This place would get negative fifty stars if I was able to rate them accordingly. NOTE TO ALL YELPERS! ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR GUT INSTINCT WHEN DECIDING TO GO TO A BUSINESS. I DIDN'T AND HAVE PAID THE PRICE! Took my old project caddy in several months ago cause the brakes were really bad. Apparently, and allegedly, they said they needed to replace everything, to the tune of almost $1,000. A little voice told me to not go forward but I did, since at the time it was my only vehicle and in all fairness, the brakes were hardly working. So, fast forward several more months, and the used Honda I just bought starting have a problem in that when I pressed the brake pedal, it would push down to the floor and have a real hard time stopping the car. It was actually dangerous and required me to use the E-brake to stop the car. So, STUPID ME, I took it back to brake masters. I get told by the guy at the front desk, a tall looking latino, that they diagnosed the problem and that I needed new shoes and pads, and machined rotor and drums, to the tune of $345.00 This guy's shtick is to small talk you to death, complement you, act like he's your best friend in the world, all the while he's grabbing the lube, which would explain the smirk on this face. Picked up the car, expecting my brakes to like, WORK, and lo and behold the exact problem that prompted me to take the car in was still present. These "Professionals" didn't even test drive the car before they gave it to me, and were aware of the severity of the problem and let me take the car in this condition! I guess as Brake Masters they're unaware that having brakes not work might be, I dunno, a little dangerous!!!!!!!!!!! So I took the car back and after the mechanic drives it around the parking lot (this is his idea of testing the brakes), I find out that these incompetents are telling me that it's the Master Cylinder now! You're BRAKE MASTERS for chrissakes, this is the only thing that you do, and it is a very limited, finite, and specific area of auto repair, and you can't diagnose the problem correctly the first time? HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELVES MASTERS? I'm sure I didn't even need shoes or pads, but they were of course the most expensive repair to do on the car, so why not??? It's establishments like these that make auto repair the nightmare that it is! And what's laughable is that this guy asked me if I wanted them to do the master Cylinder! Unreal. Yeah, sure, misdiagnose the problem, charge me to do repairs that likely weren't necessary, and when you finally figure out what the problem is, charge me to fix the problem again! The worst of the worst, do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake, and that is to avoid Brake Masters, unless you are a fan of overpaying, underserviced, and unreliable repair shops! GO SIX BLOCKS DOWN THE STREET TO RESEDA BRAKES AND MUFFLERS, where they really know what they're doing and want to do a good job! read more

I've been coming here for a couple years now. I usually get an oil change and ask them to put air in my tires if it needs it. Use the coupon that comes in the mail and if you don't get one in the mail go on their website and there's a coupon on there. I always have my guards up becomes I'm a girl and don't know much about cars. They've tried hustling more money out of me saying I need work on my car but I always say my brother or dad will fix it. I had a full synthetic oil change done in my car. It was done in a timely manner and not overpriced.

I knew I needed my front brakes changed on my 89 Olds; it has very low mileage so I knew the brake pads had not ever been replaced. I had a few extra bucks so I went ahead and went to my local Brake Masters because I had a coupon. Pluses: they took me without an appointment. They leveled with me about my rotors not needing to be replaced, even though they could have lied and said they did. They entire visit took less than two hours, so that was impressive - I fully expected that I would have had to leave the car and come back later. Best of all: the brake pads are on lifetime warranty for as long as I own the car - when I come back all I'll have to pay for is the labor. Also, they had told me that my rear drum brakes were in fine condition even though they could have lied about that as well. Minuses: Even with the coupon I still had to pay about $60 than I was expecting. Also, I would have thought they might have gone ahead and rotated the tires since all four wheels were off the car. I suppose that's my fault for not saying something, though. On balance, I'm not disappointed with my experience here. The sho itself was clean and well organized, so that indicates the owner is running a tight ship - always a plus. Since it's near my home I will probably be bringing my car back here. read more

I'm a little torn about this place. They do a great job and prices are reasonable. But it's somewhat inconsistent. When my wife takes any of our cars in, she gets at a much lower price than what I pay when I bring it in myself. For example, she takes her car without coupons for oil change and they give to her at coupon price. But when I brought in a coupon, they wouldn't take it because it's not accepted on weekends (but nowhere on the coupon it says that). But in fairness, my wife does both cars in most of the time so she knows the owner and the workers well. So I think that's why she gets the better treatment than me. I'm guessing that if I brought in the cars more, the experience would be the same for me. Overall, I do recommend since their work is good & price is honest (except the coupon confusion). read more

I used to go here years ago. So I decided to do business with them again last week. All I wanted was an oil change for my truck. The manger gave my keys to this heavy set guy, one of the "mechanics" to pull my truck in the shop. I saw the guy getting into my truck without putting any plastic on my seat or any floor cover on the mat. I told the manager about it, and he told the guy "hey, he wants you to over his seat with plastic" The heavy set guy came back and said that they don't have any covers. Then as he, the manager and I are all standing there, he started acting like a clown and telling the manager "we no do the oil change on our backs; we no need no cove. Ha ha ha" This was for me to hear, obviously. Then the manager told me that it is not required to cover anything. I wish I had told that guy that he should've been a comedian, instead of a mechanic. Take your own cover in with you, if you decide to go here. This place used to be managed a lot better. Now, it's in the hands of people who take NO pride in their work. read more

