I feared I had caused some problems with the transmission when I did the axle install, so I took it here to see if they could check. They did a 22 point inspection, including the suspension and pinpointed where the actual problem was, and (thankfully!) it wasn't the transmission, but the lower control arm on the passenger side. ‼‼$40,000 in DAMAGES -- Engine Destroyed, Vehicle TOTALED by Capitol Automotive's Negligence‼‼…read more In March, I took my BMW to Capitol Automotive for a simple oil change -- and they completely totaled my car. They failed to reinstall the control valve inside the oil cap and used a cheap, poor-fitting aftermarket oil filter. This caused severe internal damage -- metal shavings were found in the oil, and the engine ultimately failed. BMW confirmed the failure was due to poor oil control caused by that missing valve. To make matters worse, their handling of the situation has been completely unprofessional and unethical. Instead of standing behind their work, they've shown how untrustworthy and careless their process truly is. Instead of owning up to their mistake, they've now resorted to accusing us of spreading lies about their business -- which is not only false but completely immoral. Trying to discredit customers rather than taking accountability for their own negligence is beyond unprofessional. It's embarrassing, and it says everything about the way they operate. This was not a small mistake -- it was complete carelessness that totaled my car. What should have been a simple oil change turned into a $40,000 disaster. Do not trust Capitol Automotive with your vehicle. Legal action is already underway.

It needed a variety of things done the biggest ticket items being the air conditioning, along with many battery problems that once we got the vehicle back had not been corrected. The air conditioning items that had been installed lasted for 2 days. When we took our vehicle back the solution offered was to put a new ac compressor in which would be another 2+K$$$ I feel we were "taken to the cleaners". I'm so disappointed. We prefer to support local business but now my thoughts it shifted to buyer beware.

I took my 2021 Subaru to AEW in December of 2023 to have the windshield washer hose replaced. The…read morewindshield washer fluid was leaking out of the car. They determined that a rodent had eaten part of the hose! So they replaced the hose to the front washer and told me they didn't know where to route the hose to the back window washer. Kurt said it was working fine on the front window now, and I told him the back window could wait. When I got home, I popped the hood and noticed there was no washer fluid in the reservoir, so I poured the gallon of new fluid in. I went into the house to tell my wife I was home, and then came back out about 10 minutes later to discover almost all the new fluid was running out into my garage and down the driveway. I called Kurt and he said he couldn't understand how that was happening, but he would "get back with me" to arrange for an inspection. Move ahead 6 MONTHS LATER, still no call back from A&E. I try to email them through the web site they list on Yelp, and it says the web site no longer exists! I try to email him, and the email bounces back. So I place a request for service here on YELP again, and 3 or 4 other places answer, but not A&E. So my only thought is that they sold the place and it's under new management? I don't know, but they did NOT fix the problem, they never contacted me again as promised, and the did not respond to the request sent to them through YELP. I ended up fixing the problem myself for $8.00. The second line, that he did not fix and that he told me "would not matter if I don't want to use the rear window washer" had a big hole it as well. When I filled up the reservoir, the weight of the fluid in the full tank caused the water to start syphoning out through that hole in the tube - once it was low enough (i.e. almost empty), it would stop and there would be enough fluid left to wash the front windows several times. They were all very friendly the first time I visited and I thought we had a good working relationship, but it turns out they didn't want to fool with the car although they really did NOT fix my problem and I was never able to contact them again. I don't know what their problem is, but I cannot recommend them as a reliable automobile service.
