I've had both a really great and an okay experience here. A few years ago, I had my front and back brakes serviced and received awesome customer service, which is ultimately why I returned. My most recent experience wasn't bad, but it didn't quite match the level of service I experienced previously. They completed the service within a few hours and at a decent price. I typically have my car serviced at the dealership, so I already knew what I needed when I came in. I think that's important at a place like this--you need to know what you want, or the cost can add up. That said, I do feel they provide honest assessments. Overall, they did what I asked, but the customer service was just okay this time. When I first went in, I was told they were booked for the day and to come back tomorrow. When my husband went in, they took the car and had it finished earlier than expected. So, while I would still consider using them again, I think my previous experience set a higher expectation for customer service. read more

I had a complete brake repair, all for tires. Pads and rotors replaced, and brake fluid flushed. Prices around 3 to 400 dollars. Not long after my breaks begin to sqeaking, I returned to the shop under warranty they turned the rotors. One month later I returned they replaced the pads. Returned again replaced pads and turned rotors. This went on until several times even once after my warranty expired. My Nissan Murano was due for an oil change, so I went to the Avenue's dealership down the street, who does a courtesy 19 point inspection on every car the come in for repair. So I ask could their technician inspect my breaks for noise, they reported the pads or rotors did not need to be replaced due to ware, but that the parts used were substandard after market parts. I eventually went to another mechanic recommended by a friend, who replaced my pads with Auto Zone, Duralast gold, problem now corrected. I will never do business with this company again. read more

Recently recd. a brake job at this Phillips Hwy. location, but within 2 months or so, a new brake problem developed. After an inspection at this Brakes 4 Less, it was discovered that my brake line had developed a severe leak. (The leak was totally unrelated to the previous work the shop had performed). The management explained the extent of the problem and advised that the car was unsafe to drive. They COULD HAVE taken on the job and cost me many days and many, many $$$...but they didn't. They strongly recommended taking the car to the dealership, instead. The shop might have taken advantage of me easily, but chose the ethical, professional route....taking MY interest into account, instead of their own profit! Scheduled the $299 pre road trip service at 1000- got a call 30 mins after drop off and was told rears are good, need to replace front brakes and turn rotors. Went with premium pads in front, turned rotors and topped off fluids. Returned two hours later, total cost after tax was $225. I usually do my own work, but what they did was only $75 more than i could have done it for myself so was very happy with service and price. read more

I brought my car back in to B4L where I originally had the brakes put on; after driving up to NY for a week and back. Potholes, gridlock, stop-and-go traffic, crazy drivers, etc. I thought for sure my brakes needed to be looked at, after so much overuse. I was able to book an appointment for the following morning. When i arrived they immediately took my car in the bay, and had my tires off in under 5 minutes. The technician and the manager looked over all four brake pads and came over to tell me that they all still look brand new, and that they hope to see me back in a year or so for another check up. Customer service desk person was great but mechanic was horrible. Emergencies happen and if you don't want people coming in a half hour before you close than change your closing time. The mechanic was so ready to go, he didn't do a proper check. I went a couple of minutes down the road, the mechanic showed me pictures of how my back brake pads were touching metal. But the mechanic here said there was nothing wrong with the car, it's the tires. I understand why they're averaging 3 stars. They deserve one star. read more

BAD BUSINESS!!! I CAME INTO GET A LEAK FIXED AND LEFT WITH THE SAME LEAK, THEY NEVER EVEN TOUCHED IT.. They told me the reason it wasn't fixed was because I declined it. I never declined anything, they tried to charge me over $1000 for a ton of things that I did not need!! Ended up paying $650 for them to change 1 rotor and 2 front calipers and I still left with the leak. Not only did they waste my money but they wasted my time, they would work 2 minutes and take a break for 10 minutes. DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING BRAKES! My 19 year daughter went in due to a noise in her brakes. They told her she needed all new pads and some caliper work. Took it to another location, Nissan because she owns an Altima. Pads were fine (75%) and no caliper issues. Problem was they needed to be cleaned due to brake dust build up!! $18.50 at Nissan and the problem was solved. Pretty sad how a company can take advantage of my daughter. Sad. read more

While I was there I discussed the other issues the dealership said I needed repairs on with James and he told me how to fix the remaining issues for $0.85. Good service, had some miscommunication with manager since we needed only the back brakes being done but they did all four, it was to late to take them off but spoke to manager he was very sorry and did give us something to make up for the miscommunication. To begin, the service here is good. Friendly customer service. Open on the weekends. No issues there. The issues came when after my four break pads were installed. I began having extreme shuttering issues that didn't seem normal. I took my vehicle to my mechanic and he mentioned they had installed my break pads backwards. What?! The staff here was very knowledgeable when it came to finding the issue with my car. They were able to locate the exact problem before starting the inspection. Come to find out, the problem that the mechanic guessed was the problem. They explained everything I would need from the basic minimum to maintain on the road to the best value. Came in just before a hurricane and had all 4 wheels done, new rotors, the works. 50,000 mile guarantee. 30-something thousand miles later I get a grinding. Front right is bad. Called, dropped it off, repaired, no charge. And no call when the job was done, as requested. I just stopped in as I was passing by and was told it was completed. A week later I notice my right front wheel (which had been cleaned during the warranty repair) is really dirty. Dirt and dust is adhering to the wheel and will not come off like it does on the other 3 wheels. The wheel's finish is supposed to be a shiny silver color, now it's still silver, but missing the finish coat. The clear finish is gone. I'm guessing someone cleaned it with something that damaged the wheel. (Like brake cleaner??) Warranty was fine, but I wouldn't go back since my wheel was ruined. read more

I was told I needed to have all my brakes pads, rotors and calipers all changed- the cost was over $800 and that was with discounts the manager informed me he took off. I went a friend referral and turns out only one pad and caliper needed to be replaced- not all 4. Brought my car in here early December. Told me I needed my front rotors and brake pads changed, but that the price to get all 4 done was a better deal. So I did all 4 and waited for about 1 1/2 hours to get the car completed. After driving it for about a week, I began to hear a squeaking noise (which is why I brought it in in the first place) coming from the front right side. Since I have a 12,000 mile warranty, I brought it back in and explained the noise I was hearing. 45 minutes later they claimed to have "fixed" the noise I was hearing and said I was good to go. Here we are about one month from when I first got the brakes repaired and the noise is 100x worse than when I brought it in. Not wanting to waste my time at this location again, I called the San Jose location and was taken care of the way I should've been when I first came here and paid for my brakes to be FIXED. I recently began hearing a squeak with my brakes and I was convinced I would need new brakes. After some research I took it in to this location. Scott was great and set my wait expectations. After about 20 minutes he returned and said I didn't need new brakes! Get that! - an honest repair shop. Even better he said he didn't charge for the brake inspection. I Do Not like how they play games in giving an estimate for the cost of work. I called to get a quote on replacing brake pads for the rear on my car. Lady gave me quote of $119 for my car. I made an appointment right then over the phone. When I went to the shop, the man wanted me to sign a statement on the repair order that I wanted a quote for the cost of the work. I said I already had a quote over the phone. He said they would inspect both front & rear brakes and call with a quote after they knew what work should be done. He called to say that in addition to the pads that they wanted to replace "the hardware" that would come to $159, so I said OK. When I picked up the car, the bill was quite a bit higher. I questioned this and he pointed to a sign on the desk that said there would be a "shop charge" of $12. So the total bill for the work quoted as $119, wound up costing $171 PLUS TAX or $182.97. I had Assumed the $159 quote was a complete price. Well, you can see I was too trusting. Buyer BEWARE. read more
