Great beer and hot sandwich selection. Had the hot roast beef and my husband had the Reuben. Delicious. French fries were good, thick cut like 5 guys with a little skin left on a few. The Voodoo Love Child on tap was so good. Had a citrus kick to it. It was packed. Apparently THE place to go in Huntingdon, especially for the college kids. read more

I've stopped here a few times to grab a quick bite to eat and can't get too excited. The tables are crammed so tightly together its almost uncomfortable to sit and eat when its busy. Food is okay and they have 3 or 4 draft beers on tap. Very average place all in all, but since they don't have any competition it gets ranked higher. read more

The best local place you will find. Craft Beer, Killer fries (fresh cut & waffle), and many delicious options to eat including vegetarian & vegan. Many of which are locally sourced. Stick around for desert because they are all homemade and to die for!!!! If you come on a Tuesday stick around for their Wing Night!!! They make awesome wings starting at 7:30 but beware they can be busy. My husband and I ordered food to go. There wasn't a single item that we ordered I would suggest ordering. The bleu burger was so bad I tried to give it to my dog and he wouldn't eat it. My husband ordered a sandwich with turkey on it (we can't remember the name) all I can say is don't order it! The onion rings were big but not the best. Looks like the best place in town. We just took the Princess Cruiser for an afternoon 2 for 1 on Tues during the summer. Very nice way of seeing the Raystown lake area but afterward we looked for a place to do happy hour. We checked out the marina and were disappointed not to find food so we headed to Huntingdon and found a great little place called Boxers Cafe. Had a nice Lake Erie Monster Craft beer. Cream of Sweet Potato Soup was terrific, then we ordered large fries with old bay seasoning and blue cheese dressing and hardy nachos with refried beans, guc, peppers and salsa. Dear God, somebody needs to call John Taffer like NOW!! very poor quality food for the burger, and fried clams. Server had an "I don't give 2 shits" attitude... there's not too much to say about this place... best part was the out of town guy we sat beside who was very social n kept us entertained. This place was a little too crowded to be comfortable, I mean, take out a table or two so you're not knocking elbows and seatbacks every few minutes. I had a roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce. Not bad, had to ask for more sauce because it was a bit dry. My wife had a burger which she originally rated a 2 out of 5, but once we left, we needed to make a run to Sheetz so she could get the taste out of her mouth. Would NOT go back. read more

I have been here twice since I began attending Juniata. The first time I got fish and chips which were very decent and the second time I got the burger which was just as impressive. The beer menu was fantastic as well. I'd highly recommend a visit to Boxers to anyone passing through Huntingdon. read more

Boxer's is truly a gem in the middle of nowhere. Not many places in Huntingdon County are able to be as special and unique as Boxers and continue to have a devout following from the college students, lake tourists and locals alike. Their food is pretty basic, but uses fresh local ingredients and has many vegetarian options. The beer is plentiful and they do a great job of switching the on tap selection while keeping the standard Guinness always on tap. They also have a good sized bottle/can import-microbrew etc in the cooler readily available. The aura of this place is also great, it is the closest thing to a pub around, the décor is really old and friendly and you will never experience any negativity in here. Occasionally there is live music, but it can cause the place to get really cramped as size is a huge factor. Tuesday nights after 6:30 I believe is wing nights and you MUST get there early. It's all they serve Tuesday nights, but you will not be disappointed. Best wings in town. So enough said, stop in and enjoy. read more

There are no boxers running around, much to our dismay, but the food is good. The shrimp basket is out of this world.

Arrived at Boxer's post-hike: came hungry, left happy! The ambiance charmed us immediately as we chose a seat in the window. This was clearly "the place" to be on a Saturday night in Huntingdon: tables were full up, and filled immediately after each turnover - a great sign. Our friendly server brought water promptly; great selection of beers on tap for excellent prices. The menu was truly impressive, for so many reasons. First and foremost: they focus on local and organic ingredients where possible. Second, the prices are more than reasonable. Third: SO MANY VEGGIE OPTIONS!! Seriously, I was astounded. A family seated at the table across from us noticed our glee (and indecision) with the extensive menu, and assured us that we "can't go wrong" - clearly regulars, they had multiple recommendations for us (and they were not even vegetarian, a ringing endorsement in my books!) We decided to start with "Phil's" jalapeno poppers as a snack with our beer, then we went with sandwiches for dinner. I ordered the veggie melt, while my partner chose the "Bleu Cheese Delight". The poppers came quickly and appeared to be homemade; nice crispy crust but the cheese seemed to be of the processed variety. Decent, but wouldn't order it again. Next up, the sandwiches: both were served "open face" style. My veggie melt consisted of two slices of pumpernickel bread piled high with strips of green peppers, red onion, perfect bites of cauliflower and broccoli, and wee orange cherry tomatoes. The veggies were broiled to the ideal tender-crisp texture, with the cherry tomatoes being hot and soft but not yet bursting. This bed of veggies was covered over with mozzarella cheese (not too much, not too little - just right) and broiled to a golden brown. I also requested the "seasoning" option, which appeared to be some sort of powdered herb/spice blend sprinkled on top (not spice, just flavour). The portions were quite generous - my partner's Bleu Cheese Delight was an astounding mountain of finely shredded cabbage, carrot, and broccoli (again, perfectly broiled) atop two pieces of pumpernickel, covered over with a blanket of provolone and a bleu cheese dressing. This was just as delicious as my own order, and both were beautiful rainbows of colour. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed - great vibe, great food, great service. Will definitely stop in again, and encourage you to do the same (fellow hikers take note: this place is excellently located as a stop along the way to many parks and excellent trails!) read more

