While this place is welcoming on the outside, some of the staff on the inside are downright rude. As we entered the bar we were immediately told the staff would not serve us where we were standing. Went to other end and the staff member said "you wont be served there either ". I asked if I could go to the center of the bar for a drink and she said no. Told me there was a 30 min wait, which I interpreted as "we don't need your business". Can't comment on the food because they never offered us an opportunity to stay. Lots of other great places in Lambertville that appreciate you as a customer - avoid this one. read more

This was our favorite place to go on weekdays before Covid. Then things changed, linen tablecloths disappeared. Overall internal ambiance is still attractive but the menu became limited. The restaurant used to be very nice, but no longer.... Unfortunately the quality of food has DECLINED dramatically. We celebrated a big birthday, with 13 people in a separate room upstairs. Nice atmosphere, nice service! However, 60% of the meals were abominable and shamefully distasteful! It was frustrating to hear people trying to provide the feedback that the food "could not be cut with a knife, it was so hard", even an association to dog food was made. This is particularly true for the lamb chops and the sword fish! The green salad with blue cheese was good, for one!... I would not recommend this restaurant any longer, until they revamp the food and change the chef! read more

My family recently enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at The Swan in Lambertville. I used to frequent The Swan when I lived in the area so it was great to make a return visit. We were seated in a cozy but cool private upstairs room which was decorated with some memorabilia from England's royal family. My meal (Caesar salad, duck breast) was delicious, as was my fruit tart dessert. The vanilla pepper ice cream was different and also very tasty. Our servers were attentive and pleasant. read more

We had a female disgruntled server SLAM the door on us as we were the only ones left in the restaurant, however, we had no idea we were the last ones there tucked away in a private room up on the 2nd floor that we didn't ask for.... Service is always touch and go. The hostess and waitress can be downright rude and unwelcoming. But food is excellent.

The food was great and the service was impeccable. The chicken, liver pate was amazing and there's no shortage of bread for spreading. The swordfish was fresh and presented really well. Desserts were amazing too. Really nice ambience tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Reminded me of the original Friday, Saturday, Sunday restaurant in Philly. They try to present themselves as an upscale restaurant, but the food is mediocre at best. We had the snapper, and it was very "fishy" (possibly not fresh). I tried to get a reservation downstairs on the lounge area and was told they don't take reservations for the lounge. So, we were seated at a table in a small room upstairs, overlooking a tar rooftop. I have been there before for beer and appetizers, was seated on the patio, and the appetizers were OK. My recommendation is don't bother making a reservation so you can sit downstairs in the main area and stick to cocktails and finger foods. There are too many other restaurants in the area for fine dining with better food and ambiance. read more

We were in town to see a movie and decided to have dinner at Anton's beforehand which we found via OpenTable. Turned out to be a great choice! The food, service and atmosphere were all quite good. We really enjoyed the cozy dining room with its quaint decor and old time charm. It was a really nice spot to unwind, have a drink and engage in some conservation. The noise level was absolutely perfect; not too loud, not too quiet. Service was attentive and swift. They got us seated promptly upon arrival and dinner was served within 20 minutes of placing our order. The food was quite good too! I got the beef filet topped with gorgonzola along with a side of fingerling potatoes and sautéed vegetables. The steak was sublime and had great flavor, easily on par with any upscale restaurant and in my opinion, surprisingly better than a steakhouse like Ruth's Chris or Morton's. Yes, that good! My wife got the grab cake and had nothing but nice things to say about it. Overall, we had an excellent time at Anton's and would absolutely love to go back in the near future. I really hope the modest menu is updated often because I'd love to sample more of the chef's cooking. Five stars. read more

