Positive: I spoke with a staff member about their GF options. She seemed quite knowledgeable which I really appreciated. Based on what was offered as GF I ordered a burger (bun less even tho they offer GF bun). (Pick up order... fyi, we live less than 1 mile away from the restaurant). Cons: I was never asked how I would like my burger done... which for me is typically not a problem as I am satisfied with a burger anywhere from medium to well done. However..... this burger was quite a bit more than well done. It was black charred on both sides and very dry in the middle. So bummed! I understand that everything is more expensive now a days... for a variety of reasons, but this was supposed to be a basic cheeseburger.... Excellent food and even better service. We sat at the bar, mike was our bartender he was awesome at suggesting beers based on our preferences and suggesting awesome appetizers! Super friendly and knowledgeable! Great experience and walking distance from our hotel room! We'd definitely return if we were back in town! Tons of beer options. All delicious. We came to pick up a delivery order and it was not ready when I got there which is sometimes normal. I was quoted 10 minutes for my order to be done after 20 minutes I asked how long it would be and was told another 10 minutes this takes money out of my pocket, and it seems unreal that it would take 30 minutes to make two burgers, a side of boneless wings, and some onion rings. It leads me to believe that my order was not even started until after I inquired the second time and that delivery orders are just pushed to the back burner. I don't think it's fair even though I'm just a delivery driver that I have to wait 30 minutes for an order nobody not even a visiting customers should have to wait 30 minutes for an order like that when the volume of the restaurant isn't even busy. This wasn't exactly on our route from SD to Minneapolis but the kiddo wanted sweet potato fries and the internet told us we could find them here. They were really good with a yummy zesty dipping sauce. Our waiter was friendly and quick and there's a ton of seating so we didn't feel bad about taking our time. Having just moved to the Mankato area for the summer, this was my first pit stop on places to eat in the area. The place in itself is pretty neat when it comes to the beer selection. They have a club you can join where you can earn prizes. If you get to the point where you try enough, you get a tap with your signature on the wall. Continuing onto the food, I was slightly unimpressed. For an appetizer, we started off with pretzels and cheese. The pretzels themselves tasted like they were reheated in the microwave. The cheese was tasty but was not anything to write home about. For entrées, we both ordered burgers. I ordered the spicy jalapeño burger, the fella ordered a bbq burger. Both burgers were pretty tasty. The side items were average. My French fries were cold and lacked salt, his broccoli was hard and had no real taste. Overall, I will be back for some for brews. Disappointing on several levels. It would be easy to blame covid, but other places are operating in the same environment and doing a much better job. Their menu gives a lot of real estate to their burgers, so we expected them to be good. They were not. They patty looked like it was made by a machine and tasted like it had been frozen for a long time. It is best described as a hockey puck. Hard, dry and flavorless. The staff is not enjoying their time at work at all. It seemed they were most focused on chatting amongst themselves and telling customers when they needed to leave. It was a bit busy due to Father's Day, but not exceptionally busy. It still took almost an hour for our food to come, and when we asked our server what was going on he said too many people had ordered burgers and they were super backed up. Burgers are the specialty here so it seems strange that people ordering burgers would throw their kitchen off so significantly. When our food did come out, the burgers were crispy/super overdone, the fries were room temperature at best, and several of our burgers were missing their toppings (for example the Jalapeño Cheddar Bacon Burger had no jalapeños or cheddar; just bacon and sauce). For as long as we waited, I guess we were hoping for more. Our family will probably give it another chance on a quieter day, but I wouldn't recommend going here if you don't have at least 2 hours to dedicate to the experience. read more

This is probably the best venue in all of Mankato. I was with a customer for dinner. We started out with homemade tots which were awesome. I had an Alaskan Baltic Porter on draft while my colleague had a Pineapple Whiskey Mule. Great beverages and great service. For dinner, my customer started with a "build your own burger" where she added cheese curds and avocado. I had the Carnitas Pork Tacos which had 3 soft shell tacos and pulled pork in the center. Not too bad. Very satisfying. I finished with a Squatters Hop Rising IPA which was excellent and should have started with that. read more

