I wanted to spend my birthday dinner at someplace special and Bottega was the lucky spot. We had a reservation for a midweek dinner but it wasn't absolutely packed so may have been able to just walk in. They have a gorgeous indoor and outdoor seating area. Service was a 5/5 - always attentive, from water refills, ordering, etc. Drinks - we got the Italian Gin and tonic and a dirty martini. Both were made perfectly - the gin and tonic in particular was so fun and got spicier as the drink went on. Food- We tried the Insalatina di Cavoletti di Bruxelles and the arancini to start. The brussel salad had such wonderful light yet unique flavors, I feel like it was one of the best salads I've tried in a long time. The arancini were so so - not bad but maybe just not my thing. For our main we split the carbonara - we were told it would be quite al dente and rich. I will 100% agree with those comments - to me it was almost like completely al dente, giving you a gum chewing texture. The flavors were rich and complex but I think eating this myself would have made me way too full. They ended the meal with a light little birthday dessert of cookies which was great. While the food was tasty, it was not life changing and portions are small for the pricing. No free bread either :( read more

Ravioli is one of my weaknesses, so, naturally, Bottega's raviolo sparked my interest. We also ordered their arancini and wagyu cacio e pepe. The raviolo was my favorite, but definitely very heavy. On the other hand, the arancini, steak, and cacio e pepe all needed a touch of salt. After adding some, they were just right; besides the arancini, to which I'd skip next time. The wagyu steak was also cooked really well. I think if you're going to share everything, try not to order 2 cream-based pasta dishes otherwise it may be too rich. Service was fantastic. We asked if we could be moved to a more intimate two-seater and had no issue with that. They also gave us a free mini birthday dessert, which is always a really nice touch to the meal. After a disappointing start to the evening at another Napa restaurant, Bottega completely turned the night around. We were able to grab one of the last reservations of the evening, and after the short drive over, we were seated right at our 9:00 reservation time. From the moment we walked in, the hosts were warm and welcoming, and we knew we had made the right decision. One of the managers, Stephen, stopped by our table and welcomed us with complimentary glasses of Prosecco for the birthday celebration, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. We started with the Pasta Fritta con Prosciutto--crispy, rosemary-scented pasta dough wrapped in prosciutto with mascarpone espuma, honey, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. We also shared the Caesar Nero, made with little gem lettuce, black garlic, and Parmigiano crostini, which was fresh and flavorful. For cocktails, we both ordered the Porch Punch. Made with Redwood Empire Pipe Dream 101, yellow peach, oolong tea, lemon, vanilla, and clarified using the milk punch process, it tasted like a refreshing peach tea. The etched ice cubes with wine glasses and utensils were a small detail that made the presentation even more memorable. For our entrées, Face ordered the Salmon Risotto, while I had the Carbonara. The carbonara is topped with an activated charcoal Parmesan tuile, and while it looks dramatic, it doesn't change the flavor at all--it simply adds a beautiful presentation. The pasta was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Bottega didn't just serve us an incredible meal--they rescued what could have been a very disappointing birthday dinner. Bottega is one of our favorite Italian places. Julia made this evening very special with her knowledge and welcoming spirit. She helped us navigate the large menu to make the evening fantastic. Tonight we had the squash blossoms, pesce crudo, salmon risotto, peach burrata and peach tart. Unlike many places, the chef created delicate seasoned items that touched our palettes with different tastes that all worked well like a well tuned orchestra. We like restaurants that go the extra mile to provide linen tablecloths and new place settings for each course. The servers , back servers and management were all involved in this excellent experience. When all worked well together, what else can we do but give them 5+ stars. There's an open kitchen with a lot of space but still has a mixture of upscale and casual interior vibes. This restaurant was one of the only places I found in the area to have reservations for a party of 10 online without needing to call or do a pre-fixe menu. We got here right at our reservation time and were seated at a long table. What I liked were the tagliarini bolognese al centro ($32) and the wagyu polpette ($25). The calamari ($25) was decent and the patatine fritte e tartufo ($16) had big portions but could've used a little salt. The carbonara ($30) was cooked al dente and while we took the suggestion from the server we would've preferred a bit softer. We stopped by Bottega for lunch before a wine tasting and were immediately impressed by the beautiful ambiance and top tier service. