We have been super pleased with Brakes Plus on Yosemite. The guys in the shop and working the counter are smart, helpful, and not pushy. They are respectful to both men and women (THANK YOU!) and prices have always been reasonable. I've even heard them remind customers to pull up a coupon before finalizing their bill. The work they do has been very good and the customer service has been terrific. We have a Lexus with over 100,000 miles on it that needs regular maintenance to keep it running well. In one situation, Brakes Plus got rid of a loud noise related to the timing belt. It helped for a while, but then the sound came back. We took the car back in and they fixed it (for good this time) at no charge. This company has a name problem-- they do a lot more than just brakes. The "Plus" is for real. We've had them work on brakes, belts, rotate tires, oil change, tune up, and more. We always make a point to call here first when something comes up and are grateful to have someplace reliable with great mechanics in the area. A great shop I'd highly recommend. read more

Stopped in to this Brakes Plus after a Grease Monkey failed to stop my brakes from squeaking. I know, I know, what was I thinking getting my brakes done at a Grease Monkey anyways?? I'm a loyal customer, what can I say?? I am so incredibly impressed with the service I received from Jaime, Graham (sorry if I misspelled that buddy), and the rest of the team at Brakes Plus. They warrantied the brakes that Grease Monkey tried to repair, got me in right away, and did the work at an incredibly competitive price! They took the time to explain, and show, the extent of the work they were going to do and why. The general manager Jaime was super friendly, as were the rest of the customers in the waiting room. I won't be going back to breaks plus. I told my suv there to get an oil change. I chose breaks plus because the price on the website said $40, $33 after the $7 coupon. Got there and they said their prices had changed and it was going to cost $59. I explained the price discrepancy and was told it didn't matter, the price is now $59, then end. Of course they found something g wrong with it. $1300 for more work(found a place closer to my office that would do it for less after the fact). While it's on the rack, they called because it needed another $125 of something. They also checked my breaks, which, apparently, need work. Another $400. I told the guy I couldn't afford to do the breaks too and he went into a guilt trip about my breaks. Not happy with my experience there. Won't be going back. Avoid if possible. read more

I wish there was a way to leave a review with fewer stars than 1. I don't know if the people who work in this shop are lazy, incompetent or both. I brought my SUV to their shop this afternoon because it was giving me a message to service the parking break. It took almost 20 minutes to check in with the front desk, because the guy working that desk was more interested in flirting with the customer in front of him. Once she left, I came up and explained the situation. He decided to chat with me about the MLB allstar game, issues with other cars, the state of personnel within the shop, the fact that his boss' daughter had to go to the ER and anything else that might have crossed his mind. While he was talking, he would stop typing on the computer, so what should have been a 1-2 minute check-in dragged on until I asked him to stop talking and complete his work. I waited about 45 minutes before one of the team members took my car to the bay to look at it. The car was there for about 30 minutes before the team member came back out and, with a smirk on his face said that he could not recreate the problem and that I should take the vehicle to the dealership because they would be better able to help me. He then tried to charge me $53.00 for looking at the car, which I refused to pay. I took my keys back and headed out of the parking lot. Before I got to the street, the error message came up again. I turned around and drove back to the shop. I went inside to tell them that it had just happened again. They informed me that they wouldn't be able to look at the vehicle today, since they were booked for the remaineder of the day. I cannot begin to express how angry I am right now. I took several hours out of my work day to deal with this, just to be treated like crap. I will never go back to Brakes Plus, not this location or any other. I would strongly encourage anyone looking to have work done on their car to look elsewhere. read more