I pretty much just wanted to stop here for a beer since they have a great selection of beers on tap (including some local brews). I went with the Mudman Chocolate Porter from Lake Monster Brewing. Probably not the best choice for a hot summer day, but I enjoyed it. My friend insisted on also getting the cheese curds as a light snack because reviews had recommended them. We obviously had no idea what we were in for as she asked for the large order that we just couldn't finish. Through our Minnesota adventures I've discovered that no two cheese curds are alike. These were the most unique that we found as they were presented as large squares. Not at all what we expected. But not in a bad way. Service could have been a bit more attentive. Seems like your basic sports bar with a good craft beer selection. I don't know that I'd go back just for a beer, but it might be a fun place to sit at the bar and watch a game for a few hours. read more

An impromptu stop while in the area for a softball tourney. Boulder Tap House is located in your standard run of the mill chain box but once inside, the we experienced a number of pleasant surprises. The place is open with a bar in the center and tables surrounding. Not too noisy but just right for young kids who may have the hangry's. The servers sat us promptly and found us a booth. The waitress was with us in no time for first beverage orders and no pressure for the fine craft beer or appetizers. Lots of monitor is sports is your thing. The craft beer list is impressive. Numerous MN based craft brews from Mankato and as far as Duluth (Bent Paddle). I opted for the Raspberry Jam but was tempted by the Porter with Peanut Butter and Vanilla. Both my wife and I had tacos. She had fish tacos and I had carnitas tacos. Tacos come with an option of rice and beans or chips. We opted for rice and beans. The carnitas tacos were awesome. The fish tacos were a little light on fish. Both plates were returned clean. Bill total for two with one 10 oz craft beer tax and tip - $40. I would have rated Boulder a 4 if not for my wife's comment fish tacos were scarce of fish. My wife isn't a big eater so the fish must have been a scarce. Give it a try. I'll be back if I'm in the area looking for some gold comfort food and a cold craft beer. read more

I've been to Boulder Tap House at least five or six times since it opened. I was apprehensive at first, because in my opinion the last thing Mankato needs is another sports bar chain (whether local or not). However, if it's bar food you're into, you won't be disappointed. They have the best beer selection in Mankato, which is fun if you're into trying microbrews. They have excellent sweet potato fries (get them with the chipotle ranch dressing). We also are fans of the Parmesan fries. You can create your own burger based on their available ingredients. Our kids love the Fried Egg and Cheddar burger. Service is hit-or-miss, and sometimes it can be really loud in the restaurant. I do wish their menu was a bit more varied, but still a good choice for bar food in Mankato. read more

I'm not going to bother waiting for my food to arrive before my review because the lack of flexibility at this place has me livid. The appetizer menu has a burger slider dish which includes a Steakhouse burger, a Cheese Curd burger, and a Brown Sugar burger. The menu states no substitutions which presumably is to prevent people from changing the TYPE of burgers in the dish...and rightfully so. I asked for the dish with no pickles and was told I could not do that. I absolutely HATE pickles. I don't want them anywhere on my plate because I don't like the pickle juice touching my food. To add insult to injury, the pickles come ON the slider, not even on the side. No pickles is an omission, not a substitution. I ended up FORCED to select a different dish. I travel all over the country for work and I have NEVER been told that I couldn't request "no pickles". This is the most ridiculous and customer-unfriendly policy I have EVER encountered. What if I was allergic to pickles or the brine that they sit in? At this point, I don't even care if the food is good. The service warrants 1 star. BTW, this is not a reflection on our server. He was very nice and apologetic throughout the entire ordeal. read more

This is one of my favorite burger joints in town, the best beer selection in town and they utilize the local bakery in their specials.

Their cheese curds are really good! I tried a couple of their burgers, which were alright, but nothing to necessarily crave for.

