Bowman's is my favorite restaurant, by far. The food is always fresh and creative and delicious, and their cocktails are far more generous compared to other places around here. We rarely get to go out for brunch (my favorite meal), and I have been dying to try Bowman's Sunday Brunch. We finally got to try it today. There were 5 of us, and it could not have been more lovely. Three of us had the omelette with potatoes and spring greens, one had the Eggs Benedict, and one had the beef stew (from the regular menu.) Every single one of us loved what we had chosen. We all shared the whipped Fulper Farms ricotta and crostini appetizer to start, which is one of my favorite things. Yum! The service by Carly and the rest of the extremely attentive staff was perfection, as always. And the music, provided by Bill Avayou and his group, was absolutely divine. I have passed this place many times going into New Hope. The other week we finally decided to check it out with my brother & sister in law. On Thursday nights, they have live singers/bands. I called on Monday to make a reservation since the weather was getting nicer out & I wanted to make sure we had a table not knowing how busy they really got. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. We got there a little earlier than my brother & S.I.L. so we decided to have a drink at the bar. They have complimentary fresh popped popcorn they give you. I love this idea! I ordered a black-raspberry cosmo, it was delicious! I could have drank a few more but since I was driving I stuck with 1. We were seated as soon as everyone in our party showed up, we had a great view of the live music. I was pleasantly surprised the music was not overly loud, where you can not talk to your table. Our singer was very energetic and really engaged with the restaurant. Our table ordered pan seared gnocchi, wood roasted lamb sandwich, the filet. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Zero stars - come here, especially if you are a woman, if you want to be berated and verbally attacked by the owner for noting your pork chop has taken over 30 minutes to arrive! Literally called my friend a disgusting pig for noting that to the waitress. All the verbal abuse being said in front of a toddler. What a great experience from efficient vallet parking to perfect service to perfect food. We were so happy with dinner tonight! We chose to share a super fresh beet salad with microgreens, roasted pistachios and feta. It was absolutely delicious! My friend had French onion soup and fried oysters... a weird combo but she said they were yummy. I had wonderfully crispy fish and chips with delicious coleslaw about the best I ever ate. Even my iced tea was on point. Our server was outstanding. We were treated exactly like you'd want the best service to be. There was an excellent piano player and the mood was great. What a great locals kind of place. They have valet parking in busy nights, so be prepared. We were a party of 8 and the service was perfect! As were the food and drinks. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the olive oil poached beets and a house salad. Both were fresh and appealing to my eye. Aria d they table we had scallops, salmon, chicken all with the house salad. I enjoyed that we weren't rushed and could talk for a while. There was live music that wasn't just the right volume. I came here for two things: their French Onion Soup and their Cheesesteak. Both were incredible. One of the best French Onion Soups I've ever had (and I've had a lot!). The cheese was delicious and "baked" on to the bowl. The soup itself was hot and flavorful! The Cheesesteak was filling and also delicious. I got it with provolone and some fried onions. Man, I was stuffed but it was a great lunch! Sat at the bar, which I enjoyed as well. Wish I lived closer to this place. (It's 90 minutes from me!) Bowman's is one of the best brunch places in the area. Never disappointed, always consistent, and live music in the background is a lovely touch. I've had too many good things on the menu to name them all but today we had.... Eggs Benedict (Perfect in every way!), Whipped Ricotta (Silky, Divine Goodness), and Cornmeal Crusted Oysters (Perfectly Juicy on the inside, Light Crunch on the outside). With 2 bars, private rooms and formal dining tables, you can make it a quick bite, a romantic meal or a family affair. Be prepared for Valet parking. Sitting in the long shadow of Bowman's Tower, the Conservation Corps public works project in the 1930s putting people back to work during the Depression, the tavern on beautiful River Road approaching New Hope, PA, is a well executed colonial style pub. It has a dark paneled dining room, and revolutionary edged barroom that capture what it may have been like to be part of the independence effort in the 18th Century around here. It really feels good to be part of that, even if just for lunch. I was there for the first time in at least a decade, and the new ownership can be proud of what it has maintained, and created in terms of atmosphere and ethos. Their menu is wholesome with wide choice of apps, sandwiches, soup, salad, burgers, and trop cher entrees. When I spied a brussel sprouts side dish and potato bisque, I knew where I was going. Two of my favorite ingredients in any dish - cream based potato soup and kale/brussels side salad were too special to pass up. Even better, my lunchmate went with the scallops main course and slid a couple onto my plate for the tasting. Yes! Everything was very good to amazing. The bisque seemed to have mushroom puree mixed with the pomme de terre, making for a savory rendition. Delicious. The balance between the slightly bitter kale, and the more subtle brussel sprouts was a bit off to my taste. It needed more petit choux and less kale to really make me happy (in fact, the kale was not in the a la carte sides description, but was definitely in the dish). The seared scallops was true to their word, and just mildly grilled, with sweet potato puree, caramelized apples, pancetta, almonds and cider brown butter drizzle. It was a real treat, but a heavy lift for lunch @ $27. Bowman's Tavern is deep with atmosphere, and successfully carries out its promise of colonial charm, local produce where possible, and skilled hands in the kitchen. It is easy to imagine the General and his officers discussing plans for the next battles around the bar, or at the dinner table in the back room. read more

