We just saw it a few days ago on the street and decided to give a try today. No dedicated parking. Great atmosphere to go along with the name. You order at the counter and they bring you your meal to the table. Most all of the seating is sudo-outdoors. We entered and were greeted by the man at the register with a genuine smile and helpful attitude. He gave great recommendations and help with our first experience at the place. It only took about 15 min to bring the first round (yes, i went back after we'd licked the plates for a second rack of ribs). The food was nothing short of amazing. I wanted a tri-tip sandwich really bad. I was a little disappointed with what I received. First of all I didn't know that the sandwich had Cole Slaw and pickles on it. Plus the meat wasn't very good. It was tough and dry. Then lastly, I think it was way overpriced. It cost $30 for a sandwich. That is way too much. On the menu inside it said that it was $19.50 but my card was swiped and it totaled $30. I didn't realize it until I got home because I didn't get a receipt. If the prices have changed then the menu should reflect that. read more

There were 3 small baby back ribs (kind of tough and dry on some parts of each rib) you would think the special came with real sides but nope they only come with a bag of chips and a soda for each order as if you order a freaking sandwich. I do not know why they call it a "special" because I would have NEVER ordered had I known they were giving out kids meals at adult prices. This was definitely a 1 and done for me. I also went next door to KIMS BBQ and got a 3 piece beef rib lunch special and it came with 2 sides (REAL SIDES NOT CHIPS) and the cost was $14.50. KIMS beef ribs were tender compared to Bowleggs pork ribs and Kim's bbq sauce taste better too. I do not have complaints about Kim's BBQ and I will never go to Bowlegged BBQ again. No one makes rib tips like this place! I walked into this establishment and felt like I was at the backyard bbq with family. From the owner to every staff member i was greeted with a smile and incredible conversation. There is an area where you can watch the game with what felt like family. Visiting from Charlotte, NC, my friend told me to visit Bowlegged BBQ. I brought the spare rib 2 sides with collards and yams. The collards had a lot of stems and were not tender enough. Today I ordered from Bowlegged and again disappointed. I think the when the food is ordered through a food delivery app, their attitude is " whatever " ordered rib tips, and there were no tips. Just cut up Barbecue of some type. This is the third time that this has happened. The meat had the texture of old meat. It was like chewing gum. I don't like posting negative reviews. Bowlegged can do better. I ordered green beans and they sent greens. If an establishment is out of something, it's easy enough to inform the customer. I won't order food again. My friend and I both have never experienced someone who didn't value us as customers. We didn't feel welcomed. For example I asked if I could have the hot sauce from the customers at the neighboring table and she responded, you can get it yourself. I don't have a problem asking for things or getting things mysel. But her tone was uncalled for. They way she spoke to us throughout our stay was dismissal. However, we noticed her change of demeanor towards the young men at a nearby table. She was very flirtashish and more than willing to serve them. Delicious! I had the beef ribs, tri tip, rib tip, hot links, collards, baked beans and cornbread over 2 days. It was so good I had it again. First time I had it delivered the next day I had to go to the actually place. I gotta say it's not in the best of neighborhoods but so worth it to go. I went with my kids and the place felt like you were having a backyard bbq at a friends place. The place had a very homey feeling with friendly staff. I'm pretty sure I've been to most of the bbq places in San Diego this was definitely one of the best. The food was seasoned great with a touch of spice to it. We arrived about 145 pm on a Sunday and were able to order right away. Within 20 minutes, the place was filling up. I'd been craving BBQ for a couple of weeks, rib tips specifically, I remembered seeing Bowlegged BBQ on my way home one day and decided to look them up. I look em up on Yelp and majority of the reviews were praising how good the rib tips were here, jackpot! That's all I needed to hear. I placed an order online through Yelp and waited for the pick-up window to arrive before leaving my house. I wasn't paying attention when I initially arrived and missed the available parking right out front. After circling the block I found parking within 20 steps to the front of the establishment. Upon walking in I was greeted by the lovely hostess and the smell of some great BBQ. I let the hostess know I was here to pick up and my order was already waiting on the counter for me. Once I got home I opened my order and was ready to dig in. I ordered the rib tips plate with a side of greens, a medium dirty rice, and some extra BBQ sauce. Boy oh boy was I not ready for how tender, and flavor these rib tips were, Smokey, tender, and melted in your mouth. Additionally, I appreciated the care they took to line the styrofoam container compartment with wax paper so the ribs tips wouldn't burn through and all the sauce remained on the ribs. Now to the dirty rice....I cannot understand how the rice was the perfect level of spicy, yet filled with so much flavor, such that the spice was a nice addition to the flavor. My husband and I said the rice was one level before too spicy, which is exactly how we like our food. I was sad I didn't go with the large rice because I wanted more. The greens were very tender and flavorful, my daughter ended up eating nearly all of them off my plate. Another small detail that made a huge difference is the fact that the BBQ sauce was warm! The warm sauce, was tangy, savoy, and the slightest pinch of spice. Plus, my food was the perfect temp when I got home and I didn't have to reheat a single item, huge win! I apologize for the length of this review but I have to give Bowlegged BBQ their flowers because it was too amazing. My husband and I will be back, we ordered small the first time playing it safe but man did we have to fight the urge to go back the same day for more.
