Had the red beans with fried catfish special today. WOW! Beans were cooked perfectly, creamy and seasoned great. The fish were hot and flaky, not greasy or oily. My compliments to the chef! That lunch set me right!! Great attentive service. Nice atmosphere, not loud and crazy with music like in some restaurants. Decor was nice to look at. Came with a group, so we tried a variety of appetizers. Bacon wrapped shrimp, crawfish bread& boudin balls. The entree was the star of the show. The blackened redfish. We came around lunch time so it was pretty busy. The issue we had one of the entrees was left off the order so the person in our group didn't receive their food until we were all pretty much done eating. Service was really good. The onion rings were homemade and were good. My wife had the pecan crusted catfish. She said it wasn't very good. Overcooked and the crust wasn't staying on the fish. Sides were the mixed vegetables and they were ok. I had the three meat platter. The pork belly had good flavor but was fried out and too chewy. Sausage was just ok. This place is a quaint little farm house style restaurant in the middle of Saint Rose. I am glad to see this area is stepping up their game and adding not just brunch here but a bottomless brunch. I came here for brunch and ordered the traditional benny with a French 75 and that French 75 was equal to someone you'd get at the French 75 bar downtown. The benny was not though, sadly. I think the hollandaise sauce makes the benny and it just wasn't totally on point. Not enough lemon or salt, I think. We as a table ordered the monkey bread, it had a sticky but surprising flavor to it that I wasn't sure I liked at first, but I ended up finishing it. The fritters were not for me though. The coffee I ordered tasted fine. Nothing special about that. The food, was mostly average. The ambient and decor, I absolutely loved. It was almost like a Crack a Barrel or something. Just very country and fun decor. Also, the service was fantastic. The waitress couldn't have been more pleasing and kind. The manager came out to greet us as well, which is always good in my books. I think I would I would go back and try that monte Cristo. Not many places that I am aware have that on the menu anymore, not since good ole Bennnigans. Excellent experience Out of the NOLA area but near-ish the airport. Worth the trip. Solid traditional LA fare in a clean and friendly space. Sort of a gentrified Crackle Barrel and gas station settings... really fun. The chicken and waffles were great ... as were all the other po-boys. Lunch service was fantastic. While we expected a long wait on Mother's Day, we did not expect to be seated, yet completely ignored. We begged the hostess to find a waitress and she brought one glass of water (for 4 of us). We finally walked to the bar and were able to get soft drinks ourselves. Every table around us had arrived after us, yet ordered and had food long before we did. If you can't handle a crowd, you should turn away the business. Waiting 2.5 hours for service with absolutely zero communication is horrible. There are too many great places around to eat with better service. Save yourself the time and agony and go elsewhere. read more

First time here for a Luncheon Birthday party of 12, they knew we were coming. Original room was too small so we were moved to a large table in the main dining room. We had to ask for menus and silverware set ups. Restaurant was not crowded (3 other customers). No one brought us water. Asked for a soda 3 times, was told "I'm getting it." The soda never showed up. Waitress or bar person kept talking about her cocktails. Finally managed to take our orders after a considerable delay and then it was a very long time before any of the food showed up, we were never offered any further sodas or drinks except a few cocktails that people specifically ordered. One of the ladies ordered a poinsettia which is a mimosa with cranberry juice and non-alcoholic champagne she was brought the poinsettia but it had alcohol and had to be returned it was never replaced and it was charged on her bill, it was eventually removed.Food was very slow in coming out. The waitress kept saying "I'm going to get to it". Several to go orders were never placed and we had to wait extra . Food was good when it finally arrived but the wait was terrible. Initially I thought that this would be a good restaurant to come to for a family Sunday drive but I have now reconsidered and we will not be returning. I'm sorry they must have been having a bad day but it was not good at all and considering the restaurant was practically empty, again no excuse. read more