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were soft and flavorful, though I personally prefer them a bit crispier. Similar to the carbonara, the added lemon flavor took away from the dish for me and overpowered some of the other flavors that would have otherwise shined. The arancini was excellent with a perfect ratio of rice to filling and an incredible cheese pull that made it a standout appetizer. However, our favorite starter, and arguably our favorite dish of the meal, was the Wagyu meatballs. They were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and paired with a sauce that was absolutely incredible. In fact, they were one of the best things we ate during our entire trip to Napa. I would highly recommend stopping in just to order the meatballs. I was especially excited for the fish, but unfortunately the combination of the salt block and caviar made the dish overwhelmingly salty for my taste. We truly came for the carbonara and were disappointed that it did not live up to our expectations. There were so many elements that would have made it a perfect dish. The pasta was cooked beautifully, the sauce was rich, and the guanciale was perfectly prepared. However, an added citrus or lemon flavor overpowered the classic flavors we were hoping for and took away from what otherwise could have been an outstanding carbonara. The star of the meal was the Raviolo. Between the egg yolk, truffles, brown butter, and the rich filling, every bite was exceptional. It was easily one of the best ravioli dishes I've ever had and a dish I would return for without hesitation. Even the bread service was memorable. The Parmesan and garlic accompaniment was absolutely delicious and set the tone for the meal from the very beginning. While not every dish was a perfect fit for our preferences, the atmosphere, service, and standout dishes made Bottega a memorable stop in Napa. I ordered the Branzino alla Griglia which is wood grilled branzino with lemon preserve sauce, heirloom tomato panzanella insalatina. It was good but the branzino was a bit salty. I didn't say anything as another friend of mine ordered the Lasagnetta di Zucchine & mentioned the potatoes weren't cooked & the lasagna was a bit burnt. She mentioned something to the staff & manager. They were going to make her another one but she didn't want it or anything else. I didn't want to say anything as I didn't want to look like we're just complaining about everything. My other friends ordered the carbonera & steak & raviolo. They enjoyed their dishes. The steak comes with a lot of fries. My friend couldn't finish the fries at all but definitely fries can be shared. I Loved the salad that came with my branzino especially the heirloom tomatoes. It really helped with the saltiness. We Also ordered the calamari & the wagyu meatballs. The calamari was really good especially the aioli nero sauce was perfect with it. I didn't try the wagyu meatballs but everyone loved it especially the sauce. I actually loved the butter garlic sauce that comes with the bread. They charge $2 for bread. Staff were friendly. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I shared the Calamari Fritti with my wife. It was crispy and cooked well, but the flavor was just average. I'd give it a 3/5. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the standout of the meal. The Brasato di Manzo (braised short rib) was excellent and was the days special. It was fork-tender, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The presentation was beautiful, and the broccolini was a great side that balanced the richness of the dish. Overall, we had a really good experience and enjoyed celebrating a special occasion here. My husband and I came here on Mother's Day while we were visiting Napa. In some poor planning on my part, I hadn't realized that we would be on here on Mother's Day weekend, and would probably need a reservation for lunch somewhere, which resulted in me scrambling to get a last-minute reservation the day before. Bottega wasn't our first choice for lunch that day, but it was a decent one, and one of the few restaurants in Yountville that could offer us a lunch reservation that day with our small dog. We had a very good appetizer of burrata with peaches and balsamic pearls. Unfortunately that was the best dish. I got the lasagnetta di zucchine for my main, which was like a version of lasagna with thinly sliced zucchini instead of lasagna sheets. It would be great for anyone who wants a lighter version of lasagna, and it proved to be a good main on this hot day. My husband got the Sophia Loren spaghetti. Not sure if it's optional but they did just put the bread on the table and found it was added to the bill at the end. I guess it's determined when you don't get bottled water? We got a round of the Passionfruit Margs, which were a hit, as well as their tasty negroni's, and their Prickly Bear Sour (sadly no bear ice cube tonight). I've been coming here for over 5 years and it's still my favorite restaurant in Yountville. The service is beyond amazing and the way the manager Steven runs the place is truly unique in that he treats everyone like family. He goes to each and every table to say hi and check on his guests. It's rare for a restaurant manager to do that. His hospitality is unmatched and he is very humble. The staff is amazing - Michael, Jonathan, Eric's the bartenders there's two of them. It's not a kid friendly place but I brought my kids there a few weeks ago for my moms birthday but as they were winding down lunch service so we wouldn't disturb other patrons and they were beyond nice to me still. We stayed almost 3 hours outside and they were so