Come up to this area fishing every year. Usually eat at Main Street Cafe in Alexandria. Turns out they've been shut down by the Board of Health due to major violations! Yikes. Have eaten there for years with no problems. Anyway, Boxer's was pretty well rated on Yelp so my buddy and I gave it a shot. Glad we did. Excellent selection of beers on draft. Food is nothing fancy but well prepared and tasty. The house salad was full of great variety of lettuces, lots of other veggies, and homemade dressing. Quesadillas were excellent. Hand cut fries were outstanding. Top notch service as well. We'll be back. read more

We recently ate dinner at Boxer's and we are fan's! It is a small, casual, unpretentious bar/restaurant with a pub menu and a rotating selection of local/regional/national beers on tap and in bottles. We started with beers which included a root beer, a Weyerbacher AutumnFest and a Dogfish Head 90 Minute - all were good. For dinner we shared a regular sized dish of fries (cheese on the side!) and had a Bacon Cheese-burger, cajun fish sandwich and a fried fish sandwich - all the food was tasty and good. There were 3 pies available or dessert, but we passed. It is a small place and gets filled-up quickly. The service was fast and freindly. Overall we found Boxer's to be a great value for dinner. read more

Went here after bike riding this past Thursday evening, encouraged by the good reviews. Unfortunately, didn't have a good experience. It was a busy but still a free table here or there. Waited for a table to be cleaned off and sat down. Then I waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally a woman came over and asked if she could get me something to drink. I noticed in other reviews that they have a few craft beers so I asked if they had a beer list. No, was the response. Could she recommend anything? No, with a shrug of the shoulders and she pointed over at the beer fridge but I couldn't see what was in it.. She was becoming impatient so I just ordered a beer on tap. No smile, no you're welcome, no can I get anything else. Very surly service. Another couple next to us had been waiting for awhile for their food. When they inquired, the waitress just shrugged her shoulders and said, it's a busy night. I had a chicken quesadilla which was tasty and the salsa was excellent so I can't say don't ever try this place, just come for the food not for the service. read more

We tried Boxer's Cafe after attending a conference at Juniata College. It turned out that it was "Wing Night". We were told by our server that that was the only food available for the night. We weren't in the mood for wings but we figured we'd try them since we both enjoy wings. After 45 minutes, our food still had not been delivered. When we inquired about it, we were told that the kitchen staff was overwhelmed and it would be a little longer. Our server never seemed bothered by this and barely apologized. We were offered a free bag of pretzels. We left after 1 hr. and 15 min. without our dinner. Furthermore, after speaking with other conference attendees we found out that they were offered dessert as soon as they walked in to Boxers, which was 15 min. after us. Again, we were told that chicken wings were the only food available that night. Poor service here, I do not recommend. read more

Don't go here on Tuesday night for wing night, I went in at 7:30 and it took an hour to get my wings, people that came in after me sat the bar and got there wings before me, the waitress said they only have one frier if there going to have a wing night they should maybe invest in a second one. Boxer's has let me down the last three times I have been there this summer. This place has been a family favorite for us over the years. Extremely disappointed with the service. Food comes out 30-40 mins after we have ordered. Tonight was my husband's birthday, so disappointed with our meal and how long it took to come out. I told the server it was my husband's birthday and she did nothing to make his experience special. Not even a Happy Birthday wish. The Rueben I ordered was awful. No Swiss cheese, hardly any dressing and the corn beef was extremely salty. The plate came out without garnish or even a pickle. Last month, our dinner took almost an hour to come out which made us late to a movie. No word from a manager or even an apology from the server. This is the first ever yelp review I have written which says a lot about how disappointed I am with this place. Get your act together Boxer's. Your service level is horrible and your servers are down right rude. We have been Dinning here since the mid 90's and never have had such horrible service and food. We gave you three chances this summer and this was the last one. read more

Hands down my favorite pub on Earth. It is tiny, and it gets REALLY busy on wing night, but it is entirely worth the wait.
