When the meal came the food was cold and 4 of us were served very over cooked entrees. 2 ordered medium rare salmon - it came out very well done and dried out. I ordered medium salmon - this too was dry and tasteless. I ate a little of it, then gave up. One ordered duck breast. To his surprise, the duck was dry and gummy. Stopped here on a Saturday night on a road trip to an undiscovered area in PA. Not a bad drive - it's crazy how places exist that you never know did. Seemed like an upscale place upon walking in - set in the downtown historic type district. There is street parking and a parking lot right next door so you shouldn't have any issues with that. They have a bar area, a seating area and then a larger seating area. We were sat in the large area and ordered a couple drinks. I went with the penne Alfredo with chicken which is something I maybe order once every few years - but this was good. I liked the flavor and the waitress - though at times aloof, was nice. I enjoyed this place but did not really enjoy the road to get there. Very windy and kind of long - but thats my own fault. However, this is a cute place and I really enjoyed my meal, the service, the options, and the decor. I was extremely hungry so I was thinking about eating one of everything on the menu but decided against it. We shared the bruschetta app and I would say this is how I believe it SHOULD be made as many places try their own hand at reinventing the wheel of Bruschetta. I was pleased to find you can add any protein to basically any plate of pasta. this helped me choose all my favorite things. I love a creamy white red blend sauce, thick pasta and touches of tomatoes and spinach - and the Rockefeller dish had just that. I could add scallops so it made it all the easier. My drink tasted better as it went down but I am pretty sure its what put me to sleep on the ride home. I was slightly upset at the limited dessert options. Nothing truly rang my bell but went with Strawberry pie. Place was not busy and our server was really nice and checked in frequently. read more

You can't get a cut of steak so fresh and flavorful anywhere in State College proper like you get here. Bartender friendly and heavy hand with the poor. Try the Vodka Martini! We used to eat here back when it was called Mimi's, our favorite restaurant when we were visiting family. Used to have cozy decor, a great martini menu and a wonderful menu, couldn't go wrong with anything. It has slowly been getting worse under its new name and new management unfortunately. Today we came for dinner and it just feels like corners are cut everywhere to save a buck. It was a bunch of little things that added up to a subpar experience. I ordered soup that was supposed to come with bread. The waitress forgot the bread (that's ok) but then she came out with the tiniest roll I've seen in my life, like a baby's fist (not even butter). What happened to the wonderful bread baskets we used to get? I'll admit that the crab bisque soup was really really good! Then my husband ordered scallops (they were just ok) and the sides were cold (like they were done 30 min ago cold and sat around). My poached pear salad was a great big size but came with 3 small slivers of pear. For a $9 salad called "poached pear", let's throw in a few more slices (it's not gonna break the bank). I've eaten at 312 several times when visiting Huntingdon, in its present iteration, under previous management, and when it was formerly the restaurant Mimi's. On a trip two months ago, I was (to be fair) underwhelmed and this time I heard many complaints from recent patrons that its service was unacceptably slow, that the food was overpriced and the menu too limited. I went, therefore, without much hope of being impressed. Instead, I had a good meal sharing a cheese board, taking their daily special (a creole-inspired shrimp dish), and accompanying it with a poached pear salad. To be fair, the cheese board underwhelmed with three small slices of a tasteless cheddar, a too-mild bleu, and a slightly better smoked Gouda. All tasted like supermarket cheeses and all were served too cold to allow the cheeses to bring out their full flavor. The presentation on a slate with mushrooms, standard crackers, and some jam was nice, but the experience would have been so much nicer, more interesting, and more nearly worth the price (or slightly higher) if 312 had sourced three cheeses from local or regional artisanal cheese makers to support local farmers and give the customer something different than could have been done cheaper, at home, using three nondescript cheeses from the supermarket. The daily special, on the other hand, was special - rich, buttery, with enough heat to be interesting and not enough to be offensive. Six or seven large, shelled shrimp was just enough and with warm rolls (which weren't initially included but were provided on request) to soak up the sauce the main course was memorable. The "starch" - macaroni and cheese was decent and tasty but an odd pairing with shrimp, and the vegetable medley seemed out of a freezer bag with a few herbs added. Neither added much but both supported the meal adequately if not innovatively. The star of the meal was the poached pear salad, with crumbled bleu cheese, romaine lettuce, and a white balsamic dressing on the side. The pears were said to be poached on site and were wonderful. If one were to recommend any improvements they would be to serve it in a larger bowl to make it easier to toss and coat the salad with the dressing and to diversify the greens - plain Romaine doesn't quite live up to the poached pears. Unlike what had been reported, our service was wonderful, even though we came on a night when new staff were being trained. This suggests that the new, expanded staff will address others' negative experiences. My only concern was that the regular menu's options are quite limited - especially when compared with Mimi's and the earlier 312's offerings. If it weren't for the special there wasn't much that was interesting enough on the menu to justify the prices in a location like Huntingdon and I'd assume that most local diners will come in, eat once, having found the one thing on the menu that interests them, and be slow to return as there's not much depth on the menu and no moderately priced options to encourage either return visits or spur-of-the-moment decisions to visit a "favorite bistro" to try something new. 312 exceeded my expectations and redeemed my previous experience but its limited menu makes me wonder whether my next visit will coincide with an interesting special or make me choose from a limited number of less enticing choices on the menu read more

