We've been to the Boulevard a couple of times but don't go there a bunch because each time we go the servers are so rude that we don't want to go back but being able to get breakfast 24 hours makes it our only choice sometimes. This time was no exception. Wehn we got there, we seated ourselves at a booth and were greeted by the two waitresses. We were the only ones in the place and from behind the counter, one of the waitresses took our drink order. She sat the drinks on the counter and so my partner went and picked them up. When we were ready to order, she took the order from the behind the counter as well. We didn't think this was too crazy as there was no one else in the place. The thing that bothered me was when the food was ready, she sat it on the counter as well. By now, there's other patrons in the place and all of them at the counter. We grabbed one plate as a guy sat next to it looking at it like why is this plate next to me and then one of the others at the counter who was either a regular or worked there (but not today) picked up our plate and walked it over to our table. Nice. To top it off, my sandwich wasn't toasted as I'd requested and the bread was old it was crumbly. If you're going to have attitude, the food should back it up and it didn't. I think it'll be a long time before we visit this diner again. read more

well let's start by saying this is not Capital Grill or ever to be confused with upscale anything but if you're a fan of nostalgic anything and if you're in Worcester do yourself a favor and stop in.......this is classic dining car diner, built here in Worcester by the way and I think still operating in the spot where it was originally located back in the 30"s.....so you know if it's old and not updated much this is no frills dining but I'm telling you can't beat the charm....took my daughter here on a Saturday, she goes to WPI, for breakfast and it was great......diner food to be sure nothing fancy, but portions are good, prices are cheap, people are super friendly and the food is delicious....I had the eggs Beni a personal favorite and they did not disappoint, my daughter went with the omelet in a word HUGE, we both had coffee which our waitress was more than happy to refill whenever it hit the mid-level mark....they have counter seats and booths that accommodate no more than 4, again think something built for a smaller generation and you get the idea, it's tight....so to recap good food, cheap prices, friendly staff and a bit of history....if you like that then this is your place...looking forward to a return nice job folks read more

Met a friend here for breakfast, as it was a convenient mid point to meet. First time for me, he has been here before and this was his recommendation. Wow, if you want to go back in time this is the place to go. Menu is on a chalkboard, meatloaf at 8:00 AM if you want it. Servings were so large neither of us finished our meals. I'm giving this one star only based off of service. I can't review the food because we never made it to order. My husband and 3 y.o. daughter went in based off a recommendation by a local. When we first walked in there were 3 men at the counter and all tables empty. It was about 11:30 a.m. so I wasn't expecting it to be busy. The two women behind the counter working never greeted us. Strike one. We sat down, sat ourselves, sat a few minutes before either one asked if we wanted something to drink and were we ready to order. They never came over to the table, just asked from behind the counter. I asked if they had print menus and was told they only had them for luncheon specials, the rest were on a board hanging above the grill. We ordered our drinks. The waitress put them on the counter and said "here you go". Umm excuse me? You want me to get up and get my own drinks? Strike two. As my husband and I looked at the hanging menu (we never received the specials menu) the other worker was on her cell phone with what seemed to be a service center for their soda machine. Not a big deal, I get it, you've got to take care of business. However, she became very angry at the person on the other end of the phone and was so loud and rude my husband and I finally made the smart choice to leave. I couldn't believe how she was behaving with customers, one a toddler, in the diner. As we walked out I said to the one waitress who poured our drinks (and never even came over herself to drop them off) that we were all set and leaving, the other one has the audacity to ask "what happened"? Really? My response was "we shouldn't have to sit and listen to you scream on the phone while you have customers in here. So completely ignorant". We walked out and went elsewhere. Worst customer service ever. Highly recommend not spending your money on such low quality service. Plenty of other places to eat at nearby. read more

If i had a quarter for every time I wanted to slap a customer in the face every time I ate there, I would be rich... really rich. Expect your average diner food but after 11:00, the drunks roll in. I LOVE going out for breakfast food especially diners! But at Boulevard Diner the coffee was crap, my omelet was way over cooked, the toast had a pound of butter on each peace, it was inedible. The staff wasn't friendly. This place needs a GOOD Cleaning, it was beyond dirty! We sat at the counter so we could see the cook, the last straw was when the cook picked eggshells out of an omelet she had on the grill with her bare hands!!!!! I've been here several before and I always received good service and good food. I must have caught them at a bad time a few weeks ago for breakfast. My fiancé and I arrived during a lull and we sat down immediately. There were only 4 other diners there. A young girl came over and took our drink orders and immediately brought them over. We ordered our food and waited about 15 minutes to get it. Instead of bringing the food to our table, the waitress put the food on the counter for us to serve ourselves. This was extremely rude. She also did the same thing with our check at the end. Not happy at all with the boulevard diner. Will not be coming back! read more

