My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and were really impressed with our meal. We had the wagyu sirloin, which was cooked perfectly! The mashed potato and risotto sides were rich without being overpowering. Finally, the pork chop is a must try on their menu; again, cooked perfectly and really flavorful. Their entire staff was professional and welcoming. Our server (Jason, I believe) was incredibly efficient and friendly! He had us laughing! I was in town for business and was thoroughly impressed with this location. The place had a live band playing calm and soothing music. The smoked old fashion was prepared at your table and left a nice smoky smell afterwards that reminded me of campfires and s'mores. The taste itself however wasn't anything extraordinary. The charcuterie board was diverse in meats and cheeses as well as a healthy portion of nuts. The toast had a peculiar salty flavor that paired well with certain cheeses but not with others. For my main course, I wanted something not too heavy, even though I had read that the restaurant was more known for its steaks. I chose the lamb shank and it tasted even better than it looked! The meat fell right off the bone and was so soft and juicy and the mashed potatoes did well to absorb the juice. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and I hope to come back the next time I'm in town. read more

4.5 stars. After reading some of the comments, I'm not sure where everyone else ate. I've been to upscale city steakhouses. This was less stuffy, less expensive, and more fun. We did use the Groupon for the tomahawk, but I'd come back for a regular dinner. Our server, Heather, was lovely. She was so personable...just fun enough without feeling forced. She didn't hover but could easily be found if needed. We were able to truly enjoy every piece of the meal and experience And it was an experience. I'm not a huge steak gal...once every few months, I'll get a craving, but it's definitely more my husband's thing. Still, the tomahawk carved tableside was perfect (i wont share the pictures here, but they left time for them too). Cooked just rare enough for him and medium enough for me! And I LOVED the Sriracha Brussels sprouts! Both Heather and the host/manager were great about helping us understand what the Groupon covered and in making sure we had a nice time. The worst part: Hearing another table complain about excellent service that also clearly responsive to older feedback. She balanced presence with giving us room to enjoy ourselves. We were looking for a nice place for lunch. We stopped in and had a seat, ordered iced tea and then looked at the menu. OMG, bring money! The menu has small plates, regular plates and entrees. We ordered small plates and honestly the food was good. But we ended up spending close to $80 for lunch. Ice-T was $5, there was a kitchen service charge of 5%, horseradish on the side was $4. The atmosphere was upscale, the staff was exceptional, but I can think of several other restaurants where the food atmosphere and staff are just as good but considerably less expensive. Went to Bourbon Blvd for my birthday dinner using the Groupon for the Tomahawk dinner. Natasha was such a wonderful waitress. She was engaging and helpful with any questions we had. The dinner was spectacular. The quality of the food and drinks were top notch. We also got to enjoy the live music which made a lovely atmosphere. I've wanted to experience BB since the first time I heard about them on the radio--almost 2 yrs ago. I would NEVER RETURN DUE TO THE POOR SERVICE AND HIGH PRICED MEDIOCRE FOOD. I decided to take my buddies there for Christmas. What a letdown on many levels. My criticism comes from having worked the biz many years ago for establishments such as Clydes and Henry Africa in Old Town. We arrived for our reservation on time and were seated without a wait but with little explanation of the tablet that was given with the "Whiskeys" selection. It went downhill from there. One of us asked for a Gingerale and we were told they didn't have it. After we went to the bartender we received a Gingerale. We received a stale draft and encountered the owner who seemed unconcerned and aloof. We waited about 20-30 minutes before our waitress took our drink and appetizer order. After another 15-20 minutes we received our drinks and the appetizer--candied bacon which was terrible. We ordered surf and turf and Alaskan King Crab Legs. The steak was tasty and cooked perfectly but the lobster was undercooked and stringy. Definitely not worth 69 dollars. I would have been better off buying my buddies Omaha Steak packages for a lot less money. read more

I was excited to try this new bar/restaurant. While I love the selection of bourbons, the food was just so so. I had the Braised Pork Belly over grits and maple sriracha for my main course. Although the presentation looked amazing, the flavor was mostly salty. The grits were more like a sandy consistency in my mouth vs a creamy texture. We also had the Traditional Caprese Salad with Fresh Mozzarella and Basil, Heirloom Tomato, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic Reduction, and Finishing Salt. That was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. My partner had the Pernod Mussels, which was solid. Given the price for everything, I would have expected to be more impressed with the food and cocktails. As it is, maybe I would go back for a happy hour special, but not for dinner. read more

