The bakery gets a solid five stars--one of the best old school bakeries I've ever patronized. My fav is the rare Gibassier, with its subtle anise and orange flavoring. Their bread is the best you'll find. The staff is always pleasant. The only suggestions I have: Bake more items so that you are not always out, and adjust hours to be open longer. read more

Well, here we are again, and sure enough we're on our way to Door County.  This time, I thought I would call ahead on a Saturday morning to reserve a couple of almond croissants as they always disappear readily.  No one answered, and I subsequently learned that their policy is not to answer the phone on Saturdays as they are too busy!  So, now you know. We arrived at 10:30am, and sure enough no more almond croissants. Oh well, we still bought a croissant au beurre, a danish, and a couple loaves of bread.  We had the pastries for a mid-morning snack and they were tip-top fresh and delicious as expected.   You can't go wrong buying anything from here, and til the next time! read more

I have never been to a better bakery than this. When I go to other French bakeries I compare them to this one. The shop as a whole has a rustic ambiance and the smell of fresh bread lures you in. Whenever I go the staff is kind and welcoming. They are happy to be there that gives the shop a very comfortable atmosphere. My favorite thing I get is the butter croissant. It is light and flaky while still having a chewy buttery interior. The layers in the croissant are beautiful. It is the best croissant I've ever had. I can also never pass up on the morning bun. It is very sweet but very very delicious. It has an amazing bite that's is firm but softens after a few chews. The interior is layered like the croissant but a little denser. It goes great paired with coffee that is a little bitter to help cut the sweetness but is also good alone. Finally I like to get the Pain De Campagne which their white roll. It is what you look for in a great roll: crusty exterior and soft interior. They offer butter with the rolls and I always say yes. I tell everyone about this place and how good it is; it is definitely worth going!! read more

Fabulous breads with a rotating menu five days per week. This is a small European bakery - mostly for take out, though they do have small tables, coffee and other beverages for enjoying their goods on site. Note they close at 2 pm, but sometimes sell out of breads much sooner! read more

First of all, their product is top notch. It's so dang good; I get Christmas brunch from here every year. So my prior review hasn't changed in that regard. However, I'm very disappointed they have decided to get rid of the German pretzels AND adjust their hours so much. First, they dropped pretzels on Wednesday and then recently, I went in to pick up my family's favorite Saturday treat and they now don't have them at all. Most times I would go later than 1pm they would be sold out- so I'm not sure why this choice was made :( Moreover, the hours are very inconvenient for anyone who works full time as they close no later than 4 and aren't open Monday or Sunday. I used to be able to stop by 2-3x/ week to get ciabatta or French bread for dinners. However, I haven't been able to come in for months! If I go the ONE day I am able to, (Saturday) I'm limited to that menu and I have to fight the weekend downtown Cedarburg parking zoo, hoping I get there before the oot's have bought up everything. I love the place and the staff has always been very friendly; traditional stop when I can get there. However, I am very unhappy that my weekday bakery for dinner and German pretzel stop is no longer an option. :( read more

The breads and pastries at Boulangerie Du Monde are sooo good! We went in the afternoon for a little snack. We sat outside in front of the shop.There were tables and chairs that made it so convenient to enjoy our fresh and tasty rolls. The storefront is adorable from the outside. The windows are filled with breads of all shapes and sizes. The look was so inviting. Sadly, once inside the atmosphere did not match the gorgeous storefront windows. I know with COVID safety protocols are in place, but I was just a bit letdown by the look of everything. The staff was very nice and helpful. The selection of bakery goods was limited because it was later in the day. But the breads we tried were absolutely delicious. It was a nice experience . The next time I am in town, I would certainly stop in again - probably early in the day to see more choices. read more

Fudge/candy, Ice Cream, small restaurants, lavish watered down lattes, and small shops containing overpriced items. Boulangerie Du Monde is the anomaly with excellent fresh baled goods. While you will pay a higher price, this is one case In Cedarburg that "you get what you pay for". My wife is German(actually from Germany) and compares the croissant to those made in Metz France. We found out the baker is European and has ingredients, namely butter, imported from France. Such a delight ever time we come here! read more

In a word, delicious! We came in on a Packers Sunday afternoon and were lucky to find many pastries still available (we were told they usually sell out fast). If you'd like to feel as though you've been transported to a Cafe in Paris - this is the real deal. From the cute tables and chairs, to the authentic baked goods, imported jams, and breads, this place is amazing. The only thing that didn't quite fit, was the friendly service with a smile, a welcome improvement on the French experience, IMO. We tried the Champagne bread, classic and chocolate croissant, morning bun, and a whole grain bread.