My husband and I had our newborn with us and sat out front this evening. Our food was impeccable, the servers were so attentive and friendly, and the view was beautiful. The mangopolitan is my new favorite drink as well! I regrettably didn't even get a photo of our dessert, Tay's chocolate chip cookie, because we finished it before the thought even crossed my mind. I've been to this establishment twice when it was Mimi's and last night we decided to try it for our anniversary. I must first say, this is the best place in Huntingdon to get a higher end meal. It has an upgraded look since the change in ownership. We ended up getting the 8 ounce filet and a pork chop meals both of which were of average preparation. We were greeted by an announcement that they were out of several items on the menu. A trip to the restroom revealed a sticky floor that had my shoes making sounds the whole way back to my table. We've been to Bold, 10/09 Kitchen, Bedford Springs. As a comparison, the quality you get is not even close, especially with the most expensive price tag (almost double) we had a pleasant time and enjoyed ourselves. Just didn't feel the $ were justified. Parking is an issue today. No street parking available and the parking lot needs a sign and is in dire need of sprucing up. read more

An otherwise 5-star restaurant and martini bar in the middle of nowhere (in Huntingdon PA, not far from a huge state correctional facility). Upscale decor, wonderful ambience, generally good food, but sloppy service and lack of attention to detail. A restaurant of its calibre should know better. The New York strip steak was overcooked on the outside (rubbery) but undercooked in the inside (we ordered medium; it was practically raw). No steak knife. The knife they provided could not cut through the steak. The highlight is their very unique chocolate martini (see the picture). Their sesame crusted tuna appetizer was also good. French onion soup was fine, and their veal was good. The parfait dessert was good, but the name was confusing. It was basically ice cream sundae with walnuts. Not sure why they call it "parfait." There is caramel stain on their dessert menu. The waitress did not even care or pay attention to it. When we asked for a doggy bag, she brought out the box to our table. Initially we thought we had to do it ourselves right at the table, which would be unacceptable for such an upscale restaurant. She proceeded to box it for us. However, she should have taken my plate to the kitchen to do all this behind the scene, as a restaurant of this price range and calibre would do. They also did not clean up the table before the dessert. Quite sloppy. When introducing herself and taking orders, she appeared to be quite rushed, for no reason. We were the only couple in the room! Their toilet was clean and nicely decorated, but extremely cold for no reason. It's terrible especially on a cold winter night when the dining room was cozy and warm. read more

It was okay... Mimi's (the restaurant that used to hold this location) was definitely a better establishment! This place is just as expensive as Mimi's, if not more pricey, with less options and less quality. The "Alfredo" pasta was basically just a glorified Mac and cheese. I got it with chicken, which upped the price to almost $30 (which included no sides, salad, or even bread.) it was okay, but definitely not something I would call flavorful or something that was worth the price. A MUST if you are anywhere near Huntingdon! Gorgeous decor! Amazing food! Friendly staff AND locals! Let's start with the very small (but beautiful) sign in front of the building; narrow entryway to plenty of parking. Small foyer opens up into a very glamorous seating area heading through into the bar area and more seating. Think roaring twenties meets Paris. The owner Caroline greeted us, along with Paula the coolest bartender ever. She said "I'll be 70 soon and I hope I'm still slinging margaritas because that's what I love to do" we were told right away of what Chef had going on that evening; sampled the Shrimp Tempura with Asian Slaw & Cajun wings (wings are baked then fried). The menu was just extensive enough for an intimate place, and the cocktail list was 5+ stars. They were not fooling around. As we ate and drank, conversed with the locals and had a most wonderful experience. If you are looking for top notch ambience, elevated food & cocktails, this is hands down the best place you'll find in Huntingdon. The kindness of the staff really was the icing on the carrot cake . Oh - and every October Caroline(hope I'm spelling that right) decorates for Halloween. This year it was Star Wars theme. Super fun and creative! read more

