The Boulevard Beer Hall is a KC staple. If you're into craft beer you should definitely check it out. And even if you're not, you should still check it out. The Hall consists of 3 floors and they have plenty of parking, both lot and garage. The main floor has all the merchandise and to go beers, a self guided little tour, a little bar area. The second floor has beer and food. The menu has been updated a few times but I've ordered several items and all have been good. I believe the last time I went they expanded into pizza. They have a couple of bar areas, one with a majority of their offerings and the other for experimental beers. I like the experimental offerings and I regularly check them out. On the larger bar they have seasonal, year round, and sometime specialty beers. They also offer seltzers if beer isn't your thing. They have lots of seating including patio. The patio is nice because it overlooks the city and they're expanding it. The 3rd level I'm personally less familiar with. They call it the Rec Dec and I've been up there maybe once. They have games like shuffleboard that you can rent lanes for. They also offer more cocktail like drinks so I'd recommend this level if you're less into beer. All three levels have excellent service. Made a quick stop today at the Boulevard Brewing co gift shop for the recent collab hard cider they made with the Louisburg Cider Mill! Every person I interacted with (from the front desk to the cashiers at the gift shop) welcomed me and were very nice, and the overall ambience of the building was very calm! Most importantly, the haul I picked up today was great, this hard cider was freakin amazing and hope they make it permanent (I'm a sucker for hard ciders, or anything apple-related. Just reminded me to stop by the Louisburg cider mill soon while I'm at it)! read more

I adore Boulevard when I am in Kansas City. I recommend tours all the time as a fun thing to do. Which is partially why I've gone on 3 tours now - but I'm not complaining! I love getting to see my friends enjoy it as much as I did the first time and continue to do. The guides are super personable and it's just a fun experience. The price is great for all the samples, including the end where you get tokens to trade in at the bar for mini pours! The beer hall is massive, truly. You can order food from a QR code on your table or at the bar. Nothing super crazy, but decent pizza and sandwiches. They've got a nice patio balcony as well. Check out the small bar for experimental pours - this past time there was a Dubai chocolate stout, and another time I had a divine apple pie ale. And don't forget the gift shop! Boulevards Rec Deck is a nice place for a group gathering, especially during the holiday season when they have their holiday pop-up. The space is large and decorated with lots of cute decorations. I loved the beer decorations on the trees. There are photo ops everywhere and several different areas that can be reserved for groups. There were just two of us and we sat at the bar and enjoyed a few drinks from the holiday menu. The Mele Kalikimaka and Mulled Merriment came with a keepsake glasses. We also tried the Cindy Lou. All three drinks were delicious. The All I Want for Christmas artichoke dip served with chips and crostini, was a great snack while we soaked in the atmosphere. All of the staff were very friendly. There is a $5 cover and no reservations needed, unless you're reserving a space for a group. I recommend getting there early because it got pretty busy. Overall a great pop-up. read more

In a crowded market and in a crowded industry, Boulevard is certainly right up there for the most recognizable beer brand of Kansas City. Their Rec Hall and brewery tours only serve to cement that status. Make sure you reserve in advance for a brewery tour, should you want to take one, and just know that the tickets get released on Wednesdays. For a basic tour, it might be $10-$15 and there are several other tiers that you can choose from, such as barrel tapping, happy hour on Fridays, and more. Listening to the journey from local beer enthusiasts into a widely-distributed brand is really fascinating and makes it easy to recognize how Boulevard has had such success. I can remember when it was just a couple of selections, and a cold bottle of Boulevard Wheat always hit the spot. On Sundays, the Rec Hall hosts a bingo game and it's a ton of fun. It's free to play and there are always prizes; just know that it can be a rather large game and maybe the acoustics aren't exactly designed to hear all the callouts clearly. But you're there to enjoy the time with friends and family, washing it all back with locally-sourced beer. Boulevard is always tapping something new, such as this visit, which had us tasting their Caramel Apple Pie, a boozy brown ale. You always taste the artisan approach and the beer is always fresh. Stop in to the vintage camper and pony up for some photo strips. It's a great time in a throwback recreational vehicle, harkening to the days of simpler times. Boulevard hosted a Bingo Night and it was a great time! The space is set up well for events like these - super casual, fun vibes. The Tailgaters Wrap was fine - nothing special and wouldn't order again. The Tailgaters Pizza was really heavy on the blue cheese - good portions for the price though, I'd recommend ordering a pizza over a sandwich. This is a really cool place! It's absolutely humongous! The one bar has more experimental beers, I enjoyed trying stuff that I had never heard of before. Then the other bar has multiple beers and ciders to choose from, I tried a few and every one of them was excellent! Boulevard is iconic to KC and a must visit. Admittedly, I have not done the brewery tour yet but I've heard great things. I remember my first ever visit to the beer hall years ago and just in awe of the shear size of it. The space is massive but it stays busy. I've bought multiple out of town guests to visit the beer hall and have yet ti have a bad experience. I recently visited again this past weekend and there's a lot of new beer I've missed and new food options. I like to try the experimental taps. The line is usually much shorter and it's interesting to see what potentially could be the next big release. One of my favorite seasonal/holiday events is Rec Deck The Halls at Boulevard. This place has gotten better and better over the years. Everyone knows Boulevard and the location is easily accessible, which makes it kind of touristy, but locals spend plenty of time here too. There's a few reasons for that. The size of the place is huge. It's such a cavernous space that one should never worry about finding a place to sit. Obviously, people are going to come for the beer. They have all of the flagships on tap along with test beers and limited releases. They also have the biggest selection of non-beer options compared to any brewery in town. I think the food has gotten so much better than when they first opened. There's a lot of good snacks. I do wish the gift shop had more Duvel merch. read more

