Stopped in the Bottle Stop Wine Bar to share a bottle of wine with my mom and aunt. After sitting, the waitress asked if we would like to partake in a complimentary wine tasting. We said yes, that sounds great and the waitress left three tasting glasses and said a someone would be over to conduct the tasting. After 20 minutes, the person doing the tasting came over and asked if we were wine club members. We replied that no, we weren't members and he just walked away and did the tasting for the next table (we overheard that they were also not members). We told the waitress what happened, and while she was apologetic, she did nothing to make it right. If it was too busy for us to be helped, they should not have offered the complimentary tasting. I would come back, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to return. I will say that the sommelier recommended a great bottle of Sauvignon Blanc that we all enjoyed. read more

Great spot! Friendly and attentive staff. They have a great wine selection. Was happy to find our waitress, Katie, was very knowledgeable about the wine they offered. Had the Yuca fries and the salmon croquettes to start, both very good. My friend had the salmon, she enjoyed it. I had the crab cakes, the seasoning was good but the texture was very mushy, felt like there was too much filler and too much moisture. The side of the Mac 'n cheese was flavorful but dry. Our cocktails were great as well. The double chocolate brownie with raspberry wine sauce was absolutely amazing! It's definitely a little on the pricey side (but I guess a lot of things are these days). Wish the flights were a little less expensive and that maybe they had more Virginia wines available by glass. You can order 3 different wines. I honestly asked the waitress to help me with the selection. I like sweet wine so I figured it out that she would know more than me lol. Wow! This is a fantastic, quaint, intimate spot in the heart of historic Occoquan. It's the kind of spot where you can tell there are frequent patrons and the server knew everyone by name. A very relaxed atmosphere. We sat next to a couple who had been married for 30 years and they proceeded to tell us the secret to longevity. Ha! I had the Cobb salad with salmon "bacon" and substituted the blue cheese for cheddar. The balsamic vinaigrette is sweet and sassy and really complimented the salmon. I topped my meal off with the Trumpet Cru dessert wine. This was a night cap but I was starved for some greens. My friend had a glass of Malbec with the Tavern mac n cheese and said it was also really good. Next time I'll try one of the pizzas because the couple beside me mentioned how wonderful it was. The beginning of the experience was lovely. Good cocktails & the deviled eggs were so delicious. Our experience started to go south when we order dinner. I ask for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc & was given Chardonnay, the pours were inconsistent between those of us who got wine with dinner. We accidentally got a different tables food & when we tried to explain, the server took the first plate and hurried away. She returned with the correct plate for my friend, & we had to explain the whole table was wrong. All of the plates were removed & we waited another 20minutes for our entrees, with no explanation or further communication from the server or the manager. When our correct entrees came out, both steaks were well done, & had to be sent back as we had ordered both, medium rare. The manager didn't check on us or follow up after the re-fired steaks were dropped off. No compensation for the mix ups or the over cooked food was offered or placed on the check. When we received the bill, we figured out how we were going to split everything up ourselves & wrote out which card should be charge how much, on the back of the receipt. A couple days later one of us was over charged by $130. He still had the receipt for the amount he had signed for & had to reach out to the restaurant to have it corrected. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience. We had such high hopes & were excited to check this place out, but I don't think we will be back after, just so many mishaps. read more

We've been coming here for 6 months since we moved into the area. Decided to take my daughter out on Friday night out for dinner. Since this was one of my favorite places to dine, being that I'm (was) a member of the monthly wine club. Like any other restaurant that night, it was busy. Not an issue, we were told we would be seated next. Waited for 35-40 min. I lost my s*** when a mature couple came in and the owner sat them down before us. He saw us standing there and didn't communicate to the server who kept telling us to hold on over and over. -there's a table available soon. Saw the whole thing a didn't do anything. I've been in hospitality back in my day. The first thing I learned; communication is key, pay attention to the room, and read your audience. That's terrible service, if you can't take a min to communicate with your staff/team. Or know you had a party waiting prior to makes you a "clueless owner". I took my business elsewhere. This used to be my favorite place to dine. You will see less of us. read more

The wine selection is very good and recommendations are solid. Had dinner here and the protein was overcooked. When I brought this to the attention of both servers, there was no attempt to make it right. One response was "Oh, I'll let them know in the kitchen." The other was "Ah okay, I'm pretty sure I know where that came from." But neither attempted to apologize nor make it right. Nothing resembling "would you like me to take that back and have another piece brought out?" Not even, "I'm sorry." I ended up not finishing it because it was too dry to be edible. The spot was busy, the atmosphere good. But the lack of concern with respect to an entree that was below par, was surprising. I've experienced better and honestly, expected that as well. Bottle stop is one of the most amazing restaurants I've been to. I have known the owners Kim and Emil for a very long time and have seen the amazing progression they have made. The reason for the 2 star is because of the Food and Service. During the whole 2 hours we were there, the waitress never came and asked us how we were doing or how our food was. We had to "flag" her down. Here is the worse part. The Food. I never thought food could hurt you, but this Time it did. We ordered the meat pizza, and when it got there it was 80% burnt. Well we were hungry, ate it and I noticed that it was so crusty and salty that it was starting to burn the roof of my mouth. This was Friday. It is now Monday and my mouth still hurts! Then it was time to pay, we had to again flag the waitress down. Then when I had the card ready, again I flagged the waitress down! I was doing her job? I was going to give this place one star, but the wine was the only good part. It was a pretty good wine bottle from Spain, and the table we sat on was very nic and comfy and I had a good time talking to my wife as well. Overall, if you are looking for food, go to 7-11, you will find better pizza there. I can't talk about their other menu items, but come on, pizza, how can you mess that up? We go out of our way to stop at this great wine bar every time we are in town. We love sitting out front watching people and sitting out back is so serene with the river. Our last trip husband had the Citrus Salmon which was spot on. It was perfectly cooked medium-rare as ordered. I had the Crab cakes with the Mac and cheese. OMG! We ordered the perfect amount of food for two...because we ended the meal with a molted lava cake the chef recommended. Sidenote - the chef is worth meeting, she's talented, interesting, and you'll want to give them your business as they do a nice job of caring about patrons. It's a wine bar. I had a flight of wines and ended up finding a new fav - Michel Gassier Cercius Rouge. I preface my wine recommendation by expressing that I'm a wine novice, but this red suited me and the meal. There happened to be a camera guy filming a couple on their first date after meeting online. Added a little excitement to the eve. Pretty entertaining. The restaurant does close at 9pm, which is a bit of a bummer, but how often do you eat dinner after 9pm anyways. Let's be real. For girls night we went out on Wednesday and to our surprise this place became a winner bc of the Free wine tastings!! 4 in total. This place went from zzzz to 100 with the wine flowing. Great service and accomdation. Food didn't really matter and wasn't really special. If you were to try food, go with the grill cheese. read more
