We had to push back our reservation for 4 a couple times because we got tied up in a fancy store (Tiffany's) at the Caruso Signature plaza. Our server, Nick, made our entire dining experience here so memorable. It was a special dinner with the cousins and Nick took great care of us. The restaurant itself was nicely, dimly lit which set the mood for a serious and delicious meal! One of the cousins is pregnant so she wasn't able to have the Ceasar salad since it had raw egg but Nick brought us truffle bread which was unassumingly DELICIOUS. Pregnant cousin devoured that as well as her chicken plate. I enjoyed my rib eye cap prepared medium. Other cousin enjoyed her lamb chops, and other cousin enjoyed her NY strip steak prepared medium. For sides we had the mushrooms, and truffle Mac & cheese. Everything was SO GOOD! We didn't have space for dessert but I'm certain I'll be back real soon so I'll give desserts a try then. We ordered the ribeye steak, and it was absolutely perfect, tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way we wanted. We also had the Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach, and every side was fantastic. One of the best surprises of the night was that instead of bringing out bread, they served French fries seasoned three different ways. We also liked that it came with waffle cut chips! - Brussels Sprouts with Miso Caramel (5/5): nice balance of acidity with the basalmic vinegar and a slight kick of spice. - Prime Delmonico Rib Eye (3/5): This cut was a lot leaner than we expected for rib eye and as a result was pretty chewy, despite us ordering it medium rare. For the price, we were expecting much more so we were a bit disappointed. Overall (4/5): On top of our order we were served complimentary fries which was super fun as there were three different combinations of fries and dipping sauce pairings. I celebrated my birthday here and it was amazing! Their steak is premium! We had cowboy rib eye. It was tender, juicy, and savory (you wouldn't need sauce). We also had the classic Caesar, and the half roasted mary's chicken. Our server, Matt took care of us so if you want to visit and try Bourbon Steak at Glendale, Matt will definitely take care of you. Bourbon Steak is, in a lot of ways, the best restaurant in Glendale. Its chef-owner has earned a Michelin star or two, and the ambiance is the classiest in the city. The prices definitely match the chef's reputation and accolades; however, there are definitely ways to eat a great meal here spending a little less than someone eating at another fine dining steakhouse. Eat at the bar and order one of their burgers or some appetizers and you can easily fill up without crossing the $50 threshold as long as you don't order alcohol. That said, spending the money for the steaks and sides is worth it. I've had some issues with the fat on some steaks not being rendered enough, but I've also had some of the best beef I've had in my life here. Perhaps my biggest complaint is that a lot of my favorite dishes like their pork and pork belly, their chicken wings, their baked potato with bacon jam, their Bourbon chocolate bar and smores dessert, have disappeared from the menu over the years. That is an inevitability when a place has been open for more than a decade, so I'm not holding that against them. Conversely, what I really love about this place is that the staff is consistently personable and attentive. They bothered to learn my name and treat me like a regular, even though I don't necessarily spend a whole lot here. I really appreciate their professionalism. Courtesy and warmth go a long way. I recently hosted a dinner at Bourbon Steak at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, Calif. I needed a private space that could comfortably hold 9-12 people. The team at Bourbon Steak offered me with a space near the entrance that was perfect for my business meeting. I was quite impressed with the level of service I received. I spoke with the restaurant team on the telephone and in person, and received answers to all of my questions in a prompt and timely manner. The restaurant team also provided me and my guests with various menu options, accommodating different dietary needs and considerations. There were many great options, so I wasn't worried about finding something for every guest. Upon arrival, everything was set up perfectly. When a guest cancelled at the last minute, the staff quickly made adjustments on the spot without hesitation. And when the guests did arrive, they were attentive to me and all of my guests. The food was delicious. As we were waiting for all of our guests to arrive, the staff provided us with some tasty snacks until all of our guests arrived. A nice touch. We ordered a few appetizers. Michael's ahi tuna tartare was excellent. And the duck spring rolls were quite good. For my entree, I had a salmon dish. My salmon was prepared perfectly. And my guests enjoyed their steaks. All I knew was that it was a steakhouse. When I sat down and looked at the menu, I realized that it was from Chef Michael Mina. We walked in shortly before 8:30pm without a reservation and were seated in one of the last few tables around 9pm. We enjoyed complimentary duck fat fries with three delicious dipping sauces. My favorite was their house barbecue sauce, which had a rich, smoky flavor. We ordered the 30-day dry-aged prime Tomahawk steak (48 oz) and grilled it medium rare, as most people prefer. The server was great and took a couple of steaks back to the kitchen to have them cooked medium rare (my preferred doneness). To my delight, the kitchen plated the steaks and drizzled them with a delicious harissa sauce that paired perfectly with the steaks. The server was very considerate of my dietary preferences and served the parmesan cheese and wagyu fat potatoes separately so that I could enjoy them without the cheese. The miso caramel sauce with the brussels sprouts was a perfect match. The perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors - I couldn't get enough of it. The overall vibe of the restaurant was definitely more upscale than casual, with most diners dressed in business or casual elegance. My friends and I were clearly not dressed for the occasion, so we just casually walked in for dinner, and although it wasn't long, the service was still great. They