I do not recommend this business as we had a bad experience, and found not only the service to be bad, but my New York strip was undercooked (bleeding and cold raw when I'd ordered it medium rare) and they also butterflied my wifes steak open, claiming that was the way they served it.... It really seems like they should ask you if you'd like it prepared that way rather than just assuming.. the rest of the meal including appetizers was average. To add to all of this, they charge you a fee for the live music..... this is really some thing that should be communicated ahead of time, but they butterfly your steak without asking so shame on me. For the price point I think you are better suited going to Eddie V's or another steakhouse with a good bourbon selection. read more

The place is more like a local bar than it is a high priced steakhouse, Very disappointed the tables and chairs in the dining area were so bad they were made out of seems like scrapped wood very very uncomfortable very uncomfortable and so close together that you couldn't move without the person at the next table moving their chair, I will admit the food was pretty good but the service was terrible. And at the end they brought you your bill like they were writing you a parking ticket with a handheld device which you had to stand there and pick did you want to tip them 20% 25% very annoying. I went on a Sunday evening and the still had happy hour specials going on! So instead of ordering overpriced entrees, we had an assortment of happy hour foods and shard a salad. The salad was delicious! The wings, delicious! Crispy Brussels, bruschetta trio, delicious. The pork without a fork dry rub was just ok. Probably would have been better with some sauce, but it was super tender. Crème brûlée dessert was delightful. I had a virgin and an alcoholic mule to drink and both were made well. This is a long review so the short version is this - I will never return due to the bait and switch by the management and the painfully slow service served with a side of attitude. Go and spend 200 bucks on a flight of bourbon and 150 bucks on a tomahawk if you want...I will not. Here is the review - So showed up for my first visit and to see the Chris Plante show. Planned on arriving early and enjoying happy hour and some food and then enjoy the show. I drive and hour in the driving rain and arrive around 4...so still plenty of time to enjoy a drink and food before the show. I take a seat at the bar, the next to last open stool and order a drink. Bartender sets down the drink and I ask for the happy hour menu. Now he tells me there is no happy hour. I say the website has a happy hour listed.....he says just tonight there is no happy hour due to the show. Now if that was on the website or listed as you walk in or anyone told you then it would still suck...but I would have been warned. It was not and it was not stated UNTIL I asked (obviously this came as a surprise to those around me as their heads swung around and they were completely unaware of this - and some had ordered apps and drinks already)....as I told the bartender, that is bait and switch. Management should be ashamed of themselves for gouging a group of people there to see a show. I guess they figure we are not the normal clientele so who cares if you scr*w them over. They are correct....I will never be back. This was a scouting trip to check out the place before bringing the family....which I will now never do. All because management of Bourbon Boulevard decided to go for the money vs. building their customer base. The sad thing is the night only got worse. The crowd was massive and they were so unprepared that everything just came to a standstill for the next three hours. They had two bartenders, one of which took on average 5 minutes to get a drink from order to serving and the credit card system they have made it even worse. I attempted to order food when I ordered a drink....but was ignored. People were stacked on top of each other and they were out the doors....it was a disaster and Bourbon Boulevard was woefully unprepared for this event. Making it worse was that the staff was unapologetic and rude to literally every person they interacted with. As I was at the bar I watched the interaction and it was embarrassing at times. I am a bourbon and whiskey guy and my wife loves a great steak so we were looking forward to coming here and having a date night - yeah it would have been expensive but sometimes you splurge. The good thing about this night is it showed me the type of restaurant they are and that the cost is not worth it - the staff is rude and the management is not good. I will gladly take my money elsewhere where they want my business and the staff is trained and professional. So much potential in this place - all of it wasted. Well at least the show was great, met some incredible people and was able to scratch this disaster off my list of places to go with minimal sunk costs and without ruining a date night with my wife of a family night out. read more

