This place gets pretty crowded in the evenings - especially on a Monday night around 8ish. It gets musty and smells weird bc of the lack of circulation. The holds hurt more for some reason and routes here feel harder than what they're graded I'm glad there's a valley gym, but unless you're here earlier in the day when there's less people or to top rope, I'd much prefer other gyms. Good parking. Pro-tip: get the 10 for $195 esp if you go in groups bc it's shareable and it doesn't expire! read more

Great gym. Bouldering are is smaller compared to other climbing gyms around LA but the problem climbs are quality. Highly recommend. Rope section looks great, haven't tried it yet but planning to later. I like that they have a long traverse wall section too for warm up or full burn out. read more

Tip: From bouldering to top rope, they got it all - tons of good sets. If introvert or like quiet times, don't go on a Friday night... ;_; It was CROWDED but still a good time nonetheless :) - - - - - - Boulderdash SFV has been on my list to visit for years; I remember my first visit I never climbed but rather walked around the gym. After scouting it out, I've finally gotten a day pass to check out their climbs, and they really have a lot to offer. Within bouldering, there were a ton of great sets for a variety of levels. Sense of community was strong, as the few people that I've talked to also mention their impression of setters - in a friendly way, of course - *Tough Love* for the difficulty. Like bouldering? Top rope? Got them both! My favorite is their community board, which also has a public signup sheet for climbing buddies - wish more gyms had this! The climbers there were all friendly and easy to converse and strategize with. They also have a lot of options between the flat wall and the inclined walls... but I didn't top rope so no comments there! Facilities wise, they were very clean with a variety of programs for kids and even adults. Can't wait to return for the next visit and potentially consider a membership! read more

My son got invited by a friend who's been here twice. It was not yet busy, so check-in and first visit tour was relaxed. The climbing area is sufficient for 50 to 80 climbers (imo) to share depending on the difficulty level. When I was climbing we didn't have gyms like this, you were outdoors or nothing. I am so glad my kids get to experiece this place and work on their skills in this wonderful and supportive environment. The staff here are all amazing, particularly John, Hannah, Alice, and Sasha. They care about the folks that work out here and are attentive, helpful, and offer great advice. Safety is always a priority and I appreciate the care they show making sure everyone is safe. This gym has a great assortment of climbs. From bouldering to top rope to lead climbs, you can find your workout here! Don't have a partner? No problem, they have a whiteboard where you can sign up to find a belay partner. Your kid wants to climb but you don't know the first thing? They have "Off The Deck" times you can sign up for. You want to get started and need to learn to belay? The "Up Rope" sessions are for you! They also offer private instruction and belayers. This is also a great Birthday Party destination, they can take between 5-20 climbers and offer a private room. They provide instructors/belayers at a 1 to 5 ratio. Lastly the folks who work out here are pretty cool, no attitudes, just chill climbers who love to see others progress, and who are there to make sure you are safe. read more

My child was part of a birthday party. There were 10 kids total with two coaches, so 5 kids per coach. With the exception of 2 kids, 8 were 1st timers. They first took them to easier walls and as the kids gained confidence they were then taken to the intermediate walls. The kids had a blast. Afterwards we went into a private room for some food and cake. I'm always looking for venues for kids birthday parties and this was definitely a hit and surprisingly affordable. I would definitely recommend for parties, or just a family outing with the kids. Will be back. read more

I haven't done bouldering in a very long time. Paid $45 online for a 30 minute session which was really fun. Our instructor Michael was cool, calm, experienced, and all around nice. A decent space and very clean with many levels to choose from, great activity for all ages. read more

Fun with a group of friends! I came here for the first time with my coworkers and have never done bouldering before. I signed the two waivers in advance, received my pair of rental shoes (which are meant to have a snug fit), and paid the $34 entrance fee. There was plenty of parking available and I had no issues finding the entrance. The gym smelled strange, maybe feet, but that's fine. They had lockers separated for men and women to hold personal belongings. My coworker received her belay license and taught us how to properly tie knots for rock climbing. We were given a brief tour and guidelines to follow before climbing. Levels range from V0 to V11 (for advance climbers). I had an awesome time and felt sore the next day. Bouldering is so much fun and only requires you and a pair of shoes. read more

