Went there for dinner on Saturday, June 11 at a 4:15 res. Sat outside. Ordered the salmon and a lemonade. Lemonade was very weak - practically lemon flavored water. You could even see it in the coloring! I asked for another one and the second tasted little stronger but it was the same taste as a flavor packet added to water. The salmon was severely undercooked. I pointed it out and got a half hearted apology and an offer for something else but it was near the end of dinner and I had already lost my appetite. No comps from the bill for poor food that I had pointed out and the server actually acknowledged. Low and behold I got poisoning. My husband had a bite of my salmon and got a minor version. The whipped ricotta (appetizer) is to die for. But that's about where it ends. First, you basically *have* to valet park. The valet kid ripped our parking break release handle off (not sure why considering we've never used the parking break), so basically now if someone accidentally puts our parking break on, we have no way of releasing it. So valet parking is gonna cost us what? $500? $1,000? I dunno. It's a Mercedes. Nothing costs less than $500 to fix on a Mercedes. Second, if you don't have a seat at the bar and there happens to be a piano player that you want to sing with, don't even think about it. It's not the kind of place where you're invited to stand around and sing Christmas carols. Apparently you have to get there 2-3hrs in advance, get a seat and then you're welcome to sit and stare at the piano player while he plays. Should you dare (gasp) to try the standing room only thing, you'll be admonished by the older patrons who got there 2hrs in advance to get a seat at the bar so they could stare at the piano player. Bowman's used to have a good vibe during the holidays. Apparently we've been away from it for too long. Now it's just a bunch of old people who have no interest in singing ... just sitting around staring at the piano player (who rocks, btw). Beyond the fab appetizer, two of us had the Reuben. It sucked. Apparently the meatloaf was okay. And lastly, should you need to use the bathroom, be prepared to stand (in everyone's way) and wait. It's a shame, because I love the piano player. Wife and I love the atmosphere as we been here several times and food as always been very good. The wife and I started out with their French onion soup that was outstanding. Wife said it's one of the best she ever had. My wife had their triple cheese grill cheese that she didn't care for BC they put some type of jam on it. I ate her other half and I liked it. I ordered the meatloaf dinner that was Luke warm & the mashed potatoes were room temperature. Did pass this info to our waitress Dennis to pass onto the cook. A true gastropub with a lifetime of original creations on the menu that rotate seasonally. The tap offerings are unique as well. The Vermont IPA was excellent. My favorites from this visit include the cauliflower goat cheese soup, shrimp appetizer, wild boar meatballs, calamari. I wish i could've tried everything on the menu. Bowman's is a classier take on casual dining. A true local favorite. I love meeting up with friends and family here for yummy food and cocktails. They often have live music too, even during the week, which is a huge plus for me. Yesterday I made a reservation for three and requested a booth. We were running late and called to push our reservation back by 45 minutes. Despite being a busy night they were very accommodating and we still got the booth seating I had requested! The place was PACKED for a Thursday night but that didn't stop the service and food from being top notch. I am trying out a gluten free diet for medical reasons and their menu had many options marked gluten free. I didnt see anything that 100% appealed to me out of those options so I ordered a bit off menu and they were more than happy to accommodate that and I truly appreciated it. I ordered roasted salmon with mash potatoes and green beans(not on menu like that), while others in my party got the french cut chicken and a hot roast beef sandwich with onion rings. We all raved about our food. In the past, I have stopped here with my husband on nice days to enjoy happy hour outside, which is always a good time. We loved the cornmeal crusted oysters and the whipped ricotta appetizers to nibble on while we sip some tasty cocktails. read more

The service is ungodly slow and if you don't make a reservation, you may never get a table... that being said, their daily specials menu has left me craving the food here. I went to Bowman's on a Saturday night while in new hope with a group of 5 friends. We had reservations and were able to sit outside. I split the calamari with my boyfriend for an appetizer. It was not very crispy and I probably wouldn't get it again. I ordered the Bowman's burger with fries for my meal. I ordered the jalapeño aioli on the side to dip fries and the burger in - this was very good! The burger was big and a little messy. The fries were average. 2 people in our group got the fried chicken sandwich and both really liked it. The service was slow but we didn't mind since we were just spending time hanging out. read more