Horrible food. Used to be amazing went multiple times a week. The lunch club used to be amazing. Have had raw and incorrectly prepared food the last few times. I don't want to have a 50/50 chance of having a terrible meal. Service is usually good. Owner has anger issues, seen him yelling at customers for sending food back. Parking lot is terrible for some reason doesn't have lines for spots and has terrible quality gravel that leaves cars and shoes filthy. Valet has always been amazing and respectful. read more

Before Covid this place was the tops for a casual but excellent meal. Shortly after Covid and they reopened it was disappointing (for several months). Now, it seems to be back and in full force. Went to Bowman's Tavern for a late Sunday lunch. It was my first time at Bowman's and on arrival was greeted by the valet...which I found to be a bit unusual for a Tavern. The parking lot was less than full, so a valet wasn't required, but I went with the flow. They also have live music (piano player) which was a nice touch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but be warned the outdoor seating provides but a parking lot view. Inside the tavern had pretty traditional decor. Service was prompt and quite pleasant throughout. For lunch I ordered the pork sandwich which was ok, albeit nothing to write home about. Overall a nice visit and I would come back, but there are other great options in the New Hope area. read more

With so many extravagant places to eat between New Hope and Peddler's Village it's hard to choose one final destination to enjoy a meal. Bowman's was an unregretable choice. Once inside we were welcomed with a warm setting and booth seat in a much more privatized area away from the bar. He had the meatloaf in a red wine gravy, which was full of flavor, juicy and well-portioned. Alongside the meatloaf was mashed potato and green beans for the steeper price of $18. I relished in the $13 roast lamb sandwich on a fresh ciabatta roll. The portobello mushroom with goat cheese was a savory compliment to the lamb. On the side was creamy potato salad that was an added bonus. The server was fun to chit chat with and she seemed really interested in what we had done on our day trip. Besides that, we had an fun time filled with inside jokes and a tasty meal that I'd recommend. Since the restaurant is on a traveling route into/outside New Hope their isn't street parking, but there are no worries since they have valet parking. Directly across the way is the Bowman's Tower. I haven't gone to see it but have heard it has an amazing view. read more