The local Honda dealership told me I urgently needed new brake pads and transmission fluid, so I came here for a second opinion. The technicians here confirmed I still had 50% left on my brakes and my transmission fluid was fine. No charge. Unfortunately this place is going downhill. I have used break plus several times in past years without any issues. This time has been a nightmare starting at the Dayton Street location... I brought my car in because I'm having an issue with my ABS brakes, after waiting about 45 minutes I asked how much longer it would be to have it looked at? He suggested I make an appointment and bring it back later that week which I did, I got there 5 to 10 minutes before my appointment time I waited about 20 minutes and my car was still not brought in, I decided to take a walk and go get lunch, they were going to call me..., I killed about an hour and 15 minutes and never got a call from them I walked back, my car was still sitting outside they never even looked at it almost 2 hours after my appointment time. I then contacted their corporate office I believe the gentleman's name was Rich he apologized and wanted to make it right so I then brought my car to the Yosemite location dropped it off took an Uber home and an Uber back to pick the car up to no avail they couldn't figure it out and said the guy who is the ABS specialist was out that day. This was the third Day of wasted time and money, I then made another appointment and brought my car back again making arrangements for a ride etc. I was told that that guy wasn't working there anymore but the problem was my alignment? I then made another appointment to bring the car back I was very adamant that I didn't believe it was an alignment problem The previous guy said my alignment was off and my steering wheel was crooked etc. which was not true I had no problem with my alignment the car went straight down the road the steering wheel was straight but they were adamant this was going to fix the problem so I paid 60+ dollars to have an alignment and GuessWhat ?? that didn't fix the problem. When I asked what I should do? he said take it somewhere else they were unable to fix it! I was flabbergasted.. So after five trips at Two different locations which was a waste of time, money and aggravation I am still driving an unsafe vehicle! There was never any follow up from Rich or anyone else. I won't be going back anytime soon! You would think a Place called brakes would be able to repair your brakes. Appointment times mean nothing... It's poor management with incompetent mechanics. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a Brakes Plus. I dropped my car off in the morning for a simple oil change and tire rotate. Checked on it at 4 was told it was next up now. Said okay cake back at 5:15 and still hasn't moved all day. But yet other cars that came in after me were serviced and gone. Felt like they just pushed me back cuz I wasn't waiting. I assure you that I will never service any of my 4 vehicles with you guys again. What a waisted day for myself. read more

I took my Forester in because it was having some problems with the warning lights and stuff. They told me it was my yaw sensor under the shifter. They said my drinks were seeping down and shorting it out. They told me it would be over $1,000 to fix it. I decided to get a second opinion at the actual Subaru place and they told me it was the brake light fuse. They had been having the problem a lot so they did it for free. They couldn't diagnose the problem right and tried to take me for a ride. Probably because they thought I was young and naive. read more

Exceptional car shop!!! We love this brakes plus location. We first came here 1-2 years ago when we were quoted a very expensive bill from big o tires and came here for a second opinion. Brakes plus disagreed with the first quote and only suggested a few less expensive repairs, but actually explained WHY that was the case and why those repairs were necessary/due at this time. Everyone we have spoken with here is professional, polite and very informative and I love that they take the time to explain things to us without making us feel like a burden. They also don't make you feel bad for turning down recommended services like big o tires does. We moved across town last year so this location is not close by anymore, unfortunately. However, we took our car in to big o tires over the weekend (we only go there now because we get free tire rotations with our current tires) and they again recommended over $1,000 in repairs. We promptly left and took it straight here where we actually trust the business to tell us the truth. Brakes plus did agree with the recommended services this time, and that's ok with us because they actually explained what needed to be done and why, and we feel good about spending our money here. We will still drive all the way across town to come here when we need larger issues fixed because it is worth it to have a automotive shop you can trust. They even stayed late on a Saturday to finish up several vehicles they were working on--now that is service! read more