The Boulevard is hands-down my favorite place in Worcester. It's a traditional diner that still has all the old charm. The food is DELICIOUS and the staff is amazing. I highly recommend breakfast, but I'm sure everything they have is great. You will not regret going here. Party people, it's open 24/7! read more

I can't say that I've tried every plate, but every plate I have tried at the Boulevard Diner has been generously proportioned, hearty, delicious and reasonably priced (albeit not 'cheap'). I am particularly fond of their meatloaf - there's nothing quite like having that steaming plate of meatloaf with that awesome gravy thunked down on the table at 2:30AM after a night out partying with friends. It really hits the spot! Employees aren't rude, but not overly friendly either to my experience. They take your orders and bring you your food, otherwise they stay out of your business - I can respect that. They have other customers, and I'm with my friends. If I want a conversation, I don't need a waiter for that! Look, if you're into healthy eating, The Boulevard Diner isn't for you. If you like your meal greasy, hearty and artery-clogging, it's worth checking out. It's been a staple in the city for as long as I can remember and I have a LOT of fond memories of that place. Heck, the night I was born my father was eating there with my uncle. He called the hospital from a pay-phone that used to be outside the joint in the 70's - it's where he learned that he FINALLY had a son (after having two girls prior) - according to him, this was the happiest moment of his life. I did not know this when I first discovered this place with friends when I was in high school in the 90's - we just thought it was some obscure little place operating out of a box-car. I spent much of the 90's and the first part of the 00's in that place and wish I made it out there more often now. You can;t beat their meatloaf, lasagne and chowders. Hash browns aren't anything to sneeze at either! All around, everything on the menu is great comfort food. I hope this place sticks around forever, I'd hate to live in a world where only chain restaurants exist. It's a unique diner with good food and a laid back atmosphere that franchise businesses just can't match. read more

So...we walk in and seat ourselves were asked by one of the ladies behind the counter what we want to drink (with her back turned to us) and then asks us what we want to eat. We weren't sure yet so she continued to eat her own food at the counter (I didn't see her wash her hands afterwards). We figured out what we wanted and waited for someone to ask us again...well that took at least 10 minutes and the young guy who passed us our drinks asked us and the told the other lady we were ready and she completely ignored him and walked to the back. So, he told the First Lady and she took our order. Food was done pretty quick and I never received my home fries. Whatever I was too hungry so I just had my "homemade" corned beef hash with eggs and toast. Worst corned beef hash I've had and definitely was straight out of the can. My wife had the Italian breakfast and said the kielbasa was gross and there was absolutely no flavor to the sauce. I tried one of her home fries and was kind of glad they forgot to make mine. The lady who originally ignored us asked if we were done and gave us a total. No receipt so I don't actually know if I got charged for those home fries or not. They thanked us when we left and that was that. Definitely won't return I could've went to fedelles in southbridge and payed less and got more and actually had a waitress who was attentive and polite or we could've went to Lou Roc's and waited some time to get in but had amazingly good breakfast for possibly a tad more money. For the quality of the food here there prices should be way lower. Not a fan and won't be returning. I'm thinking the reason they got good reviews was because the majority of the people who have gone here were wasted at 2am. read more

Excellent food at fair prices. I hold that Boulevard makes the best omelette I've ever had (check out the college omelettes; the WPI is my favorite). Cozy, old fashioned diner atmosphere. Often busy at breakfast hours. And yes, you probably have to grab your food/drinks from off the counter. That's how this place rolls. It's part of the experience! Solid, unspectacular breakfast joint...unless its 3am and youre drunk, then its great. Not the cleanest place but ideal location and they serve huge portions. Waitstaff is quick but you better know what you want. All the classics are available for breakfast and a solid lunch selection. Very good italian bread. I have enjoyed the "Bouly" for over 25 years and will freely admit that this review is heavily influenced by nostalgia, atmosphere, and a bit by the food. As a diner fan, particularly partial to the "car" style, you could do a lot worse. The food is not spectacular but the options certainly are and the people are always helpful and attentive. Please understand when I say "not spectacular" I mean you are not likely to experience a lot of nuance or subtle flavors and so forth. While I like the breakfast options, particularly the french toast, I tend to go with items such as manicottti, meatballs, and chicken parm. The Italian loaf bread is airy and soaks up the sauces. Again, nothing fancy or necessarily imaginative, but you get your order, can ask for more, chat with the community and staff, and can do it at all hours of the day. It's cramped inside and not a lot changes, but the weight of a Boulevard mug in your hand feels like home. read more

