Efficient, honest, well run establishment! I found Boteler Automotive on Yelp after all the warning lights on my 2018 Honda CRV's dash started cycling like a Christmas display in Times Square. I prayed and took it to the dealership and the diagnostic report relayed that I basically needed an engine transplant. Well, I'm going through a lot and it's a miracle that I've been able to maintain this vehicle, I'm being held together by God's grace and Scotch tape. I called and spoke to Ray and he said to bring it down. After confirming some suspicions, he and "Mac Dadddy" Lindsay came up with a solid treatment plan to hopefully resolve the issue. If I have to move forward with the repairs, I trust that Boteler Automotive will do right by me. I thank God for blessing me with wisdom and guidance. I have found my new mechanic! My previous mechanic retired leaving this lady with no other choice but the dreaded dealer for maintenance and repairs. After deciding that I would no longer subsidize the mechanics' children's college tuition (I mean why else would they charge so much? It's an oil change!), I did some research and found the great reviews for Boteler Auto. What a find!!! My car was making a weird rattling noise and I feared the worse. When I arrived at Boteler's and parked, this kind-faced gentleman came over and said "hello" as he offered his hand to shake. I said "my car is making a weird noise when I turn." Mr. Boteler said, "Yes, I heard it when you turned in." He then explained that one of the coverings for the cat converter had been knocked out of place, and was easy to fix. He drove the car in, put it on the lift, and showed me what was up. He also took the time to explain what had probably happened (stupid potholes), and after a few taps with a rubber hammer, problem solved. No overselling. No dishonesty or drama. Just a nice, obviously experienced mechanic who not only fixed my issue, but took the time to show me and explain what caused it. And THEN - he called a week later to make sure everything was still okay!!! Like I said, I have found my new mechanic!! I highly recommend Boteler Automotive!!! read more

This is a fabulous repair shop. I recently found my way to them after a very negative experience with the Honda dealership, where I felt I was getting swindled. Ray, and all his staff put me at ease from the start. I found them through Yelp and google reviews and am so happy I did. Their prices are very fair, and saved me several hundred from what Honda was going to charge. In addition, Honda told me I had a leaking TPMS sensor and Ray said that his tech tried to replicate it but that there was zero evidence that the sensor was leaking. They were very responsive and I truly felt they were exceedingly honest. They don't have a shuttle per se, but Ray said between him and his wife, they'd find a way to get me home (turned out I was able to get a ride) but I was very grateful for his willingness to help me. Ray even called me a couple days later to check that everything was good. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I hope I don't have much reason to return any time soon, but I'm very grateful to know that I have found a reliable and honest shop. read more

I wouldn't carry my van back to this sleazeball for all the tea in china. Ray test drove my van and told me it was my ball bearings. Then he called me back and said the entire spindle has to be replaced. Long story short, I've ended up paying $2300 and my vehicle was still making noise and shaking. I carried it back two time each time fast talk me with some BS! He even tried to tell me it was the rear tires and recommended i go around the corner to his friend's used tire shop. I went to Walmart and bought new tires and my van was still shaking and making noise. Ole Ray thought i was a fool, he said "bring it back" i thought to myself, "why the hell would i carry my car back to this dam fool?" So i carried it to a shells station up the street. The gentleman fixed my car in one day for less than $800. Ray you go stright to hell. I'll see you in court! read more

I came from outside the immediate Beltsville area to look at a used car. I brought it to Boteler Automotive to have it inspected before I purchased. Ray was extremely nice. He drove the car himself to check it. Then brought it back into the shop to look under the hood. He checked everything over for me, pointed out some (minor) things for me to ask the dealer about. I have been going to Boteler Automotive for several years now and I am sadly just getting around to a writing a review for this amazing shop. I've brought my car and my husband's car here for repairs, tune ups, oil changes, and more. I've never had a problem with the service they've provided and their customer service is top notch. These guys have saved me literally thousands of dollars by telling me the truth and not trying to swindle me like many dealerships in the area. I took my 2010 Ford Hybrid here after the Ford Dealership told me a repair was going to cost around $900 for parts alone and then labor on top of that. I doubted what they were saying and went to Boteler for a second opinion. The guys here took a look at it, told me it was a $15 part and that it would take them less than an hour to fix. I brought my car in the next day, and drove off within the hour. The car was totally fine for the next 3 years before I traded it in at 130k miles. My husband took his car here after a similar situation where a dealer told him the repair would be upwards of $700, Boteler took a look, told us the options for brand new parts or second hand parts and we went with the second hand option which understandably is cheaper than what the dealer was saying, but the brand new parts were significantly cheaper as well. We walked out with a bill of $200 instead of $700. I can't say enough about these guys, they'll answer all of your questions, they'll explain what they are doing and why, and they're honest. It's appalling what other people will try to pull on you, but these guys aren't in that category. I recommend them regularly and I can't ask for better service. This automotive shop is really honest and hard-working, they get your car done on time or before the time they give you and it's a very fair price. They're very honest about things you may not need yet or the things you don't need it all it's hard to find that in an auto repair shop. It's a little tricky getting there and you really can't walk to a bus stop so you need to take an Uber if you're going to leave the location. I'm actually hoping it remains a little bit of a secret it's already a day or two before you can get in. But I have the highest recommendations for this place. read more
