First let me say Dr Kevin Brafman is wonderful. Office turnover is unbelievable. Billing is not right. Billed for services not done. I had to cancel a few appointments because my husband has Cancer and is dying. I've told them that. You don't know what life throws at you and what you have to do at the last minute. When I called today to cancel, I was told Dr Wendy marked my chart for discharge from this practice. I've been going here for years and seeing Dr Kevin. I have never even seen his wife. two of my neighbors have seen her and left the practice. The office manager told me I was lying. It's too bad because Dr Kevin is wonderful, but unfortunately his wife runs the practice. Hopefully neither of them will ever have to deal with a loved one who has Cancer. My experience at Brafman dental office was unsatisfactory in all aspects of my patient care. I will not go back there, and no, it is NOT difficult to find a good dentist in Sussex county Delaware, despite Dr. Brafman saying so in her responses to bad reviews. At my last visit, the dentist Dr. Ashley told me I urgently needed a crown and left the room without a discussion about details or potential options. The hygienist pressured me to "get this started right now" with xrays today. I said I needed time to prepare. I asked the secretary at check out how much a crown costs, and are payment plans available? She said $2,100-$2,500 and I should call to schedule the crown after I had saved up the money. The office then left multiple voice mails that I had a "treatment plan" and should call to schedule. I hoped to discuss my the plan at my upcoming routine appointment, but when my husband and I arrived together as we always do, the front desk staff told me they cancelled my appointment because they were "unable to reach me by phone" but could schedule me for any day that week because they had "many openings!" I chose not to schedule another appointment, and began my search for a new dentist. Brafman dental office then sent me many texts stating that unless I booked an appointment, they would drop me from the the practice, and don't call THEM if I have a dental emergency. I called the office and spoke with the staff member who fields patient concerns. She listened and said she would discuss my concerns with the "doctors" and that many patients have complained about the threatening tone of these texts. The next week I received the exact same text in a letter delivered via USPS!! My new dentist, hygienist, and front office staff are engaging and professional. I'm grateful for their excellent dental care here in Sussex County. My husband is a new patient there also! I wouldn't refer anyone to Brafman dental office. read more

Have been a patient for two years and recently during a storm I was unable to leave for an appouintment due to a flood and I called and canceled the appointment for a cleaning. Three days later I received a letter billing me $75 for a missed appointment. My appeal was ignored. Booked with a new dentist. This is a schlock outfit populated by stupid people. read more

Wasn't my cup of tea didn't feel comfortable there I transferred to Enhanced Dental. For me a dentist is a huge anxiety and I realized I needed something more one on one and didn't feel rushed. I also had a filling that I was told was fine repeatedly even though it hurt and it turned out the nerves were inflamed and I needed a root canal. New to the area so we tried them on a recommendation. Over 5 calls to the office and one month before someone got back to me to ask a few questions s abt my address and insurance and told me they'd call within a week or two to schedule. After 2 weeks I called and had to leave a message yet again. Seriously? Not sure if DE operates differently than NY but back home..this would be unheard of!! Update: Actually Wendy, the reviews and especially your responses from them is what changed my mind. I was willing to wait. But once I read the negative reviews and your comments to patients it was a HUGE red flag for me. I worked in the dental field for over 40 years. And have never read where a dentist takes time to respond (always on the defensive mind you) to a patient's comments. That screamed "beware" to me! Run! Do not use this dentist. I have had dentists for decades and never had a problem with them or their office staff. As you can see from the responses to people who complain, they do not take any responsibility for their dishonest ways. I have just been through a very frustrating two weeks trying to work out a bill that is from November 25, 2024. The first that I ever heard that I had a balance due was two weeks ago. Not from a bill that was sent to me, but a comment to my husband (who I regret encouraging to start seeing this dentist.) He came home from his appointment and told me I had a several hundred dollar balance. I was very confused as I haven't had cavities or significant dental work in many years. I contacted them immediately and was told that I had this balance. I spoke to Debbie who is very rude, and complained that she is busy. I contacted my insurance company who informed me that they cut a check for that visit and that I did, in fact owe $48. I pay my bills, so I left a message explaining that I spoke to the insurance company. I gave them the number to contact to have the check reissued if they did not in fact receive it, and to call me back if there was a problem with that. That was November 7 of 2025 nearly a year after date of service. I didn't hear a word. Imagine my shock when my husband tells me that he got a bill for several hundred dollars and a finance charge! He calls the office and they tell him, no that is not his bill, it's mine. My name is nowhere on this bill, and the finance charge says his name as the patient. Never have I ever received a medical or dental bill that did not have the patient's name and the date of service. How profoundly dishonest are these people! Mind you, they admit that they have never sent me a bill or contacted me about this problem. I reached out to them! I am now seeing red. How can you be charging me a finance charge for a bill you never contacted me about? I leave a message expressing how dishonest it was to send this bill implying he was the patient after you know I am disputing it. I speak to Tanya who is respectful, unlike Debbie. She respectfully disagrees that it would have been appropriate to let me know 11 months, 10 months, or even six months ago that there was a balance or a problem with my account. Mind you, I have been to the office a few times since this appointment. She also respectfully disagrees that it is inappropriate to send a bill that lists a different patient than the patient who received the services. So, I get the proof that my insurance cut the check. I leave a voicemail asking where to send the proof and the check for what I actually owe. Crickets. I finally got to the office two days later. I pay what I owe and ask for my records. There is a $20 fee to have them email my records. I wrote a negative review of this practice once before for a different issue, and was contacted and convinced to take it down. I was told that I misunderstood what happened. I always knew that I didn't misunderstand, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I will say that I was happy with Dr. Kevin and I'm sorry that I can't deal with his incompetent and nasty office staff. I look forward to the excuses that will be posted under this comment. Maybe take a look at the way you run your business instead. They tell me that they submitted the claim five times! Seems to me that I should have been contacted after the second time didn't work, so this could have been handled long ago. read more

