    2-Day and fries with cheese
    Diandra L.

If you haven't tried a USBS burger, stop what you're doing and make a plan to go to the Citadel. They are among Miami's best burgers. I went on Friday and opted for the 2-Day which is a double smash patty with "government cheese". I also got fries with cheese sauce. This burger is simple but it is damn good. The fries are thick cut and golden to perfection as well. Although the menu items are simple, they are a cut above the rest bc their grinds, buns, and most other ingredients in their food are scratch made. Absolutely delish, and affordable as well.

Came here expecting this awesome burger experience, and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. Had the double, and it's just two overcooked smashed patties. It could be okay to have after a night of drinking, and your body is just craving something greasy.

Am I missing something here?? I know everyone raves about USBS but I don't get the hype. The portions were teeny-tiny and the flavor was just average. I've been a few times now hoping for a better experience but sadly haven't changed my mind yet. Also the service at the citadel is hit or miss -- I was here on a weekday and wasn't allowed to go up to the outdoor patio.

They take the mini in Mini Apple Pies seriously, as the powdered sugar balls (with barely any apple filling) were almost postage stamp size and gone in one bite. Let's not even start with my opinion on smash burgers. Real burgers have at least one piece of the green stuff and a tomato slice. That is facts, I have posted about this previously. In any case, I ordered their "Carrier Pigmento" (aka BBQ chicken sandwich). Other than it lacking lettuce and tomato, it tasted alright. As it were, three days after eating it I can't even remember if it had cheese or not.. The thick house cut fries could have been a little crispier and warmer. I'm giving USBS a second star because the burger was somewhat tasty, but it's a "nope" from me. Thankfully I was with friends who ordered from other stands and I didn't starve.

Love their concept "United States burger service" They even tied their menu to match the theme I had the "2 day" which is a double patty with cheese and a special sauce. It was a good burger but I felt like they could have used a bigger bun. The patties were slipping out. Also tried the "southern tariff" fries which had Cajun spice seasoning and a side of jalapeño ranch. Also good but at times the seasoning was a bit too much.

    2 day burger with bacon

I came across this place as I was scrolling through an article on Yelp about the 12 best burgers. I was in Miami on vacation and thought, what are the chances there's one here. And lo and behold.... there was! First thing to note is that USBS has a little theme going about the post office and they do so well with it on their menu item names. Also, when you get to the place, they take down your number and when it's ready, you pick it up from one of the mail boxes with characters from Bobs burger. Right off the bat I appreciated their dedication to the details. Now, time to tell you about the food. I ordered the 2-Day burger with bacon. I personally love smash burgers for the primary reason that I can rest assured that the meat is well done. But it's not a tough well done where you're chewing for days; it's a thin, tender, greasy, and flavorful experience. Between the sauce and the cheese, I couldn't really separate their flavors, they sort of blended into one but it was good. Before adding the bacon, I asked if it made a difference because sometimes I feel like the taste of bacon gets lost in the sauce (pun intended) but their answer was yes. I would agree. It definitely made it more salty but also a tad bit more meaty. I had the bacon on its own just for a test taste and it was absolutely delicious. It was a bit oily but that's expected, it was crispy, and a lot salty in some parts but I'm not complaining, I love salt! I sort of wish it did have a bit more toppings like lettuce and tomato at least but I do understand it might take away from the original and necessary flavors of a cheeseburger. Apparently their buns are made in house which is pretty neat and it was good; fluffy, moist (not wet but it also wasn't dry like the cheap supermarket buns) and good flavor. USBS is inside a building where there's other good options so if someone isn't feeling a burger, there's always other things to try. It's a laid back environment, music not too loud, lights slightly dimmed, a vintage shop in the back. It does suck that parking isn't free but that seems to be a common theme in Miami. The service here was great. The person behind the counter was a good conversationalist and was able to answer any questions we had about the menu. He was also super patient in giving us all the time we needed to decide on something. 2 things I would propose is: 1. Have the option of adding toppings, even if it's the classics like lettuce and tomato 2. Have a combo option. Pay $2 more and get a portion of fries on the side.