accommodating with my kids . Again, very rare for a restaurant like this to be so kind and not annoyed with me for my kids being there. The raviolio is a dish I have to have at least every month if not every 2 weeks. Every dish is absolutely fantastic but the raviolio is out of this world and I've never been disappointed with that dish or any other dish. Was there tonight and still just blown away by the hospitality and the raviolio. It never gets old for me. Chef Alex does an amazing job and even after Michael Chiarello passed away, chef Alex continues to make every dish taste like you're in Italy. Forgot phone eats first because I was hungry, but the salmon was cooked perfectly and the rice was creamy and it hit the spot. The wine pair with the salmon dish was wonderful. The hard piece of bread in the broth was confusing as it's not propped on the side, but rather sitting within the broth. We all were wondering what that was! Wagyu Tomahawk - Perfect cook at a medium & perfectly sliced to share. Conserva d' Anatra - I'm not a big fan of duck, but this was pretty good! This had the right cook and crisp on the duck. Carbonara al Carbon - I'm a big fan of charcoal but this is the very first time I've had it in a pasta. This dish works though with the meld of the runny yolk & savory pasta Ricotta Gnocchi della Nonna - As described, these were divine with its pillowy softness. After that there was an anniversary card that was placed on our table. The tables are placed quite close to the other tables. You can easily eavesdrop into other peoples conversations with meaning to. so it's not as intimate as some may like. Service was fine although they could be a little bit quicker. We're pretty understanding so it didn't bother us too much. Overall food and wine were good. If you want to save a few bucks on wine you can bring in your own and just pay a corkage fee. I opted for the prix fie menu for $60/person as it was Napa restaurant month. I'm knocking off a star because they charge $2/person for the bread. Seems pretty ridiculous. Nestled in a very cute Italian themed town with easily accessible parking this was definitely nice for aesthetics .It's a beautiful establishment with a very high end feel. We were sat almost immediately. We had a view of the kitchen which was cool. Definitely on the pricier side but everything seemed almost Michelin level. Service was good though toward the end it took us forever to get our check. Like other restaurants we partroned- no one askes how you would like it. They just put everything on one check. The pasta sauce is light and the freshly made pasta wound into a tight nest. Delicious. Bottega has a beautiful setting and, as expected, an excellent wine selection. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. However, we were disappointed with the pasta dishes. Both the carbonara and the risotto were so heavily salted that they became nearly inedible. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish them. Had a celebratory dinner here and splurged and it did NOT disappoint! Service was fantastic from the start. We ordered cocktails and opened a bottle of wine we brought. We shared a few apps, the prosciutto pasta dough puff was the star, would likely skip the caesar next time. We got the lamb, veal Bolognese, gnocchi, and cacio e pepe waygu. I cannot believe it's taken this long to dine here!! Everything about this place says AMAZING! Service, ambiance, location and food! Just excellent. Loved the Brussels salad. The lemon dressing is perfect. I had the raviolo and it was sooo good. Puffy and soft deliciousness. We were checked on several times with friendly service. I love the not so serious romantic vibe (at least where we sat). It was the perfect touch for our anniversary lunch. I would absolutely come back and dine here. Plenty of parking and take some time to take a stroll afterwards. read more

I think this might be my favorite Italian restaurant in the greater Bay Area / Northern California area to date! From an ambiance perspective: the covered patio felt refreshing but still secluded from people walking by, and it was dim without being too dark. It was busy and lively without being too loud. Great date night spot! From a service perspective: we had a great waitress. She was personable, had good recommendations for us, and was attentive without being overbearing. For food: we loved everything we ordered, including the complimentary bread with garlic olive oil dip. The octopus was tender and the Caesar salad was flavorful without being over-dressed. The carbonara with activated charcoal pasta was unique and SO delicious. The pasta was al dente and the carbonara was the right eggy consistency, and had a good balance with the salty guanciale. Our steak was cooked perfect medium rare and the char flavor tasted good with the cacio e pepe. We also enjoyed both the cannolis and donuts for dessert! The orange flavor on the cannolis was refreshing and something different, and the chocolate for the donut holes was very rich. Will definitely look forward to coming back here again! read more

Tonight we came to Bottega for my birthday and I was blown away by how caring Adam was. This is a manager that checks on his patrons. The Crudo and Bolognese were amazing. The restaurant is dimly lit and cozy, perfect for a celebration or date night. 10/10 highly recommend and so grateful to Adam for making my birthday so special. read more