We did the 2 pm tour on a Monday and it was full. Really nice tour and facilities. Would highly recommend. The 2 tour guides were informative and funny. I was able to take a Boulevard tour many years ago before the new facility was built. I returned last month and was amazed what a beautiful space they have to enjoy drinks with friends. We enjoyed flights before the tour, and the tour tickets are really affordable. The tour was great all of the guides were really knowledgeable. We weren't able to see the bottling that day, but they gave us an extra beer token at the end to make up for it. Best brews and environment (try the test bar), but the bartenders will really ride your tail after you spend $30 if you coincidentally have outside food (that's obviously not being eaten on the premises). This is a very normal policy, but not when food isn't being eaten. I have always wanted to come back when I'm in town, but am less likely to after spending hundreds of dollars here over the years and now being harassed by the staff. I was obviously not eating, and only splitting up food for family on a roadtrip. Boulevard Brewing Bourbon Barrel Quad: Boulevard Brewing Co. is located in Kansas City, Missouri. It was initially conceived by founder John McDonald in 1984 during a vacation to Europe where Belgian beers captivated his interest. This led to an old brick building on Southwest Boulevard becoming the brewery's first home and its first keg of beer was born in late 1989. Their Bourbon Barrel Quad (BBQ) was inspired by one of my favorites, The Sixth Glass. The BBQ is an abbey-style quadrupel that is aged in oak barrels (at the renowned Holladay Distillery) for up to three years. It has an absurdly high abv of 12.2% and IBU of 26. Pouring it revealed an opaque dirty copper color with a thin head. The aroma and taste had hints of vanilla and cherries. For a beer, it's sweet and very alcohol forward. I'm by no means a teetotaler, but I'm much less of a beer enthusiast than I was in my college days. That being said, I was really impressed by this brew and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. A group of friends and I visited the Boulevard Brewery on a bachelorette party weekend, and when we arrived they weren't able to accommodate a large party like ours on any of the current brewery tours (our fault, not theirs!) but we did get to sit in the tasting and rec room and try a lot of the Boulevard brews. I did a little flight board of four of the Boulevard beers, and the tasting sizes were pretty large! I had the 80 Acre, Tank 7, the Pale Ale, and then just the normal Boulevard Wheat because I love it and wanted a final palate cleanser. -80 Acre was most similar to the normal Boulevard Wheat, but with a little extra hoppiness thrown in. Yum. -The Tank 7 was lighter but still had a dry, hoppy finish - would try again. -The Boulevard Pale Ale was a little too hoppy for me, but as Pale Ales go, I would try this one again as it wasn't as ear-wax flavored as other Pale Ales I've tried. After four of those pretty-large flight cups (purse in photo for comparison LOL) I was definitely feeling it. But luckily the tasting room is also a rec room where they have some fun games you can do with your party. We were sad we didn't do the tour, but it was still a fun time in the tasting room (I will definitely be back for the official tour and make sure to pre-book next time! read more

We were in from StL for the weekend and lined up the new Happy Hour tour that starts at 5:30 on Friday. We arrived early and went upstarts to the tasting hall. Very cool. Great big open space with lots of tables and seating areas. Food options are minimal so just know that going in. We tried a beer flight and the pub mix. We went back down to the entrance to meet up with our tour. There were only about a dozen of us, so that was nice. We were led over to the original brew house for a short tour. Like, really short. We just walked in and stood in front of the big casks and listened to a 10-15 talk about how Boulevard began. Great info, but I would have liked to see more of the brewery process. Then we went in to a pub like tasting room and we each given a bento box of some snack ish food to pair beers with. I was a little underwhelmed by the amount of food and presentation. We were provided 4 different beers to pair these snacks with. Two were good and the other two I just didn't like at all. I absolutely recommend going to the brewery! I would not pick the happy hour tour again and just stick with enjoying the beers and food in the hall. read more

