It was years ago , but definitely worth a mention. I purchased a new Honda CR-V from Brandon Honda of Branford . At 100k miles the vehicle was consuming a quart of oil a month . I brought vehicle back to Branfon Honda and was told it was an " oil sending unit" ( which I'd never heard of ) that was the problem . I paid for new " oil sending unit" install. A month later I was down a quart of oil again . Annoyed, I googled "Honda CR -V oil problem" and much to my surprise I discovered that The Honda corporation had issued a recall on CR-Vs of the year of my car. The problem had something to do with the material used for the valve seals being inferior, and they needed to be replaced. Obviously this problem was common enough to have a Honda recall . My BIG problem was this , by the time I learned from my internet search about the recall, it was too late to get covered by the recall ! A time limit of coverage had closed. At the time of my first visit to Branfon Honda with oil loss problem, the recall time period was open ! I would have had my valve seals changed for FREE . I returned to Branfon Honda with a print out of the recall and Branfon Honda stated "you do need to replace your valve seals, but to bad for you , time for free recall repair had closed " - I stated I brought my Honda ( that I purchased from you ) in a month ago with oil consumption problem, when recall would have covered repair, and you ( Branfon Honda ) failed to recognize and notify me my problem was under a recall . At this time, ( only two weeks after the closed recall window time) I expected Branfon to admit they should have realized my SYMPTOMS of oil loss in a CR-V with only 100k miles on it had the valve seals recall problem. Had they done this , I would have received proper recall coverage ! Brandon estimated repair cost to me would be 1,300$ I expected Branfon Honda of Branford to pay for what recall would have , and they refused . Instead Branfon Honda kicked my case up to the Honda Corporation and Honda Corporation ( not Branfon ) paid for 70% of repair . I expected that Branfon Honda of Branford would pick up the remaining 30% of repair cost. I was wrong , Branfon Honda paid nothing - I brought my car that I bought from them , with a problem common enough to have a recall , they either were unaware of the recall ( and they should be aware of all recalls ) or just dumb. They didn't have the dignity to pay for repair that was under a recall that they should have been aware of . I had to pay remaining 30%. -& Stay away from Branfon Honda of Branford , do yourself a favor and drive to Westbrook . They did an oil change and never changed my oil filter. They also charged me over $2000 for something they never fixed. I had to bring to another mechanic who showed me all the work Honda in Branford didn't do and still charged me a $2800 bill. We had a BAD EXPERIENCE with Branfon Honda. My wife was set on buying a new (2025) vehicle. She was initially quoted a competitive price at a reasonable interest rate with a delivery date of under 2 weeks at the end of December 2024. After removing the plates from our old car to transfer to the new vehicle and cancelling the insurance and driving to the dealer, we were told, THE DAY WE WERE TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, that the interest rate had increased. We pointed out that we had an agreement, in the salesman's hand writing, the terms of which were for a hybrid with a specific VIN at the quoted rate, and had made a deposit. He said he had no control over the increase and that the rate he'd written down on the agreement was for a different vehicle. We then showed him the written agreement with the terms in his handwriting. The manager came over and said the dealer had no control over the increase. In contract law, there is offer and acceptance. They offered the terms, we accepted, and made a deposit, which they cashed. I have heard from two other women attempting to buy cars at Branfon, both of whom also went elsewhere, that they were asked leading questions such as, "Is it just for you?" and "Is your husband here?" Both were also yin-yanged on sales terms. We cancelled the purchase, went to another dealer, and managed to buy the same vehicle in the same color with the same features for $1,300 less AND at the lower rate we'd been told by the Branfon salesman AND manager no longer applied. Branfon did a deliberate bait-and-switch. You'll get a better deal elsewhere. read more

Never buy a car from them again. I bought my first brand new car to realize It had been in some type of accident on the front bumper. I wanted a new car which is what I was supposed to get the Owner fixed it but i bought a new car which should Not be damaged. Besides I don't believe the glass coated it with. NEGATIVE STARS Do NOT trust this dealership! My 2018 Honda CRV was brought to this "independently owned and operated dealership" in CT on September 21, 2021 for a routine oil change. Months later in January 2022 at my next oil change after moving across the country to TX, my splash shield was discovered to be torn/carelessly cut and replaced with basic metal screws (after what looks like rusted screw clips were unable to be removed properly by the technician and dealership in Branford CT). At the Sept 2021 service, nothing was ever communicated to me while I was waiting in their waiting area regarding this splash shield, however other maintenance issues were recommended (conveniently leaving out the issue with my "supposedly torn already splash shield"). I had not brought my car to any other dealership in that same time span, and after inquiring, the general managers admit to asking their technician about my vehicle who actually "remembered the condition of the splash shield", however NEVER COMMUNICATED ITS EVIDENTLY FAULTY CONDITION, yet suggested other recommendations for maintenance in the provided invoice. The lack of communication is one issue of mine, while Ofcourse the quality of service and poor workmanship at this dealership is the other. **Please refer to pictures attached. Is that honestly the quality of service anyone would want from a dealership? & even if they claim that it wasn't their modifications, how are they allowing their customers to drive out with obvious flaws in vehicle parts like that?! How does a certified dealership not have the appropriate tools, parts, or communication capabilities to inform me as the valued customer that my car was in that condition?