One word... overpriced. My stuffed burger was over cooked. My son's chicken was rubbery. My husband's Philly cheese steak was burned and dry. My daughter's sandwich was, in her words, nothing special. Honestly...I won't be back. 100% disappointed. read more

My husband and I stopped to eat at the Taphouse yesterday because of the Celiac menu that was advertised. There were multiple options available and I opted for the burger with a gluten free bun and fruit. The service was great and our waitress was awesome, the food was good in taste but within 10 minutes after completing my meal I could tell I had been glutened. if it were not for the gluten ease tablets I took while eating my meal, I would have been in a lot worse shape. I was also given a Dole fruit cup in plastic container like you can purchase at the store. I don't know if they do that to avoid cross contamination but I was expecting fresh cut fruit. Overall, the experience was ok. I would eat there again but maybe try a different menu option next time and be prepared with my gluten ease tablets. read more

Was reviewing the menu prior to arrival and wanted to try the peanut butter burger or the defibrillator. Then I saw the prices...the 1 pound defib was only $3 more...that was the deciding factor. I got the big one. I was very happy with my choice. The burger comes with cheese curds (which are the best I have had) pickled peppers (for a nice fresh taste) and bacon...oh the bacon. I was super happy to see that this place was within walking distance from my motel. I was equally excited to see that it was kinda empty, the bar is the center piece and its a big place. There are a few tvs if I remember correctly. I was more focused on the decent selection of beers that were on tap. The bar keep was super friendly, helpful and he was very knowledgeable too. We talked about the beer from a brewery that I wasn't familiar with. Did I mention the Beer? The Tap house had several taps flowing. After a lengthy discussion, I settled on Pompeii from Toppling Goliath. Amazing. The folks here know what they are talking about. After a beer, I ordered the chicken nachos, the plate was gigantic and tasted great. They call it an appetizer but, it was a full on meal for me. As I was eating the place filled up, it is a popular for good reason. I met some nice people and had a real good time. I will definitely go back. read more

When moving my daughter to Mankato for her senior year we went to Boulder for lunch this past Monday We have been there before and always had great service and food. Fish tacos are amazing!!! However our server/ bartender was probably one of the rudest servers I have ever encountered. Little did he know out of 5 of us 4 have been servers/bartenders and know how to treat patrons. He rolled his eyes at us multiple times when asking for refills or extra dressings. Went as far as to tell my daughter "I need to real you in here cause you are all talking at once". Really? Who says that to their tables? He was not very busy... clearly hated life that day and was rude beyond words!!!! WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!!! Ordered from Boulder Tap House tonight using DoorDash. Selected the avocado fries and an order of bone-in wings with sweet/spicy chile sauce. Delivery was super fast. Food was hot. The avocado fries were delish. Crispy and decadent. Breading a little heavy for mine taste but really good. The chipotle dipping sauce was just alright but was a nice compliment to the avocado. The wings were a let down. The meat was cooked well but they suffered from rubbery skin. Some of the drummettes were really large and those were moist. Others not. Flats were cooked well inside but skin not so appetizing. They were swimming in the sauce and that might have lended itself to the rubbery skin. Anyway, was fast delivery, hot and fresh food and was overall pretty decent. read more

No problem, our table was ready by the restrooms. The waitress brings us water right away, asks us what to drink. My friends seem to love this place - I didn't think it was so great. My friend and I got seated at a dirty table which was really nice. He really loves to try new beers so I thought this would be a good place to take him since they serve over 30 microbrews. So we start looking through the beer menu and ask a few simple questions and it quickly becomes obvious that our waitress knows nothing about beer. I wouldn't mind so much at other restaurants, but if you're going to promote yourself has having all these beers to try at least educate your workers a bit. All the beers are $5 which I think is a bit steep, but w/e I can get over it. Ordered some jalapeno appetizers that were really greasy and had almost nothing to them except fried dough. We both got burgers and they were VERY greasy and soggy. My Black and Blue burger had no blue cheese on it, what? This is the first time I can remember where I didn't even finish the burger i was given. Fries were not good. As someone else said, don't get the boneless wings. They're super dry and literally about the size of marbles. If I come back here it will definitely not be for the food. read more
