    Porterhouse Steak Medium

Steak was delicious and for the price, definitely worth it. Def will be back!!! Mash potatoes and gravy was creamy and good as heck!!! Now... the only bone i got to pick is with This Smith Island Cake!!!! Living on the eastern shore for a lil bit, I've been fortunate to have a smith island cake from smith island. Now i don't know what's Michael's need to do, but they might wanna take a trip to Smith island and work out a deal with them, but if you gonna have the Smith Island cake, Please let it taste like the actual Smith Island cake!!!

First time to this location and it left a memorable impression! I came here with a large group and we were seated right away! The service was wonderful! The decor was dated but the restaurant felt comfortable and a good place to eat. I ordered a filet mignon after having a bowl of French onion soup. My soup was good but a little salty! And there wasn't much stock in my soup but lots of cheesy goodness! My filet mignon was tasty but the texture didn't feel like a true filet mignon that tends to melt in my mouth. This cut was a bit on the chewy side. I didn't enjoy the mashed potatoes as it tasted prepackaged and not like fresh whipped potatoes. My friends enjoyed their meals and said their food was tasty. We all agreed on the decor needing an updating. Overall it was still a great experience and worth a visit!

    NY strip with crab cake

We went to Michael's for their restaurant week deal. The food was okay but I wouldn't consider it worth the price. The stuffed mushrooms were good; it was a lot of crab with a few mushrooms. Cream of crab was not very crab-forward. NY strip was over done for me and my fiance's was certainly too cooked for his liking. I got a side of brussel sprouts which was a mistake - I think they were steamed and sitting in some kind of water or oil. Their fries were ok. Service was ok - our server was nice but everything was slow, a soda refill was given to the wrong table, the wrong soup was brought out at first. The restaurant is older. There's a lot of lights and the decor of sort of old, western. There was mainstream pop playing. Overall, experience was ok. Food and service was not quite up to our expectations.

During restaurant week, I like to visit the establishments with 3 money signs ($$$) to determine if I'd go back and spend real $$$. Michael's was such a place and since I like steak, I was all in. I checked out the restaurant week lunch menu in advance and made a reservation for this past Saturday afternoon. Michael's is far from where I live but that actually doesn't factor into my 2 star review. I walked into the restaurant and was shocked at how divey it was. It looked like it's not been renovated since the early 70s. There was super dark paneling throughout, no windows, dated art, tables, and chairs. I was seated in the far back and was back there FREEZING. The hostess seated me with menus and I was surprised to see the petite filet mignon I'd planned to order was not on it. I'd seen it on the online menu, so I verified with the waitress when she approached the table. Her response was "How old is that menu?" (meaning the one online, which I'd think was recent as it was on the 2022 restaurant week website). So strike one. I ended up ordering the Old Fashioned Maryland Crab Soup and some rib tips, plus a side of green beans. The soup was ok, I mostly used it to stay warm, which was hard because the serving was so small and hard to hold. The rib tips were sautéed and on a bed of rice, onions, and green peppers. Everything BUT the rib tips on that plate was good. The meat, which I'd asked for medium rare, was over cooked and under seasoned. I had to salt everything and douse it with A1. The green beans were in a small dish on their own, which is fortunate because they didn't taste good AT ALL and I didn't want them rubbing up against the rice and veggies which were actually decent. Not sure why this place is $$$. I wouldn't pay regular price. I gave 2 stars for good service. Dassit.

T-bone steak and sautéed tenderloin tips

10/24/2021, my wife and I dropped by this place on our way home. We ordered a medium rare T-bone and well-done a sautéed tenderloin tips. The T-bone steak came with two sides and the Tenderloins came with one side. Before the meals came, the waiter brought a basket of bread. The bread was pretty good! The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. T-bone steak with string beans and fries $40: I asked for rare, and the steak came out rare! The seasoning was spot on! The fries were great! The string beans was just not to my taste... 4.9/5.0 and the string bean is the only flaw! Well-done sautéed tenderloin tips with pickled beets on a bed of rice $27: my wife thought the rice was super delicious! The bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms were great complements! Even though the dish was well-done, the tenderloins were still very juicy! My wife couldn't stop gushing over the dish! She rated the dish 4.9/5.0. I think the only slight imperfection she mentioned was a touch of oil too much. But great dish nonetheless! I gave the dish a 4.6-4.7ish because I didn't like well-done tenderloins. I also didn't like the beets. Service: attentive and very hospitable! My wife and I will definitely come back even though the drive is 45minutes away!