I've been having brake issues on my F-150 for a couple months now and needed an emergency service. I called around to a few places and came across Brakes Plus. They said to come in and took a look at my brakes within an hour and also were able to service my vehicle the same day. Which is a life saver as a contract worker. I had an appointment for an oil change and battery replacement for friday, but somehow it got put in their calendar for thursday. Devin did everything he could to accomodate on friday but nothing was going to work since I was due to leave town that afternoon. I was supposed to drive to Aspen and was worried about my car making the drive. He took the time to check my oil to make sure I'd be ok for my trip, topped off my washer fluid, and got me rescheduled for next week. A few months ago I was in a wreck and had to quickly find a new vehicle. After a while I found a Nissan rouge that was used with a little over 112,000 miles on it. I got the car knowing that eventually I would need to get some work done on the vehicle but the dealership I got it from serviced it and said everything was good to go. Not even a few days later the brake pads were having issues so my mother took it into Pep Boys to get new brake pads put on. Everything seemed okay for a while until I started having some serious problems with the car. Thankfully enough I choose to go to this Brakes Plus location and they quickly got us in to get everything checked out. It turned out that the car had several things wrong. I'm not sure if the place my mother took it to was having a bad day or something but they clearly just slapped on the pads and didn't actually look at any other things in the car. They ended up having to resurface the rotors and replacing all of the struts and shocks. They changed out all my fluids and filters. Overall Ben and Travis were super understanding and made sure to explain everything to were I could understand as I'm not a car person. As my bill ended up being over $1000 they found as many coupons for me as they could to help out with the hefty bill. I can't express enough how great everyone here was and I will definitely make sure to come to this location for any future car needs. read more

This was my first time taking my car here. My whole car was shaking when I braked so I needed someone to tell me what was wrong and with a free diagnosis I thought this would be great. The diagnosis was good, however, I went in for brakes and they quoted me on much more than that saying I needed all of these things fixed, which most I felt unnecessary. All of that would be fine, it's expected. However, my car battery was dead when I went to pick it up and they had to jump it. All of my preset radio stations had been changed and my all wheel drive system warning light was on. I would expect to pick up my car in much better condition than that. I don't plan on going back and I do not recommend. read more

If I could give more stars I would! I went in for an oil change and everyone was very friendly. Once I got my tires rotated they discovered that my brakes were extremely worn which I knew was soon going to come up. They explained everything to me and didn't pressure me at all. They were able to do all the repairs necessary and it was a decent price. They offered to give me a ride so I didn't have to wait because it was going to be a little longer than expected. I was very impressed with the customer service and the quality work!!! My husband had to have his brakes replaced last week and they stayed late so he wouldn't be without a vehicle. I've only gone to this specific Brakes Plus once but I will most definitely be going back. Kent was very friendly and very helpful. He was the only one who asked ME questions of everyone I called around for prices on brake flushes. After I left it there, Kent called me to let me know he'd done some research on my problem as well and just wanted to let me know all that he'd found out before he went ahead and did the brake flush, in case the brake flush would harm the problem. What a great experience! I showed up, unscheduled, at 3pm, on a Friday, parking lot full of cars, because my 2003 Subaru with 280k miles on it had suddenly been severely overheating (and the a/c was worthless at low speeds). I feared the worst. Super friendly staff said they'd squeeze it in before they closed at 6. $22.50 to give the car a look. Within just 2 hours, they'd had the car in the bay, given it a look, determined it was just a couple popped surge protectors, and replaced 'em, all for about $25! I was thrilled! This is the best Auto Shop I've found so far in Denver. Kent and Alan are great, they are very honest and up-front. I've taken my Honda Element in expecting to need new brakes and they told me everything looked fine and I could wait. I've had multiple oil changes, an alignment, coolant and tranny flushes. They are always great about noticing wiper blades and light bulbs that need to be replaced, and topping off fluids. Prices are very reasonable and coupons can be found on their website. I'm glad Nicole had such a good experience at Brakes Plus, and I have to think it's changed ownership since she was there. Shifty, shady, I'm trying to think of nice internet friendly words to use for this place. I went there because my wife has gone there before (around the time Nicole wrote her review) and has always been very happy with them, and walked out the door paying the $129 advertised price every time. Not this go-round, no way. Classic bait and switch shop. "The good news is your pads are not going to cost you anything, of course the hardware kit, you have to pay for, and that's XXX." I'm supposed to not know that the shims and clips come with the pads when Brakes Plus buys them, and that way I'll pay them the cost of new pads that they are giving to me for "free" for the "hardware kit" that's "required" to "do this job right, sir." Next, "The front rotors really need to be turned while on the car, or you are going to get pulsation and have problems down the road. We turn them off the car for free, but this is really what you need to do if you want to do the job right." Let's put aside the fact that rotors have been being turned off the car every OTHER pad change for all of automotive history, Brakes plus has found a new way to do it that doesn't require them to remove the rotor AND bleeds the customer of another $34.95 per wheel, which is more than the cost of a good lifetime warranty rotor at Pep Boys. Now, we get to the back rotors, which "Look like they haven't been turned and are just at the end of their life. I can't even turn these, so we are going to need to replace those, that's $64 per side." I asked him how that could be since these are new, lifetime warranty rotors that are less than 18 months old. "They just don't make 'em like they used to!" I asked what kind of warranty is offered on these rotors that cost 3X what I paid for the ones he's taking off. Oh, we don't warranty these parts at all. "Because they just don't make them like they used to, right?" Right. So, $128 for $48 worth of rotor parts. The guy says, "We have people here to pay." I said, "Well that's built into the cost of labor you are charging me." He says "Ok, I'll be honest, we have to make a profit on parts, the parts stores do the same thing." Fair enough - so Pep Boys sells me a rotor at $24 and they are making a huge profit - how much profit did Brakes Plus just make at $64 per rotor? We dropped the car off, and they were going to get right on it. It's 4 hours later, and we are still waiting, so I gave them a call. Same guy answers the phone. He says, "I could go ask them how long it's going to be but you are going to have to wait in line just like everybody in my shop and there's 4 people in front of you, it's going to be a long time." I declined the free Brakes Plus "Wait on hold for 20 minutes to find out when your car will be ready" service. I shouldn't have, because it's the only free thing I'm getting from them today. We went in for "Free Replacement of Lifetime Warranty Pads," which, I'm assured by Brakes Plus is what we are getting. And, it only cost us $401 out the door for that free replacement after the "hardware kits," "free rotor turning," and replacement of rotors that I'm 100% certain couldn't have been worn below specification. There's only one reason I put my hands up and gave them my money without a fight, and that's the fact that they already had my car taken apart and we are due to leave on the only vacation we'll be going on this year - a road trip. They had me trapped and they knew it. When I got the $401 call, I called the dealer, typically the most expensive place in town to get this work done. They quoted me $245. They couldn't get to it before we have to leave town, so I'm left with about $156 of regret. Consider this when you are looking at that number, $245 at the dealer was for NEW pads, this $401 is for the "Free Warranty Replacement On Lifetime Pads." DO NOT go to this Brakes Plus, it's a classic, '70s style old-school bait and switch ripoff shop. They do it with a smile, but I would too, if my business could charge $401 for 1/2 hour of work and a few cheap parts. read more

