I came here one time and this became my go to bar after a long day/week at work. Shirley bartender and runs the place at the same time and Yami is the main bartender. Both of their professionalism and customer service is off the chain! I've been coming here for almost a year just because of the comfort this place offers. Came here the Saturday before Halloween and it was lightweight popping. They played mainly hip hop music during the time I was there and there were a few people dancing on their little stage area. Service wasn't bad, however they're too quick in picking up the cups. There were a couple of times where there was still about half an inch of beer left in our cups and they swooped it. They have snacks, but it's waay overcharged. $3 for a small bag of shrimp chips?! Craaaazy! The place itself is pretty dark and loud, basically a club like environment. Don't think there's a dress code so you want to go clubbing, but aren't wearing the right attire, head to bottoms up instead. read more

This establishment is a joke. I wrote a review Friday night about the treatment and service I experienced. I happened to run into an old friend on Saturday afternoon. We hadn't seen each other in a while. As we began to catch up on things, he happened to tell me about an incident at Bottoms Up on the same night. My friend was asked to verify his Vaccination status and provide ID. Which was provided...my friend is in his late sixties. That's not the issue which I am writing about. My friend is Italian American, he wasn't asked to "Pay Now" but was asked to start a tab with a CC. A round of drinks was purchased for a few friends 1 for himself and the friend who was with him plus 3 additional drinks for (3) friends who happened to be at Bottoms Up. No other drinks were ordered. Once my friend asked for his tab...the owner wouldn't give him his card back unless he ordered another drink, this went on for 15 minutes. Once the tab was presented, it was for $90.00 for a total of 5 drinks. The review doesn't end here. Another joined the conversation and he too experienced the same thing a few nights before. Not long after another individual shared a negative experience similar to the previous stories. We all vowed to never spend another dime at Bottoms Up. The individuals who had a bad experience at Bottoms are of Black, Italian, White and Mexican decent. It's amazing how a group of friends can have the same experience on different occasions 2 of which happened on the same night at different times and to accidentally meet up the next day to share their experience at Bottoms Up. Bottoms Up is notorious for this type of behavior. If this continues Bottoms Up will more than likely go "BOTTOMS UP". read more

