My daughter, who was preparing for an imminent cross-country car trip, suddenly discovered that one of her tires was reported as low on air. She was unable to fill it up with her compressor. She called AAA, and they were also unable to fill it, so they towed it to Meineke in Beverly. It was near the end of the business day, so she figured they'd get to it the following day. What she didn't know was that the shop would be closed for the following four days. The next morning (before we knew that Meineke was closed), I had called and left a message on their voicemail. Then we learned about the closure, so my daughter started to figure out how to get her car towed elsewhere. However, to my very pleasant surprise, Chris from Meineke called me back. Apparently, he was catching up on some work during the closure, and had a mechanic on emergency standby. I described the situation to him, and he said he'd see what he could do. The next thing we knew, Chris and the mechanic, Paul, had thoroughly checked the bad tire for leaks, checked the valves on all four tires, fixed the valves on two of them, topped off the fluids, and checked and inflated the spare tire in preparation for the long drive ahead. All without requesting any compensation at all, on a day that they weren't even open! This saved my daughter considerable aggravation, time, and money. It was truly above-and-beyond. I'm very happy with my most recent experience at meineke. I called just before 9am on a Saturday and explained that my check engine light was on and ask if they could look into it. They agreed to have me come in at 10am. When I arrive they were friendly and quickly took my car in to be inspected. They were extremely busy with appointments and calls but took time with every customer to ensure they were taken care of. Their inspection diagnoses was that my gas cap was loose which was triggering a sensor. They advised me to come back after the freezing weather if the light came back on. They also filled up my tires because I had low pressure in one of them. They didn't charge me for any of this which I appreciated. I brought the car at 11:00am for oil change, went back to pick it up at 2:30pm, they did not even bring the car into the shop yet. Two good experiences. Nissan dealer quoted 600 for a muffler repair and sent me to Meineke where they did it for $300, and after 5 years the muffler is still good and guaranteed. Then a few weeks ago, the Subaru dealer told me a needed a new center pipe (between catalytic converter and muffler) and quoted $660 with a mandatory pre-payment for the part. Went to Meineke; it was a loose bracket that he fixed for free while I waited! This is where I'll bring my muffler issues in the future. read more

Wasn't sure I was going to make it in time after work for my state inspection but I called ahead and Tim was very helpful and squeezed me in. The inspection only took about 10 - 15 minutes. During our most recent visit, it was time for a battery replacement. When the part was identified, a recommendation was made that saved us hundreds of dollars, and the job was completed within the hour. I am actually from the South Shore but currently up here a few days a week. I worried about mechanics because good/honest ones are hard to find. Well if you are looking for good, honest, knowledgeable & especially timely place then look no further. I had some trouble with my Jeep & these guys, especially the manager Bill M, were wonderful. They explained everything gave me options & more importantly had my vehicle back quick. Look being a female lots of places will take advantage & assume you have no idea how a car really works. Like many, I'm generally skeptical about mechanics. The thought of what goes on in the bay while I'm waiting for car repairs often crosses my mind. I haven't felt that way at this Meineke location. Reasons for my business: 1) Clear and honest communication 2) Fair pricing (called around for quotes on separate occasions). 3) Flexible shop hours. A lot of shops in Beverly are closed after normal business hours. Working 9-5, Saturday is typically the only convenient day for me to get work done on my car. They haven't turned me down on a Saturday. And if they can't fit me in when I call, they will reschedule for the next week without an issue. Was in town for some sales appointments. Driving a rental car and one of the tires had been losing air even though I had filled it at a gas station earlier in the day. Worried, I pulled in here to get it checked out. The people I dealt with were cordial and professional. They found the issue and was able to patch the tire, allowing me to get back on the road. Great first-time experience at Meineke! Came in to have my tire patched, but after inspecting it, Tim said a patch wouldn't work (the leak was on the shoulder of the tire), so he plugged it instead and didn't charge me for me. I appreciated his honesty and clearly explaining everything. Hopefully the plug works out (fingers crossed!), but if not he gave me a reasonable quote to replace the tire. Went there for a brake job , after 1 year brakes were squeaking again wanted pads replaced under lifetime warranty .. said it was front struts they replaced them for 300 still made the same noise they said it was rear struts another 300 Finally said it was brakes and want 850 for front brakes because rotors were grinding .. brought it to another mechanic he said tabs were broken off to stop the squeaking and that's why rotors grinded down .. they would not honor the pads only warranty even if it was dangerous to my family and children read more

