Sigh, I went to this placed based on the reviews. I really should have had the mechanic I trust work on my brakes but he is not open on the weekends. There is a bulletin that my Hyundai Genesis requires factory OEM brakes according to my mechanic. They chose not to look up or ignore what Hyundai recommends. The brakes that are used in their "Lifetime Brakes" are cheap. You can see the physical difference. They started squealing about a week after install. I took it back and it back they said they had to resurface my rotors and did it for free. Another week later the same thing. My mechanic said they could resurface it back the noise would probably come back, it was best to buy OEM brakes. I'm not going to Brake Masters a 3rd time. I already gave them a chance to make it right and they chose to ignore what the manufacture recommends. read more

Went in to get my oil changed. They also threw in a free inspection to see if anything else needed attention. First off the quoted time of an hour was much more like 45 minutes and second they said my car didn't need anything. Most places I go to always try to tack on extra fees for other services, so it was nice not to be put in that situation. And as an added bonus, the guy up front (can't remember his name) told me a great place to get food in Ventura! (Btw everyone go try Rice by Mama) Anyways, very good service and they were very efficient. I'll definitely go back. read more

Employees are very nice. That was the good part. I have had a variety of services done there, but this last quote for work turned out to be a false quote for work not needed in the amount of $1400. All I needed was a wheel tire alignment and not full strut replacement on all tires. After a second opinion, the full shop said that brake masters should stick to brakes and not quote work that they incorrectly diagnose. Not sure if it was intentional, but I will not be back. I suggest getting a second opinion if they quote you for any work outside of brakes. read more

Friendly, yes, helpful, yes. Pulled the check engine codes twice, no charge. Decided to pay to have it diagnosed so I can get it to pass smog. 4 hours later they tell me its probably @$$&%# sensor. I bought a new one, replaced it myself. Today the check engine light came on again. I have to take it back tomorrow for another diagnostics. Am I going to have to pay for it again? I'll let you know tomorrow. Still have an electrical problem. They tried again to figure it out, to no avail, but I really can't blame them. The car passed emissions with flying colors. Even with the sensor problems. Toyota makes excellent engines and 200K miles is barely broken in. Doesn't smoke or burn oil, and purrs like the day it came out of the factory. So I am changing my review to 4 stars. Honestly, nobody but Mercedes and Rolls Royce gets 5 stars, but I can't afford them. Regrettably I have to take the car to Asian Auto Tech to get the electrical problem fixed. I'll give my review of them later. But for everything else, I'll be bringing it back to Brake Masters. read more

I was so pleased with the service that I received recently. Gabriel, the manager, told me that I could come in an hour before closing so they could inspect the car. Gabriel showed me the damage that was on my car, which another shop told me about. They stayed after hours while the part I needed was being sent from another location. Most places would have told me I would have to come back to fix the car. When the part arrived, Gabriel said that it wasn't a complete part so Gabriel and service guy Gino stayed until my car was safe to drive. Gabriel ordered a new complete part, I brought my car back the next morning, and my car was put in right away. Such awesome service, I will definitely be back!! Today is my 3rd visit to brake masters and to tell you the truth it's great, the establishment is welcoming and understanding they don't make you feel uncomfortable for not being able to purchase service on anything they notice in your vehicle that requires attention. Went this morning to have my front brakes and rotors replaced at Ventura shop. After a not so happy experience last year I decided to try again. Eric (general mgr) was very concerned about my past experience and was generous in wanting me to give them a chance to make it right. Travis was very professional and even showed me the warped rotors they took off which were resurfaced 2 wks ago at different shop ( not going to mention any names) because this one I am happy with .I definitely can tell the difference and no vibration or squeaking anymore. I called and spoke to Eric in regards to having some work done on my car. He advised to me to go ahead and bring it in. I showed up and was warmly greeted. They took a look at my car and quoted me on what needed to be replaced. Super affordable and quick service. He also ask that I bring the car back in as the check engine light had come on. I brought it back in yesterday and was told if they could take a look at it over night, Eric said they'd have to check a couple of things but that he definitely didn't want to give up on trying to figure out the problem.