I had never been to a rock climbing gym before and wasn't really sure what to expect. Well well well. Let me tell you! We arrived, signed the waivers, (which you will need to do even just to watch) and got the kids their shoes. We had two instructors, Carmen and Guy, I wish I could remember his name. They were both SO ENCOURAGING AND HELPFUL!!! We are a loud crowd; we cheer each other on and shout encouragement... they were both right there with us! Cheering and giving helpful advice to everyone who participated! Both my kids have been asking to join our local gym up in the Bay Area now that they have had a taste. My kids like to do new things, but not necessarily more than once.. so the fact they Want to go back and they Both had fun, means the world to us! They are 15 and 9, so they have very different tastes. Now that they have something in common they can do, is Amazing. I can't wait for them to start going up here in the bay. The gym smells like a gym, sweaty. But it didn't feel "dirty" or run down. Felt like this was a well loved gym. We will be back when we come to visit family again. Our scout group was treated with 3 of the scout tenets Friendly, Courteous, and Kind. The scouts were encouraged by the staff through every hold, slip, and completed route. They were willing and able to pass on technic and plans of action for the routes and holds. I could see in my own scout, her being emboldened by their motivating words. She was able to complete harder routes than she has done before. This cool and clean facility will be revisited for sure. read more

Went with some friends and I am a beginner. They gave us a "safety talk" and did not show me how to fall correctly. When I ended up falling I landed straight incorrectly and injured myself pretty badly. I know it's my responsibility to be safe, but I went in basically blind and with the worst fucking safety instructions I'd ever received. On top of that, when I landed and screamed in pain (yes it was that bad) none of the workers even pretended to notice that I was very much in need of assistance. Luckily I was with friends but they should really pay more attention, especially to people who are in excruciating pain right in front of their fucking faces. read more

I had gone bouldering before to try to improve my grip strength, but today I decided to try top roping for the first time. Holy forearm burn!! I had a private session with Michael, and he was awesome! He made me very comfortable and was very patient in explaining the techniques and answering all of my questions. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to try top roping for the first time (and I'm sure to anyone who is more advanced and wants to up their game). The facilities looked clean (clean bathrooms! Had a great first time trying out top rope. We went with a group of 6 so we booked two half hour private sessions back to back. Sasha was a great instructor! Went with our core friend group this past Saturday to celebrate our friends birthday. We had a private session with Sasha and he was amazing. Super friendly and taught us as we climbed. Everyone had a blast! I was able to try out a wall that was a bit more challenging for beginners and almost made it to the top! NEXT TIME SASHA!! It was pretty much everyone's first time and a few with fears of heights but Sasha accommodated everyone and made it enjoyable. Boulderdash is our kids' home away from home and we could not be more grateful for this gym, the staff, and the community. All of the coaches are so experienced, invested, patient, helpful, and *fun* and my kids' confidence and maturity and of course climbing ability has soared in the years they've grown up here. Been here multiple times with my 10 year old daughter, they're the most supportive belayers and teachers. Yohan was excellent and supportive, helping my daughter get the confidence to make it to the top when she was very scared. Then I brought my out of town family there, about 10 of us, and they were able to get 2 different staff belayers to help each family member (from 8 years old to 40) to try climbing. It was a blast, Sasha and Joe were unbelievably friendly warm and helpful. It was a memorable experience and so accessible for the bunch of non-climbers we all are. Recently took the Whip it Good lead climbing class with Lucy. This 2 day course helped me pinpoint my weaknesses when on lead and gave me the mental tools and physical critique necessary to go beyond my current training plateau. Lucy is an exceptional instructor, who commands commitment from her clients, yet you feel like you can ask her anything. I loved how she took time to explain concepts and theories to us, but also applied this while we were climbing. This course helped me break through my fear of falling, understand my strengths and weaknesses, and think about what to do before approaching a climb. The training she gave us on how to push past a Crux was most beneficial for me as I will be able to apply this on any climb. I can't recommend this class enough and this gym is so lucky to have Lucy as an instructor. I'm left wanting to learn more I'll definitely be taking some privates with her. read more

I love how they change the routes every so often. I go about 1-2x a month, and every time I come back there's always new routes. Nice staff, clean bathrooms, friendly climbers. They also have some kettle bells, pull up bars, gymnastic rings, treadmill, & stationary bike, if you want to do more workout. Also, check out their yoga & aero-yoga classes. I took the "Whip It Good - Push Your Limit on Lead" class in hopes of becoming a better lead climber and I think it will definitely help! The instructor, Lucy, provided the class with physical and mostly mental tools to become a better lead climber/belayer by challenging our understanding of climbing as a whole. She taught us how to push our limits but with a safe and methodical approach in mind. I took this class with my belay partner and we both learned how to become better belayers for each other, as well as learned how to make each other better climbers. If this class is available again, I highly recommend this class to any lead climber that hasn't taken a methodical approach to climbing. read more