Worst experience ever! Shirley the manager I'm guessing did not serve us and her other bartender. I specifically asked if your too busy let me know and I have know problem coming another day or going somewhere else. The place was fair and she said she'll help us but we waited 20min and nothing. I asked the bartender I've been waiting 20 min and Shirley said she going to help else should I order here or continue to wait and she said she would help. What happens... she then started helping someone she apparently knows and at this point im like wth! I patiently waited mine ok as soon she gets done maybe she'll come to me cause she just hooking up her friends that just walked in but no another 5 min goes by and I walked up again to the bar like what's going on can I get at least communication at least and the bartender just rolled her eyes and walked away. This place I enjoyed from past experience as I come here often but never again now after this WORST experience ever. Poor customer service and not even an apology. My lady even asked for water out of the tap and so no only bottle water. Ridiculous after all this wait. Don't come here unless it is really slow. What a shame. I planned to write this eye opening review about the terrible bar service, and see that others have had a similarly piss poor experience. I met an old friend here for a drink after a long day since the bar was nearby. We were the first patrons, so we ordered drinks and caught up on life. As we finished the second round, the bartender (who had been pretty friendly when we were the sole patrons) asked us if we wanted more drinks. We said, "No thanks" with smiles. She then was adamant that we quickly close our tab and sign off. Ooookkkkayy. I paid and signed out, but why the rush? I realized a bit later that it may not have been our bartender who was an ass, but rather the head honcho lady who had just shown up minutes before. For the next hour, we were asked by bartenders and servers no fewer than 40 times if we wanted to order more drinks or buy bottled water. When we kept refusing, we were asked to give up our bar seats. We moved to a standing table and were soon asked to give up the table. We gave up the table and were still told we needed (NEEDED) to buy something else as we stood in limbo. I explained politely that we had already spent money in their establishment (roughly $40), and we just wanted to enjoy the music and each others' conversation. This apparently was a problem. At this point, I had the option to cause a scene or write this review. So here you have it. I cannot in good conscience recommend this bar to anyone. Not now. Not ever. This is not how you run a business or treat paying customers once they decide they would rather chill out than get drunk and a DUI. I had great company though. Came here Sat night after a slow night at Firefly. I've been here once before and had a good cocktail drink but can't remember what it was called. This time, we just had beer. It was pretty packed in here with a mixed crowd. There was young people and then people that were too old to be in here.. at least that's what my friend and I thought. Way too many old Asian males flirting with the bartenders and checking the females out. They need to keep their eyes to females their own age cuz it's really disgusting and freaky. One of the bartenders (an Asian girl) immediately asked if we had been "partying" beforehand and refused to give my friend a drink despite the fact that we had literally not had a drink prior to arriving there. The Asian girl needs to be fired. She is rude, condescending and terrible at customer service. Look I get it, people complain about bars if they wait too long for a drink or are too drunk and have a bad experience; this was just literally the worse customer service I've ever had at a bar. Cool little neighborhood lounge to hang out at. The dj on a Friday night makes the atmosphere more club like, so if your looking for something more chill, come on an off night. I usually do not write negative reviews unless a place is awful. This place is not just awful but offensive.. I thought it might be a fun place to walk to near a friend's house. So I tried it a couple of times because I really wanted to give it a chance. They charge high prices for disappointing food. The drinks are watered down & taste strange - way over priced! And the final thing that made me give up was the owner seems to be quite biased and rude. (If you are black or gay do not go here.) Some people seem to like her. But I found her to be a little crazy. She picks fights with patrons, especially black ones. She's even been seen chasing people down the street. So I had to give only one star, because I actually wonder how they make any money. During my 7 month stint living in the Excelsior District, Bottoms Up became a standard for me when I was bored with nothing to do... My first time there, the owner was the bartender and was nice enough to go over the food menu with me... Unfortunately I was there after food service so I couldn't order anything. I tested the bar by ordering a Mojito, and I was surprised at how good and strong it was since I was no where but a 5 minute drive from my house... Upon entering Bottom's Up, you would be surprised that such a place existed in our corner of the Mission, just because there hasn't been a bar this sleek EVER here... Being in this area always makes me think of ethnic studies classes and ethnic enclaves. I parked around the corner and as I walked towards the door, I saw the seating area they have set up out front. It's colorful. It's a long narrow bar with banquette seating, a stage and a DJ booth in the back. I'm not sure what the stage is for but it would probably work well for karaoke. The beers on tap were limited and they ran out of Blue Moon early. The food was ok and the service was interesting. The owner, Shirley, was a sweetheart and really quick with everything. She let some drunkies get behind the bar with her and the bartenders for pictures and also participated in the tricep push up competition that my lady friends seem to enjoy doing out in public these days. We are all taking our fitness more seriously but I tend to save it for the gym when I am not drinking. It was a good place to throw an event and it was fun to see my friends mixed in with the bikers and other regulars that rolled in later in the night. I hope there are pictures. read more

DAM. 2 reviews for this place before me. I knew I should have written it when I first joined! Anywho. The lady who owns this place (Shirley) is such a sweetie. She used to card me like mad crazy because she didn't believe I was over 21 ( I'll take that as a compliment). She recognizes me now and always says hello and takes good care of me. =) If you catch her on a good night, she'll probably play dice games and drink with you. She's done it with my friends on other occasions. It's a decent sized bar, pretty modern looking. They've got big screens and cute bartenders. My friend bartends here and she always always always tries to get me super wasted. The djs here mostly spin hip hop (one of the dj's is also my friend..) Anywho. The drinks are good (yes, the bartenders here actually have gone to bartending school), it's a mostly Asian crowd, sometimes parking is a bitch but it's usually not that hard to find parking in this area that late at night. I have been going to this place regularly and Bottom's Up is a great place to have a chill, fun, and amazing night with some music. There's usually a live DJ on the weekends bumping classics and club bangers (Hip-Hop & EDM). This place is definitely one of my go to bar/lounge in the Excelsior area. I love the venue, there is plenty of tables for seating and standing. Also has out door seating, if you prefer fresh air throughout the night. One great thing about this place is the staff, the bartenders are extremely nice and attentive. One thing in particular that I really enjoy is that fact that even though the bartenders are busy behind the counter, they will not forget to step out and check on the patrons seated at the tables. If you ever happen to feel the need for a drink and in the area, then hit up Bottom's up and if you're lucky enough to go at a night when Shirley, Cindy, Ana, or MaryAnne is working then you'll be taken care of for sure. Also keep in mind that the whole staff is amazing. I'm also very interested in seeing how the upper level lounge will turn out. read more