** I don't ever write bad reviews, but I don't want anyone else to experience the lack of quality & integrity that this dealership has displayed. To my dismay, after numerous inquiries and emails with Honda Brandfon and Honda corporate customer service, both are unable to render any assistance for the replacement of my vehicle's part, thus further lowering the integrity of my vehicle which was caused by them! Both are either denying it to be a workmanship issue (even though I only brought my car to the Branford dealership, and the technician admits to seeing the splash shields condition), or denying it to be a manufacturers issue with the rusted screw clips. This "certified" dealership was unable to do the job correctly, with their proper tools, denied this "hack job" that incredibly lowered the integrity of my vehicle, and therefore I highly recommend others to get service from a DIFFERENT dealership!! Perhaps maybe even ANY OTHER COMPANY that is not Honda, because my experience with them is something I hope is never experienced by anyone else. Car dealerships make me queasy but I had one question, so should be easy. Walked in, and to my left there sat a completely disinterested and rude brat. Her head never left her hand as she stared at me, which she clearly wish wasn't there. She asked for my info, I didn't wish to share but she insisted, so I did what was fair. I started to spell my name to this drone but she couldn't hear me over her headphones. She made me repeat everything I said after removing her headphones from her head. I have zero positive comments about Brandfon Honda. Since 2018 I have always leased my cars through this dealership. I had to file for Bankruptcy recently. I explained this to the Salesman. He kept insisting it would not affect my ability to lease another vehicle. He stated we all go through issues in life. It happens. He had me test drive a car. I was excited about it but I had a feeling the Salesman was just appeasing me. In all my years of having a vehicle I never missed a car payment. He told me oh yeah you'll be fine since I have always gone with Honda Financial. The Bankruptcy would not be an issue and they wouldn't leave me without a car. Sure enough it was an issue. He basically came back to me and said I could not be approved and there was nothing they could do to help me and started walking away. I was so embarrassed. I have never been made to feel this horrible by any Salesman. I have since been able to go with a completely different make. We purchased a new pre-owned car this morning and the process was seamless. We were in the market for a good condition, fairly priced used car for our daughter in college. I brought my car to the dealer last month. I have an older accord. It was a Saturday and the service person seemed cool. She told me there was no way I was gonna be able to get the car looked at. I told her I needed it for work Monday. She told me she had a friend who works on the accords and passed over his number. She told me I could trust him. We worked it out and I dropped the car to him. He looked like a fiend. He called me Sunday to say he needed another $700 to fix it. I said no and he towed it to my house on a Monday. Now I'm out $500 and a car. I called the girl over there and she said Hondas are like that and that's why she drives a Nissan. Now when I call she hangs up. Her friend don't answer too. I just want my $500 back. Branfon Honda and Chris Donofrio were great and such a relief in the car buying process. We were looking for a good deal on a used vehicle in decent shape...which we were starting to lose hope with - either the cars we checked out were trashed OR they were in great shape and as expensive as buying a brand new car. So after getting typical dealership treatment at many other locations, we were recommended by a family friend to check out Brandfon Honda. Upon entering for our first appointment (necessary now because of COVID), we able to check out MULTIPLE vehicles without any hassle and were so impressed with the used car inventory that Brandfon had to offer, they were all in excellent shape and had the Carfax to back them, as well as a good range of prices. Also, to go back to the COVID protocols, Brandfon was totally COVID compliant, all staff members were wearing masks at all times, there were many sanitizing stations throughout the dealership, the desks all were equipped with plexi, and each time we would look at a car, they would go out and sanitize it beforehand. The process once we decided on a car was simple and easy; no rush to make a decision, no games on pricing and Chris was incredibly upfront, personable, and easy to reach via phone or text throughout it all. Not sure why the Honda brand allows places like this to marr it's reputation. .. We were so close to buying a car here and mostly Gary the financial advisor was the reason that we did not. On the first day