I've never been to a Politics and a Pint as the host used to do them in DC (big no-no for me). I was thrilled that the venue hosted the event, and was looking forward to a nice night talking with like minded people. Unfortunately, the only discussions we had were with people standing in line for an hour without seats, drinks, or food. That was the only good part of the evening. Now, in fairness to the owner, I do believe the crowd was much larger than previous events they hold in DC. The host of the event should probably sell nominally priced tickets instead of a "first come, first served" approach. That way the owner of the venue could have planned more appropriately for the large crowd. Out of the approximately 350 people who showed up, at least half of them walked away not being served or even having seat. Good luck to the owner figuring out how to plan for an increase in business. I hope they make it, but this is the 2nd strike. I would not go back there unless I happened to be in the area. read more

So.. went out for the besties bday dinner here at BB. I immediately fell in love as soon as I walked in and saw the dry aged beef tastefully on display and the cigars. This spot is very much speakeasy-esq! Totally my kind a vibe they ha a few different menus. There is a dinner menu,drink menu (cocktails,tequila and of course u guessed it BOURBON! ) also a cigar menu. All of the items in each were very much eclectic ! There is something here for everyone. I didn't partake in any of the drinks on their menu as we just had a glass of champagne to toast. We started off with the appetizers of sesame glaze chicken wings, artichoke dip,crab cakes ( all lump crab! ) and my fave :the fresh warmed olive medley served with crostini. My dinner was the bison burger served with truffle fries( what a sensation! ) my bison was medium and cooked perfectly. And my friend had the braised Lamb shank served on top of mash and veggies in a wine sauce. All the dishes were served hot and with a smile. They also have a live jazz band that plays nightly and it was very much a treat.. those guys ROCK! I will be back again for the bourbon flights the next time around !!! read more

I went to happy hour at Bourbon Boulevard with some work friends on Thursday November 3, 2022. I met the owner and he showed us great hospitality. The food was really good. Ooops! They are not ready for prime time. We went on a Saturday night 6:30pm. The place was 2/3 full. We were excited for a good meal and good drinks at a new place. The atmosphere is comfortable and rustic, especially the bar which has cool high tops next to the live jazz band. Now the bad news. The main dining area is rather cafeteria and doesn't match the rest of the place. They just tried to jam a bunch of tables in to maximize customers. It took 20 min to have the server take our drink order. He was obviously inexperienced and the restaurant was desperate for staff. Truth is that the entire place felt that way. No leadership from the front to the back. Every order was wrong at the table. The first two drinks delivered were from a different table (wrong table, wrong drinks). 30 min later our drinks arrive. They gave the drinks out of order. Wrong drinks to the wrong people. The single beer (wrong beer). My "Smoked Manhattan", was never smoked "table side". My wife's wine glass was dirty. I mean really dirty. Like take it back dirty. I won't even tell you about the last drink. I don't want to make you cry out with laughter. I think you get the idea. Lastly, they brought another set of food and drinks to our table that we didn't order. At this point I made an executive decision and we left. I gave the manager / bartender / owner $20 for the drinks we didn't drink, $10 for the service we didn't receive and $0 for the food we never ordered. We went to Capital Grill and had a great meal and great service. Lucky us, it was "restaurant week" and we paid less than as we would have at Bourbon Boulevard for half the quality. I hate leaving such a terrible review, but I hope it helps them to do a better job and improve. The place has great potential. Terrible staff that are obviously not trained and inexperienced. Sadly, that makes all the difference in your experience. Not sure I will go back. To many other places that are a sure bet. read more

