Recently had my wife's van in for an oil change and brakes. Both are fine. My two issues are this: 1. Whoever worked on the car either smokes or vapes and stunk up the van. We've tried multiple things to get the smell out. 2. The valvoline oil change had a $30 off option, but you had to submit it online. I did this, in the store. Valvoline sent me an email saying there was insufficient info, so no refund. read more

I had an appointment for an estimate and I was on early to drop off my car, they had my car for 3 hours when I called them he said it was just another 15 for the estimate my car was done. My boyfriend had such a terrible experience here. He brought in his car for new brakes and they charged him $600, he then picks up the car and it still feels and sounds rough when he brakes. He calls and brings it back and they say, oh it's actually the control arm, and charge him $400 more. His car STILL sounded and felt like there was metal grinding every time he would brake. This was in the end of 2024. He's been working 7 days a week and has another vehicle so, he let it go for several months. Then he takes his car into the dealership for a recall, and they say he needs new brakes. He calls brake masters and says, you guaranteed these for 80K miles and it hasn't even been 6 months. They said the dealership was lying and they would have another look, which obviously why would he bring it in a THIRD time?? And guess what, it drives like a dream now that the dealership fixed them. I made an appointment at 10:30 for an oil change, they said it would be an hour and a half, which is a bit long. It has now been 3 hours and I am still waiting. Really used to like brakemasters but it looks like I'm going to need to find somewhere else to go. When I asked about how long it would be the man seemed annoyed. My name is Michael Haley. This is REVIEW is for Brake Masters #219 on 10221 Fairway Drive Roseville, CA 95678. I was vacationing in Rocklin California to celebrate my grandson's 3rd birthday. Before I left I had my front brakes done in Boise Idaho. So while visiting Rocklin my left front brake lost the nut holdong the calipers on my brake. It made so much noise I thought for sure the the brake pad was destroyed. I brought it to Brake Masters #219 and told them my story. The manager had one of his guys look at it and they discovered the bolt holding the Caliper on had come off with no damage to to the break pad. It took about an 1.5 hours to destermine the problem take some photos and REPLACE the BOLT holding the CALIPER in place. When I went to pay for the manager said put my card away and gave me the receipt. There was NO CHARGE. can you imagine the relief I had since I was on VACATION. Obviously they can'r do this ALL the time but the KINDNESS by the Manager and BRAKE MASTERS was way beyond normal. I have told my son and ALL of his friends to use this BRAKE MASTERS. This was my go-to place for oil changes and service until a recent event. The people who work here are friendly and from my experience, honest. I don't like being overly negative, so I'll just say don't go here for major repairs (pumps, alternators, axle, transmission, etc.). Today was my second service with them and I am impressed!! The first services I had was for my squeaking brake. I have not changed my brakepads for 3 years and went to Brake Master to have them changed. To my surprise I was told they are still fine, 7 in the front and 6 in the rear. They could have easily charged me for a services that I did not need given the circumstances I had with my brakes but they checked it for free plus I got an honest response from Nick, how rare is that now a days. Today I came there for my 90k oil change, the dealer would want to charge me close to $900 for an oil change plus some services that includes alot of "inspect, inspect, inspect, is it worth the money? Definitely no! Brakemaster did my oil change, full synthetic as I requested plus again to my surprise they even cleaned my engine bay. Dont get confused by their name that they only do breaks. My mom recommended this place for my brakes and I thought when I talked to the guy it would be a great place to get my car fixed. He said 280 to resurface my rotors but if i bought the brake pads he would put them on because he had to tear the car apart anyway! Day of service and I had to run around and get break pads from two different auto parts stores and then we get to the store and he tells me that we need new rotors for the front of the car. So we located some at the dealership which was a few miles or so from the shop. They didn't offer to pick them up or for us to buy the parts from them, so we head out on foot to the dealership not realizing that is way quite a distance and so half way there we had to call a Uber. The rotors cost us 300 plus... they completed the job or so we thought and after we left and came back home the car was doing the exact same thing when we hit the breaks! So we bring it back in and he tells me there is nothing wrong with my car!! WTF how do you say there is nothing wrong when the car feels like it's falling apart!! He says well the math is there. He goes into detail about the specs on the rotors so I say we'll should I replace the back ones then because they weren't don't last time and he said no they are better than the from! Um excuse me you mean the front ones you just replaced?? How is that so? He said well they could have been warped when you bought them and since you didn't buy them through us they aren't under warranty!! he never offered us to buy any parts Thru him and I had to go to multiple places and stress about finding the parts and paid 1000.00 for a job that wasn't done! I feel like he kept my new rotors and put the old ones back on the car! I should have asked for the old parts back so I could verify they didn't switch parts on me! So now I'm out 1,000 dollars for a job he said would be $280 and my car is getting worse everyday! I say If it sounds to good to be true then it is!!! read more