This place RULES. Very good food. Very straight forward diner comfort food. And they have a thousand choices. I've had a few meals here, and they were all great. The employees are very nice, and they cook the food right in front of you because this place is seriously small. A counter with stools, and a few booths. This diner, is surprisingly good. When first stepping inside , its as if you stepped into the 1940's, but when trying the food it actually is very good. The staff at night is quite friendly, and they do make awesome ziti and meatballs. For a nightowl such as myself, I have to choose between Denny's and the Boulevard. Other than dealing with the lowlives getting into fights at Denny's at night, and ducking fists and possibly a chair, I'd rather choose the less dramatic Boulevard any day of the week. Probably one of the better restaurants for night people such as myself if not the best Diner there is in Worcester. Only thing that knocks 1 star off is that on the weekends (even at 2am) it's far two crowded in the little diner making it uncomfortable for those that are claustrophobic or need personal space to eat their food. read more

Food was decent but the service was absolutely horrible!!!! No one addressed us when we walked in or even smiled at us once. The man who seated us manhandled our silver wear and did not even explain where we could find a menu. Then the young blonde waitress (who was the rudest server I've ever dealt with) did not say "hello", but rather walked over and said "did you get drinks yet?" She never said anything when dropping off drinks or our order nor did she smile. When asked for change, she acted like we were asking for something impossible. I'm sorry, but I'm not leaving you $40 on a $25 bill. Leaving the restaurant, not one person said "thanks for coming" or "have a nice day". I've been a server at a number of restaurants for years and I know that good service is what will make or break a customer's dining experience. Went in to the Diner the other night after a movie because it was open late and everyone had heard good things. I was sorely disappointed. The place is tiny to the point more than 3 people can't be standing at once inside. Despite the place being the size of a shoebox, they still had a waitress (?) who would take orders, stand in the same spot, rotate 180 degrees, and then repeat the order to the cook behind the counter less than 6 feet from the customer. If the owners want to waste money paying someone to do that, thats up to them, but at least hire someone who's decent. The waitress interrupted us while we were ordering, actually turned her back and walked away while I was still in the middle of my order, then ignored us the entire rest of the time. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, medium-rare, with fries. Pretty much the easiest possible thing for a diner to make. Well, the Boulevard Diner managed to screw it up. It took a HALF-HOUR to get my burger. Diners are supposed to be fast, fast, fast. I didn't expect them to have my food ready before I sat down, but 30 minutes for a diner burger? 10 minutes, tops, people. I finally got my burger, and it was burnt black, no bacon. I gave it back to the waitress (after signalling her for another 5 minutes), who acted perplexed that she could have done something wrong. After ignoring us the entire visit, now the waitress would not leave us alone. I just wanted to drink my soda and talk with my friends about the movie I had just seen, but the waitress would not stop interrupting and bothering us. "Do you want something else?" "No, thank you." "Are you sure?" "Yes." (pause) "Are you SURE?" "Yes." (another pause) "Do you want her to make you another one?" "NO." "Are you sure?" "YES." (she walks away) (immediately walks back) "Are you SURE you don't want something else?" "YES!" I wasn't about to punish the cook by making her re-cook the entire meal, when she really didn't do anything wrong, it was the waitress' screwup, and that'd be reflected in her tip (or total lack thereof). In closing, my friends thought the fried raviolis were awesome, and I still hear good things about the burgers. I'll never go back, but if you can stand the slow and incompetent service, the food may be pretty good. I'll never know. read more

I came here on 7/27/15 @1am and from the start the waitress was rude. I was disgusted when I saw her preparing the food without washing her hands,and that was the moment I decided not to eat there,even though my friends were.while eating,one of my friends ended up spilling water ,and I noticed a change in her attitude.she became rude and seemed very aggravated. But when working around food and drinks you can only expect this to happen and is no reason to be rude or else you are not fit for the job.long story short ,someone called her (I'm assuming a friend) because she seemed more Interested in talking on the phone then providing us some decent service.she told us to "be quiet and eat your supper" when we were talking with an inside voice-we weren't even being disruptive or anything. Mind you we were the only ones in there at the time.we all stayed quiet for the most part didn't say anything.then a couple walked in and I sarcastically said "are you guys eating here?make sure you don't talk because she'll (the waitress) will get mad.thats when the waitress became scarily aggressive and got extremely loud .she started yelling at me calling me all sorts of profanities. This place used to be so good. The home fries literally taste like nothing because there's no seasoning on them besides grease and the after taste literally tastes like green tea. Which is repulsive. If I want home fries I'm expecting to taste home fries, not whatever that disgusting mess was. The part that really irritates me the most isn't even the food, it's the people that work there. Some disgusting man came out from the back, looking all dirty and basically drooling. He was picking at his teeth then grabbing food for himself to eat. The waitress literally went to a booth and laid there and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