we went to look at the car, we arrived 75 minutes prior to close and were told this was too late to let us test drive the car, which was stupid. We work normal hours and get out at 5pm, so for a dealership to be closed on Sundays, limited hours on Saturdays, and then not show cars on weeknights is totally dumb---do you want to sell a car or not? Apparently not. The 2nd day they did not want us to test drive because they only allow people with pre-existing car insurance to test drive cars. WOW! So if you are a first time car buyer or someone who has not had a car in a while, then you're out of luck! Because unless you go and buy insurance for the car you want to test drive, you can't drive any of their cars...OK! Apparently that is according to the owner who is 'very particular' and sounds like a complete moron. We almost left right then, so they made an exception for us. They brought the car over and apparently 'already safety tested it' and yet lugnuts were falling off the tires....SO not actually safe to drive is it!? It had other safety issues but the highly capable service dept refused to even look at those until we 'put a deposit down', which we did, and then they refused to look until we 'signed the purchase contract'...hmmmmm, not great customer service from people who couldn't tighten a lug nut. We still tried by putting a deposit on it and a couple of days later got a call from Gary the financial advisor who said that he had the loan info. Now Gary, who is very rude and bad at his job explained that he didn't actually run my credit and therefore was offering a very high interest rate for the loan. When I asked him REPEATEDLY to run my credit, he refused and said that 'it's already done and that's the offer'. He then explained to me how stupid I am for even needing a loan on a car that is under 20K. HEY GARY, NEWSFLASH BUDDY, YOU DON'T WORK AT A LAMBORGHINI DEALERSHIP, YOU WORK AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP. So if your employer is selling cars under 20K, then that means that you need to provide actual customer service to people who buy cars under 20K...get it? Honda is a family brand and I didn't need to hear some BS about Gary's classist biases, so I went to a different dealership and bought a better car at a better rate from much much nicer people! Wish I could give negative stars! This place is horrible! To anyone looking to purchase a vehicle, BRANDFON HONDA is one dealership that I would NEVER consider again nor recommend to anyone I know. My husband and I have been searching for a truck for our 17 year old son. We saw a truck on-line on MANY web sites with a listing price of $11,000. My husband went to check out the truck on Monday. After driving the truck, he was told it had not yet been through inspection but that it would be done during the week. He was asked to place a $500 deposit to hold the vehicle which he did. Several days later, he received a call from salesman Eddie stating that they weren't sure now if they would wholesale the vehicle or do the work and selling it. Eddie asked him to come back to look at it again and stated the owner's son Corey, would authorize the work only IF we guaranteed them we would purchase it. When we arrived to the BRANDFON dealership, we were told that the vehicle was "unsafe" to drive, and thus, we could not test drive it. They also refused to allow us to bring the vehicle to our mechanic for inspection. I informed them that I would not purchase a truck that I could not test drive. They then agreed to allow us to drive it, but continued to refuse our mechanic's approval. After I and my son test drove the truck, we agreed that we would move forward with the guarantee of purchase and were told that we would now have to leave a $1,000 deposit to which, we again agreed. My husband went back on Saturday to sign the contract. Eddie then told him that the owner's son Corey NOW wanted $3,000 down as a deposit, which is 25% of the overall cost, in order to show that we were serious!!! He still agreed and signed the contract with a delivery price of $11,900. We received a call on Monday and were told the work will be done and the truck should be good to pick up by the end of the week. Since we did not get a copy of the contract, my husband asked for the final amount so we could get a certified check. He was told that the final price was NOW $12,900. When questioned why it was $1,000 more than what he signed for and he was told they forgot to add in a few charges....hmmmmm??? Two days later, we were informed that Cory decided that there was additional work that needed to be done and they didn't want to honor the agreed upon signed contract and they would be selling the truck. After speaking with the manager Chris who agreed that this deal had been mishandled on so many levels and the General Manager, all we got for this whole ordeal outside of a headache was "not my call, not much I can do". So to recap: 1. The dealership put a vehicle on their lot and web pages WITHOUT a safety inspection!!! 2. The dealership allowed 3 PEOPLE to test drive an "Unsafe" vehicle - including a 17 YEAR OLD BOY!!! 3. The dealership refused our mechanic to personally inspect the vehicle! I wonder why??? 4. The dealership put a price on a vehicle without doing a proper analysis of cost versus needed repairs. 5. The deposit demand went from $500 to $1000 to $3000. 6. The dealership asked us to sign a contract but did not have the correct figures on it. 7. The dealership demanded us to GUARANTEE purchase with a larger deposit, but were not willing to GUARANTEE anything to us! I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER go back to BRANDFON HONDA nor refer anyone else even if the car was FREE! -- at Brandfon Honda. read more