The worst experience ever. I got there at 7 pm and asked the waiter for wine suggestion she said I don't know let me grab my boss. An hour later the boss who ended up to be the owner came and finally recommended a decent bottle of wine since everything on the menus was over priced. All Of this while we are still waiting on our appetizers that never came after 90 min we asked the waiter just to bring us the check for the wine and that we are hungry and we can't wait anymore. The owner came and apologized and said that the food will come in a min. 30 min later the food never came and all what we got was a check for the wine. We go to apology so we paid for our wine and left without dinner after two hours. It's a shame bc the place looked nice and me and my friend drove 45 min to check it out. The worst management and everyone there is super rude. Save yourself time and never go there. I went to sit at the bar at about 8pm on a Wednesday. The hostess greeted me at the door by saying they were no longer taking "walk-ins". I informed her that I (alone) was going to sit at the bar. There was about five open barstools. The hostess again said they weren't taking "walk-ins". I asked if she was sure, since I wanted to go to the bar and she grabbed the owner. The owner told me that he was the only one behind the bar and I would have to wait for a while before I could sit at one of the available barstools. I left. Service was adequate, not stellar. Place was small, like the Capital Grill at Tysons, but not intimate like it is there. New Year's Day we decided to give this restaurant a try. It models itself as a high end steak house with an awesome selection of bourbons. Initially walking in we were pretty impressed overall. Nicely decorated, good vibe all the way around. They had a jazz quartet playing live in the restaurant which brought the vibe up a notch for sure. Waiter took our drink order and recommended the garlic shrimp as an appetizer. So we ordered it to try. The shrimp came and we gave it a try. It was so-so. Not bad but nothing special. 6 shrimp served in a warm garlic buttery juice. Just nothing special. That caught me by surprise. We all ordered steaks with a couple of sides. Two filets and one NY strip. I ordered the strip. It seemed strange to me as well that there were only a few types of steak cuts offered for a high end steak house. The food arrived in a timely manner. I took one look at my steak and thought that it looked burned. Not blackened, but burnt. I cut into it and realized it was cooked to temp but they had burnt the outside in the process. I then realized that the cut was a ribeye. No mistaking it. After two cuts I stopped and ask the waiter to double check with the chef and see if or why they served me a ribeye. He went into the kitchen and when he returned he stated the chef said it was a NY strip. I decided not to press the issue because I liked ribeye as well. Steak was subpar. Certainly nowhere near Ruth Chris or mortons steakhouse. We started noticing that the quality of the service was subpar as well. We ordered drinks that never arrived. We noticed later we were charged for a glass of wine we never received. We ordered deserts as well and again, just so-so. One of my guests ordered a midrange ounce of bourbon and the owner came out to serve it. He brought the bottle with him to view. He measured the amount out in front of us using one of the cheap plastic kitchen measuring cups. And poured they into a glass. Again, it just seemed a bit cheap for a high end place. Our waiter tried his best for a young guy and he did a pretty good job. The following servers desperately need training on how to serve. They don't have the skills for a high end restaurant yet. Bottom line, the bill came to $350 for three people which if we were at Ruth chris' we wouldn't have batted an eye. But this was way overpriced for the quality of food and service we received. I wish I looked at Yelp before coming here. From the get go, my spidey sense was tingling. When we arrived, we took a seat at the nearly empty bar - which was completely full of dirty dishes. After about 10 minutes of waiting - our bartender (aka the highlight of this entire experience) got us our drinks. The dining room was incongruent with the prices being charged - which are ridiculously high. I felt like I was at an Outback - which would've been 1000 times better. Our reservations were for 8 pm. No bread was offered. Two members of our party ordered the $50+ ribeye....which both sent back because it certainly didn't taste like a ribeye - I don't know if it was the cut - but the second attempt was MUCH better. The brussel sprouts were WAY too spicy, the French onion soup was too dense. The risotto was meh. Three glasses of wine cost me $75. When our dinner dishes were cleared, we asked if we could see a dessert menu. Our waiter informed us that the kitchen was closed. (Note to future patrons, the restaurant closes at 10 pm.) We weren't aware of that at the time and asked for dessert at 10:20 pm. Then our waiter came up with a payment device and asked "who's going first" - we didn't even see our bill! And, that might be because when you find yourself paying 5% as a kitchen gratuity, you start questioning it all. In all, our party of 4 spent almost $700 total. The final nail in the coffin was when our waiter followed us out TO OUR CAR to dispute the fact that he said he couldn't get us coffee or dessert. Lesson learned. (should have been my first sign that i should leave). sat down and have a super super kind and friendly server, alyssa. the ONLY redeeming quality of our visit. my dad and i orderd drinks, my stepmom asked for a wine sample which she didn't like so she ordered a different glass. waited close to 10 minutes for said glass. dad ordered the fork pork thing. awful. dry and chewy and just gross. even smelled bad. he very politely said 'i didn't like it, you can take it.' didnt ask for anything else or a comp. just chalked it up to not liking it. stepmom ordered a large charcuterie board. server delivered it but didn't explain or tell us what cheeses or meats they were. so we asked. no big. then we thought (and we were wrong) that there were supposed to be 4 meats so we asked. server said oh i don't know lemme check. while she went to check, i went up front to check the menu and realized we were wrong and it was just three. immediately i tried to find our server to say 'hey we were wrong, so sorry' instead we had the CHEF come out and said 'heard you didn't like the pork. also as you can CLEARLY READ HERE *throws menu down on table* IT SAYS THREE MEATS THREE CHEESES' and walked away. completely unacceptable. we spoke to the manager who gave a very soft lame apology. a few 'sorry. sorry. sorry.' then handed us a gift card for $50. which we gave back, because realistically... why would we come back? i've been in hospitality for 15 years and gave our server Alyssa who was awesome a few recs on places hiring with better management where she could make more money. hoping things turn around for them but i personally won't be back for a long time. read more