On a recent weekend trip to Pennsylvania going to Peddler's Village we stopped at Bowman's tavern. My daughter had looked up places and thought this place would be good for lunch! Well I have to tell you this place was a great choice. The ambience itself was cozy and comfortable . Nice roomy booths. My daughter and I had the toast lamb sandwich which was absolutely delicious! Hands down THE BEST ruben sandwich I've ever eaten. It was stuffed with huge chunks of juicy corned beef brisket. There was more sauerkraut than Swiss cheese, which is a good thing. I didn't see or taste much of the thousand island dressing which was also a good thing because the sandwich wasn't too messy and drippy. We also ordered the whipped ricotta to start, and I had the watermelon salad. The salad was an interesting and tasty mix of greens, watermelon, feta, and pistachios. The ricotta was out of this world...dressed with honey, aged balsamic, and burnt thyme. I tried the blueberry cobbler, it was so hot that I burned my tongue a little. I asked for a to go container because I was too stuffed to eat any more food. There's valet parking and a spacious patio for outside dining. The service was very attentive as well. I'd drive an hour from NJ to come here and eat that sandwich and ricotta again, without a doubt. read more

I don't normally ever write restaurant reviews but after tonight's meal, I felt very compelled to describe the overall dining experience. From the moment I parked the car with the valet to getting greeted at the door by the hostess, it was a very warm and inviting experience. Everybody couldn't have been nicer. The place was packed and there was live music by the piano playing a variety of jazzy tunes. We got seated right away in a nice cozy booth and the waitress promptly took our drink and eventually entree orders. One of my first issues was having to wait over an hour and fifteen minutes for our main courses. My wife nicely asked twice when the food was going to be coming. The waitress apologized for the delay and said they didn't want to bring out the main entrees until our appetizers were done. That was clearly not the case because we were finished with them within about ten minutes tops. I know the restaurant was busy for a Friday night, but my wife ordered a soba noodle salad as her main course and my Mother and I ordered the lamb chops. My mom ordered hers medium rare so they shouldn't realistically have taken that long to cook them. Mine was supposed to be medium well done but unfortunately, it was extremely pink on the inside. Only the outside of the lamb chop was medium at best. More importantly, my lamb chops were so spicy with cracked pepper, that it tasted like the chef dumped the entire bottle on it! I took maybe two bites and couldn't stomach it anymore. I felt sick and I had to drink several glasses of water just to digest it. At the end of the meal, I told the server who brought our food about my lamb chops. He offered to deduct the entire charge off of my meal and graciously would provide any substitute in advance like a dessert, appetizer, or even another entree. The waitress also confirmed that as well later on. I politely declined but appreciated his sincere apology. However, we then eventually receive the bill and the entree was not deducted!!! We just decided to swallow the charge and leave instead of making a formal complaint and a scene about the entire situation. I also want to add that I was also there for a late Sunday brunch back in approximately late October. I specifically ordered a chicken cheesesteak because I don't eat meat anymore. I even emphasized and said it twice to the waiter just to make absolutely sure he heard me correctly. The waiter said that would be no problem. It came and I got a cheesesteak with meat! Very disappointing. Not only that, but they didn't offer to take it off my bill either! I ate maybe four to five bites of it as well. They didn't even offer a substitute meal as well. Consequently, I am really trying to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt after all of these mistakes, but I can't honestly recommend it in all good faith. My patience is wearing thin. No matter how nice the decorum or atmosphere is, you are only as good as your food. read more

I am not a fan of their mandatory valet. I can understand having it to consolidate parking when it's busy but when there are 10 cars in the parking lot it's ridiculous. read more

It has gotten SO much better over the years! The menu is extensive and has about anything you could be craving. The bartenders are great and drinks are definitely strong!! Only downfall is when we ordered drinks from our table vs the bar it took a little longer than expected but it was a busy night. Visited with a group of 9. Valet parking, nice touch but I don't like waiting or paying ($5 tip) for parking in the country. Service was fantastic, drinks were cold and quick. Water refill were nonexistent. We ordered shrimp and calamari for the table. Shrimp were as expected, the calamari was rubbery. For the main course, I ordered the pork brisket, only to be informed that they were sold out (this was before 6 pm). Substituted the meatloaf. Bad choice, look, texture and taste (my estimation) of canned dog food. Beans were perfect, tasty and crisp. Tried to finish with vanilla rice pudding, taste was ok, texture was too thin and runny. Overall, very disappointing. Not worth going out of my way. The place was packed when we left at 7:15 so they must be doing something right or are only restaurant in 5 miles. May consider stopping for lunch, burger menu looked good. read more