Avo was very helpful in getting my car fixed. I was rear ended in the area on June 9th and was referred to Brake Masters to fix my car. Avo explained everything and got my car fixed in 4 days. Took my car here on June 15th and got it back on June 18th. Payment and free was done through the person's insurance. Customer service is very important to me. My car looks brand new. I went because I had a coupon for an oil change for under $20. I 100% thought they would have excuses, add on fees like removing the bolt fee or even getting hands dirty fee. Believe it....they we VERY quick and took my coupon and.....unheard of....honored it. No "oh ....you have a leak" or "oil on the cap...you need to have us fix blown head gasket" I have had that last one MANY TIMES. But he answered my questions and I was more than confident on his knowledge of cars. So I brought it in and he solved my abs light issue and I got my car back in just a couple of hours! In one sentence - they ask you to do something that is totally uncessary. Don't get lured by their low labor promise. This Sat I drove my car to their place and do a regular check. After checking, the seemingly nice receptionist guy walked me through the car and told me that either of the brakes had 10% life remaining and I need to replace both. Of course they claimed life-time warranty and initially quoted me $550. With haggling, they dropped to $330. With suspicions, I asked them to put the tires back on and left. Without any doubt the reception guy with mustache turned so upset and cold. When I drove my car to a nearby Honda dealership, I spent $30 on brake inspection (Brake Masters did it free). Honda guy told me that my brakes are fine. Front brake is yellow status (middle-aged) and back brake is green status (full-life span). I had had my Honda serviced at the dealership twice before and I knew they are good. I just didn't expect Brake Masters act like scums and charge you something that is totally not necessary. Again, don't get attracted by their seemingly low-priced service promise. They will get their money back at other places! Try to avoid this place at all times. read more

Took my vehicle in on 9/30/19 to get new back brakes. He said it would take a couple hours. We came back in 2 hours and it wasn't ready. We left and came back 3 hours later. Still not done? Didn't feel good energy from the manager, Ben from the moment I walked into the office. Didn't understand why?? They finally finished, I paid $184 and left. On 10/3/19, when backing or driving down the street. back right wheel squealing and making another odd noise. Took my vehicle back and left it. Picked it up, no real good explanation for why it was making noise. Noticed my emergency brake was extremely loose! He had told me earlier that it would cost $300 to fix! Also, the brake noise was back! Took vehicle back for a 2nd time! Told Ben that my emergency brake was fine before I brought it in and that I wanted him to fix it and I wasn't paying a dime! Turned them into BBB! I ended up taking car to Tarzana BM where I was greeted warmly and car was fixed within an hour. Looks like Benny doesn't know how to fix brakes or that he deliberately left the wheel too tight. Please do not take your vehicle there! Worst place ever !!! Got my breaks done early this year and have gone back 4 times to get them changed again I truly believe they only changed them one time. Went back a 5th time they took my car I waited this time to make sure they would change my breaks they saw I wasn't leaving so they came up to me and said my warranty was up and had to pay !!! $90 life time warranty is crap and they either don't know what they are doing or they don't change your breaks at all. I just got a full synthetic oil change done. I had a coupon which came from brake masters website saying for 54.95 I get a full synthetic oil change and a 21 point inspection and a tire change. The coupon states that right below where it say how much its going to cost me. So I go there the manager who is a nice guy says it'll be done in 30-40 mins. once its all done like in 20 minutes right before I paid I asked him if they did the tire rotation and he says "you didn't ask me for that" then when I said "I didnt have to ask you cause the coupon states that its included" then he made a bunch of excuses saying "I don't know whats on the coupon , its not our coupon its a cooperate coupon" and on and on. come on dude.. you are the manager have some professionalism. read more

Brakes started squeaking after 2 months from getting "new rotors and pads" from these guys. Based on previous reviews, won't even bother on going back. They'll charge to "re-install and fix" the job they were suppose to do right in the first place and most likely won't do the job right again. read more

I loved this place and took few cars for mainly brake pads or brake rotors. After going there many times I realized the owner or the management is completely crook, I remember this one time a young couple complaining about having a perfect car but after visiting this location, that car started swerving to left or right, they eventually realized that they got caught so they fixed his car like it was when they first came in. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT is that I took my moms car for regular maintenance and the front tires were making noise at times, this guy after checking my moms car suggested a fixture for wheel bearing at $400, I said no problem I got it done, I left Los Angeles same week for work and my mom again started complaining about the noise so she took it to Toyota dealer and it turned out the $400 I paid went down in drain because these scum bags did not fix the bearing, so she paid around $500 at the dealer and finally got it fixed. If you have 1 car and you visit this location every other year, you might never find out that these guys want your money and they will F you up, I like brake masters, but not this location. Great Service, I took a chance on getting my brakes looked at on my Expedition. The manager was polite, honest and trustworthy. I went back for an oil change and asked them for a transmission service, they told me everything was fine and I didnt need the $160 dollar service. All the lights came out after I did tune up there so I went back many times but they still do not know how they can fix the problem of my car.