Most of our restaurant week menu as take out

Being Baltimore Restaurant week this week, hubby and I decided to go have a treat to celebrate me passing one of my licensing exams. FYI, they are only doing take-out, but you can get take out for the restaurant week menu The entrees alone were the redeeming factor of this place and the only reason the restaurant week deal was remotely worth it. The prime rib was absolutely gigantic and well cooked - was still medium rare even for take out (and we had to drive back to Columbia from Baltimore). We also got the pork chop with imperial crab and definitely one of the top pork chops I've had! It was pretty juicy and tender even with take-out. And the imperial crab was amazing! It was basically a giant crab cake - full of nice chunks of lump crab meat with minimal filler! Perfection. The stuffed mushroom caps with imperial crab - let me say we got 3 tiny button mushrooms and they were covered in a giant crabcake once again! So worth! The only issue I had were with the sides that came with the entrees - the baked potato was good (can't really mess that up too much), but we also got the greek style green beans and brussel sprouts and they were just ...not good (to put it kindly). Both veggies were steamed and I'm just not a fan of steamed green beans and brussels- they just become soggy. The brussel sprouts also weren't seasonsed at all (like no salt, nothing), my least favorite kind of brussel sprouts and the green beans just tasted like mushy canned green beans in some kind of tomato sauce that also wasn't good. The dirty chesapeake (mix of cream of crab and maryland grab) was also really bad. It honestly tasted like ...bland chicken noodle - I didn't get any kind of crab flavor or chunks. Not even any old bay kind of taste. It was really bland and not great. Cheesecake and baklava were decent for dessert. The meat and the crab were the highlights of this meal! And the only reason i'd say okay, maybe worth the $40 restaurant week price. TL;DR - for restaurant week menu, get prime rib, and anything with imperial crab.

Restaurant Week New York Strip with Crab Imperial and Brussels Sprouts.

Restaurant Week 2022 is upon us, and my wife and I were looking for the usual suspects where we can get great value for what we were paying; we stumbled upon Michael's. Upon entering, it was as if my wife and I went into a time machine as the place looked like it was a step back in time; I even had to make a call for a reservation. We had made our selections for Restaurant Week, including a Chesapeake Dirty for my wife and a House Salad for myself. Our server looked like she had been at the same place since it opened, so we knew we were in for a real treat. However, the server brought two cups of Dirty to our table, and I told her that I had the salad, and she said you keep that, and I'll bring your salad. Both of us got the 1 lb NY strip with the imperial, and we can't say that we were disappointed, the imperial was super meaty, and the steak was cooked right. I had the steak fries, which were not overwhelming and quite tasty, and the brussels sprouts; well, they are like the one's mom used to feed you and not the ones served now. For dessert, I thought I was going to get something unique as a baklava sundae; it is not; it is baklava with a la mode, but it still did the trick. The atmosphere is very familial; the bartenders get to know their regulars and know exactly what they want. They also take pride in Baltimore sports, as over half the conversation was dedicated to O's baseball. My take, come for Restaurant Week, you're paying for just the steak topped with the imperial every other food item is a nice extra; outside of RW, get the Imperial, which is worth the extra few dollars.

A hidden gem ! Amazing seafood for a great price. Staff is friendly, Covid safe (had to wear masks & contact tracing was implemented; had to sign in). Reservations were easy to make also, I was running late and they gave me a 20 min grace period. Just make sure you call. Will definitely be coming back here again. 5 stars for food , gave 4 stars because the inside decor was outdated but had that old school Baltimore 90s charm.

    Soupy Cesar salad
    Trina B.

Took my mom here for her Birthday. Friendly staff. Now onto the food. My mom ordered a Cesar salad. The salad had too much dressing on it and they give you a side of the dressing as well, why not bring the salad out without the dressing, salad was drenched with dressing(soupy).I got the steak stuffed with crabmeat topped with imperial sauce and my mom got the tilapia stuffed with crabmeat topped with imperial sauce. The main course came out hot the way food temperature should be. Everything was pretty good except the soupy salad.

Completely blown away by how great everything was!!! My friend and I picked her for a girls night out dinner. And we picked a winner. They have a spacious parking lot. The inside is very rustic and very welcoming. The server was excellent and helpful with recommendations. They have weeknight specials. We got complimentary bread! The filet was a nice chunk of perfectly cooked meat to medium rare! The crab cake was incredible. Nice side salad and baked potato. Everything served hot. And the baklava was made in-house. Delicious!!!

The Eastern Shore Crab Cake was large and perfect. Nicely prepared. The zucchini that came with it was also done well and not overly seasoned. The potato salad was a surprise. I've been giving out a lot of 5 stars recently, but this is a place that really deserves it. It's a must visit. It'd been many moons since I had escargot, so I got it. Despite one cooked snail being basically impossible to scrape out and my fine motor dexterity isn't great, it was delightful. My wife loved her seafood stew. Our shared side of the grilled Zucchini (definitely enough to share) was also a highlight. We've been raving about our fried clam sandwich and lobster roll since. Both were amazing; my wife said it was the best lobster roll she's had (we've never been to maine or anywhere known for lobster). The dessert passion fruit pie was a great way to end, also shared, but the crust was a little too thick and the dollop on top did kind of over power the curd. The birthday sprinkles (it wasnt either of our birthdays) were cute. We will be back. Especially to try the raw bar (We're pregnant and didnt want to risk it).