I have been going to Brafman for a number of years. They are always accommodating. I love their text message Reminders. If I'm in a pinch, they can usually accommodate a change even with short notice. They like contacting me to see if I'd rather come to an appointment a week or two earlier, if they have an opening. My dental hygienist, Michelle, even got my gums looking so much better and I was borderline periodontal when Covid hit. I am always met with a wonderful welcome and it just seems like everybody loves working there because I always hear such pleasant conversations. I walked in looking to scope out an outstanding dental practice. However, while I know there are always two sides to every story, and the negative should never be the first assumption. I heard how your receptionist spoke to a patient today. I walked right back out. You didn't lose a customer or any money, but you did gain a horrible impression. There is professional conduct and then there is inexcusable conduct. A prettier smile can't buy you class, it seems. I feel empathy for the client of yours that was spoken too in such an abrasive and rude manner by your receptionist when only scheduling a next appointment. read more

I have only been to the office a few times and was about to get two dental implants for a total of over 6,000.00. I had some questions regarding the implants that I was going to ask on my next scheduled cleaning when I saw the dentist. When I got the confirmation text for my appointment it said 11:30 and I could swear I booked a 1:30 appt. When I called the office a few days before the appt, they confirmed it was 1:30pm. I showed up on the day of my appt at 1:30pm. The receptionist was totally rude and said that I missed my appt and that is was at 11:30am. I tried to explain that I called when I got my confirmation text and she didn't want to hear it and said to just call back in the morning and reschedule. I drove over 1 hour to get to this office. I called back the following morning and they gave me another appt for a week later. The same rude receptionist called me back 5 minutes later to tell me that Wendy Brafman said I have to pay a 75.00 missed appointment fee. I get it. I work in healthcare and missed appointments are missed revenue and missed opportunities for another patient to be seen. I am a radiology tech and had a patient in the room with me at work and said I cant get to my debit card at this moment, can I pay when I come in or can I call you back and pay when I am done with my patient. The answer was a a rude NO. I was told, I could pay now or they would cancel my appt. I told them to cancel it and hung up. This is the way you treat a patient that is about to spend a great deal of money on implants at your office? And to top it off, the whole missed appointment thing was a giant miscommunication by your office. I drove a hour to get there. I will be be damned if I spend money in an office who treated me like garbage. If you need 75.00 that bad, your office has a real issue and by the looks of all your reviews here and your responses, this mess is most likely a blessing for me telling me to go else where where I will get treated with the respect a patient deserves. You and your receptionist are totally unprofessional and rude. And the reason you have 80 patients waiting for appointments is because the area is short of dentists Believe me, you wouldn't be even a choice if there was competition in that area. read more

I want to share some positive feedback! I am tired of all the negativity in the world! Last year, in January, I fell and pushed my two front teeth in. Long story shortened is that Wendy Brafman saw me the next day...I called her in the afternoon on Monday and she saw me the next morning. She did a fabulous job patching me up, until I could see an endodontist. Two root canals later, I was back with Dr. Wendy Brafman, and she did a fabulous job preparing for crowns and when all was finished, I looked better than new! Patient interest not at all their concern as long as they make money. They are rude and Dr Wendy is just money minded . Please do not trust them. My husband and I have tried multiple times to make an appointment for dental care. Both of us stopped in person to inquire if they were taking new patients. I asked 2 wks ago and older lady at front desk said Yes they were accepting new patients and to leave my phone number. I asked if it was a long wait for getting an appointment and she said no not too long. So far after 2 wks for me they have never called to set an appointment. As for my husband it's been months waiting for them to call him to set appointment. I went in 2 wks ago just to see if they were taking new people. I was wondering cuz my husband is black and thought Maybe this is a problem for them. And that was why they never called. Who knows I'm not black but they have not called me either. This is horrible customer service so not interested in them anymore and I see here they have only one star so probably my good luck they don't want me or my husband as patients. They suck read more