We enjoy dining at different spots and we decided to try out Bowman's Tavern last night. The valet, the vibe, our server, food and drinks were all great. You may enjoy your time there both outdoors (weather permitting) and in and along with the two bars, it's spacious enough to gather around the piano and enjoy the featured artist(s) of the evening. We started off with the smoked trout rilletes--along with the narrow ciabatta bits, it was perfectly blended and smeared easily. The goat stew soup was excellent and perfect for the season. The 8 oz dry aged pub steak was cooked medium rare, as requested, and it's presented to you already sliced so you can dig in right away. The pan seared scallops with the butter nut squash grits was cooked perfectly. I'm not a fan of grits but these were exceptional. The desert options were traditional except the butternut squash pie--yes, pie. Better than pumpkin pie any day of the week. The apple cobbler was loaded with sliced apples and the crumble was nice and toasty but it's best shared. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and looking forward to returning real soon. read more

Had a really fantastic meal here. The restaurant is gigantic, and located in a nice area. They have complimentary valet parking, which makes life much easier. We had a number of their specials, and the gazpacho soup was some of the best that I've ever had. I also really enjoyed the shrimp and grits, as well as the Bowmans Burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed it. The drinks here also quite tasty, and don't forget to order dessert! Service was wonderful as well, everyone was very friendly. I've been driving by Bowman's for years and have always made an "I need to check this place out" mental note based on the volume of cars in the lot. The night started with reservations for four at 9 PM. The environment is quaint (including a contemporary Jazz Trio), the service was friendly & accommodating, the prices are very fair and the food is wonderful. Overall I would give Bowman's a 9.5 rating, this is our new favorite dinner spot. Calamari: Flavorful, crispy and topped with a savory garlic aioli and marinara sauce. Crispy Pork Belly: Tender, delicious, with a faint taste of maple/apple served over a sweet potato puree. I enjoy pork belly and this is the best I've ever had. Macaroni & Cheese: I'm not a usual fan of Mac & Cheese but this is delicious. Peppercorn brined pork chops served over fresh mash potatoes: Thick cut, tender and well-seasoned. Salmon with mash potatoes: The Salmon was tender and very well prepared. Meatloaf with mash potatoes: The meatloaf was perfect cooked and well seasoned with a slight balance of sweet. read more

$25 for a Caesar salad (aka small handful of lettuce) with 3 small slices of steak...at first I thought the bill was wrong but that's apparently what I ordered. It was good, but the price is outrageous. I visited here last night for an early dinner. I've been wanting to come so I was really excited to finally have a chance to get here. The fall menu for me was kind of eh. I started with the pumpkin seed dip (it was okay, not the most appetizing looking thing). I got the scallops for dinner - so good! The featured drink was great, but didn't look as advertised on their social media. The inside of the restaurant is super cozy and I really enjoyed the ambiance. Our server was great and everything came out at a good pace. They are doing 5% off for cash, which I think is great. 90 minute time limit so if you're looking to hang out with a large group, this might not be the best time to dine here. The food and service were phenomenal. Since we arrived in time for brunch, we opted to start with mimosas which were brought out quickly with a fresh orange twist at the rim of the glass. For the actual meal, we started with the whipped ricotta and salads (I had the Caesar). The whipped ricotta had amazing flavor with a touch of honey and burnt thyme on top, served up with a few toasted crostini for spreading. The salad was well dressed and the croutons were fresh. I did not have them add additional anchovies, although it may not have been a bad idea. The dressing itself has a subtle anchovy taste, the way it should. For the entree I had ordered the bowman burger, with no bacon (have to watch my calories, even on my cheat day). The burger was cooked to perfection with a solid char to it. Despite how much they fit on the buttery brioche bun, the burger wasn't too messy (which I like). Overall it was a great experience. I'd recommend ordering everything up front as they stagger the dishes with good timing so you can really enjoy the flow of the courses. read more

I was visiting my cousin for the New Year's holiday and Bowman's Tavern is the closest restaurant to their house so they are quite frequent visitors of the establishment. We had been there before on previous visits. The food is always good and it's clear everyone in town things so because it is always hopping! Because of it being the holiday weekend, we did call ahead to try to make a reservation for 2:30 in the afternoon. It was quite a surprise to us and my family when the hostess was less than pleasurable on the phone. She made it seem like there was no room at all but when we got there we didn't have any trouble being seated. Our server was great in the food was delicious, as always! I opted for the burger, which was perfectly done. Being a classy place, there is no ketchup bottle on the table nor do they bring one. I did request extra ketchup when I ordered seeing as they usually bring you a thimbleful at most restaurants. The server did listen and brought me a small bowl to fulfill my ketchup consuming needs. :-) I'm sure there will be Bowman's again in our future on subsequent visits! read more