I purchased my car at a Honda dealer in NY. I had nothing but great experiences there. The one time my car sets foot in Brandfon Honda, it's a fiasco. My husband brought in my car for an airbag recall that I received from Honda Motor Corp. Long story short, the work was completed but I received my car with a slash in the dashboard. That is NOT how I brought my car in and that is NOT how it should have been returned to me. This service department at this dealership is unprofessional. Instead of calling my husband to explain that they screwed up, they quietly returned my keys and didn't say a word, like we wouldn't notice?? That's the issue I have with this place. Brandfon Honda needs to own up to their mistake. Did they honestly think I wouldn't see a huge slash in the dashboard? The length of time this took to repair as well as all the hassle and time spent calling and giving us the run-around is beyond ridiculous. No compensation for my inconvenience. The worst service department. Very poor communication. Always trying to upsell you for service you don't need. The woman who works the service desk is surly and generally lacking in customer service skills. Drove there (half hour drive) because they told me they owed me a free oil change...when I got there, no one had any knowledge of that offer. They charged me $50 for an oil change I could have gotten for $20 in my hometown and I could have avoided the hour of commuting there and back. Never again. read more

Mysterious things happen in the repair area where customers are not allowed. I brought my CRV in for a part replacement, and they gave it back to me with that part replaced, but with new failures of three other parts that were fine when I brought it in. No explanation or apology from the Service Advisors; just a very expensive estimate to replace the parts that failed under their custody. Intervention by Corey Brandfon led them to do the right thing, replacing the parts at no cost to me. Number of stars reflect five for management, two for technicians, three for advisors. read more

Our cars transmissions light came on as we were driving from NYC to Boston. We found the closest dealership with service center and it was the Brandon Honda in Brandford CT. They gave us an immediate appointment and checked out the car while we had a late lunch across the street. We were advised to drive the car home and deal with it locally because after they did an initial check - they were worried that if they flushed the transmission there and removed any fragments then our dealership wouldn't be able to honor our warranty. And we didn't get charged for anything. We appreciated Brandfons care and attention. They were nice, helpful and thoughtful of our unfortunate situation. read more

I should have know better, but forewarning for future leasers, no matter what they tell you, get it in writing. I was told if I went back to them, any overage in miles would be taken care of if I purchased or released through them. That's crap! I opened a new tab just to have space to type this out. Branfon Honda is by-far the worst most unreputable Dealership EVER. I have been coming here ever since I purchased my first Honda in January 2017. Jan 2017 - Brought it in for lights/airbag recall ($50) Mar 2017 - Brought it in for accident repairs ($1500) Jun 2017 - Brought it in for VSA light issue ($135) Oct 2017 - Brought it in for engine replacement ($4000) old engine locked up & insurance paid out for a new one. This is why I'm upset 04/08/18 - My oil light came on followed by the check engine light minutes later. 04/08/18 - I have the car towed to the nearest mechanic (Wal-Mart) to see what's going on. "The engine is burning oil really bad, there's no leak it's just burning" 04/08/18 - Oil/Check engine light go off and car is back to normal (so I thought) 04/09/18 - Engine light comes on again & briefly goes off, I drive to Branfon to have it inspected for issues. 04/10/18 - Turns out there's a nation-wide issue with this engine burning oil, but for some reason it's not covered. 04/10/18 - Engine dies while going home. I asked Branfon who's at fault for selling me a faulty engine and they said it's my insurance who paid for the engine. But the insurance paid branfon to find an engine and they chose to go with a junkyard engine instead of a OEM Honda part. Their claim is that the insurance made them buy a junkyard engine, NOBODY makes anyone do anything! They could have declined but refused to because they wanted the labor cost. Nobody informed me about the engine being a junkyard engine because I would not have accepted that. Oh but get this, at first I was told I was getting a 16,000 mile engine, but immediately after I agreed to not take the $4,000 check & let Branfon handle everything, my engine was now 85,000 miles... Now I'm up in arms in litigation against this dealership. The owner who looks like he started balding at the age of 16 wasn't any help & gave the same disgusting smirk his (4, 1") Service Manager did. P.s. Now I know why Matt quit, this place is despicable. They did it again. Terrible. What's the simplest service any mechanic can do? Oil change. 3 times now on 2 different vehicles they overfilled my cars by 1 quart (and inch on the dipstick) Brought them back. They first say "It's fine." Show them the manual where it says "Overfilling oil can damage the engine." They grudgingly drain off the quart. In all over 4 hours of my life wasted and all they offer is the $40 fee back. Pitiful. Also their inspections are poor. for instance report says tires at 35# and fine, when they are actually 32# as specified in manual.