Be aware that this practice charges patients $10 at each visit to cover the cost of PPE (apparently for the staff, since the patient doesn't get any thing other than the standard paper drape). And you will have to pay $20 to have the xrays (that you paid for) sent to a provider who is not someone in their circle. Any questions are answered with "it's our office policy". Office policy appears to be to run up the bill in every way they can. Office is also very disorganized- they could not find the paperwork I had already submitted, nor could they find the xrays that my prior dentist had sent them (free of charge!). They did find both things after I asked the staff to look again. It was apparently a "computer glitch". If you are looking for a dental practice that puts the patient first, this is not the one! read more

I wish I'd read these reviews before going. I agree with the money hungry review. The office is fine if your insurance will cover everything they require. My family of 5 went 6 months ago and it was alright - a little pushy on extra services I'm not sure were needed but overall fine experience. 3 of us had our visits this week without a problem, but my daughter was scheduled to go today for a cleaning and we had to cancel and now find a new dentist. She had her wisdom teeth removed last month and has already used up her insurance coverage for 2024, so the office let me know earlier this week it would be $204 for her cleaning. Today, they called insisting she needed xrays and it would now be $405. When I asked if xrays were really needed given the insurance situation, I was told they were required and they wouldn't clean her teeth unless I paid for xrays. I conferred with my husband and we decided we didn't want the xrays now so I had to cancel the appointment. I explained we'd need to find a new dentist and was told I'd be charged a duplication fee to get our records. I was so upset that they weren't willing to work with us in this situation and we're done with them. I won't give them another penny and will gladly pay a more reasonable dentist to do xrays if need be! read more

Find another dentist. We are a family of five and went to Brafman for over 10 years. We missed a couple of appointments and they would not schedule my sons again. They insisted on a same day appointment, if it was available suddenly. I really did not like their dental hygienist. I know they have a few and unfortunately I do not remember her name. I went for cleanings twice a year and I don't think my teeth are ever cleaned as well as the dentist at Peninsula Dental in Millsboro which is where we all go now. I was a patient of Mr. Brafman and went in with pain in one of my teeth. I asked him to look at another tooth, he said well you're not here for that tooth and give me very minimal information. My husband made an appointment in January, 2020, for March. Due to COVID, the appointment was cancelled. This is absolutely understandable. However, the next appointment scheduled was for both my husband and myself. It was cancelled again because of not being caught up from the cancellations for COVID. Both appointments were cancelled until September. WIthin two weeks of that appointment, it was cancelled AGAIN. They wanted to schedule both of my appointment for January, 2021. And, on top of all the cancellations, the last person who contacted me by phone was rude. My husband the office did not even have the courtesy to call to reschedule. Instead he received a text that his September appointment needed to be cancelled. Would not recommend trying to make an appointment with this office if you are a new patient. We have submitted a complaint to our dental insurance company who is looking into the problem. read more

I had a new patient appointment for routine cleaning just as the pandemic shut down occurred. It was scheduled well in advance, just after the first of the year. Of course the appointment was cancelled. I received a call to reschedule the appointment as the announcement was made that phase 1 reopening was allowed, and the revised appointment was scheduled for mid-June. A week before the appointment I received another call advising that they had to take care of rescheduled regular customers first. She suggested I could get an appointment by October! I said it sounds like you're not taking new patients, she said "yes I guess so". That is no way to treat a customer who was on your schedule since March. My records have been in the system since the original appointment was made in early 2020. Very poor communication and customer service. read more

My experience from making the appointment to meeting their wonderful staff was A+! I'm new to the area and was extremely happy to be seen by the hygienist Susan who did a fantastic job of taking X-rays and doing a cleaning. Dr. Wendy Brafman came in to look over my X-rays and was extremely professional and personable! Diane at the front desk who scheduled my next appointment was so friendly and courteous! 20 years I was a patient.and only complaint in dentist part is being lectured.other than that they where professional. now as for billing.I do have very good insurance.and they not me,they over billed my insurance.and expected the payment immediately.at a time when I could only make payments.that was the whole reason I have insurance.now because of this.they will only see me if I pay in full then I need submit payment to my insurance.this is what they told me,after telling them I was having severe pain in a tooth that THEY worked on.and would not see me to even see if it was something they did wrong.this is what happens when your bank account gets too big and too many patients.I have a very awesome dentist now. read more

These people are scam artists. They tell you that you have problems that you don't. They upsell everything. They REQUIRE you to get services that are not covered by insurance. If you don't get the services they require, they REFUSE to do basic services that your insurance does cover. read more
