This time, RJ came to give an estimate for trimming the same street trees which needed pruning, several fruit trees, crape myrtles, and branches that were overhanging from a neighbor's yard. The work was scheduled for the next day in the afternoon and started on the very large oak tree. They returned the next day earlier and finished the rest of the work as I had a lot of trees. The crew that came to prune the trees were professional and careful. I needed three smallish trees cut down with stumps ground, and two more trees topped. Boyd's service was first rate. They promptly returned my call (unlike many other services) and scheduled an immediate estimator visit. Their estimator was knowledgeable and discussed various options with me. When I called a few days later to say I would like them to do the work, they scheduled it within a few days. This speed was unusual (compared to other companies) -- Boyd's explained that they prioritize residential jobs by reshuffling work on their long-term commercial pruning contracts. They did a good job, delivering what they'd promised, and cleaned up well. The only downside: they probably don't have the lowest price. But you're getting value: high quality work, fast service, and low risk (professionalism combined with good insurance). The crew that Michael Boyd sent to trim tree was made up of three of the hardest workers I have seen in a long time. They were on our property from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Therefore, I called them for an estimate, and they quickly responded by sending a gentleman out to our home to inspect the work that needed to be done and give me a quote. Very positive experience with Mike Boyd and his crew. They are true professionals at this. One day Mike gave me an estimate - a much better one that I got from another guy - and next day his crew of four people removed five cypresses and trimmed the palm in my back yard in the course of seven hours. They removed all the debris and left it squeaky clean; did not even damage the flower between the trees. This work is hard; you should watch them work to appreciate it. I had someone else trim my trees, however Mike's crew did a much better job and they came in at a reasonable price, they cleaned up after the job and everything looked great. I have used Cassidy for many projects and recommended him to many of my friends over the last 2 years. However, Out of all of the jobs I've given him, they have never been quite up to par. This time, though was the final time I'll ever use him. I hired him almost a year ago to pour a concrete slab but it has a huge dip in it that collects water every time it rains. For nearly a year Cassidy has promised to come fix it and put a drain in but so far it still is not done and the concrete is still collecting water. But in spite of that (my bad) I hired him to pour another slab inside the house to fill in a cove area. Turns out, he poured it too high and now, instead of a step down that I was trying to get rid of, I have a step up. During that same job, he was hired to remove the existing flooring tile to prepare for new flooring. After removing the first tiles, he discovers there are more tiles underneath. He decided to ask for more money since it was more work to get the additional tiles up, which I agreed to and paid him. But he left the job with glue and tile pieces and wood all over the floor. Far from finished and didn't clean up anything. There was dirt and dust EVERYWHERE and I had to pay someone else to come in and fix BOTH of the jobs I paid him to do. He refused to discuss it or take any responsibility for his crap work and blamed it all on me. Very difficult to deal with because he just didn't think he did anything wrong. After 2 years of working with him and referring him to friends and family and this is the thanks I get for the THOUSANDS of $$ I have spent with him. Sad. read more

I came out of my house to get my car and the brilliant minds at Boyd's had completely covered it in wood chips. When I asked them What the F%$^ they said there wasn't much parking and they had no other choice. They blew the car off a bit with a blower but it didn't do much and I had to have the car cleaned. In addition to being unmaintained, the back of the house had a couple of dead/dying trees that were in danger of falling onto the house. In addition there were tall (and unmaintained) palm trees on the property as well. Mike gave me a very competitive quote to clean up the rotten deck and remove these trees. Removing trees is hard work and it's even harder if you don't have the right equipment. That's why Boyd's can finish a job quickly - they have the right equipment for the job. His team of 3 guys cleaned out all the trees, ground all the stumps, removed all the decking from my backyard in 3 days. That was impressively fast for the size of the property. They cut down 11 ugly cypress trees and ground down the stumps, removed a complete 35 foot hedge and trimmed another 40 foot long 10 foot high down to 7 feet hedge and thinned it out, cleaned and trimmed a 30 foot birch and shaped it beautifully and removed 3 large bushes. We had a large tree branch fall blocking the sidewalk and partially out in to the street. Gave them a call Friday morning around 9:00, Mike was at my house within a half hour with an estimate. We opted to trim the entire 50+ ft. pine rather than only the branch that broke. The crew showed up the same day around 12:30 and were done by 5:45. The guys worked hard and everything was cleaned by the end. They even cleaned up leaves that weren't even part of that tree and left them in a pile for pickup. We needed to have a beautiful large twisted juniper trimmed and the small dead branches cleaned out, the tall suckers trimmed off a lemon tree and a neighbor's tree trimmed off our house. Had a large 3' diameter 40'+ tall tree removed by Mike Boyd Tree Service. Estimate was very reasonable. Tree was overhanging our home and trunk was only a few inches from the outside wall. They brought the tree down safely with no damage to our property. They put down sheets of 1" plywood to protect our asphalt driveway from falling limbs. They did a great job of grinding the stump as close to the house as they dared. They hauled everything away and left our property as clean as when they arrived.