We have taken 3 of our family cars to this location, and must say, is a wonderful place! As a woman, mechanics usually treat me like I don't know anything, and never "waste their time" in explaining the problem. Here, they were very respectful. I appreciated the time they took in finding the problems and letting us know before they did anything that cost us money. The manager and staff are honest and all treated me the same. I do know cars and I know how much things are supposed to cost to fix, and they have it right. Even under priced! Other mechanics will tell you ANYTHING to make another company look bad, that's what happened, I believe, to the previous reviewer. I had a complete overhaul done to my Honda Civic 2001, and it cost me $500! It works perfect now, and I was very pleased with the price. I had taken it to 3 other places, they all told me it needed at LEAST $3000 of work done.. I never told Brakes Plus this info.. goes to show you, it's so tough to find an honest mechanic! We had a front brake squawk that was getting progressively worse. This sound was not from brakes getting old, the pads were fairly new. Lexus dealer claimed sound was from a brake actuator and would cost $2400 to replace. But they did notice that whoever the prior owner had replace brakes before the sale, they didn't machine the rotors. But dealer was sure that the sound was truly coming from faulty (and expensive) actuator. We took the car to Brakes Plus. They inspected the system and said the front rotors were grooved. They also said if they just machined the rotors, the sound may not go away. But machining the rotors, as well as the pads, should do the trick. No recommendations for work that wasn't needed. They machined the rotors and the pads, lubed it up and boom, the annoying squawk was gone. And $150 cost rather than $2400 would make anyone's day. THANK YOU! read more