I was concerned when my party of three arrived at two o'clock only to be told by waitress it would be be at least a forty five minute wait. There were multiple open tables and the bar area was nearly empty. Although we opted to wait, I watched her discourage multiple prospective diners from staying. Our wait was only twenty minutes at the most. This most likely costs the owner several hundreds of potential revenue. Our wait time was actually less than twenty minutes. When I visited the ladies room there was no toilet paper in the stall. A nice lady saved the day and passed me a few squares after several minutes. When I flushed the toilet, it backed up. At that point I was ready to go. However I was convinced to stick around by my dining companions. A different waitress, April, took our order and was absolutely lovely. She was very apologetic for the wait and extremely accommodating. We ordered the oysters as an appetizer and they were delicious. Tangy, savory, cheesy and served piping hot. We also ordered the mixed seafood platter, the mixed barbecue platter and a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. The gumbo was extremely salty. I was unable to eat it. The seafood platter was good however it was served lukewarm. I don't care for battered catfish; it was mediocre at best. The barbecue platter was, however, was excellent. The standouts were the sides of potato salad and slaw. I would definitely give them another chance as the waitress explained they were working three people short. April was an exceptional server and more than made up for the rude person at the beginning of the experience. read more

So, I really wanted to love this place. I've been here before and was mostly satisfied. Today I went with my parents for their first time on Sunday and we ordered both off the brunch menu and regular menu. I'm sorry for the lack of pictures. I ordered a shrimp poboy. It was indeed packed full of shrimp, with extras falling all around, which was great. However, the poboy was served open-faced and the French bread had been toasted on both sides to oblivion, so that the bread completely crumbled to the touch, making it difficult to fold and eat a sandwich that way. Even though there were no visible burnt portions, you could still taste the burn on the bread. You are only given cloth napkins, which makes the crumbling mess in your hands very difficult to manage, shaking crumbs all over the floor to avoid them being in my lap. The shrimp breading was light which I appreciated, but lacking any other flavor besides salt. I did sub the fries for the vegetable medley of the day (zucchini, squash, broccoli) and this was excellent! My mom had the chorizo breakfast bowl (only because they were out of ham for her first choice, the Monte Cristo sandwich). She said it was good, but still lacked something. She also ordered coffee, but they were having some weird issue with the coffee pot tripping a breaker and couldn't produce any coffee at brunch. The waitress said she'd check back in if it was resolved, but we never heard back. My dad got the breakfast tacos, which I have to say was the saddest representation of any type of tacos I have seen. I was embarrassed when this plate was placed before him. He has dementia and doesn't always comprehend the menu choices. This however was completely misrepresented. It was a piece of scrambled egg, reheated round sausage patties, a tiny bit of shredded cheddar placed on top of dry tortillas with some kind of dark brown cubed potatoes on the side and a condiment cup of ketchup. I'm not sure in what universe this would be considered a "taco" other than there was a tortilla perfunctorily added. There was zero seasoning, sauce or anything that brought this dish together and he declared it as "terrible". He only brought it home in an attempt to rework the sausage into something more palatable. My dad said he'd never return and that makes me rather sad for a local establishment. I'd be willing to try for a 3rd time, though it seems the dishes are rather hit or miss. read more

We were looking for a spot away from the city traffic and found this place here on yelp. So glad I did! Loved the atmosphere here. You can sit inside, or there's a great courtyard outside and even a covered porch in between. I was thinking bar b q because we walked past the great smelling smoker on our way in, but when I saw the daily special I had to have it. It was a fillet on top of angel hair pasta and smothered with a creamy seafood sauce. Yummy! My wife had the fish tacos. Warning. They are spicy hot. I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu It was so awesome We started with lil jalapeño, cornbread muffins that they brought to the table with some honey butter. We ordered crawfish bread for an appetizer. After that my husband got the fish of the day that was covered in a light crawfish cream sauce, homemade mashed potatoes and asparagus. Relaxed vibe. Always consistent. Service is always prompt and courteous! I typically get the same appetizer which is the Boudreaux Nachos because they are so amazing. But I try different entrees and I have never been disappointed! Fresh and flavorful. Not every dish is for everyone as everyone's palette is different. My only suggestion is to try it for yourself. It's not fast food and it's not a chain restaurant which is hard to come by. And a big plus is it has delicious seafood dishes! Which is also rare these days! read more

