Brakes felt a little funny on my VW and was informed by another brake place that my rear brakes needed repair and my fronts were at 40%. I didn't have time to do them that day and when I brought them back the shop was too busy. Brought them to Brake Masters And I told Kevin I wanted the rear brakes done and to check the front. He called me back 45 minutes later and told me the front brakes were excellent and the rears were at 60% and didn't need to be done yet. He also rotated the tires and didn't charge me a dime. This happened about a year ago and I have been going here since. Took my escape in last week and had a tune up oil change front brake job trans service and radiator flushed. Price was less than half of what the dealership charges. Only drawback to this shop is they have no appointments it's first come first serve and they are usually busy so it's best to drop off your car and pick it up later rather than wait for it. Kevin is an stand-up guy - Those hard/difficult jobs that stump other shops? HE fixed ours. Had purchased a used Chevy Sub that turned out was after-market electronic ignition wiring from hell. Diagnostics took a while, and when it was done we drove off happy. A few weeks later, the same problem returned, and Kevin took it in at no charge, continued diagnostics and fixed the problem. You could say "hey! They didn't fix it right the first time! " - In my experience with dealer shops with similar problems with Jeep, it aint easy even with non-modified wiring / computer systems. The big take away is HE STOOD BEHIND HIS WORK! He fixed it. He has always been very reasonable. Brakes too! Had new brakes put on, came back after a few weeks of LA driving with a slight wobble, Kevin personally turned the rotors and put different pads on - no charge, no fuss and fast. After reading the other reviews, I'm very surprised about my experience, but it is what it is. I went in to get my alignment done and they told me I that I needed the bushings replaced on my control arms or the alignment wouldn't last very long, etc. This seemed reasonable, but their price of $580 didn't. I also had them check an oil leak and they said that I needed a new oil pan gasket., also a reasonable response... but their price of $700 seemed insane. They told me that I might have a rear main seal leaking as well... and that my water pump was seeping and should be replaced. I decided to take my truck to a shop in Wildomar that I've used for years and they actually replaced the Control Arms (which includes the bushings of course) for $380. They told me they could have replaced the bushings for around $150, but that I'd be better of replacing the entire part if I could afford it, etc. I decided to get it done and not have to worry about it anymore. As far as the oil pan gasket goes, they offered to replace it for $200 as there was some labor involved, but couldn't understand why this place wanted $700, etc. As far as the rear main seal and the water pump goes, the shop in Wildomar told me they didn't see anything wrong, so not to worry. Anyway... all I can relate is my own experience, which wasn't a good one. This place really tried to take me on a ride, so you might want to check with another shop before you take their word for anything. read more

Today was the third time I have patronized this shop. The first time was a simple brake job, performed speedily and competently at a fair price. My second visit was the result of an episode at the local Toyota dealer, where I had been told that I needed new brakes. This was puzzling because I didn't have enough miles on my last set of pads to warrant replacing them so soon. I took my Tundra to Brake Masters and was told that I still had 30% remaining on the pads and didn't need new brakes by any stretch of the imagination. Many thousands of miles later, with a new set of tires installed, I dropped by Brake Masters again and asked them to check my brakes (they do this for free). It turned out that I was close to needing new pads so I told them to go ahead and do the job. I was also due for an oil change, and they were happy to do that also, using synthetic oil which I supplied myself. They did all this immediately, while I waited, the price was extremely reasonable, and they were quite pleasant to deal with. I'll be back. read more

This place is a rip off. They lie their asses off. We took our van in because of a grinding noise that can be heard from the front of the van. They claimed it was because of the brakes. Surprise surprise. They first claimed it was the front brakes but changed their mind when we told them that the front brakes were literally just done 24 hours prior. Then they claimed it was the back brakes and swore up and down it would fix the problem. I saw them for the lying jack asses that they were but my husband believed them and pay the $287. Of course that didn't fix the problem! I take it back to them and they claimed they looked at it and just noticed that there was something else that was wrong with the back brakes and they'll fix it for free. Fix what? Nothing was fucking wrong! I take it to another mechanic and it turns out it is the ball bearings in the front right tire, like I fucking told them. No refund of course. Please don't use these liars. They are worse than Pep Boys, and that's saying something! read more