Last night was our first time eating there and we were all delighted with our experience. The ambiance screams "Quintessential Lambertville". The cocktails were fantastic. Two of us had Manhattans and one had the Martini special. Serious kudos to the bartender. For the meal two of us ordered the Red Snapper that our server recommended and one ordered the hanger steak cooked rare. We were all very pleased with the meal, the red snapper was particularly delicious. I didn't order dessert but my two friends did and they were singing the praises of them. My wife and I love Anton's! We have gone there for special occasions for many years. Tonight because of Covid-19 we ordered takeout for our anniversary. My wife knows how much I love great bread and how frustrated and disappointed I have been with the many bread samples I have tried over the past year. She ordered the sour dough bread shown in the picture and neither of us could stop eating it with butter. It was fabulous, and almost upstaged the wonderful dinner! Not what it used to be, that's for sure. It's been years since I've dined at Anton's, and one of the few places in the Lambertville/New Hope area I used to enjoy regularly, so meeting friends there on very short notice for dinner seemed like a logical choice. Service was experienced and polite, of course it was Saturday night where the A teams are all out in force. But beyond the service, I was disappointed, or even worse, I just placed this restaurant on my list of "I'll give them a chance again in the future, but not rushing back." Watermelon and feta salad: the watermelon was plentiful but not sweet, the feta was sparse. Mixed green salad with walnuts: I was told was good. But my constructively critical tongue did not have a taste. Grilled pork chop: the porcini mushroom cream sauce was "the" dish, loved it, was very good, and not too heavy BUT the pork chop itself was a chewy, overcooked, dry slab of meat. It was probably of good quality from the looks of it, but lost it's life by chef. Chicken with corn and bacon risotto: The char of the skin was flavorful, but again the meat was dry as the pork chop. Rare tuna: I didn't taste, but my friend said it was blah, and the red wine sauce was irrelevant and uneventful. I thought it was strange that on a perfect summer evening with temps in the low 70's and no humidity, and traffic on the bridge going into Lambertville was jammed with people out and about, we were able to get a reservation in prime time with 30 minutes notice. They have a nice selection of wines and cocktails and the food is always very good. The staff here is delightful. The charm at this place is unmistakeable. Beautifully lit and impeccably decorated, this is a wonderful place to come out for a romantic evening on the town. I had heard about this place for a while and was excited to come here, and for good reason. I love the flow and configuration, inviting many to grab a drink together and acquaint themselves, right next to the warm fireplace. After a minute we had made our drink order We chatted with a local for a few minutes and sipped our delicious libations, taking it all in. The artwork was everywhere even on the ceilings, lots of antique paintings that have apparently been there since the place opened a very long time ago. We decided to split a bowl of pumpkin soup which was silky, warm, light, and tasty. A little side of pita and fresh tomato went a long way. To top that off we shared a pork chop which came out cooked perfectly! Juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. So glad I was recommended this place, I can't wait to come back. read more

We planned a quiet night to catch up and enjoy food that was fulfilling and interesting but comforting and not fussy. We had the pessimistic red blend and some Icelandic Ale both were very good. Our meal was the squash soup of the day and the Mashed pizza with the kick, blue cheese and sriracha we also had the impossible bulgogi burger. Impossibly delicious. The potato salad was absolutely amazing. So all-in-all we felt the ambience, architecture, location, food, service was all together perfect and we had the opportunity to share a great meal in a private space, in spite of other diners. We felt we had the place to ourselves. Attention from wait staff was key for that experience also. We plan to go back for pizza and dessert soon. We were unable to try dessert because we were fully satiated. The petite chocolate chip cookies offered with our check were the last touch of the home cooked meal that ends with a little sweetness. Decided to try dinner here and it was a great decision. Started with a dirty gin martini, and my wife had an espresso martini both were delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. Had the tuna and it was seared perfectly, nice and rare in the center. Wife had the burger which she is usually very picky about and it was cooked medium to perfection and was NOT a patty and was delicious. The only possible criticism would be if they served it (burger) with a few fresh French fries instead of potato chips it would have been great. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, and hate to say it, but was underwhelmed. Maybe it's a pandemic thing because another stellar restaurant we would frequent didn't live up to it's pre-pandemic reputation. So I am hoping that's what happened here. Service was great, attentive and quick. The decor is cool! Plating lacked presentation, so I am thinking maybe it's more of a comfort food vibe with finer dining pricing? Liver pate was a hit with grandpa, deviled eggs were just ok, the mushroom risotto was good, but the mushrooms could have used a little more umph. I thought my chicken dish was tasty, veggies overcooked, lacking that nice crunch. Gpa on the other hand, wasn't thrilled with his chicken. My son loved his swordfish, maybe a starch or veg added to the plate would have completed it a bit more? My husband had the cod, "fried in butter with no salt or pepper" he wasn't happy with it.
