My wife called our order in at 6:00 on a Wednesday. Two small cheesesteaks and an order of fries. She was told 15-20 minutes. I got there at 6:20 to pick up the order. I paid and was told it'd be a couple minutes. Finally at 6:40 I asked if it was ready. I was told not yet, the dining room got busy. (Apparently those orders are more important.) A patron that was there before I arrived asked about his order. He got the same answer and had been waiting the same 40 minutes. The gentleman behind me said, "I thought 30 minutes was bad." Great crab cakes! But they are very, very pricey! Call ahead for carryout orders. Wait time can be about 30 minutes on a Friday or Saturday night. It's a small restaurant with limited out door seating. The pizza is a little greasy and it's a bummer that they don't use fresh dough. The pizza has potential to taste better. I've been to this place previously but decided this time to write a review. The food here is great! I ordered the crab cake BLT with a side salad and a slice of lemon blueberry cake. The crab cake BLT was amazing. The crab cake barely had any filler and it was a nice size. The vegetables were fresh and it was seasoned well. The bacon could have been crispier though. I did not enough the Caesar salad due to the dressing. It was sour and ruined the entire thing. The cake was good. It was more lemony than blueberry and I wish that it was more balanced. This is my first time and visit here at BHP. I hear the ads on 105.7 the fan on the radio. My expectations were very high due to the ads on the radio. My reviews are honest and straight to the point. Only place to get crab cakes is the Baltimore, MD area IMO. I got the crab cake platter with fries and coleslaw today. The crabcake tasted good and had jumbo lump crab meat. However I do not think the crabcake was cooked thoroughly. So it was edible I just believed that the attention to detail should have been notice for this order. It was just too mushy in the middle. Overall it's 3 solid stars. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. Service was great. Got free garlic bread. Split pea soup was delicious. I'm not sure if I will be back or not. The staff was rude and were judging me with their eyes when I picked up my order the other week. I feel like they wanted to say something about my weight but were forcing a smile and laughing behind my back. They even went as far as to mispronunce my last name WHICH ISNT HARD TO SAY. As I sit here in this restaurant that feels like family. I am amazed at the customer service. It is so spectacular. Our waitress Theresa was amazzzzing. She had the best attitude I have ever experienced. Not to mention the food was great. I recommend the lasagna. Theresa also suggested a sauce to dip the garlic bread in which was so fresh and great. SO GOOD!!! This place is a must if your wanting a crab cake meal! The price is right and they do the meat perfectly. I got the 4oz with fries and slaw and it all went together perfectly. My hubby got the crab cake sandwich which was amazing and it was enourmous!! They were so busy and our waitress forgot about us for almost an hour but other than that it was great. I am no crab cake expert, but man oh man, these are good crap cakes. These are not your run of the mill hockey puck cakes, but a real crab meat mound of goodness. Large chunks of crab meat for all. ***Update*** A new shipment was overnighted to us and the crab cakes were fresh. I appreciate the restaurant getting back to us. We used to live in Harford County and frequently went to Box Hill Pizza for their great crab cakes. We moved to Florida a few years ago and have sent them to family as gifts and received them as gifts as well. This year, we received four crab cakes in the mail on December 15 after they were ordered by our family on December 5. They were frozen when they arrived, but they had a strange smell. We thawed two out and broiled them in the oven. The whole house wreaked of a strange fishy smell. We hoped it was just the packaging. As we sat at the table to enjoy our dinner, we realized the crab cakes were where the smell was emanating from. I took the tiniest bite and had to spit it out. As disappointing as this was, I figured there was a mistake. I emailed Box Hill a copy of our packing slip and our tracking information. They said the crab cakes were shipped on December 13 and arrived in two days. I replied that I understood but there must have been some issue since the crab was bad and inedible. They replied they could do nothing and would let the owner know. So the four very expensive gifts our family purchased and we were so looking forward to enjoying we're thrown out, the house had to be aired out and I will not be going back to Box Hill Pizza again or letting my friends and family purchase from there. ***update*** I was contacted by Box Hill and was told they would be happy to refund or replace the crab cakes after seeing this review. I thought that was great. They asked if they could send them out after the holidays and of course I said that was fine. Guess what? No replacement order, no refund and no communication. Ate here Thursday night with family from Pennsylvania and Maryland, as this location was reachable by all. The service was excellent. The food was very good. Within the group we had fried mushrooms, calamari, some pizzas, some wings, some crab cakes, some spinach pies, and some pasta. Everyone was pleased and there were some leftovers, for which they provided appropriate packaging for the various dishes. We opted to sit on their covered patio, so they turned on the heaters for us and within a few minutes the area was very comfortable. We will be back as we expect to meet the family somewhere nearby a couple times a year. read more

Box Hill Pizzeria definitely has the best crab cakes in Maryland. Hands down they have the best crab cakes. I went to this place a while ago with my wife and son; when I was stationed at APG. This place stays pack, and looking at some pictures from other reviews; box hill has remodeled their pizzeria. (I'm so sorry Sir lol) Now on to the food. I always get the crab cake platter. The platter comes with either one crab cake or two fresh nice size crab cakes, French fries, and coleslaw. You have the choice to get either one or two. I normally get two, because I'm so in love with their crab cakes. Now don't get it twisted; one crab cake is more than enough. I just get two because my stomach somehow gives me extra room to digest two instead of one. Once that crab cake hits your mouth it's nothing like it. I love seafood in general, and crab cakes is probably my favorite. This place has a place in my heart as well. The wait isn't that long. The longest I ever waited was maybe ten minutes. The people are friendly at box hill. The people here are really nice. The customer service is great as well. I love everything about this place. If you ever come to the state of Maryland and you think you been to a place that has the best crab cakes; then you're wrong because Box Hill has the best. Saw this place on Tik Tok and had to visit. There's MD crab cakes and then there's Box Hill's crab cakes. There 8 oz. crab cakes are outstanding, seasoned to perfection. Heaping portions of jumbo lump crab in every cake along with back fin meat. Very little filler, just enough to bind the crab cake. I judge crab cakes by the amount of shells I have to take out of my mouth. My Box Hill crab cakes - NO SHELLS. One more time for the folks in the back - we found no shells in our crab cakes. I know people have found shells, but I surmise most don't. Kudos to their pickers. I got the Greek salad with my crab cakes and the salad came with a block of feta cheese vice crumbled on top. It was rather a classy touch. Dessert was strawberry short cake. Very fresh and moist. For those looking for a more challenging dessert, they got you. You have to try their large eclair. It's the size of jumbo sub filled with pastry cream and topped with chocolate. Surprisingly, very tasty for a pastry that size. Next time, I will try a slice of pizza along with my crab cakes. The other element to Box Hill Pizzeria and Crab Cakes is its people. Starting at the top is Tommy. He's the ultimate restaurateur. His customer service is legendary. He makes time to speak to most customers and if he observes a look of concern on your face, he's right over asking about it. There are a couple of signs posted, (and I paraphrase), if you treated rudely or unprofessionally by any staff, let management know, immediately. You don't stay in business four decades with mediocre customer service. All of the staff there follow his lead with customer service. should you be fortunate enough to have Teresa as your server, LISTEN to her. (lol) Take her recommendations as you order. The tossed salad was lacking, it included lettuce, two tomato slices, and a few onion slices. The homemade creamy Italian dressing was good. The garlic bread looked great, but was very bland.