I had an oil change done at this location. When they finished my vehicle, they parked it in another parking lot away from the location. My windows were down and my car was unlocked. They did not inform me that my hood was not secured shut, and it flew up on the freeway and shattered my window. I called the store and they told me it's not their fault and repeatedly hung up in my face. They mentioned in the notes of my receipt that the hood was not secure, but never told me when I picked it up. Nick P. at the front desk has terrible customer service. When I had my brakes replaced they squeaked terribly. I took my BMW back and they said they replaced them and they still squeaked daily. They give you the cheapest pads possible and charge a LOT. When I was getting ready to leave they said I needed more work to a tune of $1000. I took my car to my service tech and he told me they were ripping me off. Terrible service and parts. read more

I've been to this place twice in the past 6 months. My first trip in I brought my small travel trailer to have my brakes replaced. They got it done the same day at a reasonable price. Nick was the service manager there providing great customer service. He communicated well and I got my trailer back when promised. Second visit. Took my Tacoma in because I was getting massive squealing in the front brakes. Nick was the service manager again and called me about 2 hours after I dropped it off. He let me know what they had found and what they needed to do to repair it. Ended up getting charged for one hour labor and it's like new again. My experience here has honestly been great. Nick and the people I've talked to here seem honest and good at what the do. I'm confident to recommend this place to family and friends. Tip- drop off your vehicle when they open. Place gets busy and I don't think they take appointments. Expect your vehicle there all day. read more

I had the best experience at this brake masters. I called ahead earlier in the day and told them my issues. They told me my car may need to hold my car over night... not a problem for me. Nick greeted me when i showed up with a warm invitation. I told him what was wrong and he gave me the options fair and square with no bull, in the most polite tone. I handed my car off to nick and told him let me know when it's done. He texted me in his own personal style with updates and how much it would cost, which i appreciated. Assistant manager is the reason for the one star review. He is rude and dismissive. Made an appointment on a Friday for 1:30 for a brake service. Dropped my car off, dude called me at 4:15 with the findings and recommendations. He said they would start it then. They closed at 5:30, didn't hear back so I drove to the location only to be met by the same dude. Right away he looked confused as to why I was there. I asked when my car would be done since the shop was now closed. He claims to have told me it would take more than a day to do the brake service. Not once did he say that, I wouldn't have shown up at 5:30. He became bothered when I kept questioning what the point of making an appointment was and why he couldn't tell me my car would be there overnight. He just kept saying "call me tomorrow I'll go over the paperwork with you" in such a bothered and dismissive way. I didn't bother to read the reviews for this location before showing up. I would've gone elsewhere. Luckily the following day I was in contact with the manager who does know how to deal with customers in an appropriate way. read more