Came for Mother's Day hoping to have a nice meal at a place we had heard was great. Sadly it was a huge let down, the food was disgusting, the wait staff was awful, and the manager was extremely rude. Let's start from the beginning. We had reservations around lunch, the place was packed and we were seated at 1:45 (no big deal). This is where it gets ridiculous, we ordered drinks and waited 45 minutes to get drinks. We then ordered appetizers, waited 1:30 minutes more for those. Finally our food came out 45 minutes after that. For a total of a lunch that lasted 4 hours waiting for food. It took us an hour and a half to get silverware! We hunted down the waitress and they keep telling us it was coming, we had to walk up to the bar ourselves to get our drinks the waitress never offered refilled or anything. When we sat down my girlfriend was seated in a corner that had so much food, dirty napkins, and other things that apparently a roach wanted to come get some! So there was a roach on top of her sitting in other people's food. When we finally got our meals 4/6 of them were terrible. The crab cake Benedict was frozen crab cakes, the shrimp and grits uses boxed grits they throw slices of cheese in and it was clumpy and the grits weren't even fully cooked, the pork belly tacos the pork belly was hard as rocks, and the shrimp scampi was unseasoned butter with noodles and shrimp. When we told management she was extremely rude to us and said "well do you want me to just take everything off" in such a mean tone. We were patient and we got treated like we were the problem after dining for 4 hours that should've been a hour meal at most. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

We want this restaurant to thrive so badly. It's convenient and more upscale than most other dining options in the area. The decor is fun and attractive. There's outdoor seating with a cool vibe. This concludes the optimistic part of my review. I've been here 4 times hoping that the negative experiences were just opening birth pangs. Every, and I do mean Ev.er.y time we've eaten here, the food has been delivered in shifts and it's all cold. There's so much fried food on the menu and cold fried food is the absolute worst. Like biting into shortening. The service is random. The staff are all extremely nice but not at all conscientious about keeping drinks filled, delivering condiments and extra plates, or general attentiveness. We had the sampler plate delivered without any brisket on it. The jalapeño cornbread is dry as a bone. (Add an extra egg.) There's not a lot of meat on the sandwiches. Salad came drenched in dressing after I had requested on the side. Six in our party and our food was delivered one at a time for about 30 minutes. Party of 7 took 2 hours to be waited on, be served cold, get our check and pay out. I really wish the owners would try to improve these issues. I want them to succeed. I know prices are going up across the board but I'm struggling to find value in anything we've tried so far. read more

I came to this restaurant with my boyfriend and his family on Mother's Day. I wanted to add more details that were forgotten. All of the stalls in the women's restroom did not have any toilet paper. We had to hunt down silverware for our table twice. They did not bring any silverware, and then we had to go find someone to bring us enough for the entire table as 3 sets of silverware is not enough for 7 people. Don't drink your drinks at a normal pace because you will be waiting for over an hour for a refill... The manager was a rude woman, who yanked my plate from me and the knife from my boyfriend to "test" the pork belly to see if it was as hard as we were saying. It was. Then she said that this is not a Mexican place, and it is cooked like bacon. My mistake (but I also didn't like the flavor of it LOL)!! My order came with sweet potato fries, and it was supposed to come with regular fries. My food was cold compared to other's. We didn't even mention that due to the rude attitude we got from her. The shrimp scampi was disgusting, crab cakes nasty, etc! I know it can be hard to handle a larger party, but they accepted these reservations and there was nothing but families there. I would take your business to places more deserving and do not waste your time here. They are lucky I did not make a scene over the roaches being under the table. We were not the only table complaining about the food, service, etc. As we were leaving, this table stopped us to complain since they heard us talking about the horrible experience we had. The server happened to give one of the customers her food and it was completely wrong. They failed to tell her they ran out of catfish and they decided to give her an entirely different meal without her knowledge. Stopped in for lunch today after visiting Destrehan Plantation. The food was excellent and the atmosphere and staff were great! I highly recommend for lunch or dinner. We had the steak burger, brisket sandwich, chicken sandwich, nachos, kids catfish and shrimp, cornbread jalapeño muffins and jalapeño coleslaw. All were very good!