My only complaints were that the music playing didn't seem to match the vibe at all, there should be some yummy hot sauce options on the table, and the chocolate sauce for the beignets was cheap tasting. The strawberry sauce for them though was very good! My husband ordered the jambalaya and I had the bayou pasta. Both meals were phenomenal and will be ordered again. We had a bad experience with too many issues to list here. In addition, they refuse to refund us for the 5 tickets we purchased for a drag show brunch before it was canceled. The manager Don hung up on me when I called after they would not return my emails about the ticket refund. After all this, my husband wrote a negative but honest google review. The owner Kirin responded to that review with slander and with false accusations of mistreating the staff, yelling and swearing. The lies they told on Google reviews to cover up their unprofessional behavior will most likely be repeated here rather than showing accountability for the bad customer service, or offering to correct the issue. I would recommend spending your time and money elsewhere as there are many other establishments that are honest and reputable that would be happy to have your patronage and will take pride in the goods and services they offer. read more

When we arrived, the place wasn't crowded, however, the bar tables were full. There were only a few chairs at the bar, all were empty. We asked if we could sit there, which we did. The bar service was very slow and the bartenders untrained. We had a few appetizers which were very good. The Bourbon pours are unreasonable. A lot of 1/2 oz pours which is just silly. I realize they are paying exorbitant prices for rare after market spirits, but these are Vegas prices. The place didn't have a high-end appearance. It was more like an Applebee's than a Morton's. This is difficult because the bartender was friendly, the happy hour Larcenys were quite smooth, and the French onion soup and 'pork without a fork' were also quite good. The establishment is amazing. Steaks dry aging in the entrance vestiuble. Hundreds of bourbons. And even a selection of cigars. I heard the ad for BB on WMAL noting that it gave veterans and first responders a 25% discount on Mondays. Well, I am not going to be in NoVa on a Monday, but I did have a early flight out Saturday morning, so I drove out to the area Friday afternoon, checked into the hotel, checked BB's happy hour menu, and headed for BB. As I type this, I checked the happy hour menu at bbcbar.com to make sure I did not misread something. It clearly has a happy hour drink and food menu for Fridays, from 3-5. I walked in, advised the host that I wanted to sit at the bar for happy hour only. She was quite emphatic about my looking at the full wine and food menu. I don't like that. Once I decline the menus, that should be the end of the discussion. I was seated at the bar and ordered a water and a Larceny. I inquired about the size of the happy hour food offers. The bartender told me that happy hour food was not available on Fridays. I commented about this, but he was just doing his job. In addition, if I didn't eat, I'd be eating a hamburger made from a frozen patty at the hotel. I ordered the French onion soup, which was excellent. The bartender recommended the 'pork without a fork' small plate with Old Bay and a choice of ranch or blue cheese. Again excellent. And even when I got to the last piece, it was still warm. Between the soup and the small plate, it was almost too much food. While eating the pork, I asked for another blue cheese (the initial portion provided was about an ounce). The blue cheese was quickly provided. Then I got the bill. $1.50 for the second ounce of blue cheese and a mandatory 5% 'kitchen gratuity'. So, why a one star? First, the essentially false advertising re: happy hour food. Websites are so easy to update. If the establishment doesn't want happy hour prices on Fridays, I am OK with that, but change the website accordingly! And a higher end establishment should not be 'nickle and diming' the customer. Things like an additional ounce of blue cheese should be free. And if the kitchen staff needs a higher wage, build it into the costs on the menu.