also had a live pianist who added to the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. Was walking around Americana and all the restaurants were packed, even though it was fairly early (5:30ish) and decided to try Bourbon Steak out. They were happy to accommodate us; front staff were extremely pleasant and nice. Got seated at a table next to the restrooms but not a biggie. The dining room is really nice. We hadn't been seated for more than 30 seconds and the server came by (which is good) and asked us if we wanted to drink anything. We ordered sparkling water and said we were looking at the menu to see if we were going to do cocktails or wine so we would need some time. He proceeded to come back multiple times while we're visibly still looking at the drink menu. He said if we needed the Sommelier he could have her come by. I said if we need her we'll ask. And literally 2 seconds later she came by... it was the most intense 5 minutes ever. Like can we settle in and breath? Not fine dining experience. Eventually we ordered drinks and food. We ordered a handful of appetizers which were super yummy. But the one thing that disappointed was the Wagyu Ragu. It was extra al dente. The balance between tenderness and firmness leaned way more to the later. We also ordered more fries: the little fry sample complimentary appetizer was so yummy we wanted more. Of course, once we ordered our food we never saw the server again until we were done. LOL. And the fries took forever (also after we were done) so we just ended up taking them to go. Thankfully the server assistants were helpful. And they even helped suggest dessert and took our dessert order. Last weekend I went to Bourbon Steak to celebrate my sister's business accomplishment while visiting California. The restaurant was located in the Americana at Brand in Glendale. There is a large parking deck and the restaurant validates parking for some amount of time. We still paid $15 when we left so I'm not sure for what period of time they validate. There were four people in my party. We were greeted by two friendly hostesses and immediately sat in the lux dining room. Our server was also very pleasant. We decided to eat family style. We ordered 2 Delmonico Ribeyes (one with smoked blue cheese), caesar salad, the sauce trio, potato puree, truffle mac and cheese, and the broccoli. Wins: - The meal started with the complimentary fries. I personally did not like them because they are not served hot, but the rest of the party enjoyed them and the three dipping sauces. - The salad was well dressed and was enough for three of us to share. - We also enjoyed the wine, coffee, and dessert. They had a nice variety of after dinner drinks. - Overall, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. - The ambiance is beautiful with soft lighting and comfortable seating. - There was a DJ who played great music. It was the perfect volume where you could hear the music, but still enjoy a conversation. Cons: - It took our entrees and sides forever to come out. We ordered at 7:35 and it was at least an hour before our entrees were served. - When we ordered they asked if we wanted our steaks sliced, we said no... both came sliced anyway. - The steaks were not cooked to the requested temperatures and were warm, not hot when served. - All of our sides were cold. Not warm, COLD! - The manager was rude and condescending. When she came to our table she stated, "I'm sorry your food was not as hot as you would like it." No, they were cold and definitely should have never been brought out of the kitchen. The serving dishes were not even warm. This was unacceptable especially for the level of service and quality you expect when dining here. Additionally, she never came back to ask how we liked everything that was re-prepared. Our steaks were warmed and new sides were brought out, but the food issues completely ruined what should have been a celebration. By the time everything came back out we were tired and ready to go. I would not recommend this steakhouse. Considering our check was over $400, the food quality should have been superior but missed the mark. Fold napkins when you leave the table, ask whether a white or black napkin is preferred, cover up dirty table cloth with a napkin etc). The food was delicious but for the high price, we expected slightly more. We've had quite a few nice meals in our lifetime, and for what we paid for, I would've excited a slightly more over the top experience. If it were 30% less expensive, I would probably give it a 5-star but it was lacking that special 'umpf' that deserves a 5-star. The star of the show was the espresso martini and the 24k Molten cake. Visited this place as I was visiting the Americana mall and staying across the street and had some good reviews so had to try it. Well start with the good. The side were delicious and really added to the meal or should I say was the focal point of the meal as the steak didn't live up to my expectations. The mash potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli all had great rate and were very tasty! They really delighted the table and all in our group were really happy with the sides. The lamb was good and the chicken was delish according to those who chose that as their meal. The service was ok and though we had 12 in our group and expected a bit better service being that the sever was going to earn around $125 to $200 tip but that wasn't the case. Some of our glasses were empty and had to ask someone to call our sever to get some water or drinks because they were finished and had not been refilled. As for the steak, the steak was about 1/2 an inch to maybe 3/4 of inch as max. The flavor was good but I ordered my steak medium and came out medium well. A little over cooked. My disappointment with the steak was not so much that it was overcooked, but that it was overcooked, thin for this for this type of steak house, and a bit dry probably because it was overcooked or just because the meat was not top quality. In my opinion, I would dine here again but not choose the steak and try the chickens and of course get the sides again. This should not be called a steakhouse when the steak is not cooked the way it should and thinner than what top quality steakhouses usually cut their steaks at which is typically an inch or more. read more
