Had a bearing go bad on a road trip. We pulled in at about 3pm for diagnosis. Box K squeezed us into a busy schedule, found the problem, and gave us the bad news that we'd need to leave the car overnight. They volunteered to help us find a hotel, and gave us a ride to our hotel. Even gave restaurant recommendations! The next morning, they got the work done quickly, and picked us up at our hotel. I was recently in Long Beach on vacation. My car started making familiar noises like the other time the CV joint had gone bad. I called the nearest dealer in Warrenton, and was told that they couldn't get me in for two weeks. I called Box K which was 1.1 miles from where I was staying, and they had me bring it in, gave me a "not to exceed" estimate, which I agreed to, and they said if it was going to be more than that, they would call me first. They kept in touch with me, got the car fixed that day, and it turned out to be less than their estimate, and $100 less than the dealership had quoted me. They also washed my car and vacuumed it before I picked it up, and they gave me a two year warranty - that I can have honored back home if necessary!! These guys are the best!! Honest, efficient, excellent communicators - I want them to relocate to my home town!!!! read more

TOURISTS BEWARE!!!!!!!! I am not one to ever complain and this is the first time I have ever felt like I need to let others know. We were down visiting friends for the weekend and my son's car clutch finally gave out while driving on the beach. It was ready to go for the last month. I called several local shops to get estimates and Doug was the only one that called me back ( hence the one star). They would not give me a quote over the phone and said that I would have to have it towed to the shop(even when I asked for a quote for a clutch in a year specific car). I felt as if he knew he had me between a rock and a hard place. Doug gave me one towing company recommendation. So I paid to have the car towed to his shop- which was very reasonable by the way. Doug then gave me a quote of over $1000. Knowing at the time that it should cost half that price; based on the 3 quotes that I got-- OVER THE PHONE-- at home ranging between $500-$600, I asked him if there was any way that he could sharpen his pencil and that I dont mind paying even a few hundred dollars more to keep the business local. He did and come back at $60 less due to cheaper parts that he would not warranty. So I drove all the way back to Long Beach. THEN DOUG CHARGED ME $100 FOR THE ESTIMATE!!! He NEVER mentioned anything about charging me anything for an estimate. I gave him all the money I had in my wallet and he gave me back my sons car- but now the car had a dead battery and a broken molding sitting on the floor of the drivers seat. They saw me coming from 200 miles away.... The whole ordeal makes me sick to my stomach. Never have I seen business done this way! Again, I'm not one to write anything bad, but I smelled scam from the moment he called me back. read more

Recently we spent a work week at our cabin on the Long Beach Peninsula. On the way home our pickup transmission stopped working. We pulled over and my husband checked it out to the best of his ability. Transmissions are very specific. While my husband is an experienced mechanic and prior to his retirement he worked on airplanes, hot rods and large utility trucks we had no diagnostic equipment, no specific tools and no place to work. Thankfully we were close to Box K Auto Repair Inc of Seaview, WA. Initially my husband spoke with Millie. He was impressed with her knowledge. Then Dan took the time to check out our transmission with his tester alongside the road. Nothing registered. Dan said that he would try to get us a diagnosis by 2:00pm that day. We were stranded with no way to get back to our cabin. I am recovering from surgery and have limited ability to walk any distance. So Box K offered us one of their vehicles as a loner. That allowed us to return to our cabin and to get lunch. Promptly at 2:00pm Dan called and told us that he had located the problem. It required a part that was located in Portland, OR. However, Dan could get it sent out over night and he would repair our transmission the following day. Good to his word the truck was repaired by 1:30 pm the next day. Dan had worked thru his lunch to make sure that we could get on the road as soon as possible. When I thanked him for the extra effort he shrugged it off saying that he did it all the time. We left town shortly thereafter in the middle of a wind/rain storm. In 5 hours of driving thru terrible weather conditions the transmission worked perfectly. Both Millie and Dan were professional, courteous and provided exceptional service. We have given them a 5 star rating but if it was available would we would have given them a 10.