We had reservations - the atmosphere is wonderful - staff knowledgeable - clean - the entire Menu is a la cart - so the value is a big no! I ordered the po boy - the shrimp is not fried it's basically sautéd with the lobster - and placed in the sub roll - and it is not stuffed it's barely there unlike any other po boy anywhere else ! The lobster Mac and cheese was horrible - basically dried over backed curly noodles with a very little cheese sauce and some lobster meat not even 2 Oz of lobster meat ! I was excited to try 312 after it's opening. We made a reservation and were seated and I could not believe it. The menu was so very small and they had no sandwiches. Back in the day Mimis had a great cheeseburger, brushetta, crab Mac and cheese, asparagus, etc. We were waiting for 2 other adults and 2 kids in the 10 year range. When they got there. We were told there was no kids menu. Nary a French frie. Although my husband and I ordered drinks we decided to leave and go someplace else. Made me sad for the old Mimis. I guess all this time after waiting for it to be renovated I thought the menu would be spruced up and have a few new things instead of taking things away. I had lots of good times at Mimis, but sadly after tonight I will never go back there. It used to be a bright spot in Huntingson County but no more for me. Sadly. I've dined at Three Twelve twice recently. Once for lunch and one time for brunch. Both were very good. The new ownership has updated the interior nicely, and the menu items are of better quality. They are now open for lunch and offer brunch items on Saturdays. For lunch, I had fish and chips - beer battered haddock with fresh cut fries. Everything was excellent. It was a generous portion and a good value on the menu for $10. For Saturday brunch, I had corned beef hash. This is unlike most corned beef hash - large pieces of corned beef, potatoes, peppers and onions. There was a poached egg on top, too. Very flavorful. Service varied in experience, but overall very good. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

I really wanted to like this place but I was disappointed. My wife and had a great time in Orbisonia at the East Broad Top railroad. We made reservations here for a nice dinner on our way home. We started with cocktails and they were delightful. We wanted mussels for an appetizer but they were out so I opted for some tortellini lobster soup and my wife got their take on Bruscheta. The soup was incredibly salty. I had a hard time eating it and probably should have sent it back. The toast with chopped tomatoes was just that, nothing special. Then I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. The veg of the day was a side or ceaser salad. We both chose ceaser salad but then the server came back and said they were out of romaine lettuce. Not sure why that would be the veg of the day when you don't have inventory? Back to the chicken cordon bleu. I've had this many times before at other places so I know what it should be. This was an overdone boneless chicken breast with a piece of ham lunch meat and some Swiss cheese melted over top. This would have been fine on a bun as a sandwich, but not as an entrée. All in all, the cocktails and service was very good but the food definitely does not warrent the high price. After a day of tailgating and football at PSU, we were dying for food and hydration! Mimi's happened to be along our route home. It appears to be a small little place until you walk inside and it's beautifully decorated with an expansive bar! However when you walk inside there is a sign to wait to be seated, but I'm not sure they can see you well in the location to know you're there to seat you, so after waiting for a bit we headed to the bar. I grabbed a drink and ordered their mushroom swiss burger. The service was fast and friendly. My food was ready fairly quick and it was delicious. The burger was done to a perfect medium well as I had requested. It comes with homemade chips that I loved, just like I've made with my family as a kid. The mushrooms on the burger were a little underdone, but still decent. As I was paying, there had been this couple sitting across from us that had been greeting most people as they walked in. I thought nothing of it until the gentleman said "Mimi, are you ready to go?" I had been sitting across from the owner the entire time! We are visiting from Chicago, and treated two locals and another visitor to dinner here on a Friday night. Service was good and food was great: halibut (with unusual applesauce/horseradish topping); shrimp scampi; prawns; and chicken cordon bleu. Side salads were good too.
