what I'd had before in brazilian restaurants. I was so disappointed. I don't know if the other place I've been to (Cypo - check out the review) has the wrong beans, but these were definitely not what I was hoping to get. So I ate my flavorless fish, with my black beans w/o my fried bananas. Emilio ate his full-fat picanha - you could see the chunks of fat on it - something that totally turns me off, as him too - but he loved them despite that. The food only comes with one side, all else is extra. I'm just not into this place, something about it; but w/e, it was food. I heard the caipirinhas at this place are great. But if I ever go back it will be so Emilio can have his beer and I can try the capirinhas. Just came here for a Birthday Celebration and the Caipiriñas are delicious!! Sat down with 16 other friends and talked and talked for about 8-10 caipiriña pitcher rounds. For the amount we drank and the buzz we got the price was fair enough. The food looked great but I didn't eat any... no review there. The outside/inside ambiance was fun, but can't really write about it since I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'm a big fan of Boteco. It's a good place to hang out. There is a lot of covered outdoor seating here. The food is really solid. You can't go wrong with the selection of skewers (chicken hearts are my favorite). There are also good appetizers (chicken cheese croquettes are a favorite) and solid meat options (picanha). The drinks are also reasonably priced. The wine isn't great, but I mean what would you expect? Food and atmosphere more than makes up for it. I go past this place 5 days a week on my way to and from school and there always seems to be people there. One lovely Saturday afternoon after a long Esthetics class I decided to stop in. Great environment, I would imagine that is what a little spot in Brazil would feel like. There was a live band playing and a delicious buffet spread! This place is pretty fun casual place to bring a group of friends and hang out. They have pretty good specials - Tuesday nights ladies drink free caipiroskas (nasty hangover though) till 11, and Fridays have a 50% off happy hour. After 11 it gets pretty packed and loud as the DJ cranks it up a notch. The food here is pretty good and not badly priced - $16 for a picanha, and under $3 for meat skewers. I would say that I have had better picanha at Fogo de Chao, but it is a lot more expensive there. There are also free samba classes on Monday nights although I have never been to one. Overall you can't go wrong with great atmosphere, awesome drink specials, and good food.