For as long as I have owned cars the thought of going to a car dealership, dentist or mechanic all trigger the same negative and defensive feelings. Over the years I have gone to many mechanics and have moved on at the first sign of poor service, unnecessary recommendations or shady charges. With that said, I have been going to meineke in Beverly for a few months now and can honestly say that they are the best around. Today I was provided with the above and beyond service that creates a life long customer. I was having issues with a hard to reach light as well as noisy brakes. Tim, the manager, let me know what parts to buy to save some money and had his team install them for me. Then his team was trying to identify the problem with the breaks. When they had trouble, Chris, the owner, took it for a spin to identify the problem. Keep in mind this was a Saturday. He came back in and explained it to me like a friend and came up with a plan of action to get it fixed. Both are stand up guys and I was extremely impressed. Overall they stand by their service and truly go above and beyond. They care about their customers. I have gone here before and have found them honest and fair. Lets it face car maintenance is not cheap but I have found that they never do more than they have to do and what they do is reasonably priced for the work. I was going to another, well two other garages, and one was ridiculously expensive and mediocre work. While the other would make up problems to make $$$. Seriously!? They don't beat around the bush and they know what they are talking about. I just had my brakes done at Meineke and what a difference. Judging by how well they are working it will be a long time before I will this done again. This is not the first time I have had new brakes, but after the other garage did them there was little difference. I guess what I am trying to say is I have found a garage that I trust. My son goes to school in the area. When he told me his brakes were pulsing I went up and took it for a ride. Sounded awful. I took it to Meineke, fearing calipers, etc. Tim, nice guy, called me later to tel me it was a rust spot on the rotor, they drove it for a while and wore the spot off, everything else looked good, no charge. Had two experiences here. First time i went, I dropped off my car, but they never called me to inform me that my oil change was done as they said they would. Literally had to wait all day. When I finally did call they acted like I should have known it was sitting out there. Second time I went for my scheduled oil change, I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours, and when they brought it out, all they had done was check the breaks. I was a little dumbfounded as to where the miscommunication was, but with so many other shops in the neighborhood, I decided to just take it another business. Went here today. The guy working the front counter who seems to be in charge is aggressive, rude, and forceful. I went up the street got 4 tires for $350 vs $669 that they wanted to charge me. They also wouldn't give me a quote over the phone for tires which is the only place out of 3 that said that. Also called here 3 or so months ago to get quotes on brakes and same scenario, so it wasn't an isolated event. My wife and daughter were in there a few weeks ago to do an inspection sticker and she had a terrible experience and they were not considerate of her time at all. We have a 3 month year old guys... you have to be considerate of that. Bottom line: price too expensive. Service terrible. Jiffy lube is fast, affordable, and super friendly. I can imagine many other people have experienced something similar since it was not an isolated "bad day". Advice to company: hire someone who is patient and kind. I can imagine this impacts their financials big time. Also, you can't make this up he said "I would be hard pressed to sell you these tires since they are low end/ bottom shelf anyways" read more

I was excited to use Meineke as it is very close to where I live. But I have had some problems that I need to share. The main one was with my brakes and rotors. A year ago my rear brakes froze up on me. I had the car towed to Meineke and they cleaned the rotors (rather than replace them). The rear ceramic pads were replaced and I paid over $500. Fast forward to a few months back. Brought my car in with a continual tire pressure light on and asked them to check out the tires. I told Tim that I was concerned about the tires. Tim said it was just the air pressure and his famous last words to me were, "this car is perfectly safe." The fact of the matter was that the car was absolutely a danger. Soon after these famous last words, my rear tire blew out on the Mass pike (literally 2 major holes in the rear tire). I skipped Meineke and went to Hogan tire in Beverly where, upon closer inspection, they told me I needed all new rotors and brakes all the way around, and 2 new tires for the front in addition to the blown tire. I counted on Meineke to let me know if my car was a danger and they missed the boat. Plus I paid a lot of money for work that needs to be redone just one year later. Not a happy customer. read more

As a longtime customer of Meineke in Salem, I went in for a quick oil change expecting no issues. The guys at the counter told every single customer ahead of me they needed new brakes. When it was my turn to pay I was told that my brakes will start making a scraping noise before I get home. The mechanic pulled my car up front and gave me the same story. I pulled out of the shop and immediately noticed a new sound coming from the left side of the car which sounds like a loose belt. I've been driving my car for about 2 weeks now and my breaks still work fine with no issues with the brakes and a loose belt that wasn't there before I came in. The ironic part is that I do need a number of things done to the car, instead of noticing those issues I was sold the same issue as every customer who walked in the door. Perhaps everyone who visited that day really needed new brakes, but that's unlikely. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I went in on Veterans Day for an oil change. Excellent service, and really fast! In and out and though I know little about car repairs and maintenance, I swear my Jeep is running much more smoothly. No sooner did I look in the little manual that came with my car then to notice I wasn't allowed to drive my vehicle. I was immediately supposed to stop and contact the dealer.
