I notice that he tries to steer you towards good, solid hardware that will give you a long service life, not something that is trendy but poorly constructed. Though Michael and his crew have done a lot of commercial work building restaurant kitchens and the like, I think his real specialty is working on remodels of kitchens and bathrooms in single family homes. I haven't seen a lot of that work, but what I have seen is A quality. I know he has done a lot of remodels throughout Marin County and in San Francisco. That Band-Aid fix was $150, in addition to the cost of the new water heater and having it installed a couple days later.