Boulevard Brewing has their ducks in a row when it comes to event space. We attended a pre-wedding dinner on the top floor here and had a really fun time! The space that was rented was the entire top floor, which gave out group (which was sizable) plenty of room to spread out. There was room for food, shuffle board, a one-man "band", and tables to kick back and relax. The decor was on point and the bar (plus offerings) was perfect. I honestly couldn't think of anything that I'd change about this place. While I cannot speak to actually renting it (and that whole process) I can say that what I experienced was top notch. Unfortunately we were not able to explore what else the building (a renovated warehouse) had to offer but from what we saw walking in and out it look like it was equally as good of a time. Whether you need a space for events or just want to come hang out I think you're going to have a good time here. read more

Not to be confused with the brewery, the beer hall is a large location where you can sample brew-skis and get a tour. It was a little far away from the airport, where most of us were staying nearby. It has a nice balcony to get good views of the city. We had a table reserved for our group (mid-Sept) and it was little more than a table in the corner with a sign- I would have thought it would be part of the balcony or a private room with enough chairs for everybody. We ordered several snacks and it was plenty for a light meal (some in our group were still hungry afterwards)- from chips, dip, veggies, hummus and pita, pepperoni, dried cranberries, trail mix, cookies, pretzel bites and dogs with beer cheese (one guy in our group remarked that he wished he could've eaten the dogs had not had cheese in them due to his allergy). There are also some non-alcoholic drink options (I got a cream soda for less than $4). The hours were a little strange, as they closed at 8 pm on a weekday night, but the place was still crowded at closing time. We brought our friends from out of town here last week. It was hopping. They said we would be waiting for 20 minutes but it ended up being 10. We were seated right away on the rec deck and I loved it. We didn't partake in any games but it's a really fun atmosphere. I wasn't expecting to like the food as much as I did, but it was all delicious. They are not doing tours right now but we had fun reading about the beer on the main floor. We got flights and it wasn't that pricey - $10-12 a flight isn't bad. I would definitely come again. It's a really neat spot. read more

Here for some beers I cannot get at home in NJ before heading to the airport. Lindsey was awesome!! She explained all the flights and how they can be chosen. I chose the pick your own flight of 4. I decided to do 2 fruity, 1 bourbon and 1 Lindsey recommendation. I had: Raspberry Lemon Drop, Blueberry Smash, Teal Rising and Bourbon Barrel Quad. I drank them in that order as recommended by Lindsey amd it did not disappoint. Lindsey's rec was the Teal Rising. Light and effervescent. Your perfect game day beer. Started with the Lemon Drop which was tart and refreshing as well: could not drink all day but definitely could with the Blueberry smash. I love blueberry beers. Last up the bourbon barrel quad... YUM!!! Smooth, caramel bourbony.. definitely the dessert of the 4. Drink this one last as recommended by Lindsey. We sat outside overlooking the KC skyline. Love, love, love!!! We came here for a tour on a Friday for my birthday and had a wonderful experience! The tour was full of history and information. I loved learning about the industry and our tour guides were very knowledgeable. We asked a lot of questions and they had answers for all of them. All of the staff were delightful and had great senses of humor. The facility was state of the art and the atmosphere was awesome. I kept thinking how I wanted to bring my friends here when they visit. The beer samples throughout are an obvious plus and I enjoyed everything they gave us. And of course, they had a great selection of beers, seltzers, and cocktails in their tap rooms. We finished the tour in one area and then we were moved to an upstairs beer hall which had a lot of patrons. I didn't know they had a bar/dining area that's open to the general public (which apparently has a separate Yelp page?). We spent some time there after our tour and realized it would be a great place to hang out with friends. And they serve food?? Wow, who knew? I had such a good time. I can't say enough good things. It's amazing to me how this place never disappoints. First time back in a while and they now have hard seltzers. Beyond that 25% of their board is made up of the dark stuff! Only had 3x 5oz pours on this visit but each one was a winner! The chocolate ale didn't look or smell like chocolate but from the midpoint on, you couldn't miss that chocolate flavor. You could smell and taste the coffee throughout on the Magic Drip. And the Sugarwood Baklava was like holiday in a glass! So good. Just remember that these darker brews have higher abv. Lastly, the only disappointment was the firestick cayenne pretzels. They were suppose to be hot but they were not. The Jackfruit slider however was a hit with my meat loving son. Congrats! read more