I took my Toyota in for brakes, ready to spend $500+. Was greeted by Nick, who was super friendly and helpful. When they were finished, he told me they'd fully inspected tit, the brakes were fine. The only thing they found was 2 dirty air filters, which I had them replace. I walked out $42 lighter, instead of $500! They could have easily done the brakes and I wouldn't have batted an eye. Horrible and slow customer service. Walk in and if you are not the only one walking up to the counter -prepare to be waiting for a while. No one will acknowledge you or how long you wait. Not sure if they are short staffed or what the deal is but every time I would go for an oil change it was like this. Most recently was a trip for an oil change and a brake check. Very informative and knowledgeable staff, especially Mr. Porter (very classy joint, he addressed me with the proper honorifics every time). I went in for breakpad and rotar service and a general inspection. When he called me up with a long list of items I was dreading the findings because i was told by jiffy lube that I needed a 60k maintenance tune-up: i needed to flush my coolant and replace my sparkplugs and so on. But instead he told me all system is good! He ran through the checks and everything was in good shape. He even showed me the PH stris indicating all my fluides were clean. Sounded to good to be true so I asked him are you sure you are talking about my car and as friendly as can be he pulled up the manufacturer's recomendations from two different sources and showed me the maintenance schedule item by items. I have a real mechanic that inspected my vehicle to preform maintenance report this to me. My oil cap was broken and they over filled my oil by 1 extra quart. Never will I go to this place again. Nick, the manager is all about customer service. He listened to all of the concerns that I had and took the time to address them. Don and Cowboy took the extra time to make sure my front rotors were in great condition even though they didn't have to. They rock. This is an honest and trustworthy shop. I went to multiple places and was quoted 2 to 3 times the price. They told me that my rear rotors and brakes had plenty of life even though I was going to change both rotors and brake pads. DO NOT RISK THE SAFETY OF YOUR FAMILY OR EMPLOYEES SO DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE USING THIS BUSINESS! I scheduled an appointment online for 12:00 noon.I arrived prior to my appointment and was met by Courtney. I made it clear that I wanted my tires rotated per the coupon.She had me fill out the initial paperwork and I wrote down that I wanted the $29.95 Lube,oil and fiilter with "tire rotation" multi-point inspection and confirmed that I would have the fluids topped off and checked.I also got the brake flush. Courtney said it would be less than 2 hours so when I came back at 2:30 to pick up my vehicle and to pay for it I walked out to my vehicle and checked my front right tire because I marked it because it seems like nowadays no one wants to do their job properly and just as I expected my tires were not rotated and that was an extremely important to me. So I asked mechanic Dean why the tires were not rotated he got very short and agitated and stated that he did, I told him no because I marked the tires and they did not move then he requested my paperwork very abruptly and rude and looked at it in points to me where the paperwork that Courtney typed out said check tire pressure nothing about the multi-point inspection, tires rotated nothing so he got even more elevated and would not return my paperwork because he held it with a death grip. He said go talk to the girl inside and he went on about some rant it appeared they're having some kind of issues between the two but I was just the customer in the middle that waited two and a half hours with the scheduled lunch time. So I went in to talk to Courtney and apparently disturbed her from her comical YouTube Channel she was watching on her phone and laughing in the lobby. So I asked her why the tires were not rotated and I advised her again that I wrote it down and for whatever reason it was not put on the form that went to Dean the mechanic. Also while sitting in the waiting room I asked her once again if the tires were being rotated and if it fluids were going to be checked and topped off she said yes. I opened the hood and noticed that windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid was not checked or topped off, no safety inspection was performed and obviously the tires were not rotated and I'm not sure if auto shop still do this but there was no sticker in the window indicating when the next Oil Change was due. So I went back into the store asked Courtney why these things did not happen she was oblivious and she said she had no idea why so I was not very happy I will say. I asked her how long she's been working there for and she stated about 2 years. The next morning I drove back down to Roseville and was unfortunately met by the manager Nick and I basically told him all of the above and he laughed because I scheduled my online appointment at noon and he stated that his employees need to eat. He was not making any sense and I'm not saying this to be rude but he was basically sounded like a defense attorney and covering for his incompetent coworkers. I thought he would try to make things right but he was extremely rude and then he asked me how old I was in front of customers so I told him" well cancer ages you " so I assume he was making reference to my appearance so that was very hurtful especially being in front of the customers. I asked for corporate's phone number he said he did not have it so I left and said I would find corporate's phone number and deal with the sun my own. It'd be nice if someone so I can explain this a little more clearly. so thanks to the incompetent employees at Roseville Brake Masters they are going to be bashed far and wide with nothing but the facts of how incompetent this shop is. Absolutely terrible service. They tried to tell us our rear brakes needed to be done but they DID NOT, as confirmed by a different mechanic. Day 1: Got front brakes fixed at this location. They inspected back brakes and said they DID NOT need to be serviced. Day 2: Car begins making clanking sound, we return to Brake Masters to see what's wrong. They spin our back wheel, which makes a sound, and tell us that our back brakes need to be done. When we remind the manager that a day ago at this same location, they DID NOT need to be done, the manager says that he never said that, his assistant did, and shrugged it off. Day 3: After speaking with customer service & district manager, we are invited to go to a different location to get our back brakes done at a discounted price for the trouble. Instead, we went to a different mechanic and learned there was NOTHING wrong with the rear brakes and our car was no longer making the noise it did in the Brake Masters' shop. We nearly paid hundreds of dollars for an unnecessary service here - we will not be returning to any Brake Masters due to this horrible service. read more

This was originally a 5 star review when originally posted on 03/11/19...We have been taking our cars for a few years. We have always received great service at good prices. Two weeks ago we brought our truck in for a oil leak. It was fixed and yesterday it started to leak again although from a slightly different area. They honored their warranty and fixed it with no questions. The vehicle was there from 7:30 to 5:30. We waited over an hour from the time we were told to pick up. Not the first time this has happened. Drive less then a mile for dinner, come back to the vehicle and the Check engine light is now on. This is new, it has never happened before. They are now closed. My wife who's driving behind me calls and says that liquid is pouring from underneath the vehicle. We pull over and it's coolant pouring out. We notice a tube/ hose that looks like it's not connected. Before the vehicle can over heat we drive back and leave it at the location over night. Wife takes another day off work, goes in to give the keys. Because this is the 3rd time back they say they have to call in a tech. To their credit they say that it was poor workmanship and that the hose was either not connected or connected incorrectly and the part that was replaced was not properly plugged in causing the check engine light to come in. Self proclaimed Poor workmanship caused 2 separate issues. They did provide a rental while the vehicle is being fixed for the 3rd time. I am thankful that they accepted responsibility for the mistakes but now have no confidence in the work that was performed. And to be honest a little afraid to drive the vehicle. I would think twice before having anything beyond brakes and oil changes at this location. I'm not sure what led to the "poor workmanship" but 3 times is not a charm.
