The setup here is different and you need to know how it works. But first the food is outstanding! You select you choice of wine from a lengthy floor display- want more? Just go get it and the waiter will open it. Good selection and mostly higher end- no $15 bottles. Now the food- we had a party of 8- ordered 4 appetizers and 4 main dishes- PLENTY of food served family style, this is what makes it a good value. And it's really good- recommend the shrimp/gnocchi, chicken Marsala, ribs. The service is good too- didn't experience what some of the other reviews noted. The tip is included in the bill, our service was very good and we added to the tip. Best dinner we had all vaca! Ended up going back 2 more times. read more

As a Puerto Rican who had almost eaten in most top restaurants in the island I give this place number 1 or 3 depending on what are you looking for. This places is the definition of the American and also Puerto Rican taste of food- best price of the size than no other restaurant out there, great meat quality, best high end wine and hard liquor prices in Puerto Rico without no doubt (Costco has some excellent wine price too in PR.) Excellent service in general (though there was some waiter in the past that where bad- don't worry they don't work anymore there). The Seafood is the best fresh seafood one could find. And if your a beef Wellington fan like a I'm this is the holy grail of the Beef Wellington world. Also, ironically this places also for me have the best traditional Puerto Rican food in the country. *NOTE*- this place will always give you BIG portions in their plates and when I'm talking BIG portions is that one plate for the average Joe can feed two people (with some few exception in their plates like fish fillet). So to conclude this review, if you want a place that have the best price for the food and drink go here without no hesitation. read more

My mom asked what kind of pasta the shrimp scampi came with and the waiter said "whichever the chef chooses today" not even offering to go check what they had this day. When a plate of shrimp is costing you $28 you want to know what kind of pasta you'll be eating. To top our evening, they automatically charged us a 20% tip (table of 5) without even asking us. I eat out a lot so it takes some to impress me. This is my second time to Bottles. The service and atmosphere is outstanding and the food even better. Our server for this meal (Dianne) was polite, engaging and attentive even with a full house on a Tuesday. I love the Walk Around Wine List. It is so much cooler than just getting a list on a page. I've never been to a place like Bottles before. It's a very trendy wine bar in the back and a full deli and market in the front. While I can not review the deli and market area, I can tell you about the food in the back which was phenomenal. We ordered the mussels which was a plate to share and a couple other dishes. They were all made with fresh ingredients and were delicious. I didn't get a drink, but my dad got a wine which he said was very good. Had a not very good experience on my recent visit for a Sunday brunch. Although food was good and quantities adequate, service wasn't up to par. The waiter couldn't explain what was included in the items we wanted and ordered additional items we didn't need. But my main complaint was the charges included in the bill. An automatic 17% "Svc Chg" is included (more than I would have awarded the waitress) and the IVU (local sales and use tax) is calculated on the total amount, ((consumption + ser. chg.) x 11.5%) vs (consumption x 11.5%), which becomes a de facto 12.7% IVU. We brought this issue up to the manager and he indicated that Bottles had permission from the government to do so. His explanation didn't convince or satisfy me. read more

Absolutely loved it here! The lobster risotto and tuna tatake are spectacular! The filet mignon and rib eye were spot on! The key lime pie rivals the originals from the Florida keys! Make sure you come with an appetite or are willing to share, because the portions are huge! They have a great selection of wine and their prices are quite reasonable for the bottle. I have to say that I regretfully can give 5 stars to the restaurant but not beacuse of the quality of the food. The food was absolutely superb! I had the shrimp gnocchi and my father had the grilled octopus that came with tostones. The gnocchi was fluffy and light in a creamy sauce and the shrimp were huge. The octopus was also enormous and its honestly the best I've had, it came smothered in this great sauce with capers that just brought it to the next level. However, the service was awful. After we we seated we waited more than 10 minutes without a menu or even water before anyone acknowledged us. Then after the water came I noticed the glass was dirty, the rim had make up on it. Although the waiter quickly chnanged it after our complaint, that is unacceptable. Then again we waited thirsty for a while to get a refill. We are always looking for something that's not the same ole but on the beach. This place is NOT on the beach, and is NOT the same ole. Great for tapas and wine, if you're feeling Spanish. I really like the menu, but as others have cautioned, the portions are for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's lunch. If you are wine savvy you can show off here, but if you are not, the wait staff is helpful. Tip: share the dishes whenever you can ( the wild berry salad easily will feed the whole table; the desserts will too). On the down side: it's always crowded (what crisis???) and the parking fills up fast. Still, it beats parking in Miramar or Condado. I vote this Local Gem for Guaynabo (which coincidentally also has five stars). read more
