On the way back from Virginia to NY we decided to stop at this restaurant. It was first introduced by Hubby's friend and the two of them stopped to eat here before and asked me to try the place so bad. Our waitress, Katelyn, was super nice and professional. She recommended the Greek salad to me and I loved it! I also had shrimp stuffed lump crab meat and this was fantastic! The crab meat was so delicious, sweet and very meaty. I couldn't finish it all but worth taking home the leftover and ate the next day. I purposely wanted to spread out to two days! Hubby had a crab cake and that was delicious too. This is a real crab place! The crab meat is soooooo good here. They nailed it! We would love to come back to the restaurant when we're in a road trip again. Excellent service and food. This place was extremely clean and quite honestly the staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. Yet I know u all want to know about the food. Well, they give you lots of food 4 your buck. I ordered a crab cake BLT and my man ordered a small cheesesteak and it was a lot. I thought although my crabcake was extremely fresh and well prepared it lacked seasoning and so did the cheesesteak in my opinion. Although I did not take a picture of the wings, they were delicious. I have always enjoyed their food. I do have to take exception, though, with all the rave reviews on their crab cakes. Maybe they have gotten better since I last ventured down that road, but I found them to be too full of greasy bread chunks. Yes, they are BIG, but I would rather eat a smaller crab cake filled with (even smaller) crab lumps than a huge old bay flavored crab & bread ball. So I got back to my quest for the best Italian cold cut & pizza in Maryland. So I've always heard about this delicious crab cake that Box Hill Pizzeria has to offer. So I elected to try them out. It's a nice little ways from Baltimore bout 30/40 minutes up 95 to bel air. The place is easy to find & actually it stands out in the little shopping center. The setting is nice has a little outdoor dining space in case you don't want to be inside on a nice days. They offer you the option of carry out or dine in. Only issue the dine in area is pretty small but we still decided to dine in. So now to the food let me say this the pizza was amazing!!!! Nice hot greasy cheesy masterpiece. Which comes in 3 options: by the slice for $2.50 of personal pan for $12 & a large pizza for $15. It is definitely worth the ride & I'll be back very soon for another one. Secondly I had the Italian cold cut & chips. It wasn't as good as the pizza or crab cake but it wasn't the worse one I've had. It wasn't bad but it didn't wow my taste buds like the pizza & crab cakes. But the highlight of the place is definitely the crab cake. I grabbed the broiled seafood platter for the Mrs. to go & man when I say it's a deal you've gotta try. For $32 you get a crab cake, side, shrimp, & stuffed shrimp. So you get to sample their famous crab cake with a few other things at once. The only thing stopped me from giving them 5 was unfortunately our original waitress was very slow & messed the orders up but once she finished our second waitress was amazing. On my way to New Jersey from Maryland we need to find a pit stop to grab food and rest. This place did the job. They're known for their pizza and crab cakes. Service is pretty friendly, Food is decent. Nothing to write home about, but it definitely does the trick if you happen to be in the area and you enjoy crab cakes and pizza. The restaurant has plenty of parking in the plaza. I order the crab cake special which come with fries, cold slaw, garlic bread. The crab cake was delicious, yummy. We've been visiting Box Hill for a few years now. The Crabcakes (broiled!) are some of the best I've had. Seasoned perfectly with just about all jumbo lump crab. The pizza is also excellent. Sort of in-between thin crust and pan but closer to pan. You won't find this style of pizza anywhere else in the area. Their Cheesesteak is also excellent as well Greek Salad! We asked for the crab cake sandwich that we seen on TikTok and the young lady at the register explained that the young man just simply put two crab cakes together to make this humongous sized sandwich. Delicious crab cakes! Loved the ambience here too, we were a party of 16 and they got us all in easily. I love that the drinks are self serve too. The crab cakes are massive and delicious, albeit a bit pricey but worth it. Huge chunks of crab in each one- I brought one home and made 2 sandwiches out of it! Just tried Box Hill for the second time. On my first visit I was a bit disappointed but since I had heard so many great things about the crab cakes, I figured that I had gotten a bad batch. Unfortunately my second time around was more of the same. I placed an order for carry out and it was ready right on time. As I entered the restaurant, I was immediately greeted and my food was handed to me. I decided to order a broiled crab cake and the rockfish tenders. I didn't feel like the crab cake held together really well and to me it just lacked flavor. There were definitely lumps of crab meat present but that didn't help because ultimately when it comes to food, taste matters. On the flip side, I did really enjoy the rockfish strips. I thought they were fried really well and had good flavor to them. I feel like this spot probably produces some really good food but for me the crab cake is just a miss. I wouldn't discourage anyone from coming here because I thought the employees were extremely nice and the restaurant was definitely clean. I just can't agree with all the positive reviews about the crab cakes. I think it's worth a visit but just try something different off the menu. read more