We have been dying to go to Bowman's Tavern for quite some time. We've had several friends rave about it but, every time we go to make a same day reservation, they are completely booked (unless we want to eat at 9pm). That's definitely a good sign! This time I used the brains I was given and made reservations a week in advance. I was finally able to experience for myself why Bowman's gets such high praise. As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with fantastic aromas coming from the kitchen, as well as warm, welcoming smiles and hellos from the hostess and manager. We were seated immediately in their cozy dining room and I was pleased to find out that we could still hear the bar pianist who provided lovely dinner music. I have to give special recognition to our server Jessica. She was fantastic... on point... superb... patient... friendly, etc. (I'm running out of adjectives). This is exactly how service should be! We started with a few appetizers; French fries, Bibb lettuce salad and Fried Oysters. My friend was in love with her Bibb salad and said it was one of the best salads she's ever had. A delicious mix of lettuce, cornbread croutons, smoked gouda and onion vinaigrette. The oysters were lightly battered and paired nicely with the spicy aioli. Our main entrees were the Swordfish special, build-your-own Burger, Seared Scallops and the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich. One of our friends had the Swordfish. He said it was flaky yet firm and the vegetable mix with squash and zucchini was excellent. He never tasted anything like it. Our other friend had the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich which she said was very tender. The roll had the perfect chewiness and the horseradish sauce had a nice little bite to it. My husband had the Seared Scallops. Six large scallops cooked perfectly and he absolutely loved the unique vegetable accompaniment of pea puree, white asparagus, Peruvian potatoes, pit ham, mustard greens and pearl onions. He's never had anything like it. I built my own burger. It was a large, grass-fed, char-broiled beef burger that was oh-so delicious. The char-broiled flavor was absolutely fantastic! The shredded lettuce, cheese and mayo made this burger one of the best I've ever had. I wish I could eat one every day. Oh yes, let's not forget the onion rings and French fries. The onion rings had the perfect amount of batter. They were crisp but not greasy, the way onion rings should be! The fries were also cooked exactly the way I like them. We ended the evening with their outstanding freshly brewed coffee. We were presented with the check but not rushed out by any means. As we walked out many of the staff thanked us for coming and wished us a pleasant weekend. Overall, Bowman's Tavern was one of the best dining experiences we've had in recent years! My wife and I tried Bowman's Tavern for dinner on a Friday night. It's in an interesting location, in New Hope but away from the main center of town, making it kind of off the beaten path. I'd recommend checking it out, though, because the food here is quite tasty. The decor at Bowman's is rustic and quaint, not over-the-top and pretentious. We had a nice window seat in a comfortable booth. My wife and I were sat approximately five minutes after arriving (we had made reservations on Open Table). After being sat, we were quickly attended to by a friendly waitress and ordered our drinks. My wife enjoyed the house pinot grigio, and the draft Stella Artois I ordered was also good. My wife ordered the roasted grape salad, and she really enjoyed it. It was a nice-sized portion. She ordered it with grilled chicken and was pleased at how the chicken was prepared. Meanwhile, I ordered the Black & Blue burger, which was really quite good. The cajun spices imparted a nice flavor, and the blue cheese and red onion jam worked really well without being overpowering. Many times, when you order a burger all you can taste are the toppings. That wasn't the case here. It's a really good burger, and I appreciate that the chefs at Bowman's prepared it in a way that actually allows you to taste the actual burger, with the accompaniments enhancing its flavor instead of covering it. Isaac Newton's in Newtown has a similar burger, but I preferred the one here. My only major complaint is that the happy hour menu is restricted to the bar area and this is not made clear on Bowman's website. Overall, though, we really enjoyed Bowman's and we will definitely be back. I was trying to think of how to best describe this place, but I think the description that fits best is that Bowman's Tavern is a MUCH better version of the Yardley Inn. Bucks County residents will know what that means. If you don't, just know that Bowman's Tavern is really good and all worth the trip. read more

To my Brooklynite eyes, this restaurant was situated in the middle of nowhere on the side of an unassuming back country road. My wife and I were staying around New Hope for the weekend and were on our way to dinner at somewhere completely different when we passed Bowman's entirely by chance. We noticed that the parking lot was packed, we recognized the name from previous Yelp area-research, and we were feeling spontaneous. When in Rome, right? An entire parking lot of assumed locals probably aren't wrong, right? Well, we gambled on them. And we won. Bowman's is awesome. Quick decision--well made! As I said, the parking lot was packed to capacity. (Quick note about that: there is free, but mandatory, valet). So when we got inside, we were not surprised to hear they're all booked up and the next availability isn't for maybe another hour. We were willing to wait, but then learned that the bar area is first-come, and a couple just happened to be leaving one of the tables in there. My wife and I have no qualms with the bar, so we were happy to take the quick seat. The whole place inside Bowman's is very clean, neat, and cozy with an intimate/classy flair. Definitely a great spot for a date, but also good for a group when you want to do something on the upscale spectrum. I saw people with their kids, but I don't think I'd bring the little ones. Either way, the service, the environment, and the menu have got definite class. For reference: in the main dining area on the night we were there, they had an adorable old man playing live tunes on a grand piano and crooning for the dining room. It was just the right amount of awesome. Anyway, we ordered one of the burgers with cole slaw, a fig/sweet potato salad, and a couple rounds of beers. Everything was great and we were very pleased. A nice touch in the bar area was a little tin of popcorn on the table that they were refilling regularly from a popcorn machine behind the bar. All in all, we had a great time and we were happy we stopped off and changed course to dine at Bowman's. Went there for dinner on Saturday, June 11 at a 4:15 res. Sat outside. Ordered the salmon and a lemonade. Lemonade was very weak - practically lemon flavored water. You could even see it in the coloring! I asked for another one and the second tasted little stronger but it was the same taste as a flavor packet added to water. The salmon was severely undercooked. I pointed it out and got a half hearted apology and an offer for something else but it was near the end of dinner and I had already lost my appetite. No comps from the bill for poor food that I had pointed out and the server actually acknowledged. Low and behold I got poisoning. My husband had a bite of my salmon and got a minor version. Two days later and still recovering. Never returning. read more