Such a cool unique concept. You pick up your order in a locker.

I meeeeeaaaaan. I ordered the ground burger and it was a 5/5 in my honest opinion. The beef was cooked to perfection (well done), just how I like my burgers. I asked for mayo to be on it. Everything tasted fresh. If you like a simple styled burger that tastes like it was made on a grill at a cookout, this is the place for you. The fries were pretty ok. I wasn't overly thrilled about them but they did the job. Pro tip: I ordered a vanilla milkshake @ Frice across USBS to accompany my burger and fries. Such a great choice!!! I love how the patty is thin. The burger was the perfect size and wasn't overwhelming at all. This is a no frill burger spot. I am tired of the major chains like Burgerfi and Five Guys so I am beyond happy to discover this gem located in The Citadel. I can't wait to get another burger here soon to satisfy my cravings.

Food that sat for an hour and half

"Absolutely unacceptable experience. We ordered here for Mexican restaurant next door. We waited an hour and a half for our food, and when we kindly inquired about the delay, the staff's response was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Instead of apologizing, they verbally attacked us. We requested a refund, but they refused and offered us the now cold, hour-and-a-half-old food instead. The manager here let the Mexican associate girl with dreads be rude to the customers. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs."

Thick cut fries - worth it

This was the worst burger experience of my life! I am so upset still 24 hours later! Unbelievable how a Yelp Elite and Previous CM could say this burger was excellent. I'm in shock! Cafeteria burgers in high school or church fundraisers are better than this crap. I feel like I should have been paid to eat this instead I paid $18 for the burger and fries. Thankfully the fries were good. But c'mon! The cheese is literally the melted nacho cheese from the movie theater. The bun is the cheapest hamburger bun from Walmart. The patty was well done, dry and cold. I love burgers and I've eaten most of them in Miami - sobe burger beast attendee 2 years in a row. I know a good burger and this doesn't even come close. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother.

    Double smash with bacon

Nestled inside the citadel is USBS ! That stands for United States Burger Service. What makes this place a smash hit is exactly that, the smash. Smash burgers are their specialty. The burgers were so delicious that a pop up became a staple of the citadel food hall. Every time I go to the citadel it is a must for me to get my smash burger fix at USBS. This time I ordered the double smash burger with government cheese and bacon. It was all fresh and delicious. It's a simple well executed smash burger with quality ingredients! Ohh and the fries are legit too!

The United States burger service got it right man! I didn't even come to the citadel for USBS but gave it a try.... I tried the special delivery which was a little different because it had pork rinds but it was amazing! One of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Seriously! The order pick up was really cool as they use mailboxes to pick up orders. If you're visiting the citadel then USBS is definitely worth a try.

Oh. My. God. Yes. I knew that 2 websites had this as their best burger but this exceeded expectations! They do burgers and they do them sooooo well. The theme was so delightfully clever and oh yes they actually have Squirt!? I will be back, many times!

    Claudia P.

This smashburger was sooo good! I know my picture may not be too helpful because I eat my cheeseburgers plain BUT the meat patty had great flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted and the bread was good too! The French fries were delicious. I definitely recommend having one of these burgers while hanging at the bar of the citadel.

Decent burger but size hardly reflected the price. Service was good however ... and I really like the theme.

I had browsed the menu earlier in the evening as a possibility due to their vegetarian options and high rating. We arrived about 2 hours prior to them closing. There were several televisions on with sports playing and they had a bar you could sit at or table options, both inside and outside. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately and offered drinks. I ordered a wine and hubs ordered a beer. I ordered the Beyond Beef burger with sweet potato fries. In the meantime, I went to use the bathroom to wash my hands but the only bathroom available did not have soap. A staff member quickly came over and gave me soap right away. Great service! Our burgers came out at a reasonable time. They were tasty but I think my vegan burger was Impossible, not Beyond Beef. I can tell Impossible from other brands. I was not fond of that but it was still decent. The service was great and the food was good. The restaurant was clean, tidy, and looked brand new. The prices were I guess comparable to most places in the area.