I'm extremely picky as to who works on my vehicle's. This shop is straight up honest, trustworthy and most important the price. I brought my 3500 and they did some work on my brakes that came out better than expected. I did not have an appointment however I called and Kevin told me to bring it on down and drop it off and within 2 hours they were calling me to tell me it was ready. I was expecting a call telling me I was going to need this or that and it was going to cost me more. I didn't get a call like that. Very few shops out there are trustworthy, but this one is very trustworthy and I highly recommend them. Five stars to the management of this location. read more

Can't say enough good things about this business. They are fair and honest (something often in short supply these days) and friendly. The first time we went there, they quoted us a price, and when more parts were needed than they estimated, they provided the extra parts without charge. Unheard of! We were impressed so we took a newly-purchased used car to them because the seller told us it needed a brake job. Brake Masters took a look, said the brakes were fine and sent us on our way without charge. (I know of at least one shop in town where that wouldn't have happened.) Talk about EXCELLENT customer service! We took our car in for a brake job, they didn't have the parts, so they ordered them, we brought the car back, they took our car right in, and did the brakes. All is well until a couple of weeks later, when we heard a grinding sound. I automatically assumed that Brake Master did something wrong, right? Well...we took the car back in, they removed all 4 tires, and discovered that the brakes had GRAVEL in them. Due to NO fault of Brake Masters (more the fault of the county road dept in Idyllwild for NOT sweeping up the excess gravel from recent snowfall) anyhow, fully expecting to pay for the service of removing the tires, the gravel, and reassembling my car, I walked up to the counter, and they said, just be sure to think us of next time you need any of our services. WOW!!! I seriously thought that customer service went extinct ..how WRONG was I! This place has the BEST customer service ANYWHERE! I would highly recommend them! As you see on this website, Brakemasters gets a lot of 5 star ratings.....and a couple 1-stars. Read the 1-star ratings (with their foul language) and you'll probably understand why things didn't go well. I have three cars; 2007 Ford Edge, 2010 Mazda 3, and a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. They have done brake jobs on the Mazda and Hyundai, a four wheel alignment on the Mazda, and an oil change on the Edge, including pulled the wheels free of charge to inspect the brakes. What I really like about how these guys work, is they take you in the garage and show you exactly what they see. Their prices and quality are GREAT! Now, the downside....but it's worth working with these guys....they don't take appointments....probably because people don't keep appointments and they can't afford to waste time. It's first come/first served, so get their early or be prepared to wait/leave your car. That's because of the second thing: they are ALWAYS busy....which means a lot of people, including me, trust them for working on their cars. It's hard to find a good auto shop but these guys are honest and good. AND last, they will tell you if they CAN'T do something. I have a custom truck with very expensive wheels that I wanted to get an alignment. They told me that they could not do the alignment because the wheel calibrating device they use would not work on my style wheels without possibly scratching them. They did a great job on my daughter's Mazda alignment but those were stock/factory wheels....no issues. Just saying'....these guys do good work at fair prices. read more

I just got 4 new tires on my Toyota Highlander and needed an alignment. I went here and they showed me how badly this alignment needed to be done. I then asked if by any chance they could change 3 light bulbs on my car. Two of them are for the license plate and 1 in the front. By the way, I had gone to Gosch of Toyota for an oil change and they wanted to charge me $75 bucks to change all 3. They had said that they needed to take off the back panel on the car to get to the lights of the license plate and that is why it was very expensive. Any who, the guy at the brake shop said no problem and quoted me a much cheaper price to change them. When he saw that the panel didn't need to come off, he then charged me even less!!! Yes you read it right, LESS!! I was very surprised because allot of shops just want to rip you off. They really are an HONEST shop. Now my car is running in tip top shape and all lights are working now..Thanks brake masters for a great experience! read more
